More details on Lorraine Guyo’s flop gig: Fails to pay MC Power FM’s Chamvary

More details on Lorraine Guyo’s flop gig: Fails to pay MC Power FM’s Chamvary. The actress hired the Rainbow Towers Hotel (former Sheraton Hotel), and not the HICC as claimed elsewhere, for her birthday celebrations.

Fans and followers of Lorraine were reportedly supposed to pay US$3 for ordinary seats and US$10 for VIP seats, to gain admittance into the birthday celebrations. Social media personality Lorraine Guyo of the “Ndinyengeiwo” fame has found herself under fire over unpaid debts after her vaunted birthday party flopped.

Unfortunately, for Lorraine, she may have overestimated her popularity. Despite a huge following on social media which results in thousands of views, likes and comments on her skits, not many people were willing to pay to be at her party. It also did not help matters, that the party was taking place on a Sunday, a day when most want to relax before heading back to work and hustling on a Monday.

Due to the poor attendance, Lorraine Guyo did not collect as much as she thought she would and this resulted in her failing to pay for some of the services she had hired.

One of the people that Lorraine failed to pay off is a popular radio personality, DJ Chamvary who had been hired to be the MC at the event. Chamvary was not impressed after Lorraine failed to settle her obligations as agreed and took to social media to blast the young actress. Chamvary said that Lorraine should not be a hypocrite and should settle her debts like she promised.

Chamvari

Writing on social media, Chamvary said. Ndaakuozo zvitaura pano manje!!! ( I will wash your dirty laundry in public if you don’t fix this) Honour your promise to pay!!!! In full !!!! Perhaps, not satisfied with the response, Chamvary added. Iwe pawakazviitwa wakachema pano. Ukaita kuti uyo aseke nenyika. Manje ini urikuda kundiita iyoyo. Kwete! NO MHANI!!!

Fellow social media personality and comedienne Mai TT also revealed that Lorraine Guyo is drowning in debt as she is failing to pay off MCs and performers who entertained people at the event. Mai TT even went on to say that she is not Lorraine’s mother and that people should stop calling her over the debts.

Mai Titi and Lorraine

Mai TT who recently had a tiff with Lorraine counselled the young performer to stay grounded and to only do things that she can afford. However, Mai TT could not resist taking potshots at Lorraine and mocked her saying that even though the party was for her 21st birthday, she is actually 26 in reality.

iHarare’s efforts to get in touch with Lorraine Guyo were unsuccessful at the time of writing.

AKA dumped DJ Zinhle because of Pearl Thusi

DJ Zinhle has been mum on her break-up with rapper AKA since news of their split broke. However the “Umlilo” hitmaker has finally broken her silence. Speaking to Drum Magazine , she shared that the reason behind her silence on the split was due to being booked and busy. Family and work are important to Zinhle, who said: “I am fine, I’m genuinely fine. I just have been overworked.

She said as far as her relationship with her baby daddy was concerned, they were civil towards each other and “one big happy family”. Kiernan, my mom and I, everyone is just getting along. Our break-up hasn’t broken up the family.

“It doesn’t have to be a romantic relationship to make a family work and that is what we are trying to do now. The duo ended their romance at the end of last year.

Rumours of their break up started when Zinhle went on holiday with her BFF Pearl Thusi to Mauritius and AKA jetted off to South Korea on a solo holiday. After weeks of speculation, AKA confirmed their break-up in an interview on Metro FM in January.

AKA and DJ Zinhle

The “Fela In Versace “hitmaker told DJs Sphectacula and Naves: “It’s been a crazy start to the year, I had to go away. I went on holiday. I was just speaking off-air that I went on a very cold holiday. As people might have noticed it’s my first holiday being a single man for many, many years.

Last month AKA also tweeted: “I’ve been single since 2019. What was I supposed to do? Inform you? This is not the first time that AKA and DJ Zinhle have parted ways. When they first broke up, AKA had cheated with Bonang Matheba. It is no secret that Bonang and DJ Zinhle have not been on good terms ever since it was rumoured that Bonang was dating AKA. DJ Zinhle called it quits with AKA after a 3-year long relationship in 2015, this after DJ Zinhle accused the rapper of having an affair with Bonang.

AKA and Bonang finally decided to go public about their relationship, which has since collapsed. Meanwhile, AKA’s mother Lynn Forbes has shown a great deal of loyalty towards DJ Zinhle, who is the mother of her granddaughter.

The pair have displayed a good relationship over the years, despite AKA and Zinhle’s messy breakups .The businesswoman spoke to DRUM Magazine on where she and Kairo’s mom stand. Glammy, as some know her by, has said that her relationship with the DJ will never change and the love is still there.

“My relationship with Zinhle is never going to change and neither will my relationship with Kiernan (AKA). I love them both dearly and I support both. They’re amazing kids. My relationship with Zinhle is never going to change,” she said.

The couple is notorious for having an on and off relationship, but that has never hindered Lynns’ relationship with Zinhle. In fact, if you may recall during their first breakup, Lynn’s relationship with her son was strained. This was caused by her loyalty to DJ Zinhle.

Mystery over Norman Mapeza departure deepens

Mystery over Mapeza departure deepens. The mystery surrounding Norman Mapeza’s shock departure from Chippa United deepened yesterday with both parties keeping the matter under wraps because of contractual issues.

The Zimbabwean gaffer threw in the towel on Monday night after meeting the club’s owner, Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi, and telling him he was unhappy that some players appeared not playing to their full potential because of the politics at the club.

Sources suggested Mapeza was advised by some of the players that they had been told to under-perform, by some of the team’s leaders in what is the world’s most chaotic football club, to ensure the former Warriors coach would be fired.

The axe, according to the sources, was supposed to fall at the weekend but Mapeza managed to arrest a recent slide and inspire his men to a crucial win. The ugly divorce came just a month after Mpengesi called Mapeza the Pitso Mosimane of Zimbabwean football and placed a R20 million (about US$1,384m) release clause on the former Warriors skipper to deter potential suitors.

The Cape Town-based tycoon, known for firing coaches, says he is proud to have finally recruited a gaffer who knows what he is doing, who has a track record of success, and who has already made a huge difference in the short time he has been in charge of his team.

‘‘Coaches must not be afraid of being fired,’’ he said. ‘‘They must trust their players. Coach Mapeza, he is protected, even if we want to fire him, it won’t be easy. I’m happy (his agents) did that but, also, he must pay us a lot of money, if another club wants to take Norman, they must come with a big bag of cash.’’

Asked what amount would be needed to take away Mapeza from his stable, Mpengesi said the club that wants him would have to part away with R20 million. ‘‘Currently, Norman is one of the top coaches, he is the Pitso of Zimbabwe,’’ said Mpengesi, who also revealed he was paying Mapeza an attractive package.

‘‘It’s confidential,’’ he said. ‘‘You can ask him, from Zimbabwe to South Africa, I’m sure he is happy. For the first time, we have a coach who has achieved five clean sheets.’’ He said some clubs appear to be interested in Mapeza, but did not have the money to get him out of Chippa United.

Mpengesi said Mapeza had always been on their radar and could possibly have joined them at the start of the season, but the coach might have been discouraged from making the giant leap by people who claimed that coaches did not last at Chippa United.

It emerged yesterday that the businessman was still trying to persuade Mapeza to stay.

“Chippa United tried without a success to persuade Norman Mapeza to stay as the club’s head coach. The chairman (Mpengesi), being someone known for firing coaches, was the one pleading with the coach to stay this time, but to no avail,” said the source.

According to sources, the Zimbabwean mentor highlighted that he felt some of the players didn’t give him the respect he needed as he found them at the club, and did not sign them when he joined.

Mapeza was absent at training yesterday and former Platinum Stars defender Mbuyiselo Sambu has taken charge in preparation for the league clash against Bidvest Wits on Saturday (20h15).

Some sources said he could move to Amazulu who placed their coach, Jozef Vukusic, on leave and replaced him with Ayanda Dlamini and Moeneeb Josephs in preparing for the upcoming match against log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Dlamini coached the Durban-based club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge team before being roped in as Vukusic’s assistant in the first team three weeks ago, while Josephs has never coached any professional club before.

“I don’t comment on that . . . what you are saying. I can’t comment on that. I can’t comment on anything because I need to see people and speak to people. After that, I can say something. I haven’t read anything, so I don’t know what you are saying now,” Vukusic told the Siya crew.

Last month, AmaZulu put five senior players Thembela Sikhakhane, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Michael Morton, Jabulani Ncobeni and Nhlanhla Vilakazi on a ‘‘special training programme’’.

The players have been absent from the matchday squads amid the current relegation battle, while former assistant coach Mabhuti Khenyeza jumped ship to take charge of TS Galaxy in the second-tier league. AmaZulu returned to South Africa’s top tier league in 2017, after purchasing the status of Thanda Royal Zulu, who was recently promoted at the time.

Usuthu had been relegated to the second tier at the end of the 2014/15 season and struggled to fight their way back to the elite league. Chippa United fans were reeling yesterday after the resignation of Mapeza. Here’s a glimpse into what fans had to say:

@East God: ‘‘Norman Mapeza resigned at Chippa Utd . . . something is fundamentally wrong at that club

@SibandaBlessed: Norman Mapeza is a great coach. This was just a highlight of what he can do. From here he can only rise. If I were his manager I would advise him to stick around.’’

@MrCow_Man: This is probably the first time a coach is not fired but quit at Chippa United. — Sports Reporter/Agencies.

The past week has been full of heartbreaking news and rumours of different actors leaving their shows, and this has left a lot viewers disturbed. Generations: The Legacy fans were living the dream when old castmates Menzi Ngubane and Siyabonga Thwala reunited on Isibaya but it seems it’s all coming to an end.

The two industry veterans’s future on the show has been making headlines following Nomzamo Mbatha’s exit from the show earlier this week. The Mzansi Magic telenovela confirmed that Menzi Ngubane was to leave show declining any behind the scenes drama as the cause.

Siyabonga Thwala

Menzi Ngubane is leaving Isibaya. He has been playing the character of Judas Ngwenya on the show for four years. He will be killed this week,” Philly Kubheka, HOD for PR & publicity Local Entertainment Channels said in a statement to Sunday World.

On the other hand, Siyabonga Thwala is being accused of being a drama queen so much that he has allegedly been placed on a temporary leave. Sources from the show told the publication that Thwala wanted to be given special treatment since he is a veteran and having been with the show from day one. Another source said the actor always complains about what was included in the script.

Siyabonga Thwala

Siyabonga has been shooting last week and this week. He did take some time off earlier this month for personal reasons. Siyabonga is a very skilled and competent actor. He’s back on set. We are not aware of Mr Thwala jumping ship,” Mzansi Magic spokesman Irvin Pooe said brushing off the claims.

No joy for former Mnangagwa top aide

No joy for former Mnangagwa top aide. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s former aide Douglas Tapfuma’s bid for acquittal at the close of the State Case was thrown out yesterday after Harare regional magistrate Esther Chivasa ruled he has a case to answer.

Tapfuma, who is accused of abusing the name of the State Residencies Department to evade paying import duty on several cars, has been in remand prison since August last year.

He filed a two-fold application before Chivasa. He sought acquittal and bail on changed circumstances citing that since the State had closed its case, there would be no prejudice if he is released.

Both applications were dismissed. “At this stage, the State need not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that an offence was committed, but should raise a basis why the accused person must be put to his defence,” Chivasa ruled.

“It was not in dispute that accused person was a public officer and that he acquired paperwork for the purchase of the motor vehicles in question and there are witnesses who have testified on policies regarding the acquisition of vehicles in the State Residences Department.

“The accused person has issues that must be clarified, which if not, may lead to his conviction. The court found no changed circumstances justifying the release of the accused person on bail.”

Tapfuma will open his defence case on March 4. The State’s allegations are that Tapfuma purchased two personal mini-buses from South Africa on April 10, 2018, claiming they belonged to the government.

On April 17, the same year, he allegedly assigned Bonani Ganyane, an officer in the transport section at State Residences, to go to Beitbridge and facilitate the clearance of the two vehicles, misrepresenting that they were government vehicles.

Ganyane allegedly travelled to Beitbridge and after clearing the vehicles, he was instructed to hand them over to Vongaishe Mupereri, a legislator for Mbizo Constituency.

The main opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has identified 20 key electoral principles to be incorporated into the proposed Electoral Bill ahead of the 2023 elections.

“Right now, we are talking about 2023 elections. There can never be an election without resolving the 2018 political issues. “So, if we are going 2023, I can assure you, we will be back to square one. We will win the election in 2023, V11 forms will be manipulated and altered,” Chamisa said.

Government begins renovating stadiums to try and overturn CAF ban. The government today started the refurbishment of the National Sports Stadium in Harare following a series of meetings held yesterday.

The giant facility, together with all other venues was condemned by the Confederation of African Football prompting Government to pull resources together to upgrade the stadium. The AFCON qualifying tie between the Warriors and Algeria had been taken away from Zimbabwe and was set to be played on neutral soil but that ban could be lifted after ZIFA lodged an appeal with CAF.

This afternoon we witnessed workmen attending to the playing turf, which is one of the major areas recommended for upgrading by the CAF inspectors last November. Media tribunes, turnstiles, sitting bays, doping rooms as well as ablution facilities will also be attended to.

Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa told journalists after Cabinet met in Harare that “all effort is being made to ensure that the country hosts international matches.”

“Consultations are in progress to ensure that the country’s stadia which fall under different authorities are also rehabilitated to meet required international standards,” she said of council facilities which include Barbourfields, Rufaro and Gwanzura.

Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo is reportedly in line to receive $13 million from the central government this week to commence a major facelift.

Govt: National Sports Stadium will be 75% complete before Algeria match

Govt: National Sports Stadium will be 75% complete before Algeria match. Speaking after the Cabinet Tuesday briefing, Acting Sports minister Kazembe Kazembe said work on the NSS started on Tuesday to align it with the requirements of Caf.

Government says it has thrown its full weight behind a last-ditch refurbishment of the National Sports Stadium (NSS) in a bid to avoid the embarrassment of hosting Zimbabwe’s African Cup of Nations (Afcon) match against Algeria in a neighbouring country. This comes after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) last week condemned all the country’s stadiums as unfit to host international matches.

He said engineers and architects are on the ground. Kazembe said in two weeks the stadium will be 75 per cent complete following renovations and other work underway at the National Sports Stadium. “As we are speaking right now there are people who are working on the National Sports Stadium,” he said.

“They started this morning. Yesterday, there was a meeting of all stakeholders at the National Sports Stadium, a similar meeting took place in Bulawayo.”

He added: “But I can confirm to you, work has already started, the pitch is being attended to, floodlights are being attended, dressing rooms are being attended to and all those three areas can be dealt within the next 14 days.

“The spectator’s area – that’s an issue that can be dealt within the next 14 days funds permitting. The dressing room is being attended to.”

Kazembe said areas that will be difficult include work on bucket seats and electronic turnstiles. He said the government will need more time to meet the above two requirements.

Kazembe added that government was in constant communication with CAF and are hoping the continental football governing body will be kind enough to allow the country to host its home match on March 29 at home.

Sport presenter Mpho Letsholonyane has lifted the lid about an alleged racial profiling incident at a Dis-Chem store in Dainfern on Wednesday morning. When you have two women with full trolleys, one black, one white, both walk into a store and you hear a person in the control room tell the security on the floor to keep an eye on the black woman because clearly she must be there with ill intentions since she walked in with a full trolley!

“I’m the black woman this morning at Dis-Chem Dainfern,” she wrote on Twitter. Mpho said she was “offended” that someone “decided”, based on her skin colour, that her presence in the store raised a red flag.

“The fact that there was a whole other human being who walked in with me, who didn’t raise a security flag, perhaps because of the colour of her skin, is extremely offensive to me!” she said, telling the company to “do better”. Dis-Chem issued a brief statement expressing its disappointment at the treatment she received.

“Hi Mpho, we are disappointed to hear about your experience at our Dainfern store and thank you for reaching out to us. Please DM us your contact details so we can escalate this to senior management to look into and provide you with feedback,” the company said.

Judging by the voluminous number of tweets unleashed by the opposition MDC-A leadership and exiled ‘G-40’ protagonists, since December, claiming a new day beckons, and considering the conversely corresponding silence on the streets, Mnangagwa made the right prediction.

In a speech delivered on December 13 at the Zanu-PF National Conference in Goromonzi, President Emmerson Mnangagwa advised ruling party delegates to ignore MDC-A and ‘G-40’ naysayers, stating, “They will tweet and tweet while we rule and rule.”

Indeed, ‘they’ have been tweeting, endlessly. And I am plain tired of reading their tweets. With every rhetorical, sentimental, divine and jingoistic statement MDC-A president Nelson Chamisa publishes on Twitter, my fears about his emotional temperament, leadership skills and style grow in leaps and bounds.

I worry that he takes publishing emotional pronouncements on Twitter much too serious and underestimates the political juggernaut that Zanu-PF is. And I am obliged to consider if Chamisa’s Twitter feed is an online extension of his laid-back, patient and passive persona.

I wonder whether he truly believes in the pervasive reach of social media in Zimbabwe or power of prayer to overwhelm Zanu-PF at the polls. And I am worried he really is gutless, overly forgiving and sold on the idea that good men and women will always triumph over evil folks somehow, sometime.

And under the present circumstances, this utopian faith is cause for concern. While spreading positivity on social media is unquestionably commendable, Chamisa is incredibly evasive on what he has done lately to help arrest Zimbabwe’s economic, political and humanitarian slide, what he will do to unseat Mnangagwa at the polls in 2023, or what he might do should he fail to achieve his specified goals.

Nevertheless, while Chamisa is stuck on disseminating information on Twitter, who will implore people to march against corruption, dwindling basic services and bad governance? While Chamisa is satisfied with only publishing nationalist statements on Twitter, who will lead a people-centred campaign for urgent reforms? Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube or Lynnette Karenyi?

Or none of the above?

In his latest ‘massive’ Twitter offering, published on Sunday, Chamisa alleged Zimbabwe has ‘too many smart, educated and talented people to be in such a mess’.

But, it is.

It might not be obvious to Chamisa, but Zimbabwe is, what it is, and probably what it should be in 2020.

It is an existential reflection of the nation’s potential, capabilities and progress in 40 years.

And our slow-moving, unproductive political situation is a consummate representation of both Zanu-PF and the MDC-A’s largely lacklustre achievements in the last 20 years.

Anything to the contrary, is a figment of Chamisa’s imagination.

Lest we forget that intellect is relative to the task at hand and the really smart people in Zimbabwe are in power.

Yet that is not entirely the point.

Instead, this is: led by our wonderfully positive, sedentary and ever-tweeting MDC-A leadership, our wishfully impractical and subdued resistance to tyranny is. Chamisa should know better than to defer to nationalistic rhetoric in troubled times.

Although it sounds rather magnificent, moving and patriotic, it is worthless, as firm resistance to authoritarian rule is what Zimbabwe needs.

Not more absolutely superb Twitter fairy tales. Deflecting to Zimbabweans working abroad, how educated Zimbabweans are, what Zimbabwe should be, or indeed what Zimbabwe could be, only demonstrates major denial over our failure as a people.

Botswana, South Africa and Namibia have comparatively less educated people, but why are these southern African nations doing much better than Zimbabwe? Why, unlike Zimbabwe, do they manage to hold elections peacefully and change leaders consistently? Why, unlike Zimbabwe, do their opposition leaders dare to fight for human, economic and political rights?

Zimbabwe’s ongoing crisis has plenty to do with a lack of strong leadership in both Zanu-PF and the MDC-A; a point, ironically, lost to Chamisa, who also claimed ‘Zimbabweans are running the world over’.

That is not a very smart thing to say. Zimbabweans may be doing well abroad, but they don’t run ‘the world’. Many have found refuge in countries where leaders often fight in the courts and on the streets.

They live, work and flourish in places where opposition leaders are routinely jailed for leading protests and defying unlawful government actions.

They live in countries where opposition leaders understand the limits of social media, don’t believe in their own propaganda and don’t call for change impulsively and without a well-defined plan of action to widely share.

Referring to political and economic change, Chamisa stated, “We must cause it to happen”.

Were it the first time Chamisa has said something like this on Twitter, this statement would have been heaven-sent.

But he has repeatedly said this since 2018.

Over. And.

Over. Again.

And done nothing.

He may be the leader of the opposition in a very tough environment, but strong leadership demands political intuition, action and hard sacrifices. Indeed, Chamisa must desist from declaring change is a given.

It is not, especially after the ‘transformation’ that happened in November 2017. So less Twitter rebellion from Chamisa and more time spent on earth expressing our profound dismay at government mismanagement, demanding change and giving Mnangagwa a hard time might just lead us somewhere.

I would love to often see Chamisa on the frontlines, marching for change, under arrest at Harare Central Police Station, detained at Harare Remand Prison or appearing in court on various trumped charges.

I would like to see him emulate MDC-A Vice-Chairman Job Sikhala’s actions in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza. And I would love to see Mnangagwa eat his words. Go on, Nelson, don’t just tweet: get up and do something.

Truth revealed of comedienne Anne Kansiime’s divorce to her husband of 4 years. The couple split up sometime in 2017 and Kansiime’s financial muscle over her husband was speculated to have contributed largely to their marriage falling apart.

Women suffering most as divorce cases go up

Women suffering most as divorce cases go up. Divorced women have mostly fallen victim to economic marginalisation. Normally, when a couple divorces, their children are left in the care of by their mothers, who more often than not may find it difficult to fend for the children, thereby being forced into prostitution. Multiple divorce cases that have thronged Zimbabwe in recent years have caused a spike in the rate of prostitution, particularly among women.

After the couple’s divorce, because of unfavourable economic conditions, they may end up paying very little towards the upkeep of their children, with many of them unemployed due to the current economic disaster the country is going through.

Chipo Madziri (not her real name) says she did not venture into prostitution by choice but because she and her three daughters from the former marriage had found themselves without the economic muscle to survive.

“I decided to become a s.e.x worker after my husband left me with the children for another,” she said. Chipo is now operating as a s.e.x worker at a popular nightspot in Dzivarasekwa, Harare. “After I and my husband separated, I became vulnerable and could not pay rentals since I had no other means of generating income,” she added.

Like many divorced women, Chipo approached the maintenance court where she was awarded ZWL350.00 for the upkeep of the three children as the husband did not earn much as a security guard. According to Chipo, the maintenance money was not enough to take care of the rentals, clothing, school fees and food for the three children.

“After I was evicted from where I was staying for failure to pay rentals, I went on to stay with my friend who was into prostitution,” she said. Chipo also had this to say: “Observing how my friend was surviving through prostitution, I decided to join her. The ‘bar’ became my new way of life.”

Prostitution is generally viewed as a dangerous profession as it is usually associated with certain risks, among them physical assaults by drunken clients, including the risk of contracting the deadly HIV and Aids disease and other s.e.xually transmitted infections.

“In this line of work, I have to be extra careful every day if I am to continue to look after my children because there are a lot of risks associated with it,” Chipo says. Even at the rate at which s.e.x workers get attacked and sometimes brutally murdered, Chipo still has no choice but to continue to gamble with life as she has the welfare of her children to think about.

“If it was not for the children, I would not have found me dicing with my own prostituting. “I encounter a lot of problems in this trade, including sleeping around with everyone who comes up with the money,” she added. In Zimbabwe, prostitution has become the plight of so many women in economically marginalised areas, in particular those who go through a divorce and are left in the care of the children.

Stella Chingwe (also not her real name), a divorcee and mother of two who plies in vegetables in Dzivarasekwa, said life was difficult for her and the children as money granted her by maintenance court to look after the children following the divorce was much too little for their upkeep.

“The worsening economic conditions in the country mean I cannot find a job. “I am also not adequately educated so that I can get an opportunity for a job where education is the requirement.

“My only other option is to vend for my children,” she said. Chingwe added: “Vending has also never been easy as we are constantly chased by the municipal police, who say we are not selling at designated points.”

Zimbabwe has seen an increase in divorce cases, with most men being the ones to initiate divorce proceedings. Statistics from civil courts indicate an increase in the number of divorce cases.

Social scientists and other experts have attributed this development to the general erosion of cultural values due to urban migration, domestic violence, adultery and other social ills.

According to the Zimbabwe Labour Committee 2020, more than half of the adult population in Zimbabwe earns less than US$35 per month, which is not enough to cater for a family of four as economic challenges persist in the country. Single motherhood is a worldwide issue; research shows that there are about 10 million single mothers in the world today.

Rami commented on Phathu Makwarela’s tweet about how, in his experience, Mzansi will have no one to stan if the truth were to come out about how the “loved” and established actresses mistreat the young and upcoming generation.

“The day young and upcoming actresses open up about the abuse they’ve had to endure at the hands of established actresses that we venerate, we’ll have no one to stan. Some of our idols don’t take imminent retirement well,” Phathu said.

Rami was one of the first actresses to share her views on the matter. Speaking from her personal experience, the veteran actress said she has no time to beef with the youngin’, and that for her as long as they are willing to learn, she’s always willing to help them flourish to their fullest potential.

Phathu o bolela ka proper actors not bo motšwaoswere le bo ‘I wanna be famous’. I personally don’t have time for those. Coming to work unprepared is an epic fail for me cos your straight teeth and blank, expressionless face are not going to cut it. Both men and women. Acceptance is key. I’m over 40, I can’t be fighting with a 25-year-old!” Rami said.

Zenande, who plays the role of Goodness Mabuza on The Queen, revealed that she has personally experienced such abuse, and said that one day when she’s ready, she would share the story. I experienced this, and one day I’ll have the courage to speak up about it openly. The abuse from older actresses onto younger ones needs to stop. Enough is enough.”

Lush lemon pepper chicken – Recipe

This tasty traybake is super easy – all the flavour comes from the delectable honey and mustard marinade.

Ingredients
For the marinade
4 tbsp clear honey
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
3 garlic cloves, peeled, grated
3-4 tsp cracked black pepper, to taste
2 lemons, zest and juice
For the lemon pepper chicken
4 bone-in chicken breasts, skin removed, each breast scored three or four times using a sharp knife

4-5 sprigs fresh rosemary
1 lemon, thinly sliced
700g/1½lb baby new potatoes
salt and freshly ground black pepper
handful chopped fresh flatleaf parsley leaves, to serve

Lush lemon pepper chicken

Method
For the marinade, mix together all the marinade ingredients in a bowl until well combined.

For the lemon pepper chicken, rub some of the marinade into the scored chicken, then place the chicken breasts in a bowl and pour over the remaining marinade. Cover the bowl with cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 10 minutes and up to two hours.

When the chicken has marinated, preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6.

Arrange the rosemary sprigs and lemon slices in the bottom of a roasting tray. Tip the potatoes into the roasting tray, then place the marinated chicken breasts on top of the potatoes. Give the chicken a final coating of marinade and season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Roast for 30–35 minutes, or until the potatoes and the chicken are cooked (the chicken is cooked through when the juices run clear when pierced in the thickest part with a skewer).

Cover the roasting tray with aluminium foil and set the chicken aside to rest for 10–15 minutes. Just before serving, scatter over the chopped parsley.

Bangers and sweet potato mash – Recipe

Swede and sweet potato make a lighter mash for this British classic – buy the best quality pork sausages and roast them in the oven without any extra oil.

Ingredients
8 good-quality pork sausages
500g/1lb 2oz swede, peeled and diced
500g/1lb 2oz sweet potato, peeled and diced
50g/1¾ oz butter
100g/3½ oz half-fat crème fraîche
salt and freshly ground black pepper
For the gravy
1 tbsp olive oil
2 onions, thinly sliced
6 sprigs thyme, tied together with string
150ml/5fl oz beer (or use an extra 150ml/5fl oz beef stock)
2 tsp English mustard
500ml/18fl oz beef stock
2 tbsp beef gravy granules
To serve
300g/10½ oz green beans, steamed

Bangers and sweet potato mash

Method
Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6 and line a baking tray with baking paper

Place the sausages on the lined baking tray and cook in the oven for 25–30 minutes, depending on their thickness, shaking the tray from time to time to ensure even cooking.

Meanwhile, put the swede and sweet potato into a large pan and pour over enough cold water to cover. Season with salt and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until tender.

In the meantime, make the gravy. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the onions and thyme and cook, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes, or until softened and starting to brown and caramelise.

Pour in the beer, if using, and simmer until the volume has reduced by half, then add the mustard and beef stock. Simmer for 10 minutes, then whisk in the gravy granules and stir until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

When the swede and sweet potato are cooked, drain and mash until smooth. Return them to the pan and mix in the butter and crème fraîche. Season with salt and pepper and reheat gently. Serve the sausages with the mash, steamed green beans and plenty of gravy.
