In a lengthy Instagram post she opened up about the hardships she has faced, not only during her recovery period fighting the virus, however she opened up about the last three years of her life being the most testing period of her life.

Enhle is currently going through a public divorce and public opinion and scrutiny can often times put a strain on some people’s mental well-being.

However the actress is focusing on the more important things in her life right now and that is to beat this virus, among other things

Revealing her diagnosis, she even revealed that people on set at her workplace made fun of her.

“I also tested positive for COVID-19 as careful as I am. They even make fun of me on set. Yesterday was the worst days, I was pretty sure my chest would give in , I gave myself permission to heal and also to ask for help,” she opened up.

Despite the trials and tribulations, Enhle, in high spirits, says this year is her best yet.

“I had to have some real conversations with myself and how ,why, I was forgetting me. I found the answers and when I did life began, 2020 was that year for me . People will loose it but this is my best year. People lie in your names sake. They will cheat, mistreat you, allow others to mistreat you only because you give them permission,” she wrote.

Chanter Tocky Vibes following Tuku’s footsteps

$

Chanter Tocky Vibes following Tuku’s footsteps. In the New Dispensation alone, Mr Vibes has released seven projects — five studio albums, an acoustic compilation and a singles collection — besides uploading videos more often than your crush’s photoshoots. But — though we could place Tocky Vibes against Van Choga’s energy or against Van Choga’s authenticity — one question makes more overall sense: Is Tocky Vibes the next Oliver Mtukudzi?

If Van Choga is a drunken dragon on stage, then Tocky Vibes is an ecological event in the studio. On his latest album, Dhongi neWaya, Tocky Vibes pays his second tribute to the late great Tuku. The previous tribute was a collaboration with Soul Jah Love whom Tuku picked, along with Tocky Vibes, as his favourite young artiste.

Sung over “Shanda” and “Hear Me Lord” keys, “Mudhara Tuku” repeats advice from the African superstar to the 26-year old singer not to listen to people and, equally, advice to sing for the people and to sing for keeps.

Most gatekeepers will jump at any parallel between Tocky and Tuku as blasphemy, so we may well oppose a little mathematics and history to their piety. As if it is not mathemagical enough working out how Tuku did 66 albums in 42 years — a yearly album for each of his 66 years on earth — Tocky casually drops four projects in 2019 alone.

At a conservative rate of three albums per year, Mr Vibes will have recorded 100 albums by the time he turns 60. All creativity, no calculation

The immediate objection here would be: What sort of albums?

Tocky Vibes and Mai Titi

Talking greatness, Tuku is Zimbabwe’s answer to Bob Marley while the usual thing is to look past Tocky Vibes in the pop conversations of the day. But then a righteous parallel necessarily goes back in the day to pick up a Tocky-sized Tuku.

According to Tuku’s day-one, Piki Kasamba, in the 1980s, the Black Spirits was a second-tier band compared to Thomas Mapfumo’s Blacks Unlimited or Zexie Manatsa’s Green Arrows. Whereas fans micromanaged Winky D and Jah Prayzah albums down to the last conspiracy theory in the 2010s, Tocky Vibes albums like Tirabhuru/ Kwatazonke (2016) and Rori (2018) slipped past reviewers’ notice.

All creativity, no calculation makes Tocky Vibes a second-tier artist. Whereas commercially attuned heavy-hitters spread their releases around charts and algorithms, Tocky Vibes works with his raw process in the open. The album title and tracklist for Rori were apparently changing in beta mode at the latest prompt, while the video rollout was unambitiously mixed with new singles.

Tocky

His weaker albums, including the latest one, lack a sense of cohesion and the song selection is thin on stand-out moments. Occasional masterpieces are left as loose singles while the ones that make the album get diluted in a sprawling tracklist.

And then his best work — Chamakuvangu (2018) was by far the album of the year in my book, and Villagers Money Vol. 1 (2019) is a good-to-great effort — comes and goes without a mainstream splash. So the good things we know about Tocky Vibes — originality, versatility, vocal range, penmanship and so on — hardly cohere into one premium package.

No industry for young men

This would not be unfamiliar territory for Samanyanga. We know all the great Tuku songs because he endlessly reprised and reissued them. For example, he released no less than six retrospective compilations since Derby Metcalfe famously took over dragged him after the bag. But how many kept the same energy with the albums his classics arrived on: Nzara (1983) or Was My Child (1995) or Ndega Zvangu (1997) for example?

Tocky Vibes

Can I make a side note here for a second? How many people confuse creativity and visibility, or rather art and business, when it comes to assessing the Tuku legacy.

Some claim that Tuku became great after sungura icons fell to Aids, some claim that Tuku became great after Metcalfe over, some claim he became great after Thomas Mapfumo left for the US. No; I am not buying any of that. Tuku the album artist does not become great in 1998; he is already great in 1978.

To prove that he was always great but we just did not notice, he released as many compilation albums as he released new albums in the 2000s, when he finally had all eyes on him, and each release solidified his status home and away.

In other words, he was playing us for not having played him. Still other words, he had been deepening and broadening all along and now he was rising. It is not hard to picture Tocky Vibes on a major-label compilation few years from now, making you write a PhD about songs you skipped in 2017.

Tocky got nothing on the younger Tuku when it comes to being creatively dope and commercially questionable. Mudhara Piki recalls an era when the Black Spirits played for passion while living hand to mouth, somewhat confirming biographer Shepherd Mutamba’s recollection of a pakadoma encounter with Tuku a decade after the legend had already sung revolutionary classics.

Dhongi neWaya

It is said that an elephant is not weighed down by its ivory but the weight of a band sometimes got too much for the younger Samanyanga.

He would wake up without a band and play through the bad days out of sheer self-belief. Sugar Pie (1988) was reportedly recorded solo, with Tuku playing everything in turn. On Ndega Zvangu (1997), Samanyanga goes toe-to-toe with Steve Makoni for album-length guitar solos, a formula nowhere near the epoch-making Tuku Music that comes a year on.

Wawona (1987) is recorded with a borrowed Zig Zag Band after a band exodus and the gospel album Ndotomuimbira feels like a lonely afterthought. Chamakuvangu equally knows few things about going it alone.

In 2015, he reportedly fired his band for incompetence just before a Kwekwe show and then asked organisers how on earth they expected him to perform without a band. His glory days were just behind him after ditching riddims to explore his own sound.

As showbiz panned to the next trend, Tocky Vibes was dropping career meditations like “Muroyi” and “Bhora Mutambo” infrequent batches of singles that will only make sense in retrospect.

Tuku made vulnerable music too at his lowest, special art to be related with differently from sonically accomplished but spiritually detached songs that entertainers do in their peak years.

Yesterday’s foreign currency auction-rate eased to $68:1

Yesterday’s foreign currency auction-rate eased to $68:1. This growing expertise in price discovery saw the top bid falling to $85, from the $100 in the first auction, $92 in the second and $90 last week. The lowest bid in yesterday’s auction was $40, but the lowest allotted bid was $64.20, with all bidders below that price missing out as higher bidders had exhausted the foreign currency on offer.

The Zimbabwe dollar eased by a modest 4.6 percent to $68.88 from $65.80 in the fourth foreign currency auction yesterday with the range between the top bid and the lowest successful bid falling to $20 as bidders continue to make ever more accurate calculations overpricing.

Successful bidders pay what they offer, so if they manage to bid below the weighted average and still miss the cut off they get a bargain and if they bid above their currency is more expensive, although their bid is guaranteed to be successful.

The small gap between the lowest allotted bid and the weighted average suggests that most bids were in an even tighter range than the top bid suggests, possibly something like $64.20 to $72.

The total number of successful bids amounted to 230, with another 59 rejected, because they were too low or because bidders had some fault in their bid.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe disqualifies bids that are for goods and services not on the priority import lists, with category 1 imports sharing 70 percent of the available currency and category 2 imports sharing the other 30 percent.

Bidders also have to have cleared by deadline their CD1 export forms and their bills of entry from previous imports and will not be allowed to bid if they have sufficient cash in their foreign currency accounts to meet their desired import payments.

The value of total of bids recovered from US$15.8 million last week to US$18.719 million, while successful bids increased to US$15.98 million, up from US$13.6 million last week.

Increasing demand on the auction is seen as growing confidence in the system. Economist and advisor to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Eddie Cross, said although the auction managed to meet industry’s foreign currency requirements, banks are still not coming to the party.

“We are disappointed that banks did not come to the market, again. Foreign exchange supply should not be left to the RBZ. We know that banks are trading foreign currency and they should participate in the auction,” he said.

“In terms of today’s (yesterday) auction, we managed to meet all of the industry’s requirements, and it’s having an impact. Already you can sense that prices are stabilising.”

The increasing shift of industry players to the auction system has dried out activity on the parallel market, which has also helped to contain inflationary pressures as firms no longer ‘forward price’ their goods and services according to a phantom rate.

Commenting on his Twitter handle, industrialist Busisa Moyo, said the foreign currency auction system should move towards a market-determined rate.“The auction is still at infancy but needs to gradually move towards a market rate,” he said.

“A framework where demand for Zimbabwe dollars is high — taxes, duties paid in local dollars will create a desire to sell. This framework doesn’t exist at the moment, but it will come.”

In line with indications that at least 70 per cent of foreign currency will be allocated to industry, the majority of the hard currency in yesterday’s auction went to raw materials, machinery and equipment. These segments accounted for US$8,63 million.

Retail and distribution accounted (including food and beverages) for US$2,47 million, while consumables (including spares, tyres and electricals) accounted for US$1,41 million, and pharmaceuticals and chemicals accounted for US$1,26 million.

Services (including loans, dividends and disinvestments) accounted for US$900 526, while paper and packaging accounted for US$761 500, and fuel, electricity and gas accounted for US$528 200.

Prices of goods and services are expected stabilise in the short-term before declining in the medium to long-term, industrialists and economic analysts have said. President Mnangagwa has noticed that price stability was now returning and few items have risen in price in the last three weeks with the first price reductions, albeit modest, now being seen.

“As Government, we envisage a situation where foreign currency resources and raw materials are improved for the productive sector as this will result in increased availability and affordability of goods as well as the creation of jobs,” said the President.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers Association president, Mr Denford Mutashu, told The Herald that the foreign currency auction system had started well with manufacturers, suppliers and the retail sector accessing a huge chuck of forex.

“We are quite happy with the current price stability on the market that has seen some prices of commodities such as bread being reduced,” he said. Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) chief executive officer, Mr Christopher Mugaga, said Zimbabweans must be patient but that prices would be tracking the auction-rate as stocks were renewed.

“It’s too early to expect the foreign currency auction system to have a full impact within the economy (but) in the medium to long-term, from the fourth quarter of 2020 going forward, we might see the market responding to the auction,” he said. Economist Mr Persistent Gwanyanya said stability has been restored in the market.

“The set-up has stabilised the current system in the country. It has also stabilised the prices in the market to the extent our currency was now under attack and inflation, which is largely linked to the exchange rate volatility, was also going out of hand,” said Mr Gwanyanya.

Already, the forex auction system has helped in rebuilding market confidence, improving access to foreign currency and helping stabilise the exchange rate while speculative activity on the black market could subside significantly.

ED to do a 2-day Hwange project tour

ED to do a 2-day Hwange project tour. The coal sector, which was previously dominated by Hwange Colliery Company Limited, has been on the rise in recent years following the coming in of new players such as Makomo Resources, Zambezi Gas, South Mining and Liberation Mining.

President Mnangagwa is expected to embark on a two-day visit to Hwange starting tomorrow, where he is set to tour a number of projects. President Mnangagwa is expected to officially open South Mining New Coking Project. He will also tour other coal mining companies and assess power generation projects.

Coal Producers Association chairperson, Mr Raymond Mutokonyi said: “This is a historic moment to have the President visit us for two days. We are excited by this as it shows the importance of the sector and leadership will understand our operations better.

“Coal is critical in the energy generation side of the economy. We are a serious enabler to the industry and it is exciting that we have seen a number of players coming on board in the last few years and they are established now.

“We are focusing on value addition now through coke production, which we export and expect to get more forex for the economy.” Businessman and economic analyst, Mr Morris Mpala, said revitalising the coal and energy value chain was strategic for the entire economy.

Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs Minister Richard Moyo said the President’s will activate the province to do more in terms of speeding up the implementation of developmental projects and spur economic growth.

According to the Chamber of Mines Zimbabwe, coal output increased from 2,9 million tonnes in 2017, to 3,1 tonnes in 2018.

The positive trajectory continued in 2019 at a projected four million tonnes. The Chamber has noted that a number of coal projects are expected to come on stream in the outlook, with new investors such as Sunlight Energy, RioZim, among others, expressing interest.

The industry is being weighed down by low coal prices offered by the biggest sole consumer, the Zimbabwe Power Company, inadequate foreign exchange allocations and capital challenges.

President Mnangagwa and his delegation will have a hectic schedule, which will see him get a briefing on the coal and hydrocarbons sector overview at Western Areas before the tour and ground-breaking ceremony.

After the tour, President Mnangagwa will officially launch the South Mining New Coking Project, after which he will visit JinAn/Tutu Coking Coal Project and Hwange Colliery Company’s Chaba Mine. On Friday, the President will tour Dinson Colliery, ZZCC Coke Plant, Zambezi Coal and Gas Mine and Makomo Resources.

He will wrap up his visit by touring the US$10 million 300MW Zimbabwe ZhongXin Electric Energy (ZZEE) power plant where a signing ceremony will be conducted. Once complete, the ZZCC coal-driven power station on the outskirts of Hwange, will contribute 300MW into the national grid.

Rumour: Trucks of police and soldiers spotted in Harare CBD telling people to stay home 10 days from now: Pic. There is news circulating on social media of trucks spotted in Harare CBD announcing that people should finish their job in the coming 10 days as from the eleventh day from today the country will be moving back to lockdown level 1.

There are rumours circulating saying that the country will be forced to move to level 1 of lockdown after the race alarming figures of COVID-19 cases recorded in the past few days. To further fuel the rumour Mnangagwa ally Gokwe Nembudziya MP Mayor Wadyajena said he was in support of President Mnangagwa’s move to announce going back of the country to level 1. Here is what he said…

His advice comes after South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa had imposed a night-time curfew that would be in place from 21:00 to 04:00 banned the selling of alcohol and made it compulsory to wear masks outdoors.

ZANU PF legislator for Gokwe Nembudziya, Justice Mayor Wadyajena has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to ban alcohol and tobacco as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Posting on Twitter this Monday, Wadyajena said: I implore H.E @edmnangagwa to immediately ban & criminalise the sale, possession & consumption of both alcohol & tobacco 🚬 until a COVID cure is found. With local transmissions surging to unprecedented levels, it’s time unpopular decisions are made! We’re too poor to take chances.

But coming back to our story soldiers and police have been prepared for the rumoured 31st July demos and the going back to level 1 lockdown. See picture below

Update on VP Chiwenga’s latest China visit amid health deteriorating issues

$

Update on VP Chiwenga’s latest China visit amid health deteriorating issues. The former army commander flew out of the country on a date not given, raising speculation over his whereabouts after skipping two Cabinet meetings and a Zanu-PF politburo meeting, among other high-profile events. Chiwenga also skipped a meeting between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Provincial Affairs ministers at State House on July 6.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was last week airlifted to China amid reports his troubling health had deteriorated, it has emerged. Presidential spokesperson George Charamba yesterday confirmed that Chiwenga was in the Asian country and would be back “soon”, but could not give details. “He went for his medical check-up. You are asking now when he is almost coming back,” Charamba said.

Asked when Chiwenga was coming back, Charamba said: “No, no I can’t tell you that. I cannot tell you when he is coming back.” Chiwenga has left the country at a time nurses have grounded tools over measly salaries, allowances and poor working conditions, putting the whole health service in turmoil during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He oversees the health cluster. Before his latest departure for China, Chiwenga had been busy visiting several farms across the country to assess the food situation as he is responsible for the food and nutrition cluster.

The former army general has been unwell for some time and last year, he spent close to four months in the Asian country under strict monitoring by the Chinese, Indian and South African medical experts. He came back rejuvenated, despite leaving the country in bad shape which on many occasions triggered speculation over his death.

On his return, Chiwenga immediately plunged into a nasty divorce with his estranged wife, Marry Mubaiwa, accusing her of attempting to kill him while on a hospital bed in South Africa.

He was last seen in public on June 25, more than two weeks ago when he attended an event to commission a farm mechanisation scheme by John Deere at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Harare.

A day earlier, he appeared fit at the burial of national hero Stanley Nleya at the National Heroes’ Acre, where he took time chatting with Zanu-PF secretary for
administration Obert Mpofu and Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri.

It is not clear what the Vice-President is suffering from, but initially, his hands and Mubaiwa’s were swelling and he told hundreds of people gathered at his rural home soon after he led a coup against the late former President Robert Mugabe that the couple had been hit by a rare skin disease.

There was speculation last week that Chiwenga skipped key party and government meetings because of deep-rooted fights with Mnangagwa. Government and Zanu-PF have tried to downplay the factional infighting in the ruling party, which party insiders claim is real, despite public denials by top officials.

NetOne CEO: Only President Mnangagwa can fire me. Muchenje was recently dismissed from the State-run company but is challenging the termination to be declared null and void by the courts.

Embattled NetOne chief executive Lazarus Muchenje has again approached the High Court challenging his dismissal where he claims in papers that only President Emmerson Mnangagwa has the power to dismiss him from his post.

He argues Mnangagwa is the only person who can fire him from his job. Muchenje is suing Netone vice-chairperson Susan Mutangadura, board members, Winston Makamure, Ranagarirai Mavhunga, Beulah Chirume, Douglas Mamvura, and NetOne.

He also wants the NetOne board to be interdicted from publishing his illegal dismissal or the termination of his contract and advertising his position. Makamure wrote and served Muchenje with the dismissal letter dated July 9.

However, Muchenje is arguing that the letter is ‘illegal’ and has ‘no force of law’ because Makamure is not an employee of NetOne and did not demonstrate that he has the authority to write the said termination on behalf of the company.

“Mandatory provisions of Section 11 of the Public Entities Corporate Governance which governs his dismissal had not been complied with,” he argued. “The applicant (Muchenje) cannot be dismissed on notice as purported in the said letter in terms of his contract.”

“Makamure and NetOne have not demonstrated that the necessary President’s prior endorsement to dismiss the applicant has been sought and have accordingly acted arbitrarily, illegal and irrationally.” Muchenje fears that since the printing of the next Government Gazette issue is imminent, his dismissal could be published.

“In the event that the respondents are not interdicted from giving effect to illegal dismissal letter which is illegal, arbitrary and lacks the President’s endorsement, the applicant will clearly suffer irreparable harm to his clear right from further illegal processes,” he said.

The 6-time Formula One (F1) world champion Lewis Hamilton has showered praises on Zimbabwean chemical engineer and trackside fluid engineer for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team Stephanie Travers after she became the first black woman to stand on the Formula One podium on Sunday.

Travers was receiving Lewis Hamilton‘s Styrian Grand Prix trophy after he won the race. He had so much praise for his teammate and here is what he had to say…

I wanted to post this because it’s such an important moment. This is Stephanie who is one of my teammates. She is one of our trackside fluid engineers. On Sunday, she became the first black woman to stand on the podium in Formula 1 history.

This is an amazing achievement and I just wanted to acknowledge her for her hard work, positivity, and passion for her job. Like most of the jobs in our sport, they are in high demand, and Stephanie was selected out of over 7000 applicants for her role.

Steph said she wants to inspire young black children, and children of colour to believe that they can do it too, and I couldn’t agree more. Put your mind to it, and you can be anything you want to be.

So whilst I really appreciate all of the congratulations, I wanted to take the opportunity to lift her up, and share them with her. #manifest #hardwork #bethechange

Uzalo’s latest episode, which aired on SABC 1 on Tuesday, 14 July 2020, saw Sbonelo’s wedding being delayed by the car hijacking at the church. The delay caused for Sphilile’s family to walk into Sbonelo and Nonka’s wedding, bringing to light the fact that he was marrying both women on the same day. Devastated by the revelation, Nonka stormed out of the church, leaving Sbonelo to deal with Sphilile.

Despite her reservations, Sphilile decided that she still wanted to marry Sbonelo, and committed to being a part of the polygamous marriage. Actress Jesesi Mungoshi aka Neria challenges govt

Actress Jesesi Mungoshi aka Neria challenges govt. Renowned actress Jesesi “Neria” Mungoshi has challenged the Government to support the local film industry for it to flourish.

Neria, as she is popularly known, was speaking during a visit by Acting Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Paul Mavima and Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire at her Chitungwiza residence yesterday. The Ministry paid a courtesy call to the legendary actress and donated some foodstuff as part of the Covid-19 relief fund that was launched last well.

The relief initiative is aimed at bailing out artists and sports personalities during the Covid-19 lockdown induced period. And in her appreciation message, Jesesi said it is time the Government takes the idea of funding the film industry seriously.

“We can only grow when our projects are being supported by the government. You mentioned my legendary status but what is the Government doing to that, back in 2007 I addressed the media on the same issue when they came chasing this name Neria.

“If the Government is supporting us, the corporate world will also come in. I made this call after a tour of the Netherlands and we were discussing how their government supports the film industry.

“So they (were) getting about 10 per cent of the whole budget and if that happens to our industry, it will go a long way,” she said. Jesesi said as it stands, there is ‘no film industry’ in Zimbabwe. She said a number of actors in the country are living a life that does not reflect their status and called for action for that to be addressed by the relevant authorities.

Jesesi said it is unfortunate that a number of youths see her as a rich person following her role in the film Neria and other films she has featured. “We can’t really say we have a film industry in Zimbabwe if you had one you would have seen a nice car parked outside.

Jesesi

“Young people see someone with a lot of money when they see but that is not the case. This name Mungoshi, in the eyes of many people, is associated with good life. “Right now my phone was stolen when I got into a Kombi but you are here saying you have visited your legendary icon.

“So I think the government should come in and support this industry for us to make it and live a meaningful life. This goes to writers and filmmakers, I think musicians and sportspeople are better.”

Jesesi also spoke of how Covid-19 forced her to delay some of her projects. “Before lockdown, I had some projects lined up. I had received a phone from Nigerian producers who wanted to work with me and I was supposed to sign a contract on the 29th of March and they had made me the main character but it has been delayed.

Gogo

“It’s unfortunate but the good thing is it’s in the pipeline because they have sent me a birthday message and I hope to continue with it when normalcy returns,” she said.

Minister Mavima described Jesesi as a national treasure and that they saw it fit to kick start the bailout initiative with her. “The name Neria represents a legend in many ways and that film continues to be a benchmark in the country.

“The good thing is we came to a place where legends live, talk of the late Charles Mungoshi that is why we are here. We came here as a government, not that you are in need but just as our efforts to help artists and for the people to know the importance of our artists,” said Minister Mavima.

Mungoshi

Deputy Minister Machakaire said his ministry would take into consideration the issue of sponsoring the film industry. “We will definitely look into that. We listen to what our artists say and as a government, we will go and sit down to see how we can help. “A viable film industry is also good for the country,” she said.

Shurugwi man battling for life after being beaten by hitmen hired by the wife. A 20-year-old woman has been arrested after she reportedly hired hitmen including her lover to kill her husband to reportedly pave way for her and her lover to get married, The Herald reports.

Dereck Mudzengi is admitted at Shurugwi District Hospital where he is being treated after he sustained serious injuries after he was attacked by his wife’s new lover and his friends with machetes and iron bars and was saved by passersby who heard his screams.

ZRP has confirmed the arrest of Priscilla Chiyavayava, Mudzengi’s wife and confiscated her phone which they said has incriminating evidence. Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko said: I can confirm the arrest of a 20-year-old woman, Priscilla Chiyavayava, who allegedly connived with some three men, among them her alleged boyfriend, to attack her husband.

A source privy to the incident spoke to the publication and said: It seems this was a plan she had already hatched with her boyfriend because she even indicated in one of her text messages to the boyfriend that the husband had $150 on him and they should steal it before killing him.

Chiyavayava’s boyfriend Justin Mpfeka is on the run and ZRP has launched a manhunt for him and the 2 friend only identified as Nyasha and Lloyd who also attacked Mudzengi together with Mpfeka.

Joy as Kuwait human trafficker jailed for 10 years. It is the state’s case that: Between December 2015 and March 2016, Marodza unlawfully and intentionally recruited unsuspecting victims to Kuwait using Facebook and WhatsApp platforms. He misrepresented to the women that housemaids in Kuwait were paid handsomely, before sending them pictures of some girls he said were well paid in the Middle East country.

A Harare man James Marodza who was part of the syndicate that infamously trafficked women to Kuwait where they were plunged into prostitution and slavery has been jailed for 10 years after a Harare Magistrate Mrs Makwande found him guilty on 6 counts of human trafficking, The Herald reports.

The victims sent their medical examination certificates and police clearances to Marodza and communication was through a WhatsApp number. In sentencing, Marodza Makwande said: The Government had to intervene and send people to investigate the conditions that the women were living in while in a foreign land.

The Government had to make sure that the women returned home by processing temporary travel documents through the embassy. This means that he (Marodza) prejudiced the Government and also left the country in the spotlight over the offences. That alone shows the seriousness of the offence that he is facing and it calls for imprisonment.

Meanwhile, one of their human trafficking syndicate members was recently released from prison during the presidential amnesty last month.
