Another school closed after recording 10 COVID-19 cases

Another school closed after recording 10 COVID-19 cases. The school is the second to be closed after John Tallach in Matebeleland North was also closed after 100 coronavirus cases had been recorded at the school. The cases have since risen to 184.

Matobo High School in Matebeleland South has been closed after ten learners at the institution tested positive for the coronavirus.

The development was confirmed by Matabeleland South Provincial Medical Director Dr Rudo Chikodzore who said the cases at Matopo were detected after their rapid response team responded to reports of pupils with higher than normal temperatures.

Samples were also collected at other schools in the province which called into their hotline and results are due, she added. The head of the Matobo district taskforce committee on Covid-19, Obey Chaputsira, said health workers had been deployed to begin a process of testing everyone at the school.

This comes after Vice President Constantino Chiwenga had reported that Prince Edward in Harare has also recorded coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, Members of Parliament (MPs) are calling for the immediate closure of the schools saying they were prematurely re-opened putting the lives of learners and teachers in danger from the virus.

The government says the coronavirus may not end therefore the country has to put in place mechanisms which will allow the people to go on their day to day activities unhindered.

Speaking in Parliament last week, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi said Zimbabwe has to adjust to the new normal.

Divisions rock MDC-T over Extraordinary Congress

Divisions rock MDC-T over Extraordinary Congress. NewsDay reports that Elias Mudzuri who is one of the party leaders who intend for the presidential post is against the idea of the party holding a virtual congress. Sharp divisions have emerged in the opposition MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe over the Supreme Court-sanctioned Extraordinary congress slated for this December.

Mudzuri reportedly said the decision is both “unacceptable and impossible”. He speaks after the party’s interim Secretary-General, Douglas Mwonzora has said holding a virtual congress was a possibility considering that the nation is still grappling with the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to NewsDay, Mudzuri said a virtual congress won’t work. He said: The proposed virtual voting at the MDC’s extraordinary congress is unacceptable and is not an option. It disenfranchises many delegates who don’t have appropriate phones.

Virtual voting cannot happen because of obstacles. We don’t have technology that can sustain that virtual process. We need something that is workable for the rural and urban structures to work with.

People cannot afford data costs right now and the worst problem is who is responsible for running that virtual process? Who can run that? Who is independent? It is something that came for debate and we are talking of a national election to choose a leader of the opposition so this is subject for debate.

The congress scheduled to be held from the 12th to the 20th of December is meant to elect a substantive replacement to the party’s founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirai who succumbed to cancer in 2018.

Tsvangirai’s demise ushered the party into chaos as leaders, particularly, Khupe, Nelson Chamisa, Mwonzora, Mudzuri and Morgen Komichi, wrangled for top posts in the party.

The leadership crisis spilt into courts and the Supreme Court eventually ordered the party to hold the elective extraordinary congress.

Buying a house in Zim’s towns no longer a worthwhile investment

Buying a house in Zim’s towns no longer a worthwhile investment. The unknown author made these valid points which might be useful for those seeking to invest their money in property:

An opinionist has opined the following piece in which he urges people to prioritize building homes in the rural areas other than in Zimbabwe’s towns where amenities are a nightmare and properties are losing value.

Buying a house in town is no longer a worthwhile investment. Bulawayo with it’s acute water shortages and intensive load shedding is now unhabitable. I think relocating to a rural area is the only alternative, especially for those ones who are buying property for the first time. With an amount of $30 000, you can build a spacious rural home, with a lot of space to do horticulture projects and chicken rearing, yet the same $30k will only afford to buy a four-roomed dilapidated worn outhouse, in a densely populated, sewage stinking location like Old Magwegwe and Mzilikazi, with no space to do self-help horticultural projects.

I know some imbeciles who have signed a covenant with poverty will say a city has many facilities on offer within reach, but that’s a baseless argument with the current Bulawayo which i know.

With $30k. Most rural stands cost less than $1k, with a total acreage of five hectares and above. Here is the breakdown: $20k can erect a 5roomed house, 2roundhuts, a granary, Blair toilet, and fencing a ten-hectare stand. With an amount of $5k you can buy a 5 cows, 5 goats, 3 pigs, 5 roadrunners, and raise 100 broilers.

Just imagine how much stock you will be in possession of in the next ten years!!!!!!. With the remaining $5k you can drill a borehole and a Biogas facility. Mind you at zero cost you can own an orchard of five mangoes, oranges, guavas, avocadoes, and peaches. Now my question is can you afford to do all these things in a 200 square metres of land.

Let’s do the MATHS. The choice is in your hands. Take these tips SERIOUSLY.

  1. Zimbabwe has a uniform education Syllabus either rural or urban ( for those who were saying education is better in the cities than rural areas).
  2. We only live once, so why do you make your life a misery by staying in sewage and garbage stinking cities without water whilst there is an option of ‘smart rural areas’.
  3. Lastly in the nineteenth century, the whites left a fully-fledged megapolis London and Paris to occupy the African jungles and they turned it into habitable cities.

My point here is its high time we swallow our pride and divorce our unions with poverty, we leave the slums and water-scarce cities and build smart rural areas. # Handeyi kumusha#

Rapper Schingy speaks on Ginimbi demon: This might be true, celebs joking about this video are afraid of being exposed. The video of a woman claiming to be manifesting Ginimbi’s demon has left a whole lot of mixed emotions in the streets of social media.

Below is a controversial perception of rapper Schingy, check what he had to say about this whole issue.

Dont be misled by some of these celebrities who are making this video a joke some of them varikutya ku expozwa what I can give as My advice to all saying this is fake please go pray for ur spirituals eyes coz don’t judge things of the spirit with physical eyes. This is a clip from a Sunday service which took place 2 days ago I was there and this is the church I have been going for the past 5 years when Firstly I was introduced to it I was like all you guys commenting there ndichitoti Iri idrama till I started growing in faith and a lot has manifested to a stage I have believed God speaks through his people in so many ways.Ginimbi demon possessed Woman

Actor Skhumbuzo Mbatha (Meneer Manaka) from Skeem Saam arrested

Skeem Saam actor, Skhumbuzo Mbatha popularly known as Meneer Manaka recently opened up about being arrested for a crime he didn’t commit over the weekend. It was on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the actor was just out for a few sundowners with friends.

“I am at Jeppe Police station, I hate it. I should not be here, it should not have happened. I don’t like drama and have always tried to avoid it with all my might. This is how it all started on Sunday, actually yesterday. Friends invited me to join them at Pata Pata for some sundowners. When I got there already the drinks were going down fast and furious and the voices were louder than the sense they were making.” He informed his followers on Facebook.

Skhumbuzo Mbatha

Seated across him was a lady who seemed troubled to Skhumbuzo.

“I sat down, consciously keeping a safe “corona free” space after having greeted everyone around the table. I joined in on the conversation albeit maintaining a sober person’s demeanour. I could not help but notice this lady, she was seated right across me at the other side of the table. She probably came with the other two guys that I did not know. She seemed rather distracted and a little bored. She gave me the impression that she’d rather be home reading a book or watching a good movie than being at this place.”

Trying to find out what could be bothering her, Mbatha engaged her.

“I started to engage her and what I had perceived about her it was right. She told me she was not emotionally well and had wanted to go home but did not want to be a party pooper for her friends. I must have engaged her occasionally during my two hour stay at the venue just as to not make her feel out of place. It seemed like all the inebriated fellows round our table were completely oblivious to what her mood was like or maybe ne ba mmethisha ka moya ka bomo who knows.”

The lady then asked the actor for a lift when he was about to go home.

“So, I when I eventually decided to leave, she politely asked if I could drop her off in Melville. I had no problem with that because that was right along the way home for me. I did not feel inconvenienced in any way by her request because I could see she’d rather be anywhere else but there. She seemed like a very polite and decent person and I found myself wondering what could be gnawing away at her fragile soul. It was clear that something she could not share with anyone was eroding her happiness at that moment.

“Finally, we stood up and bid everyone goodbye and we walked towards my car. We hardly said much to each other as we briskly walked the congested streets of Maboneng – one brief conversation we had was about how so many people reveled as if tomorrow was not a Monday.”

This lady asked the actor to quickly pass by another joint which wasn’t far from where they hung out.

“As I drove out of the parking lot she requested that we pass by another joint not so far from where we were initially. Well, I knew the place and did not really mind because it was right on our way. When we got there she politely told me she won’t be long, she was just giving someone something quickly inside the joint. I remained in the car as the song of Sade called “Turn my back on you” was blasting hard on my car stereo. I must have waited for about 3 minutes when I suddenly heard my passenger door open violently and she was panting and looked like the adrenalin rush must have induced a different facial contortion on her because he face looked warped.

What is going on here, I remember asking myself and beginning to wonder what kind of a person have I given a lift to. Gasping for air and in a frantic mode she asked me to drive the car quickly. In a panick I drove and off we went. I remember having a conversation with myself as to whether should I ask what just happened there or should I just mind my business – the latter prevailed. Re fihlile Melville ka mo dropa and then ka tsena Beyers Naude ka theoga ke ya gae.”

The following day a police officer located SK Mbatha and asked him to come to the station.

“Today ka bo 18H30 detective Fanyane Mazibuko came knocking at my door. They say they traced my home address using my car plates. They asked me to come to Jeppe Police station which is where I am right now. The lady from yesterday, yes that polite sweet lonesome figure I saw when I came to joun my friends had smashed someone’s car’s windscreen with a brick. She then got a metal object and scratched the car. What I hear now is that the car belongs to her estranged husband who was seen by a friend entering the joint with a hot fluzzy and the friend notified her and she too happened to be in Maboneng and I unknowingly drove the getaway car. That is why I am here”

Dynamos gets UK kit deal

Dynamos gets UK kit deal. The deal is worth US$300 000 and subject to renewal at the end of the term. The agreement was enabled by On The Ball Sport (OTB) company, which is the licensed distributor of Looks sportswear in Africa.

Good times certainly continue to roll for Dynamos after the Harare giants yesterday announced a three-year kit sponsorship deal with an England-based sports equipment and apparels manufacturing company called Looks.

OTB chief executive Peter Chiveso said the deal, announced in Harare yesterday was the first of the two deals that the company would be announcing this week. “At the end of a period we are going to review the relationship. Our hope is that we will not be in that bracket of one-year wonders and then disappear. What we have as an advantage is that we control the production line. There is no middleman between ourselves and the manufacturing entity so hopefully we can manage to put things together,” Chiveso said.

Reports suggest that Dynamos’ arch-rivals Highlanders will get a similar deal this week before all the other local clubs benefit in due course. “We hope that in a month or so we will also be announcing deals for more PSL clubs. They (Dynamos) were not the first club we spoke to. The negotiations went pretty smoothly and they are very professional,” he added.

Besides playing kits, Dynamos is also set to receive training kits, tracksuits, warm-up kits, gym accessories, bags, fan regalia and travelling gear.

“This is part of something that we want to bring into Zimbabwean football. We want to help clubs towards their commercial side of businesses. It’s an area that has not been well exploited in the past because there haven’t been any technical sponsors. We are trying to bring a new culture and help clubs drive their commercial side of business,” Chiveso said.

Local clubs normally buy kits from commercial shops and it is problematic for them to do replicas to sell to their fans. Chiveso assured Dynamos fans that the replicas were of good quality and they will get value for their money. OTB said fans should expect to see the replica jerseys in the market in two to three weeks.

“There is pride that comes with buying an original jersey. Even if it’s expensive but its something that you work towards because you know it is quality. When it comes to things of passion, sometimes cost is not an issue. As long as the quality is good and the fit and feel of it is good and is packed right in terms of image it gives the supporters will love it.

“That is why we are not so interested in mass marketing and cheap stuff. We are more interested in quality and yes the issue of affordability comes into play, we will try to manage that, but the quality is the most important thing because we want to be an aspirational brand. We want people to aspire to wear the brand.”

Dynamos, who are already enjoying the benefits of a major sponsorship with principal sponsors Gold Leaf Tobacco through their brand Remington Gold, said they were excited by the new development.

The club has not had an official kit sponsor since the collapse of its one-year deal with NetOne at the end of the 2018 season. “This an exciting development and it’s the beginning of good times for Dynamos. This is a massive deal for us,” said club chairman Isaiah Mupfurutsa.

“We have seen the kits, and our players had a feel of them. I can tell you that the kits are pure and of excellent quality. This is going to make us look different.” Traditionally, teams get two kits for home and away matches.

“For this one we are receiving four kits. We have two traditional colours for our home and away matches. Then we have other alternative colours which is something that is not very common in our local league,” he added.

On top of the kits, the club will receive royalties for every garment that is sold whether it’s a jersey, a replica or a cap.

“This deal is encompassing all that and we are very happy with that. We are confident that given the quality that is there and the way that we are now doing things we are sure that this deal is going to be a success. We are happy as the executive because we continue to tick the boxes of some of the major things that we promised to achieve when we took over office.”

At a time other local clubs are struggling to stay afloat because of financial problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic, there is a refreshing level of sanity at Dynamos.  This has been attributed to their sponsor Remington Gold who have been faithfully footing all the club’s expenses including players’ salaries.

Writer and film producer Tsitsi Dangarembga among BBC’s 100 most influential women

Writer and film producer Tsitsi Dangarembga among BBC’s 100 most influential women. Zimbabwean prominent writer, Tstsi Dangarembga, has been named amongst BBC’s 100 inspiring and influential women in 2020 around the world. She was listed among actors, human rights activists, political activists, politicians, nurses, engineers and others. BBC said:

This year 100 Women is highlighting those who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times.

The list includes Sanna Marin, who leads Finland’s all-female coalition government, Michelle Yeoh, star of the new Avatar and Marvel films and Sarah Gilbert, who heads the Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine, as well as Jane Fonda, a climate activist and actress.

And in an extraordinary year – when countless women around the world have made sacrifices to help others – one name on the 100 Women list has been left blank as a tribute.

The BBC’s 100 Women team drew up a shortlist based on names gathered by them and suggested by the BBC’s network of World Service languages teams.

We were looking for candidates who had made the headlines or influenced important stories over the past 12 months, as well as those who have inspiring stories to tell, achieved something significant or influenced their societies in ways that wouldn’t necessarily make the news.

The pool of names was then assessed against this year’s theme – women who led change – and measured for regional representation and due impartiality before the final names were chosen.

On Dangarembga’s profile, the broadcaster mentioned that the playwright was among those detained for taking part in civic protests in Zimbabwe this year, with protesters accusing the government of corruption and misgovernance.

BBC added that Dangarembga was released on bail after being charged with incitement to commit violence and breach of health regulations introduced to curb the spread of coronavirus. Fellow authors have called for the charges, which Tsitsi denies, to be dropped.

Dangarembga was one of six authors shortlisted for the prestigious The Booker Prize award for her work This Mournable Body.

Govt sued over diarrhoea, hepatitis B, TB At Chikurubi Maximum Prison. An inmate at Chikurubi Maximum Prison (Chikurubi), Taurai Dodzo, has sued the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) over negligence to promote prisoners’ health and welfare.

In his application now before the High Court, Dodzo claims the prison has been hit by diarrhoea, hepatitis B and Tuberculosis outbreak a situation that has been worsened by continued unavailability of clean water. He said:

The shortage of water has resulted in an outbreak of serious diseases including diarrhoea, hepatitis B and Tuberculosis. Regrettably, prison officials do not separate sick prisoners from the healthy ones.

Dodzo also cited ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu, Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka, Finance minister Mthuli Ncube and the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission as respondents.

He wants the court to order the authorities to ensure that temporary measures which include the use of mobile water bowsers and isolation of ill prisoners are put in place to ensure the safety of inmates.

The prisoner also wants Ncube ordered to immediately release funds for supplementary daily water supplies to the jail. Dodzo also wants the prison clinic to be fully stocked with all essential medicines and installed with requisite technology.

He echoed the remarks by journalist Hopewell Chin’ono that the prison is currently overpopulated with 2 000 inmates instead of 1 360.

Magistrate fumes over UZ Vice Chancellor Nyagura’s delaying tactics

Magistrate fumes over UZ Vice Chancellor Nyagura’s delaying tactics. Chief Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi has fumed over alleged “delay tactics” being employed by former University of Zimbabwe Vice-Chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura and his defence team.

Nyagura is facing charges of criminal abuse of office after he illegally awarded former First Lady Mrs Grace Mugabe a doctorate in 2014.

The matter was set for trial this Tuesday but Nyagura indicated that he had sought the services of a new lawyer-Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara who was represented by Advocate Tafadzwa Mapuranga who indicated that the former was engaged at the High Court.

He sought for a postponement of the matter on the basis that Adv Zhuwarara who was needed time to go through the record for him to prepare for trial. The postponement did not go down well with both the magistrate and the prosecution which accused Nyagura and his defence team of playing games with the court. Mutevedzi said:

This matter has been pending since 2018 and the accused person should have instructed a lawyer of his choice long time back. Why did he instruct him on Friday? Who was holding him back? I have been very tolerant with this matter. We cannot continue to be told that the matter can’t proceed to trial every time it’s set down for trial. We cannot do what suits the defence always.

You cannot just wake up and impose trial dates of your choice. I want Adv Zhuwarara to come to court and answer certain questions. Mr Mutevedzi postponed the matter to the second week of January next year and it is expected to run for five days.

The case has been pending since 2018 and Nyagura has changed lawyers in between and unsuccessfully made a number of applications prompting a delay in trial commencement. Some say Nyagura is blameless as he was arm-twisted by the powerful first family while some say he could have resigned in protest.

Olivier Giroud scores winner for Chelsea at they seal Champions league last 16 spot

Olivier Giroud scores winner for Chelsea at they seal Champions league last 16 place. The French striker has played just 127 minutes for the Blues so far this season, but made the most of his time on the pitch here with an injury-time finish after Timo Werner’s effort had been blocked. Chelsea sealed their progress to the Champions League knockout stage with two games to spare as Olivier Giroud‘s late header secured victory at Rennes.

Just six minutes earlier, Rennes looked to have denied Chelsea when Serhou Guirassy headed home from a corner to cancel out Callum Hudson-Odoi’s opener. Frank Lampard’s side dominated the first half and could easily have led by more than just Hudson-Odoi’s calm finish after he had been sent clear by a pinpoint pass from Mason Mount.

They invited the home side on in the second half and had to rely on a defence that included the returning Thiago Silva and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who made a couple of good saves against his former club.

A late winner for Sevilla means both they and the Blues have 10 points in Group E, nine more than both Rennes and Krasnodar.

Game management
Lampard spoke before Tuesday’s match of Chelsea’s need to get their Champions League business done early, and will be delighted with the outcome. Almost as important as sealing qualification is the fact Chelsea can now rest players for the final two group games, which come during a relentless December packed with tough fixtures.

Their remaining games – against Sevilla and Krasnodar – fall between league fixtures against Tottenham, Leeds and Everton as part of eight games in a month.

They will want to take the clash in Spain more seriously, with Julen Lopetegui’s side having matched the Blues in a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge and their only rivals for top spot, which in theory brings an easier tie in the last 16.

They will be full of confidence, though, having won six matches on the spin since following up that Sevilla stalemate with another at Manchester United in late October. Tuesday’s victory could have been a bit less stressful for them had they finished the two other clear-cut chances that fell their way during their early dominance.

However, either side of Hudson-Odoi’s goal, Werner somehow found a way to scoop a shot from six yards over the bar and Mount saw a poked effort clawed wide by home keeper Alfred Gomis.

Rennes deserved the leveller when it came towards the end of a second-half display that was full of endeavour but so often short of ruthlessness in front of goal. It is clear to see why they had gone over five hours without a goal prior to Guirassy’s header.

But Chelsea recovered to take the points thanks to the ever-reliable Giroud, who was sent on by Lampard in the 69th minute and rewarded his boss in the 91st with his 30th goal for the club.

Chelsea make it 16 out of 17

  • Rennes have won just one of their last 11 games in European competition (D2 L8).
  • Chelsea have made the knockout stages in 16 of their 17 Champions League seasons (only failing in 2012/13).
  • Rennes have managed just one clean sheet in their last 14 games in European competition (2-0 v Lazio in December 2019 in the Europa League).
  • Chelsea have won three consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since December 2015.
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions, their longest run without defeat since November 2018 (18).
  • Since his first European appearance for Chelsea in October 2018, Callum Hudson-Odoi has netted six goals in European competition, a haul bettered only by Olivier Giroud for the Blues in that time (12).
  • Since the start of last season, Mason Mount has registered eight assists for Chelsea in all competition, a joint-high among players still with the club (also 8 for Azpilicueta and Abraham).

Students and residents soaked by rains at bus terminus: Video. Students and residents were soaked by the rains this Tuesday at a bus terminus located between Lobengula Street and 3rd Avenue in Bulawayo when they were waiting for their turn to board the ZUPCO buses.

This comes amid calls by some for the government to allow the return of privately owned commuter omnibuses (Kombis). Government is adamant that the kombis and private taxis won’t be allowed back on the road save for those that would have been contracted by ZUPCO.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice as Manchester United beat Istanbul Basaksehir

Fernandes opened the scoring early on for the hosts with a stunning 20-yard finish before tapping in a second. Marcus Rashford scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-0 before half-time. Bruno Fernandes scored twice as Manchester United beat Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday to close in on a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Deniz Turuc scored a free-kick late on for the visitors but Daniel James side-footed in to round off the victory. The result means Manchester United are top of Group H with nine points, three ahead of second-place Paris St-Germain.

There’s just enough time for Greenwood to shoot and Gunok to save, and that’s the end of a fine evening’s entertainment. United was magnificent in the first half, attacking with verve and panache.

Not so good in the second, but then they made a tranche of changes, so that’s understandable. The three points keep them top of the group, and they now only need a point from their final two matches against PSG and Leipzig to make the knockout stage!

Neymar scores as PSG beat Leipzig 1- 0

Neymar’s first-half penalty helped ease the pressure on boss Thomas Tuchel as Paris-St Germain leapfrogged RB Leipzig in Group H of the Champions League.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side rallied but some wasteful finishing prevented them from equalising. The Brazilian scored his first goal in six matches in the competition after Angel di Maria had been fouled.

Leipzig drop to third in the group and are three points behind leaders Manchester United with two games left. Both of those teams are now on six points in Group H, three behind leaders United.

Basaksehir prop up the table with three points. Next up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side: PSG at home. Having already done a number on last season’s finalists away, and needing just one more point, they’ll be confident of doing enough to make it through to the knockouts, especially as they’re now on a seven-game winning streak at Old Trafford, running up an aggregate score of 24-2.

Mind you, if they give Neymar and Mbappe the chances they gave Basaksehir tonight … it promises to be a great match, put it that way.

Enforcement of existing COVID-19 regulations tightened

Enforcement of existing COVID-19 regulations tightened. While no new measures have yet been introduced, the Government made it clear yesterday that all the regulations already in place had to be followed and enforced to prevent any further rise in infection rates and that the complacency seen growing recently had to be resisted.

Existing lockdown and public health regulations are being more strictly enforced, with hundreds of arrests already made this week, while emergency funds are being spent at needy schools to further upgrade sanitation to control any spike in Covid-19 infections.

Since March, Zimbabwe has recorded 9 398 Covid-19 positive cases, but 8 297 recovered while 274 died. Yesterday alone, 90 new cases were recorded, all of them being local transmissions and one death.

Speaking after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu said Cabinet was concerned over the recent increase in Covid-19 cases and wanted better enforcement of existing rules.

“The enforcement of lockdown measures will be intensified henceforth. It should be emphasised that where there is non-compliance to these regulations, the law enforcement agencies will not hesitate to enforce the penalties prescribed,” said Minister Ndlovu.  “Cabinet reiterates that the lockdown and curfew measures previously announced are still subsisting.”

While most of the economy has been reopened in phases, subject to rules involving masking, scanning of temperatures, sanitising hands and social distancing, the curfew is still in place for non-essential workers between 10pm and 6am and public bars, night clubs, beerhalls, casinos, betting shops and theatres are still not permitted to operate.

Weddings are still limited to 50 people and church services to 100 people. Cabinet was assured that Natpharm and private companies had adequate stocks for the prevention, treatment and supportive management of Covid-19 and that the testing and tracing of contacts of infected people would continue.

Minister Ndlovu said not all children were back at school but adequate measures had been put in place to ensure there would no spike in infections.

“Cabinet notes that a number of Covid-19 positive cases were reported at learning institutions following the full re-opening of schools. The nation is advised that measures have been put in place to strengthen protective and preventative measures in boarding school environments.”

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, with technical support from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, was working on minimising the risk of infections in boarding schools with authorities reviewing the carrying capacity of hostels, an inspection of boarding facilities and training of hostel matrons, boarding staff and kitchen staff.

“In order to guarantee fresh water to schools in need, Cabinet reports that $150 million was released to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education for the drilling of boreholes.”

Police roadblocks lifted recently are now returning and there are reports that hundreds of people have had to pay fines this week for not wearing masks. But National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said police were still compiling figures of the number of people arrested this week for failure to comply with lockdown regulations.

There have been in recent weeks reports that complacency has been creeping into society, with a lot of people disregarding mitigatory measures after the World Health Organisation commended Government for the way it has handled the pandemic so far.

The measures taken by Zimbabwe were proved effective by the 26 percent drop in total deaths in the first eight months of this year compared to the same eight months last year, as the public health measures to combat Covid-19 worked on a lot of other infections and diseases.

Health and Child Care Minister Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has already warned that the early successes in the fight against Covid-19 should not be mistaken for a total victory against the global pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr John Mangwiro said the best medicine was prevention and implored continuous adherence to regulations.

“If you check internationally, the Covid-19 virus is raging like a veld fire. Our cases are surging so that is the reason we are stressing that people should continue the proper wearing of face masks and adherence to protocols.

“As Government, we are increasing our testing and upscaling contact tracing. We will make sure that people are aware of the threat of the pandemic,” said Dr Mangwiro.

Moana’s mother Yolander spill the beans reveal the age she got pregnant of her daughter

Moana’s mother Yolander spill the beans reveal the age she got pregnant of her daughter. Moana was estranged with her father Ishmael Amuli, who last week dramatically seized the burial order and threatened to bury her as per the Moslem tradition, leading to the mother, Yolanda Kuvaoga, approaching the High Court on an urgent basis.

As the nation awaits the High Court to decide the burial matter of late socialite and video vixen Michelle “Moana” Amuli, her mother has threatened to undress in public if Moana’s remains are taken to an Islamic burial site at Warren Hills cemetery.

While the High Court is expected to deliver its ruling from today onwards, Moana’s mother has revealed sensational details about how she (Kuvaoga) met Ishmael 26 years ago in a Harare bar when she was fifteen years. The revelation has led to girl child activist Dr. Betty Hazviperi Makoni charging that Moana’s father must be arrested for statutory r@pe.
The legal age of sexual consent in Zimbabwe is 16 years. Kuvaoga gave birth to Moana 26 years ago when she was barely sixteen aftee having met Ishmael, a self-proclaimed Moslem, in a Harare bar.

“He met me in a pub and by that time I was 15 years when I got pregnant and I want to believe he is the first to abuse me to be wild but today he wants to claim to be an ardent follower of Moslem religion. “Moana died aged 26 and I am 41 years old, if you calculate our age differences it clearly shows that I gave birth at a tender age,” she told H-Metro.

Yolander

Moana’s mother told journalists on Friday that she was prepared to undress in public in protest against taking the body of her daughter to a Moslem church. Nhasi ndatouya ndakapfeka kataiti kane maresi mukati ndakamirira kuti vakangoendesa mwana wangu kuchurch yeMoslem ndaisvikobvisa hembe nekuti mwana anga asisaende kuMoslem,” she said.

“Moana had since stopped following that religion and everyone could see it from her dressing and clubbing. “More so she died while coming from a night club, taking her body to a Moslem church is violation of the late’s rights as well as fighting me in the name of religion,” she said.

Yolanda is also seeking to have Zororo Cemetery on the outskirts of Harare along Seke Road as the burial place so that women and Moana’s general friends can have a chance to accord her a deserving send-off. She fears that if Ishmael is allowed to have his way, she and Moana’s friends and fans would be disenfranchised because under the Islamic way, women are not allowed during the burial process.Ishmael

Yolanda is also basing her fight on the fact that Moana was no longer living an “Islamic life”. “On 18 November, Kuvaoga and Amuli agreed that the deceased would be buried at Zororo Cemetery in the presence of her relatives, including Kuvaoga, her sisters and other family members.

“On 19 November, Amuli unilaterally obtained a burial order in my absence when at all material times we had always agreed on the funeral arrangements,” she argues in papers before the High Court.“Amuli advised me that the deceased would be buried according to the rites of Islam in my absence, contrary to what we had agreed.

“Amuli stated that I would be excluded from the funeral gathering, which would be unacceptable as I am the mother of the deceased and loved her dearly.

“More fundamentally, the deceased had remote ties to Islam as evidenced by her lifestyle, which was more secular. “The deceased was a popular personality with huge following, apparently it would be unfair not only to me but to other people and relations who knew her personality.”

But Ishmael Amuli, who is being represented by Ashiel Mugiya in the urgent court case, said that they would contest the application.

“We have opposed the matter and it has been postponed to Monday for argument. The court has invited the parents of the deceased to give oral evidence. “So we are happy that, at least, the court has stopped the mother from removing the body without a valid court order and we believe that it is improper for the mother to seek to bar the father.”

Plot to set govt buildings on fire exposed: Leaked audio

Plot to set govt buildings on fire exposed. The audio recording, whose voice is attributed to that of MDC-A Bulawayo province women’s assembly chairperson, Tendai Masotsha, is heard incriminating the MDC-A in fake abductions as well as other terrorist acts.

A leaked audio recording of a top MDC-Alliance official reveals stunning details of how the opposition party planned a wave of terror that involved burning Government buildings and faking abductions to cover up the subversive plots.

Several MDC-A officials confirmed the authenticity of the audio attributed to Masotsha. In the audio, Masotsha is heard saying that political activist Tawanda Muchehiwa confided in her of a plan to bomb Government buildings prior to the alleged abduction.

“I, Tendai Masotsha, would like to say unless they want the whole family to be in soup if they corner me I will reveal everything that Tawanda wanted to do on that fateful day. “Tawanda told me that he had 20 people who were waiting for the instruction to burn Government buildings. Tawanda received money to buy explosives to burn down those buildings.

“Amongst those 20 people, I did not see them (the 20 people), he was telling me that they were ready and he was pushing me to find a safe house and convince the Chief to buy them food while they were carrying out their activities,” she said.

Daring the MDC-A top hierarchy, Masotsha, whose cellphone was not available yesterday, threatened to spill the beans if the party went ahead and expelled her from her current post.

“Unless if they want me to go public and tell the world that I was also afraid of what I was being asked to do, Tawanda knows that he wanted to burn Government buildings. I told (Jameson) Timba that if they continued to harass me, I am going to expose everything. If I am coming out, I am going to tell the world what Tawanda wanted to do.

I don’t know how he got caught, maybe among the 20 people (there was an informant), he said there were some people who had guns and I couldn’t go along with him, I didn’t see those people, maybe they were foreigners,” she added.

This comes as the country’s security arms have exposed how rogue elements, who include the MDC-A and the G40, have been conniving with hostile Western nations to smuggle guns and set up so-called Democratic Resistance Committees to destroy the democratic foundations of Zimbabwe.

Although it is not clear when the audio was recorded, a committee that was chaired by the MDC-A secretary for presidential affairs Jameson Timba absolves Masotsha of any wrongdoing, apparently, after getting wind that she would spill salacious details of what was being planned behind the scenes.

In his response on Twitter to the allegations levelled against him in the audio, Tawanda Muchehiwa said “Tendai Masotsha sounds exactly like my abductors when they were torturing me. That she claims I told her of these plots further suggests she was the source of that fake intel. That conversation never happened. Only sit-down was in a car with Dr William Gwazemba.”

Muchehiwa did not deny that the two were in contact prior to the alleged abduction. Dr Gwazemba on Twitter also pointed an accusing finger at the MDC-A, saying the party should come clean on the alleged abduction of Muchehiwa.

On his part Timba, who chaired the committee that exonerated Masotsha, said he did not have a comment on the matter, while some known MDC-A apologists warned that the audio could open a can of worms with far-reaching ramifications for the party that has a propensity to fake abductions and engage in violent demonstrations.

Reacting to the shocking audio, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana said the revelations are grave.

“We are talking of very serious allegations of terrorism here. This is not the Zimbabwe we want. This is not how democratic disputations should happen. An unlawful use of violence against property to intimidate or coerce Government is a crime never to be tolerated,” he said.

Since the turn of the millennium, the country has been under attack from Western countries that have passed illegal economic sanctions as a response to the Land Reform Programme initiated to correct colonial imbalances.

In their push for an illegal regime change agenda, Western nations, who will never forgive Zimbabwe for the Land Reform Programme, have roped in the opposition to push its anti-Zimbabwe agenda.

Pirating Kombis invade CBD

Pirating Kombis invade CBD. The banned kombis are also affixing metal screens to windows and windscreens, while others are replacing the windows with wooden boards.

Banned kombis are now openly driving into bus terminuses in Harare and its dormitory towns, competing for passengers with Zupco buses and kombis, while police and local authorities turn a blind eye.

Illegal kombis on the Msasa, Epworth and Mabvuku-Tafara routes were yesterday offloading passengers at Simon Muzenda Terminus (formerly Fourth Street).

On Monday around noon it was even worse in Chitungwiza at Makoni Shopping Centre, the town’s busiest, where the banned kombis outnumbered the permitted Zupco kombis. Police were seen trying to restore order, engaging in high-speed cat-and-mouse chases with the illegal kombis.

But some unregistered kombis were unmoved and one of the drivers who preferred anonymity said they pay kickbacks to traffic police officers.

“We just pay US$2 for the traffic police to allow us to load passengers here. We ply Makoni-Machipisa route and to us US$2 is paltry compared to our profits,” said the driver. The pirate kombis charge US$1 per individual or equivalent in local currency on the Machapisa route

In terms of Covid-19 regulations, only buses owned or contracted by Zupco are allowed to operate. Unlike the Zupco kombi fleet, which is largely built from private operators who have accepted Zupco contracts and rules, passengers on the private kombis are also at greater risk of contracting Covid-19 as the mandatory prevention measures are ignored.

When boarding the kombis, passengers are not sanitised and are not required to wear face masks. Elsewhere, police and council officials seem to be overpowered by the rowdy kombi operators.

At ZBC traffic lights in Mbare along Simon Mazorodze Road, kombis plying routes to Glen View, Highfield and Budiriro always operating “freely”.

In a recent interview, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said operators of commuter omnibuses or private vehicles ferrying passengers illegally on city and inter-city routes risked having them impounded.

He said police officers accepting bribes from defiant transporters will be flushed out of the police service. “The police are aware that some vehicle owners and drivers have removed number plates, with some putting wooden boards or other materials on windows in order to evade arrest,” he said.

“This will not be tolerated and the law will be applied.” Asst Comm Nyathi said more officers had since been deployed to ensure those who broke the law were arrested.

He said since the beginning of the national lockdown, a total of 224 037 people have been arrested for flouting regulations, while 21 180 vehicles were impounded for pirating and putting the lives of the public at risk.
