South African citizens were left with mixed emotions yesterday and ended up attacking Mohale Motaung for his tweet asking to be put in prayers.

Mohale Motaung on Twitter opened up about how his partner Somizi is taking his mother’s death. In opening up, Mohale asked citizens to put them in their prayers during this difficult time.

Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo

@Mohale_Motaung wrote “I’ve never seen my husband like this. Please pray for us guys, i really need to be strong for him”.

The tweet was not welcomed well by many as they thought and believe that he was only seeking attention on that. Citizens including fans attacked him calling him to stay away from Twitter and start supporting his husband during this time.

@Ms_Nobby wrote “Just get off Twitter. Be with him. We’ll keep you in our prayers. Strength to you and your family during this time”.

“Keep it private, Even us have our own issues”, @gmswane wrote.

Layperson wrote “Seriously, the next thing he will take a video of him crying just to make us understand the pain”.

“Yho i really wanted to say this but the thought of Black Twitter coming for me got me really scared. I decided to tool but now that you said it, i really agree with you.Like he must be with his husband coz he really needs him instead of posting”.

However, some citizens agree and support Mohale’s tweet. According to them, people deal with things different and shouldn’t be attacked when expressing themselves.

Although their relationship ended three years ago acrimoniously after Atandwa Kani found out that the children he knew to be his were not.

It’s now emerged that the actor secretly wanted Thembisa back.

According to insiders, the star soon backtracked on not wanting to have anything to do with Thembisa.

He bagged people to change her mind and take him back.

“He realized he loved the kids and Thembisa and had a change of heart,” said one insider.

A screenshot of a conversation between him and the woman, who he had asked to help him get Thembisa back reads: “I want my woman back and want my family back.”

This was at a time when he was already living abroad in the US with Fikile, according to a second mole.

“He realized a lot of things after a while and missed the children.

“He asked one of her close friends to help him appeal to Thembisa’s better nature,” said the informant. According to another screenshot, the woman promised to “try by any means to help”.

In another message, he tells her he’s been unable to sleep, saying “it’s 6 am and I’m still awake. I want my Tess back.”

Thembisa had moved on with another man she met while working on the set of Our Perfect Wedding. A third source said while he wanted Thembisa back, he was still with Fikile.

Both Thembisa and Atandwa could not be reached for comment.

Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the incident which occurred on Thursday at about 6pm at Geelong Mine in West Nicholson. A 16-year-old teenager died while his friend sustained injuries when a mine shaft they were working in collapsed while they were illegally panning for gold in West Nicholson.

He said the now deceased whose name was being withheld as his next of kin had not been notified died on the spot while his associate aged 22 was admitted to Gwanda Provincial Hospital where he is in a critical state.

“I can confirm that we recorded a mine accident which occurred in Geelong Mine where a 16-year-old teenager died. The now deceased and his associate aged 22 years old were working in a shaft when it collapsed and trapped them underneath. They screamed for help and a security guard who was at a neighbouring mine heard them and rushed to their rescue.

“He managed to retrieve them from the shaft but the 16-year-old teenager had already died while his associate was rushed to Gwanda Provincial Hospital where he is in a serious condition. The matter was reported to the police who attended the scene. The deceased’s body was taken to the Gwanda Provincial Hospital mortuary,” he said.

Chief Insp Ndebele urged members of the public to desist from engaging in illegal mining activities as they were putting their lives at risk. He said all those intending to engage in mining activities had to first obtain necessary documentation and further ensure they had the appropriate safety clothing and tools. He said 13 people were arrested at Abacon Mine on Thursday for prospecting without licenses.

“Illegal mining activities continue to be a problem in the province and we want to warn culprits as the long arm of the law will catch up with them. On Thursday we arrested 13 people who were prospecting for gold without licences and they are set to appear in court,” he said. Meanwhile, police in Matabeleland South have appealed for assistance in locating the relatives of a man whose body has been lying at the United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for the past three months.

The man only identified as Khumbulani Mhlanga suspected to be from Lupane area was stabbed to death on 21 March at Claremount Mine in Fort Rixon. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is holding remains of a male adult body at United Bulawayo Hospitals Mortuary. The victim is only known as Khumbulani Mhlanga and is suspected to be from Lupane area. The now-deceased had stayed at Claremount Mine, Fort Rixon for close to 13 years.

“On 21 March he was stabbed to death on the chest with a knife at Claremount Mine. He could be in his mid-30s, is approximately 1,57 metres tall and is dark in complexion. Relatives who have a family member that went missing during the corresponding period or who went away on gold panning activities are requested to contact Chief Inspector Ndebele on 08428-22810 or 0715 431 235/0773 594 899 or the investigating officer Sgt Chimbazaza on 0772503606. Tino Kadewere: We will make the whole country smile. France-bound Warriors striker, Philana Tinotenda Kadewere has said he is convinced that the Zimbabwean senior football team will one day win and bring joy to the country. He was speaking on Zimbabwe’s national team history and chances for the team to perform better at the FIFA World Cup slated for Qatar 2022. He said:

It’s a huge honour to be able to play for your country and I’ll never tire of seeing my name on the squad lists. Of course, every national team goes through ups and downs, but I’m convinced that the day will come when we will make the whole country smile. We all know that the road leading to the World Cup is long and winding, but that’s the goal that we’ve set ourselves.

Obviously, we’re going to need to work hard to achieve it but we’ve got some solid foundations to build on. We’ve got real talent in the team and we’re a well-oiled unit that’s been playing together for a few years now. That’s a definite asset for us.

Although the Warriors seem to be on the up, having managed to qualify for the last two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, something they last achieved in 2004 and 2006, Kadewere said the main objective and his biggest wish is the World Cup. Kadewere made his debut for Olympique Lyonnais popularly known as Lyon this week when they played a friendly match against Swiss side US Port-Valais during which he scored a quadruple.

Botswana President Masisi in another 14-day self-isolation. The development was announced in a statement issued by Andrew Sesinyi, the government communications’ permanent secretary in a statement. Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi on Thursday began a 14-day self-isolation after an official working closely with him tested positive for COVID-19.

The statement reads in part: The office of the President regrets to inform that due to the discovery of a positive COVID-19 test result last night on one of the officials closely serving His Excellency, President Mokgweetsi Masisi, the COVID-19 precautionary protocols have been activated resulting in the immediate self-quarantine. This is the fourth time Masisi is quarantining since the registration of the first confirmed case of the deadly pandemic in the southern African country on March 30, 2020.

Some of Masisi’s inner circle of officials have also entered into self-isolation, as a precautionary measure to curb the spread and transmission of the disease caused by the highly virulent coronavirus. Botswana has so far recorded 227 coronavirus cases including one death.

The coronavirus pandemic emerged in China’s Hubei province in December last year and has since spread rapidly across the world and scientists are still working towards finding the cure to weather the storm.

Kwaito singer Mshoza finds love again in the hands of a Nigerian Ben 10

Kwaito singer and mum of two Mshoza can’t simply seem to stay away from controversy.

Especially related to her love life.

A few months ago, Mshoza (37) was rumoured to have tied the knot at Home Affairs to East Rand businessman Prince Dlamini in a low-key ceremony in Jozi.

But the plot thickens as close friends confirm Mshoza, real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi, say she is in fact madly in love with Nigerian producer and singer Oluwa Kuwait (30), currently living in Cape Town.

After numerous heartbreaks and toxic relationships, a close friend said Mshoza doesn’t give up on love, and she’ll continue searching until she finds the right one. And Oluwa is the right one.

“There’s nothing wrong with trying until you get it right,” said a close friend.

“But hey, this time I think she’s met her match, shame. Tall, dark, African, and in the music industry. Which means he understands the game,” said a close friend.

“But my only fear is this guy is younger than her.”

Confirmed Mshoza: “Of course, I’m in love. You know I love being taken care of and being spoiled.”

Her friend said Mshoza is dating a guy seven years younger than her, which they believe is just setting herself up for failure.

“How is he going to manage, because Mshoza is also a mum. When he wants to go out, she’ll want to be indoors?” And will she want more kids? Aowa.”

Another source said Oluwa and Mshoza met at the V&A Waterfront early this year and haven’t lost touch since.

“She travelled to Cape Town with her manager Thanduxolo to attend a few meetings and he introduced her to Oluwa, who was meant to be in town just for a few months,” said the friend.

He recently released a song On A Low featuring Ice Prince and D Main. Those are big names, meaning he does not have time for women. So they went to discuss working together on one of his songs,” says the friend. He is a quiet guy.

“Mshoza’s the one who showed interest from the beginning. And who can say No to a queen like Sonto,” says the friend.“ They spent a few days in Clifton near the beach and Thanduxolo left Mshoza in Cape Town with Oluwa.”

The friend says Mshoza was the one who “attacked first.”

Another source said not much is happening between the two, except music.

“Oluwa was looking for some Mzansi artists to collaborate for his EP coming up at the end of July. Mshoza just so happened to be at the right place,” said the mole.

“I’m not sure what happened after that meeting, because we left. But I heard it stretched to more than two hours.”

When contacted for comment Oluwa said he met up with Mshoza, but “strictly music,” before laughing it off and hung up.

“It was strictly business. But we had a great time.”

More than 12 000 unfollow President Mnangagwa on social media

More than 12 000 unfollow President Mnangagwa on social media. By Saturday night, more than 12 000 followers had u followed Mnangagwa on Twitter. However, his spokesperson George Charamba dismissed the campaign as a cheap propaganda stunt by the opposition. President Emmerson Mnangagwa is “unfazed” by a campaign to unfollow him on Twitter as a protest to the country’s economic woes and corruption by government officials.

“Those with good memories recall that I disclosed that MDC Alliance supporters were following my Twitter account in droves and that while I would not block them soon after, I would, in no time expurgate and flush them out. “I have been doing that ever since, with some picking on new phantom names, only to come back. As before, it doesn’t take long to identify and neutralize them, which I do indefatigable,” said Charamba.

“Now, the President of Zimbabwe, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa, cannot do the same with his Twitter account. It would be unseemly for a National Figure who must be accessible to all. From last week, false followers of his account have been unfollowing him in droves, hoping to suggest this is an expression of voters deserting him.”

Charamba said his boss can never be deserted by people he never had in the first place. “Or by phantom followers created in a propaganda department in the hope of contriving a run on that account, what we call bandwagon effect in propaganda language,” said Charamba. ” It wouldn’t solder divisions in your ranks, or the fatal bleeding you suffering because of your own lawlessness. By the way, do the same to my account and let’s see who suffers, cares.”

Late Sfiso Ncwane’s wife, Ayanda and kids fight each other over his properties

Late gospel star Sfiso Ncwane’s kids are taking their stepmom, Ayanda Ncwane, through the wringer.

They’re demanding a share of their legendary dad’s estate. They also demand Ayanda be removed as the executor of the estate “because she’s dishonest and wants everything for herself”.

As a result, the two children have taken the matter to the Master of the High Court.

Snqobile Mzelemu and Sduduzo Dlamini, represented by his mum Pinky Dlamini, claimed their late dad would have continued to maintain them until they were self-sufficient.

Said Snqobile: “I’ve seen my dad’s will. He left me with nothing, I’m not mentioned anywhere in the will. When he was alive, he maintained me through the Durban Family Court.

“But now that I’m older than 18 years of age, I no longer receive the money. I want my share from my dad’s estate as I’m unable to support myself.”

Pinky, on the other hand, said she wanted a share in Sfiso’s estate for Sduduzo.

“I’m not working, therefore I can’t maintain Sfiso’s son. Currently, he depends on his grandfather’s social grant and it’s not enough,” Pinky explained.

A source told the SunTeam Sfiso’s will should have been distributed a long time ago.

“When he was alive, he’d buy school uniform for Sduduzo and give him lunch money. From time-to-time, he’d visit him at school.”

Insisted the source: “For the past three years, Sfiso’s kids have been trying to reach out to Ayanda, but she ignores them. In 2018, they approached the Master of the High Court, to get what’s due to them.“They feel Ayanda wants to take everything for herself.”

According to the will, seen by the SunTeam, the late singer gave all his assets to Ayanda and nothing to his first two kids.

It reads, in part: “I nominate my wife Ayanda Ncwane . . . as a guardian of all minor children and . . . it shall not be necessary for the guardian to furnish security. I give my house . . . and all its contents together with piece of land situated in Adams to my wife Ayanda Ncwane . . . I further give all the cars registered in my name at the time of my death to my wedded wife . . . Sanlam policy will be used as a cover for the house bond and I appoint my wife to facilitate the process.

“I give my music catalogue to my wife and this includes all benefits associated with the catalogue . . . I give a directive that my mortal remains be buried at Heroes Acre in Mayville, Durban . . . ”

The will was signed on 1 October 2016. Sfiso died on 5 December the same year.

Added the mole: “There’s a strong belief that Sfiso died without a will, and that someone else decided to write it after his death. Even if he wrote his will, it’s invalid as Ayanda, who is also the beneficiary, signed it as the first and second witness. This invalidates it.”

“Even if he wrote the will, it means his wishes weren’t followed as he wanted to be buried at Heroes Acre in Mayville but was actually buried at Lalakahle Cemetery near Hillcrest.”

Said the second mole: “Sfiso had six kids and Ayanda knew them. Four of them were born out of wedlock. But in the death notice submitted in February 2017 by Ayanda to the Master of the High Court, Sfiso only had two kids, Umawenzokuhle Hubani Ncwane and Ngcweti Makadunyiswe Ncwane.”

“It’s clear she intended to sideline Sfiso’s kids who were born out of wedlock.”

The source said Ayanda also failed to disclose Sfiso’s assets to the Master of the High Court.

“In 2017, she submitted a liquidation and distribution account to the Master but intentionally misled the court,” the informant commented.

She only disclosed a house, which is worth over R2 million, two old cars, a 2012 Mercedes Viano worth R561 932, a 2008 Range Rover worth R210 000, as well as furniture and household items worth R100 000.

“She failed to disclose Sfiso’s recording company, Ncwane Communications, which is still operational. She failed to mention the vacant land in Adams, Durban, and all the cars. The kids feel she’s not acting in good faith and must be removed as the executor.”

According to documents from the Transport Department, Sfiso had five cars, including an Audi A4, VW Kombi, Mercedes-Benz Vianno, Land Rover L320 (Ranger) and Mercedes-Benz X166.

Lungelo Gcaleka, a lawyer for Snqobile and Sduduzo, said: “I can confirm the matter was referred to me, but am not in a position to disclose the details.” Sfiso’s lawyer, Dr Mkhuseli Vimba said: “I can confirm Sfiso had a will and had chosen his wife as a sole beneficiary. But I’m not sure if Ayanda signed it or not as I wasn’t present when it was drawn up. I’m also not sure if this is the same will that was presented to me at the time.”

Mkhuseli said initially he was appointed by Sfiso as an executor of his estate.

“Sfiso approached me with his will, he asked me to be an executor of his estate but after his death I declined his offer. This is because, at that time I was starting my business and realised I wouldn’t be able to do a good job for the Ncwane family. I then handed it over to Ayanda and advised her that whoever was appointed as an executor must have a good understanding of law as Sfiso’s estate is complicated. I had no idea that she ended up becoming an executor herself.”

Legal expert, Siphiwe Mncwango said: “A person can’t sign a will if they’re beneficiaries. It renders it invalid. The idea of signatures in a will is to safeguard against fraud, uncertainty and speculation. Secondly, a will must be signed by at least two witnesses in the presence of the person making that will. The law acknowledges that two people can’t have the same handwriting or signature. Therefore, it’s against the law to sign twice as a witness. If the Master of the High Court has already accepted such a Will then it can be challenged at the High Court for its validity.”

Ayanda could not be reached for comment. She didn’t respond to our SMSes and WhatsApp messages.

He went on to say: “If the executrix has failed to disclose all the assets of the deceased then an objection must be made at the Master of the High Court.”

Nelson Chamisa’s online rally

Nelson Chamisa’s online rally. Chamisa has been under pressure to spell out the MDC Alliance’s response after the party was stripped of its legislators by a rival faction led by Thokozani Khupe. Khupe, who was installed as the MDC-T’s interim leader pending an extraordinary congress by a Supreme Court ruling early this year, is also gunning for the party’s assets. MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa will today speak on the direction his party will take in the wake of a fierce battle for control of the country’s opposition party.

The faction last month took over the party’s headquarters in Harare and has been recalling legislators loyal to Chamisa. MDC Alliance has also been under pressure to pronounce its position on demonstrations being planned by activists to protest against the deteriorating economic situation in the country on July 31.

Chamisa told The Standard yesterday that he would address his supporters on the issues through a “virtual rally” this afternoon. “We will address the issues and give direction,” he said. “We will talk about the economy, the people’s welfare, the direction in the party and how we will go forward. “We will provide the bread during that rally.”

Amos Chibaya, the MDC Alliance organising secretary, said they were preparing to host “millions of people” through the virtual rally. The party opted for a virtual meeting because lockdown restrictions imposed to slow down the spread of coronavirus bar gatherings of more than 50 people. Chibaya said the “rally” would also target Zimbabweans in the diaspora.

“We have done enough publicity as the organising department regarding our erally to be addressed by the people’s president Advocate Nelson Chamisa (today) at 2pm,” he said. “The rally will be live on our official social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and WhatsApp. “We are expecting millions to tune in and be part of the e-rally.”

Clifford Hlatshwayo, the MDC Alliance deputy spokesperson, said the meeting would give the party supporters direction. “This is the first one of its kind in Zimbabwe. “It comes at a time when the national crisis is deepening and the so-called government leaders are fuelling the downfall of the economy,” he said.

Thomas Mukanya Mapfumo hints at retirement

Thomas Mukanya Mapfumo hints at retirement. He made the revelation in a wide-ranging and exclusive interview with Standard Style on Thursday, the day he celebrated his 75th birthday. The US-based Mapfumo also spoke about a biography project which he said is on the cards and will detail his life and works from a more personal perspective. Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo will be retiring from music soon to take a deserved rest and devote his time to the impartation of musical knowledge to up-and-coming musicians, particularly the young.

“I have kept it a secret. However, due to the importance of this day in my life, perhaps it is time for my fellow country-folk to know that Mukanya will not be appearing on stage ever. I need to rest and pass on the baton to others and this is going to happen in the very near future,” Mukanya said.

“But I will be there in the background dishing out musical knowledge to those that seek it, especially the young men and women who have the passion to uphold our Zimbabwean culture through the art of music. “Already, I am working with and moulding my son, Kurai Makore [that’s my other surname by the way], so that he, too, will carry the family torch. Also recently I had a joint gig with a very talented young lady by the name of Rati Dangarembwa. Mono Mukundu has also given me works by his son who I believe has a very bright future and is a guitar player par excellence.

“This is what I have decided to devote my time doing during the course of my retirement, being advisor and mentor to the young ones. “However, the bias of my education to the up-and-coming artistes will be centred on our music, traditional music. There is no point in our youths attempting to compete with Charlie Black, Vybz Kartel or Beenie Man because they will never win Jamaicans’ hearts. Like Salif Keita who promotes Malian music and Fela Kuti doing the same for Nigeria, I will focus on the music of my motherland.

“So, yes, I have plans to come home for retirement. Kuno kwatiri unoti kukuda here iwe? Aiwa, tiri musango, mumarimuka saka kana muvhimi achinge apedza basa, adzimba, anodzokera kumusha. Home is where the heart and soul are and I aspire to ultimately settle where my umbilical cord is.”

Mapfumo, who has been based in Oregon since his self-imposed exile more than two decades ago (returning home just twice for some shows), on Thursday turned 75, a feat he said can only be achieved when one has the protection of both the deity and the ancestoral spirits. “I thank God and midzimu yangu [my ancestoral spirits] for having taken me this far, it’s not of my own making,” he said. “All humankind acknowledges the hand of God, it’s only that we have different ways of worship, but the destination of prayers is the same.

“As a Zimbabwean, however, I also have the medium spirits that give me protection. Prophets like Chaminuka [just like those you read about in the Bible] were sent to us so that they could guide us. I am not ashamed to be associated with those of the same skin colour as me.

“If you go to India, they will tell you they worship Buddha, and sometime back when I visited Hawaii, they told me they communicate with a god they call Kameyameya. The Red Indians here in America believe in a deity they call Wakatanga. So who is our guiding spirit as Africans and as Zimbabweans?

“My main worry is that when the colonisers came hand-clutching the Bible, they also wielded the gun, stole our God and sold us a God they wanted us to believe in. They told us that our way of worship was demonic, but no, that is not true. That is the very reason why it has proved difficult to unite the people because ancestral spirits are angry.”

Kayise Ngqula on her husband’s passing: I’m grateful for the support that I received from my family

Former Our Perfect Wedding presenter and actress Kayise Ngqula has once again reflected on the pain of losing her husband Farai Sibanda a year ago. The pair were involved in a terrible car accident which left them both hospitalised.

Kayise touched on the days following her husband’s death in an episode on her new YouTube channel After Dark with Kayise and thanking her family for the love and support they showed her during the difficult times.

“My mother, you could see she was taking a strain having to care of me and my little eight-month-old baby. She did it with such grace, commitment and love. I remember bawling my eyes out when she looked at me and said, ‘I wish I could take away your pain’.”

Kayise said that her mother helped nurture her back to full health after the accident, because she could not walk, bath myself or drive.

Kayise Ngqula

“When we came back from the funeral I think is when I really felt the love and support from my family, friends and most certainly of SA. I probably would have never made it without my family”.

She was amazed at how the family never got tired or grew weary. She boldly said they are the reason she is standing today and she admires their love and support.

Speaking on an earlier episode, Kayise recounted the moment she regained consciousness after the accident, and how her husband fought to stay alive.

“There was commotion, the doctors, paramedics and anyone who needed to be there to attend to us, it was then that I asked, ‘Where are we and what’s happened?’ I was then informed by the doctors we’d been in a car accident and that we were quite injured.

“But I looked to my right, my husband was hysterical, fighting off anyone who touched him … he didn’t want to be touched and attended to, he kept screaming my name … I then told him we’re going to be OK.

She said, at the time, she couldn’t understand why he couldn’t wake up. “I asked him and begged him to wake up … I needed to hear him talk.

Two months after the accident, Kayise shared an emotional video on Instagram of the couple tying the knot at their traditional wedding, and promised to preserve their love.

Job Sikhala: I am not afraid of your threat Oppah Muchinguri

Job Sikhala: I am not afraid of your threat Oppah Muchinguri. “If we all remember some days ago the ZANU PF regime through Kazembe Kazembe, issued lies packaged as security and intelligence alert to the nation about the spread of a coup rumour. In those lies, he specifically mentioned myself, Apostle Talent Chiwenga, Gambakwe Media, ZimEye, Nehanda Radio, Saviour Kasukuwere, civic society organizations and some Prophet in the United States of America whose name,” Sikhala said.

MDC Alliance National Vice Chairman Job Wiwa Sikhala has told Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri that he is not afraid of her threats after she claimed that he Sikhala and Apostle Talent Chiwenga among others will be dealt with for attacking the government.

“I don’t remember as culprits. Few days ago Oppah Muchinguri, told Parliament of Zimbabwe that the government is going to arrest all those persons who were mentioned in the lies. Let me set the record straight from the onset, to Oppah Muchinguri, please bring it on. I am not afraid of the threats because this country can not be governed on the basis of lies and manufacturing of falsehoods against those who are standing against the evils of your government because this country does not belong to anyone’s mother.”

Sikhala said he is briefed that the threat by Oppah Muchinguri is targeting at arresting him and Apostle Talent Chiwenga as soon as possible.

“The brief I received which is quite detailed, says, sooner rather than later after our arrest, journalist Hopewell Chin’ono will also be immediately nabbed. Among the institutions and individuals they targeted during their Press Conference, it is only myself and Apostle Talent Chiwenga who are in Zimbabwe. As a clampdown operation all those whom they target for persecution will be nabbed and thrown into jail, thus including silencing Hopewell Chin’ono,” he said.

“I gather that they are all aware that Saviour Kasukuwere is exiled somewhere, the operator of Gambakwe media is in SA, ZimEye operates from UK so is Nehanda Radio, hence the only ones in Zimbabwe is Job Sikhala and Apostle Talent Chiwenga. So all that noise and threats is all about the appetite by the regime to come and have their hands on me and Apostle Chiwenga.”

“Let me be unequivocal. I will not tolerate any persecution on my person anymore. Don’t dare again. Like their threat to come and invade my home on the 29th of February 2020 which turned into a nightmare, I have mobilised the entire population to trigger a revolution in the event of carrying out their threat. I am a practical man. I will never be persecuted because of my resolute stance against this evil regime. My Masvingo Treason trial will be a pick nick.”

He said this time the wave will be unstoppable and he does not make empty threats. “I am not that character. I also urge Apostle Chiwenga to activate his constituency. It’s a do or die situation. We deserve our peace and happiness. These idiots can not just create a lie to justify their evil intentions against certain persons. This is my country. I have every right like any other citizen to express myself on the deficit on how our public affairs are conducted. Inga you have deployed 24 hours surveillance on me and you have noticed I have never been intimidated to the dot,” he said.

“Idiots governing our country should take responsibility for their failures. Trying to use other people as scapegoats is dangerous to its very survival. I have obtained detailed information about all your intentions Oppah Muchinguri. Bring it on. The wheels of the revolution continue to travel.”

Mane scores as Liverpool return to winning ways

Mane scores as Liverpool return to winning ways. The Reds, who were beaten by Manchester City 4-0 on Thursday, were far from their best with the opening goal coming from just their second shot on target, Mane lashing Naby Keita’s cross in via the underside of the crossbar.

Liverpool marked their first home game since becoming Premier League champions with victory, scoring twice in the second half to see off a stubborn Aston Villa. Until then Villa had looked like earning a precious and unexpected point and had even had chances to go ahead themselves, with Alisson parrying away Anwar El Ghazi’s fierce shot early in the second half.

Mane’s strike clearly deflated the visitors and they fell further behind just before full-time when Curtis Jones celebrated signing a new long-term deal by volleying home his first Premier League goal.

The victory means Liverpool have now won all 17 Premier League games at Anfield this season and extends their winning run at home to 24 league games, stretching back to a 1-1 draw with Leicester in January 2019.

Defeat for Villa means they remain in the relegation zone in 18th, one point adrift of safety and still searching for their first win since the Premier League was restarted. Liverpool now have 89 points from 33 games and can still break Manchester City’s top-flight record of 100 points in a season with five matches remaining and 15 points available.

Newcastle, West Ham play to a 2 all draw

Newcastle, West Ham play to a 2 all draw. The Hammers took the lead for the second time when Tomas Soucek fired in from close range, but the Magpies drew level just 92 seconds later through Jonjo Shelvey. Newcastle United twice came from behind to deny relegation-threatened West Ham a second consecutive Premier League victory for the first time since August.

Buoyed by their recent victory over Chelsea, the Hammers started brightly and took an early lead at St James’ Park when Michail Antonio pounced on Jamaal Lascelles’ loose touch to open the scoring. The hosts responded well and drew level when Miguel Almiron converted Emil Krafth’s low cross from close range.

Substitute Andriy Yarmolenko – whose goal sealed victory over the Blues on Wednesday – came closest to finding another late winner, but his stinging strike was well kept out by Martin Dubravka.

West Ham remain 16th in the table and move four points clear of the relegation zone after ending their run of seven consecutive away defeats in the top flight, while Newcastle stay 12th. West Ham were surprise winners over London rivals and Champions League-chasing Chelsea in their last outing, but they will feel this was an opportunity missed to claim only their fourth away win of the season.

Antonio played a vital role in the win over the Blues and his physical presence and relentless running provides David Moyes’s side with a focal point to their attack.

With the game just four minutes old, the Hammers fired the ball to Antonio straight from the back. It was played wide to Jarrod Bowen, who delivered the cross for the lone striker to fire his second goal in as many games into the roof of the net, after Lascelles failed to clear the danger.

The second goal was equally reliant on instinct as Soucek reacted quickest to smash the rebound past Dubravka after Declan Rice’s powerful header clattered off the crossbar from a corner. But teams are always most vulnerable just after scoring, and a lapse in concentration by Pablo Fornals played Dwight Gayle onside in the build-up to Shelvey’s equaliser just moments later.

West Ham have now lost 24 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, more than any other side, but on recent evidence they should have enough to remain in the division. Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches and quietly going about their business under Steve Bruce, with a top 10 finish in their sights.

Allan Saint-Maximin has been crucial to the Magpies’ progress since Project restart, with three assists in the heavy victory over Bournemouth last time around. The skilful Frenchman is exciting on the ball and he is the first player his team-mates look for in possession, but he took a knock towards the end of the first half and struggled to find any rhythm against the Hammers.

He showed glimpses, drawing a foul as he skipped past opposition skipper Rice in the first half, and playing a role in spreading the ball wide for his side’s opener, but he had clearly been identified as the danger man and was the subject of special attention by the visitors. Rice was never far away from the Newcastle number 10 and the visiting captain did well to lunge in and win the ball in a firm challenge in the second half, as Saint-Maximin set off having knocked the ball past the Englishman.

Paraguay attacking midfielder Almiron is beginning to look more comfortable in the black and white shirt, and having only scored twice in his first 40 Premier League appearances, he now has two in as many games.

But 23-year-old Frenchman Saint-Maximin is their talisman, and if he has a quiet game Bruce’s side lack potency in attack – they only managed four shots on target all game on Sunday. ‘The run continues’ – what they said. Newcastle manager Steve Bruce told BBC Sport: “I was delighted the way we have come back twice. We didn’t start well and we knew they would be a threat from set-pieces. We have managed to dig deep and find a reaction, which doesn’t surprise me with the way the players are. The run continues and deservedly so.

“The draw was probably a fair result. West Ham were a very well-organised team and you would not expect anything different from David Moyes. They are fighting for their lives so their defensive organisation set them up well and they are a big powerful side. “The players have enjoyed a change in formation and system but we still have to do things better. We have five points to go to beat the [points] tally from last year, and that has to be the aim. But if somebody had said to us we would have taken 40 points with five games to play, we would have snatched their hands off.”

West Ham manager David Moyes told BBC Sport: “The second goal, especially, was a disappointment because we have conceded within a minute of scoring. I cannot fault the players for what they have given and we probably had two or three chances to win it, but we take the point and move on. “Newcastle are playing with an air of confidence and you have seen that in the results. The first half, they made it hard for us, but we grew into the game. We are disappointed, but we are not completely upset we have come away from here with a point because it’s not a bad point.

“If you had given me three points against Chelsea and a point against Newcastle, I would have said ‘thank you very much’.”

Another draw at St James’ Park – the stats

  • Newcastle have had more home draws than any other team in the Premier League this season (8), with this being their most in a single campaign since 2010-11 (also eight).
  • Despite losing their lead on two occasions, West Ham have gone consecutive games without defeat in the Premier League for the first time since September 2019.
  • Newcastle have scored 10 goals in four games since the Premier League season restarted, as many as they netted in their previous 14 league games before the break.
  • Michail Antonio’s opener for West Ham was his 30th goal in the Premier League, with 100% of them coming from inside the box – this is also the first time he has scored in back-to-back league games since April 2019.
  • Miguel Almiron became the first Newcastle player to reach 10 goal involvements across all competitions this season, having scored eight and provided two assists.
  • Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvey scored his sixth goal of the Premier League campaign, equalling his previous-best return in a top-flight season (six goals in 2013-14).

Burnley and Sheffield play an exciting 1 all draw

Burnley and Sheffield play an exciting 1 all draw. The defender struck a rising half-volley into the far top corner of the net after a short corner had been swung into the box and flicked on by Billy Sharp. John Egan scored with 10 minutes to go to earn Sheffield United a draw at fellow European hopefuls Burnley.

It was reward for a positive display from the Blades, who pressed forward for much of the second half after James Tarkowski had given the home side the lead with a sliding close-range finish. Both sides will feel they had the chances to secure what would have been a big three points in their quest to secure a place in the Europa League.

The Blades had enough of the play and chances, with Oli McBurnie denied by Nick Pope in the very first minute, and could have had a penalty had the VAR officials deemed Erik Pieters’ accidental handling of the ball in the box a punishable offence.

At the other end, Matej Vydra and Dwight McNeil both fired superb opportunities wide of goal for the Clarets. The draw means Sheffield United stay eighth – a position that could be good enough for European qualification – two points ahead of ninth-placed Burnley.A fair result between two well-matched sides
The game was an advert for the quality and resolve of two of the league’s biggest over-achievers. Sean Dyche continues to a do a stellar job at Burnley in incredibly trying circumstances, with his side hampered both by contract issues with some players and by injuries.

He was able to name nine substitutes for the first time since the restart, including Chris Wood, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady, but had to cope without captain Ben Mee and midfielder Jack Cork because of injury. The Clarets continue to find a way to achieve results, though.

After all, this is a team who were three points above the relegation zone in January and are now eyeing a potential late run into the division’s top third. They have won as many games this season as in any of their previous Premier League campaigns, equalling the number they managed when finishing seventh in 2017-18.

Even with Mee absent, they were defensively solid, with Kevin Long stepping in to ensure Pope was largely protected, barring an early effort from McBurnie that the keeper parried and Egan’s shot that he had little chance of saving.

The Clarets will feel they should have wrapped up the points with 15 minutes left but after following up Jay Rodriguez’s parried shot from long range, McNeil fired wide with just Dean Henderson to beat. That they did not, left the door open for the Blades to claim a deserved point.

In Wilder, the Blades have their own Dyche – a manager who demands commitment from his players and offers them the promise of self-improvement in a successful side.At no point during the game did the heads of the Blades players drop, nor their faith in the strategy wane.

Their territorial advantage did not result in an abundance of opportunities, but when their one big chance came they had the skill and composure to capitalise and claim their point. Having taken four points from their past two games, following back-to-back 3-0 defeats, and with Jack O’Connell making a welcome return from injury, the Blades have cause for optimism.

‘These players are giving us everything’

Burnley boss Sean Dyche: “I’m certainly not disappointed. We are a maximum stretch at the moment with the squad. I thought we were very competitive in awkward conditions and made chances that should really have got the game done. “Fair play to Sheffield United, they have some resilience to them, which we have seen all season. They got some luck as well with the corner and delivery as it has got a little nick.

“Normally players coming out of an injured spell would have reserve games but we can’t do that. We just have to get them involved. “Seven points from the four games is acceptable. All you can ask is for players to give you everything and they certainly are.”

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder: “I didn’t think it was a game with a lot of quality. Conditions didn’t help – blustery and a dry pitch. But it is always going to be difficult coming here. There was never going to be anything handed out to us.

“They (Burnley) get over disappointment quickly, are consistent in their attitude and performance and they always turn up. The hard part now for us is to match what they have done. We have to emulate it. “John (Egan) has missed some chances this season. It is an area we have looked at. We should be a bit more of a threat.”

Rare first-half strike for Burnley

  • James Tarkowski’s opener was only the fourth time Burnley have scored a Premier League goal during the opening 45 minutes in their past 21 games, and the first since Chris Wood netted against Spurs back in March.
  • Burnley have now drawn three of their past five home games in the Premier League (W2), this after a run of 19 games without one and their previous three draws at Turf Moor coming across a 36-game spell.
  • Sheffield United have won just one of their past eight away games in the Premier League (D3 L4) never scoring more than once and failing to win any of their most recent four (D2 L2).
  • Only Wolves, Liverpool and Arsenal have won more points from losing positions in the Premier League this season than Sheffield United (14).
  • Burnley’s draw with Sheffield United was the first draw in the competition in 22 matches since Newcastle and Aston Villa also drew 1-1 at St James’ Park.
  • Including the opening goal at Turf Moor, Sheffield United have conceded just five goals from set-pieces in the Premier League this season (including penalties), still the fewest of all sides so far in 2019-20.
  • During the second half Jack Rodwell came on for Sheffield United to make his first Premier League appearance since May 2017 (Chelsea 5-1 Sunderland). Indeed, the midfielder has ended on the winning side just once in his past 27 top-flight appearances (Crystal Palace 0-4 Sunderland – February 2017).

Man City suffers yat another defeat in the hands of Southampton

Adams, who joined Saints from Birmingham City for £15m last July, lobbed goalkeeper Ederson with a first-time strike from 40 yards out after Oleksandr Zinchenko had surrendered possession in midfield. Che Adams scored his first Premier League goal in spectacular style as Southampton withstood a Manchester City barrage to earn the victory in a lively encounter at St Mary’s.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made six changes to the side which thrashed champions Liverpool 4-0 at Etihad Stadium on Thursday, with key playmaker Kevin de Bruyne among those initially rested.

The goal drew an intense reaction from City, as Fernandinho hit the post and the in-form Alex McCarthy kept out David Silva’s header in the aftermath. The visitors rarely let up thereafter but were repeatedly left frustrated by Saints goalkeeper McCarthy, whose one-handed save from Gabriel Jesus in the second half was the pick of several superb stops.

Southampton had chances of their own amid the increasing City pressure but neither Nathan Redmond nor Danny Ings could convert rare opportunities, while Ederson was alert to Stuart Armstrong’s swerving shot. There was to be no repeat of City’s comeback to win the reverse fixture 2-1 in November and defeat leaves Guardiola’s side 23 points behind Liverpool, who beat Aston Villa 2-0 earlier on Sunday.

Harare vendors set to pay US$10 each to space barons as Mupedzanhamo re-opens

Harare vendors set to pay US$10 each to space barons as Mupedzanhamo re-opens. Also set to reopen this week is the Glen View 8 Complex. All informal trading markets have been closed for the past three months as the country underwent a lockdown to halt the spread of Covid-19.

Hundreds of Harare vendors have been fleeced US$10 each by space barons on fake promises they would be allocated vending stalls ahead of the opening of the popular Mupedzanhamo flea market in Mbare this week.

Harare City Council spokesperson Michael Chideme confirmed vendors had been duped by the space barons who were demanding US$10 per person. However, Chideme said the municipality had put in place new regulations including registering returning vendors in line with the Covid-19 regulations.

The new requirements also include the wearing of face masks, registering with the local council, maintenance of high levels of personal hygiene, and maintaining social distancing. “Mupedzanhamo will open this week; we are yet to finalise consultations with the traders at the market. This is the same with the Glen View 8 Complex,” he said.

“We want to avoid problems where in the past, people were paying rent to space barons, prejudicing the council along the way. This time around we want to protect the interests of traders.” Chideme urged vendors to register with the city council and not rely on space barons.

With over 90% of the working population unemployed, most Zimbabweans have turned to informal trading for daily survival. However, the vendors have been left at the mercy of MDC and Zanu PF activists who fleece from them money to operate their vending stalls.

Mary Twala‘s granddaughter and family spokesperson Phumzile Twala has recounted her grandmother’s last few moments, saying her family had hoped that the veteran actress would make a full recovery and are “shattered” at her passing.

Mary died on Saturday morning at Netcare Park Lane Hospital in Johannesburg at the age of 80.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Phumzile said Mary had been in and out of the hospital for several months and struggled with diabetes.

Mary Twala

She said Somizi and her brother were on their way to the hospital to visit Mary and bring her things when they got a call from the doctors telling them to hurry because the star’s health was deteriorating rapidly.

Sadly, they got there just a little too late.

Despite her constant trips in and out of the hospital, the family was hopeful Mary would make a full recovery. Just hours before her passing she was in good spirits and seemed to be on the mend.

“You know that she is old but she was so strong. She had pulled through so many times before that we thought she might be strong enough again.

“I was taking care of her. A day before her passing she was her old self. Doctors said she was up and jolly just 30 minutes before her passing. The doctor told her Somizi was on the way and she was so happy. All of a sudden she slipped away.”

Mary Twala

She said that Somizi and the family were “not OK” and struggling to cope with the news of Mary’s death.

‘They are shattered. We, as a family are still in the grieving stage and everyone has their moments where they break down.”

A memorial for Mary is expected to take place this week but details are yet to be confirmed.
