Chinese Embassy dismisses US trafficking report

Chinese Embassy dismisses US trafficking report. In a statement, the embassy said the accusations were baseless and aimed at tarnishing relations between Zimbabwe and China.

The Chinese Embassy in Harare has dismissed claims by the United States in its 2020 Trafficking in Persons Report that some Chinese companies operating in the country are using forced labour.

The Trafficking in Persons Report is published by the US State Department annually and has been produced since 2000. In its latest report, the US accused China of not meeting the minimum standards to prevent human trafficking.

“We take note of the claims made by the United States government in its 2020 Trafficking in Persons Report, that some Chinese nationals were in forced labour in Zimbabwe and some Chinese companies employed practices indicative of forced labour.”

“We want to make it clear that this is a groundless accusation designed to taint China’s image and sabotage the good relations between China and Zimbabwe.

“The relevant department of the United States government should focus more on protecting the human rights of its own citizens and resolving its own problems at home, particularly under the current tough circumstances, and stop peddling falsehoods about other countries and their people.

“The exchanges between the peoples of China and Zimbabwe and the practical cooperation between the two countries are indestructible; it will not be affected by any smear,” said the embassy. The US report was published last month and profiles every country.

Hope fading fast for Nakamba’s Aston Villa

Hope fading fast for Nakamba’s Aston Villa. Marvelous Nakamba’s English Premiership football stint with Aston Villa is teetering on the brink of relegation as the alarm bells ring loudest at Villa Park, just one season after they had returned to the top-flight.

Villa are precariously sitting second from the bottom with relegation looming from one of the world’s elite football leagues following an unconvincing campaign during the 2019/2020 season, which has already been won by Liverpool.

With no margin for error in the last two games, Villa needs maximum points to revive their slim chances of survival. They face in-form Arsenal tomorrow night at home before travelling to West Ham on the last day of the campaign on Sunday.

Nakamba’s arrival at Villa Park sparked a flurry of social media discussions and huge interests among the wider Zimbabwean community based mostly in the UK and across the globe, as they intimately posted solidarity messages of support and gratitude for being the only Zimbabwean export at the moment playing at that highest level of top-flight football.

This was a moment for great hope and stoicism for the Zimbabwe Warriors’ partisanship brigade that was wishing to witness the exploits of our own “King Marve” playing against some of the greatest footballers in world football.

His debut game in a Carabao Cup was a real toast as his deft control and a nutmeg on a sprawling opponent excited even our own most popular fan, Chris “Romario” Musekiwa, who went in a frenzy with Nakamba’s cameo as a substitute.

The Aston Villa crusade to stay in the top-flight football could have been dealt a huge blow way back in October as they struggled to post decent results from the onset and alarmingly, their collective defensive duties crumbled without bravery.

The English Premiership is indeed one of the best, exciting and yet unpredictable leagues in Europe as the dominance of the Spanish La Liga is premised on the top three teams (Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid), with just a handful of other teams making up to eight perennial contenders of the same fixtures.

The Italian Serie A league has lost its glamour as the pulling power shifted to the English Premiership that has a far bigger global reach than all these leagues including the German Bundesliga, the Jupiler in Belgium, the French Ligue 1 and all other smaller European leagues.

This great opportunity to represent Zimbabwe in the English Premiership was an arduous journey of the most hard-working spirited footballer but, looking at the log table and the relegation-bound Aston Villa’s position engulfs our hegemonic power of partisanship support for Nakamba into flames. Nakamba’s demise at Villa Park will have a huge dent on our national game without doubt as we ponder on his next move and the image it will have on the quality of our local talent in English football where the likes of Peter Ndlovu, Bruce Grobbelaar and Benjani Mwaruwaru were impressive.

One fact of life with the English Premiership is that it has become so intense, highly competitive, exciting and pulverising. It has become a league where individual form counts less for collective nail-biting defensive duties of containing opponent attacks, to grind decent results that will steady the ship in murky waters.

This is one shortfall on the spreadsheet of Aston Villa’s defence. They failed to produce decent attacks from wide areas usually utilised by their two wing backs who should be pivotal in starting play from the back and progress the build-up in further wider areas of the opponents, encourage and allow their midfield to consolidate their possession and attacking forward play in central midfield or the final third of attacking.

Their central defenders were shaky and less confident in possession of the ball, they were willing to endure hard knocking battles without the ball but, this one stained decadent quality that is no longer consistent with the modern game more so in the English Premiership.

Top English Premiership central defenders are good ball players and that is hugely evident when one watches the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Gomez and Matip of Liverpool who are the champions of the 2019-20 season. By carefully analysing the teams below Liverpool, this is the minimum expectation of the back four that includes a top goalkeeper and in Villa’s case, they had more than three keepers in this campaign.

The stubborn facts of the modern game are all evident for us to see when we take the Villa situation as a case study of how they failed in the English Premiership, much to our disappointment as Nakamba became exposed in their defensive midfield role that was less expansive in starting play from the back and attempt to use the wing-backs progressing play in wide areas of the pitch where Villa lacked so much quality and confidence to stretch the game as opposed to their one-way dimension of using their talisman Jack Grealish who was the most fouled player in the league.

That tells you a lot about such a faulty strategy that became too obvious to every Tom, Dick and Harry playing against them every week. The pattern was premeditated in every possession build up from the back, one or two passes amongst themselves then, the third pass was earmarked for Grealish and the next thing was a foul to stop him carrying the ball forward.

Villa were a one-man team all day long and this epitomised their glaring lack of quality in their squad. A couple of games where Grealish didn’t feature due to injuries, the performances dropped and the obvious became evident that their star player was out due to injury.

When one looks at other teams that have managed to build good squads in those areas of defensive duties from the goalkeeper right to the defensive midfielders, they’ve done so with greater insight and tactical masterclass planning. Wolves, Leicester City and Sheffield United are some of the best examples of how to compete in the English Premiership.

Nakamba’s verdict is on the big screen as his adventure in the English Premiership comes to a halting dilemma, a comeuppance of failed English Premiership survival that stalks every top footballer whose signature is on a massive financial undertaking. Nakamba’s situation was made worse by lack of forward play, offensive tactical indulgence and goal scoring stats or attempts.

This severely handicapped his expected performance since he had performed well in the UEFA Champions League with former club Club Brugge in Belgium.

Adapting to the English Premiership has become a tough journey to most footballers and Nakamba is not an exception. This is the sad reality of what awaits any top footballer who steps foot in these shores.

The intensity of the game is nerve-wracking

Bulawayo preacher centrally locks MANH00D of cheating married man. The Mpopoma-based preacher who leads Christ Life Generation Church made headlines after a man (name withheld) who he had locked force-marched his wife to the prophet’s house after the woman had allegedly consulted Dube over her husband’s penchant for sleeping out.

Bulawayo-born preacher Mduduzi Dube, popularly known as Black Elisha pulled off another first in the second largest city after “centrally locking” a married cheating man.

After some protracted negotiations with the couple, the preacher eventually unlocked the man, a development that has become the talk of town. While the development attracted mixed feelings, with some taking to social media saying Dube’s actions were ungodly and unChristian, the preacher has stuck to his guns, describing the method as the best way to safeguard the sanctity of marriage.

“It was a revelation given to me by God, this is a way of securing one’s marriage and it brings respect and true love to the marriage institution,” Dube told Daily News on Sunday. Married people of all ages have been visiting his house seeking assistance.

The youthful preacher, who calls his procedure ‘The Spiritual Padlock’ feels there is nothing wrong with what he is doing. “People will always talk whether you do the right thing or bad things, that is society for you.

“People will always judge but we can’t stop doing what is good and we can’t let evil prevail over good,” Dube said, adding that his “padlock” was holy and spiritual. “I don’t use anything except the Word. I have helped many people from Bulawayo and even outside, they can testify to that.”

The youthful preacher further noted that he is using the “Spiritual Padlock” for many other things including unlocking destinies, businesses, fruits of the womb and to save marriages.

“This is backed by Mathew 16 vs 19,” he says. Dube said while his critics have suddenly focused on the “padlock” issue only, people should also not forget that among other things he is endowed with a rare gift of deliverance and healing.

Danger as most of Bulawayo prisons contains COVID-19 outbreak. This ZPCS has embarked on a mass testing exercise for everyone at the prison and disinfecting the complex as it scaled up measures to contain the coronavirus.

The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) has reported no further coronavirus (Covid-19) cases at its Bulawayo prison after four inmates and one prison officer recently tested positive for the deadly pandemic.

While ZPCS spokesperson superintendent Mayah Khanyezi could not shed light on how the victims might have contracted the virus, she said everything was under control. “The situation is normal, we haven’t reported any incident since then, everything is under control.” This comes as the prisons service has banned visits to its premises nationwide.

Zimbabwe continues to record a high number of Covid-19 cases with returnees, particularly from South Africa, United Kingdom and Botswana comprising the highest number of new infections.

The development has seen President Emmerson Mnangagwa hinting that the country might soon revert to stringent lockdown measures if cases continue to spike at this rate. As at July 17, 2020, Zimbabwe had 1 420 confirmed cases, including 438 recoveries and 24 deaths. The country has so far carried out 99 701 tests (59 606 RDT and 40 095 PCR).

Village boys: Mnangagwa twins spotted at their father’s cattle kraal in Kwekwe. After a run-in with the police and being mentioned in the COVID-19 scandal the Mnangagwa boys decided to take a break from all the pressure and breathe fresh air which we all love.

The sons of the President of Zimbabwe has of late been making headlines and mostly for the wrong reasons. Today we had an article of the one Tarirai Mnangagwa we is being accused of threatening a Zesa worker by firing gunshots into the air. But the twins always try to avoid making headlines for wrong reasons they seem to be the only sons of the President who are living up to be perfect sons.

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sons have vowed that they will strike a different note from the Mugabe family, known for ostentatious profligacy and greed. Collins and Sean Mnangagwa, the 30-year-old twins from the president’s marriage to Auxilia, 54, said they had grown up without the wealth that surrounded the children of the former leader and so were more down to earth.

“I don’t even drink champagne and my watch cost $120,” said Sean, an engineer — a reference to a video posted on social media showing Chatunga Mugabe, 21, pouring Armand de Brignac Gold champagne over a $60,000 watch.

The boys were spotted at their father’s farm in Kwekwe where they found time to take pictures in the cattle’s kraal. Check the picture below

ED’s spokesperson Charamba reveals Khupe’s plan against Chamisa

ED’s spokesperson Charamba reveals Khupe’s plan against Chamisa. Charamba made the stunning revelations on Sunday during an exchange with MDC Alliance secretary for elections Jacob Mafume.

George Charamba, who is the Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications), has hinted that the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa will soon be interdicted from using the “MDC ” brand by the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe.

Mafume had mocked ZANU PF and its leaders for allegedly trying to create a coalition government with Khupe’s MDC-T. Mafume had said: Organised represents what you are! You cannot take a defeated ruling party, a defeated quisling opposition. And hope to create something. As your VP said a bottle store and bus operator cannot run a government, without a lecture from the white men…

Charamba, in typically abrasive fashion, hit back at Mafume, telling him that Khupe has taken over the opposition party and very soon, Chamisa will lose even the name of the party. Charamba retorted: Except you have no party while pretending to be in organized opposition!!! Khupe amhanya nechinhu!! (she is now in the driving seat). Very soon you will be interdicted from using MDC-Anything!!! Watch the space!!!

Khupe

Since the controversial March Supreme Court ruling which declared that Chamisa was illegitimate, Khupe has become the darling of State media and her party has since won a string of court cases against Chamisa.

Chamisa Mamombe

Khupe has been able to seize the party headquarters, the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House or Harvest House with the assistance of state security, and she has also fired several MDC Alliance MPs and councillors despite the fact that her party lost heavily to Chamisa during the 2018 elections.

Ntsiki Mazwai accuses DJ Fresh of rape

$

Black Twitter Twitter is divided over reports that DJ Fresh has applied for a court interdict to force the controversial poet and singer Ntsiki Mazwai to take down her tweets labelling him a rapist.

A hashtag #SueUsAll is being used against a trend that attempts to silence the voices of victims and prevents rape survivors from coming out and reporting GBV and rape miscreants.

But, some are divided over the hashtag. They claim court interdicts are the best protection people can use to stop the spread of lies and misinformation until proven guilty, especially when false rape accusations are made.

In this case, Ntsiki Mazwai is not the rape victim, rather, on a media post dated 4 September 2019, through the hashtag #metoo and #nameyourrapist, women came out about their rape experiences using Ntsiki’s DMs.

She, in turn, would post the screenshots on her timeline.

It happens that there is an unnamed individual thought to be DJ Fresh’s ex-girlfriend Penny Lebyane who used the hashtag and opened upabout an incident when the famed DJ forced himself on her.

For the record, Penny Lebyane has never come out in open about the allegations, neither has she claimed to have used Ntsiki’s #metoo hashtag to label DJ Fresh a rapist.

Penny Lebyane, in the original tweet from her timeline, had alleged that her ex-boyfriend was dating numerous young girls, but did not name DJ Fresh.

Hence, DJ Fresh says it was apparent that Nstiki Mazwai published the allegation without verifying the facts and wants her to retract the statement.

This has however angered not only Mzansi Twitter but the ANC Women’s league. The group issued a statement last week on 12 July 2020 condemning DJ Fresh’s move to silence victims.

UK secures 90mn doses of possible COVID-19 vaccines

Britain has signed deals to secure 90 million doses of two possible COVID-19 vaccines from an alliance of Pfizer Inc and BioNTech, and French group Valneva, the business ministry said on Monday.

Britain secured 30 million doses of the experimental BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, and a deal in principle for 60 million doses of the Valneva vaccine, with an option of 40 million more doses if it was proven to be safe, effective and suitable, the ministry said.

With no working vaccine against COVID-19 yet developed, Britain now has three different types of vaccine under order and a total of 230 million doses potentially available.

“This new partnership with some of the world’s foremost pharmaceutical and vaccine companies will ensure the UK has the best chance possible of securing a vaccine that protects those most at risk,” business minister Alok Sharma said.

The deals follow a previously announced agreement with AstraZeneca for the firm to produce 100 million doses of its potential vaccine being developed in partnership with the University of Oxford.

Britain said it was the first such deal which Pfizer and BioNTech had agreed for the supply of their vaccine, which is being tested in early to mid stage trials.

The firms are aiming to make up to 100 million doses by the end of this year and potentially more than 1.2 billion doses by end of 2021, if the vaccine is successful.

It uses the so-called messenger RNA approach, in contrast to the more traditional, inactivated whole virus vaccine being developed by Valneva.

Valneva’s potential vaccine is still in pre-clinical trials, and the company is aiming to move into clinical trials by the end of 2020.

Britain also said on Monday it had secured treatments containing COVID-19-neutralising antibodies from AstraZeneca to protect people who can’t be vaccinated.

MDC-T appoints new chief whips

MDC-T appoints new chief whips. The announcement was made by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Cde Tsitsi Gezi. Ms Mpariwa (Proportional Representation) will be deputised by Makoni Central representative Mr David Tekeshe.

The MDC-T has appointed Ms Paurina Mpariwa as the party’s Chief Whip in the National Assembly taking over from Mr Prosper Mutseyami who was recalled from parliament last month.

“I have to inform the House that Honourable Paurina Mpariwa has been appointed as the new National Assembly Chief Whip for the MDC-T party replacing the former MP, Honourable Prosper Mutseyami. Consequently, in terms of Section 151 (f) of the Constitution, Honourable Mpariwa becomes a Member of the Standing Rules and Orders Committee.

“She will be deputised by Honourable D. Tekeshe who replaces Honourable Nomathemba Ndlovu who was also recalled by the MDC-T party,” Cde Gezi said. In Senate, the MDC-T has appointed Mr Tichinani Mavetera as the new Senate Chief Whip taking over from Ms Lillian Timveous, who was also recalled from Parliament.

Ms Mpariwa and Mr Mavetera automatically become members of the Standing Rules and Orders Committee. The duty of chief whips is to secure the attendance of members of a party for the purpose of voting and all other necessary occasions where attendance of the party’s MPs is crucial.

The MDC-T led by Dr Thokozani Khupe has recalled nine senators and 12 National Assembly representatives following a Supreme Court ruling that made her the legitimate leader of the opposition party.

The ruling dethroned Mr Nelson Chamisa who had illegally taken over the leadership of the party following the death of founder president Morgan Tsvangirai. The recalled MPs were nominated by the MDC-T to fill seats won by the umbrella MDC-Alliance, formed as an electoral pact between several political parties to contest the 2018 elections.

They were all recalled in terms of a constitutional provision that declares seats held by members of the party that sponsored them in the last election become vacant if the party writes to the Speaker of the Senate President to declare the persons no longer represent that party.

Zimbabwe Open University assures students on COVID-19 safety

Zimbabwe Open University assures students on COVID-19 safety. The institution said it was working towards shifting its Mashonaland West examination centre from Chinhoyi Training Centre to another venue after students expressed concern over sharing the same facility with quarantined returnees.

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) has put in place measures to guarantee the safety of its staff members and students who are writing their end of semester examinations at all its regional centres.

When The Herald visited the Chinhoyi Training Centre on Friday, which is also the provincial quarantine centre for returning residents, strict adherence to the World Health Organisation (WHO) lockdown regulations was being observed. Areas being used by candidates and those in quarantine were clearly demarcated.

The students said although the institution had put in place safety measures to ensure they were not exposed to Covid-19, the risk of contracting the disease was still high.

ZOU’s acting director of communications, marketing and public relations, Mr Stewart Mandiwanza, confirmed plans to move the regional examination centre.

“We will be moving our Mashonaland West regional examination centre to probably one of the local schools in Chinhoyi. We are still working with the acting regional director and the Ministry of Health and Child Care on the way forward.

“Mashonaland West is the only region that is going to shift its examination centre out of all the 10 centres.”

Mr Mandiwanza said other regions who used campuses that were designated as quarantine centres looked for alternative centres before examinations. “Harare region, which used to administer its examinations at Belvedere Teachers College is using City Sports Centre,” he said.

George Charamba: Stop the 31st July demos and wait for 2023 elections

George Charamba: Stop the 31st July demos and wait for 2023 elections. POLITICAL parties that are trying to resurrect their sinking fortunes through the church disguised negotiation forums should wait for the 2023 elections as President Mnangagwa is presently focused on developmental issues, his spokesperson Mr George Charamba has said.

This comes as some church organisations, particularly the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), have been trying to bring political party leaders to the negotiating table with a series of meetings that are meant to culminate in the formation of a transitional government.

The church-initiated dialogue also comes at a time when the country’s opposition parties are in a state of disarray due to infighting, something that Mr Charamba said exposes the initiative as a scheme to give a kiss of life to the MDC Alliance led by Mr Nelson Chamisa.

Mr Charamba reiterated that the Government will not be part of any negotiating forum outside the Political Actors Dialogue (Polad), a multi-party liaison platform that includes all political parties and which has yielded results since its establishment.

“I am not aware of a request or invitation extended to the President for a church-brokered interaction of political parties outside of the already established Polad platform. I can’t see the President running with the hares and hunting with the hounds. He is the creator of Polad, it is a consensus-building platform and we can’t continue to go for forum shopping as if the problems of this country will be solved by multiplying forums that don’t build anything,” said Mr Charamba.

He said what was disconcerting from the so-called church-led negotiations forum was that it was in pursuance of an agenda to have President Mnangagwa meet with Mr Chamisa.  “The message to Chamisa is very clear, if you feel like joining in the national discourse, come to Polad unconditionally. There are no big egos, there are no small egos. It is elastic and can accommodate all sentiments, big or small.

“We can’t keep telling men of the cloth, over and over again that there is a long-standing invitation for all political parties to join the dialogue, the parameters of which have been established. What we seem to be getting from the persistent calls from the church as represented by Mtata and company is not so much to get national dialogue but one of trying to broker bilateral interaction between two political players, but more critically, when you look at the other side of the bilateral meeting and the problems they have, you are tempted to conclude that this is, in fact, a rescue package to a stressed political party that is wrapped under the cloth of lofty good intentions for a national dialogue.

“We reject that and they know it, that’s our position and there is nothing to gain in asking for what has been rejected. If Chamisa wants, let him join Polad, if not let him wait for 2023, thus, the whole idea of thinking that he can, whether through church leaders or through street action, he can smuggle himself into government, smuggle himself into some form of arrangement is futile,” said Mr Charamba.

Zimbabwe heads to the next election in three years’ time but outside that, the opposition, some churches and vigilante groups have been working around the clock to form a national transitional authority and subvert the will of the people as demonstrated in the 2018 polls that were won by President Mnangagwa.

Mr Charamba said Mr Chamisa and his handlers must stop dreaming of smuggling themselves into government through either covert or overt operations as that would be met with equal force.

“We notice that he (Chamisa) is now talking about a pre-election and post-election arrangement, whatever that means, itself a paradox, which is not an act of genius but an act of confusion. If he thinks he is going to get something by going through a circuitous and convoluted way, he is wasting his time. He has to join Polad or wait for 2023. Anything else is off the table,” said Mr Charamba.

Recently, President Mnangagwa warned some rogue non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trade unions, churches and some foreign embassies against destabilising prevailing peace, unity and harmony through dabbling in politics, saying the ruling party will not allow such conduct.

Singer embarrassed after guest walk away during his performance

Singer embarrassed after guest walk away during his performance. I have been longing for this opportunity to share my story with you as a Chimurenga artiste plying his trade across in South Africa.

I reside in Tzaneen in Limpopo province where many people know me by the stage name Shapiro. While it is difficult to make a breakthrough for many artistes plying their trade in foreign lands, we are trying our best to ensure we put Zimbabwe on the world map In my case, I have seen quite a lot both locally and across the Limpopo where experiences have made me strong.

To find out about my vision, future plans and career in general, read on…

BRIEF PROFILE
My real name is Shepherd Chimbare. I was on the 9th of June 1986 to Solomon Chimbare and Locadia Marashe who who died in 2003.

In fact, I was born in a family of five (three boys and two girls) and I am the third born.

The first born is called Luke Chimbare and he is followed by Winert Chimbare, then myself followed by Patience Chimbare.

The last born is Agrippa Chimbare. I did my primary school at Muteve Primary then went to Mutasa Secondary school in Manicaland.

I sat for my final Ordinary Level examinations at Liebenberg High in Chivhu since we transferred as life was very tough for us.

Besides music, I’m a truck driver and I sometimes use my instruments for hire. I’m also into agriculture. I keep chicken and pigs.

VISION
As a Chimurenga artiste, my vision is to keep the Chimurenga genre up because I see a lot of people abandoning it. Musically, I can safely say I was born an artist.

By that I mean everywhere I heard music playing it would speak a lot in me. I grew up having a small guitar I used to play day and night. I saw myself as an artist before people came to tell me about it.

PERSEVERANCE
The fact that music is my life, I know that I don’t have to give up no matter how hard it is.

I am a hard-working man who doesn’t only rely on music, therefore my side hustles keep me strong enough to keep myself focused. Instead of searching for sponsorship which I know is hard to get, I can support myself.

As for my role models, I love Thomas Mapfumo, Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso and Sulumani Chimbetu, then of course Jah Prayzah. I believe in being an independent artiste, therefore I make sure I don’t borrow anyone’s equipment.

I can safely say I was inspired by Thomas Mapfumo. It is for that reason that I would like to emulate him because his music is traditional and I also want my Zimbabwean roots to be recognised.

However, I did get Mukanya’s blessing or permission to do Chimurenga music since it is difficult to get in touch with big names when you are new in the industry.

I’m praying to get in touch with him so we can have a chat.

CHIMURENGA LOVE
Growing up, I have always been a fan of Chimurenga music guru Thomas Mapfumo.

Seeing and hearing about their stories touring all over the world made me so strong to such an extent that I always told my fellows I want to board a plane touring all around.

My friends would laugh at me as they were always laughing at me which sometimes made me angry. I continued learning from music greats and I kept my dream alive.

GROWTH
So in short, I can safely say passion for music started in the year 1998 when I was 12 years old.

My brother, Luke Chimbare is the one who showed me the way. I continued with my dream even after I relocated to South Africa where I have settled well. In South Africa, I had my first show in the year 2018 in Limpopo province.

My music was first played at Munghana Lonene FM located in Limpopo, then Radio Zimbabwe afterwards. I posted a video on social media of me and my crew practising then after a few days someone decided to give us a call because he had a function.

SUSTENANCE
On whether music is my source, I would say it doesn’t benefit me a lot to focus only on music.

I have realised that one has to have other things to do besides it. It is during such trying times of the Covid-19 era that artists who had no side hustles are struggling a lot because since there are no shows.

Music generally is a hobby. However, music helped me to focus more on important stuff so that I set an example to the youths.

LOVE LIFE
Regarding my love life, it’s a bit complicated but I have embraced it.

Currently, I’m a single parent of three children – two boys (Luke and Ashley) and a girl, Tashinga.

I love my children and they also inspire me to work hard even in music though I am not in a competition but just to entertain.

MARKETING
Like any other artiste, I have financial challenges in marketing my stuff. According to the technology which is getting better and better every day, I now do my marketing online.

It’s unfortunate that I’m not doing any shows at the moment because of the Covid-19. We will resume shows soon as the Covid-19 pandemic seems to be receding. I can also do online shows which is what a number of artists are doing nowadays if I find a platform to do it.

WORST SHOW

In the year 2018, I had a show which I got from a friend. He advised me to bring my kit and we will pay for it but didn’t at the end. The worst part is that I had a few people who came to support me.

A lot of people went to the nearby stage were a popular South Africa artiste was performing. I ended up getting cross and honestly that was my first worst show ever since.

MEMORABLE SHOW
Regarding my best show, oh yes I had a very productive show in the year 2018. It was at GreenHouse in Phalaborwa, South Africa.

The house was very full. At the end of the show, I had a chat with Mr Lumba from Kruger National Park who I didn’t know was there. He really enjoyed a lot.

DISCOGRAPHY
Currently, I am working on new album which is set to be released next month.

I will provide full information about it as time goes. To date, I have one album titled Chivanhu Chedu released in 2017. It compiles of seven tracks.

As someone who started on his own from scratch, I have managed to have my own instruments and transport. I started with just a single guitar and a keyboard which then multiplied and got me where I am today.

MANAGEMENT
My manager is Tichaona Mushokori under Seke Mutema Music Stable, also known as “Tich Mushokori”. Mr Mushokori is my hero. A hardworking and understanding man who is always by my side.

He knows all the needs and wants of an artist. I feel very lucky and blessed to have him, “May God bless you sir!”

COVID-19 ROLE
I strongly believe artistes can play a very important role in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The fact a lot of people listen to us, this helps to create an awareness through our music.

I’m also willing to spread Covid-19 awareness. I’ll do anything in my power just to protect my fellow Zimbabweans and the rest of the human tribe. Together we can conquer!! In my own capacity, the least I’m doing at the moment is just sending video clips and voice notes to my fans just encouraging them to be strong.

I really wish I could do more. For the fans around my community, I once delivered food parcels. It wasn’t much but to someone who was stranded it meant a lot.

ADVICE
I would like to advise my fellow Zimbabweans to have personal savings for the future. Do not stand on one place because there are a lot of free places out there. All in all it’s very good to plough back to the community. I would also say be someone who appreciates the little you have!!

On a parting shot, I would like to thank God for my talent. Secondary, I would like to thank Solomon Mutema, Mr and Mrs Maponga,Elphas Green,Patrick Sithole, Musungwa family inxuding Patience Chimbare.

To my band members I am humbled. I would also love to give all the credits to H-Metro and lastly but not least the man behind everything, Mr Tichaona Mukoshori alongside Seke Mutema Music Stable. Special thanks to all who take their precious time listening to my music. I love you all.
