ZRP warns bars, beer halls, restaurants operating illegally. This comes as health experts are warning authorities of a potential third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, with winter fast approaching. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has expressed grave concern over the new trend of bars and restaurants that are now selling beer to patrons totally disregarding COVID-19 regulations.

In a statement on Friday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi warned those businesses operating in violation of COVID-19 regulations that the long arm of the law will catch up with them. Said Asst Comm Nyathi:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has noted with concern the proliferation of bars, beer-halls, and restaurants that are openly defying the Governments’ COVID-19 regulations by operating with clients drinking beer whilst closed inside.

Some are even drinking whilst parking vehicles at the premises. In some cases, loud music is being played as the revellers play hide and seek with the Police. The Police remind the public that the threat of a third wave of the pandemic is still imminent according to medical experts.

Therefore the Zimbabwe Republic Police will arrest all operators who are not complying with the Government’s directive to remain closed. The Commissioner-General of Police has directed Officer Commanding Provinces to take action and ensure modalities to allow the Government’s relevant Ministry to withdraw licences or permits are followed now.

Asst Comm Nyathi also pleaded with members of the public to report to the police all bars, beer halls, and restaurants operating illegally. He said:

The Public is implored to continue reporting bars, beer-halls, or restaurants operating illegally to the Police on National Complaints Desk number (0242) 703631 WhatsApp 0712 800 197 or Harare Operations number (0242) 748836 or Bulawayo Operations number (09) 73547.

On Wednesday Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said Cabinet had directed that bars and night clubs should remain closed indefinitely. She said:

Cabinet remains cognisant of the need to fully open all economic activities. However, in the face of the threat of a Third Wave, Cabinet has deferred consideration of the opening of bars and night clubs until further notice.

Nashtv’s press statement on artiste controversial harsh contract circulating on social media. There have been concerns that Nashtv is exploiting artistes who are very desperate for exposure. Nashtv has issued a statement after an artiste contract with the company had leaked.

We present Nashtv’s statement in full below.

We have always considered ourselves a platform by the people, for the people and for that reason we value public views and feedback to the work we do. Due to the public outcry concerning some of our contracts with artists, we have taken it upon ourselves to realese all the copyrights to Color Vibes videos, Hotspot Videos and Live Shows that we have done. Any artiste who recorded with us and wants to claim the copyright to their song, should feel free to do that.

The leaked contract was designed to give the company maximum protection especially after paying the artist the agreed figure for the music or video In full. Our main thrust is to help turn the Zimbabwean art sector into a self-funding industry and doing so in a sustainable way that safeguards our interests and investment over time.

Going forward we are working on a new contract and we will reach out to all arts stakeholders, critics included so that we come up with a contract that seeks to protect not only ourselves but the artist as well. We will have the contracts debates live on air until we come up with a solid win-win contract.

We are also opening our financials to public scrutiny and these will demonstrate that as Nash Group we have not made any profits from Nashtv. Financial gain was never the driving factor in this venture. We are solely driven by the desire to grow the arts industry and bring a feel-good experience to our country as proven over time.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback to our quest for a viable and rewarding arts industry. We have faith in the 10031 arts industry and we will continue learning as we go.

Man United, Leeds play to a goalless draw

Man United, Leeds play to a goalless draw. Marcelo Bielsa says his Leeds side are evolving as a Premier League force by learning from past errors against the top flight’s elite after holding Manchester United to a goalless draw at Elland Road.

Sunday’s stalemate continued Leeds’ fine run of results against teams in the top six since the turn of the year, having won at Leicester and leaders Manchester City, as well as holding Chelsea, Liverpool and, now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United.

They have conceded just three times across those five games, a stark contrast to the opening months of the season when they shipped goals in thrilling but gung-ho fashion, losing 4-3 at Anfield, 4-1 to Leicester and 6-2 at Old Trafford. “In the game we defended well. We couldn’t attack how we wanted to. Even if we didn’t dominate, we avoided the game becoming unbalanced. There are signs of evolution,” Bielsa told BBC Sport. “The group of players have constructed a solid group. Throughout this time they made errors and have learned how to correct them.

“In the same way, they learned to avoid errors that are avoidable. I have the feeling there has been a growth in their maturity in how to manage these games. “Clearly at this moment we cannot go into the games to dominate them and think we can win while dominant.

“But the capacity for the players to go up against these very good players has also increased. We can impose ourselves on defences and can avoid being overcome by attackers of the highest level.”

The result means Manchester City will be crowned Premier League champions next weekend if Pep Guardiola’s side beat Crystal Palace on Saturday and second-placed United lose at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

United boss Solskjaer praised the hosts but felt his side were unfortunate not to come away with all three points after creating the game’s clearer chances.

“I have not seen many teams dominate in the second half the way we did against Leeds – they steamroller teams but I felt we steamrollered them,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.

“Today we just didn’t have the moment, didn’t take them when we had them. A draw is disappointing because we wanted to put pressure on City.”

Off-field issues overshadow on-pitch action
In a game of few chances, Marcus Rashford came closest with a free-kick just before half-time. But memories of a forgettable encounter on the pitch will remain because of off-field issues.

A plane trailing a banner proclaiming ‘2bn stolen – Glazers out’ flew over Elland Road just before kick-off but Red Devils boss Solskjaer insisted that had no effect on his players’ performance.

“I wasn’t aware and I don’t think any of the boys have seen that. We have focused on the game, of course it was a difficult week,” the Norwegian told BBC Sport.

That the banner was not set up by any of the organised Manchester United supporter groups just underlines the strength of feeling created by this week’s European Super League controversy, fuelling an already negative view of the club’s American owners.

As one of England’s biggest clubs themselves, Leeds will be satisfied at extending their run of home draws against ‘Big Six’ opposition to five, with only Tottenham left to come.

‘Betrayed’ – visitors made aware of ESL feelings
The visitors were spared the uncomfortable welcome and intense atmosphere normally associated with this fixture but the passions stirred by the thwarted European Super League breakaway were difficult for them to ignore.

A banner, pinned to a railing outside the ground, bore a lengthy statement, which started with the words ‘Don’t let them threaten or bully you any more’ and demanded action against the six clubs.

The match programme included columns from manager Bielsa and skipper Liam Cooper, which both condemned the plot.

Chief executive Angus Kinnear called it a ‘betrayal of every true football supporter’ but warned it would be ‘naïve to believe the threat has been extinguished forever’ and that while ‘this week’s battle against elitism may have been won, the ongoing war needs to be relentlessly and vigorously fought’.

With the banner against the Old Trafford ownership being trailed as well and the Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani, plus director of football Victor Orta sporting large white roses – the symbol of Yorkshire – in their lapels, there was enough spice even without the presence of supporters. United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who was heavily involved in Super League discussions but was prompted to hand in his resignation due to his dislike of the proposals, was also absent.

It was a surprise therefore, that the contest began in such a lacklustre manner. Not until the final minutes of the opening period did a breakthrough seem possible, when Illan Meslier tipped a goal-bound Rashford free-kick over and Harry Maguire nodded the resulting corner wide.

The second period was more even at least and Helder Costa drove a low cross along the six-yard area before his shot deflected off Victor Lindelof and looped over.

But goalmouth action was rare and treats even fewer. Indeed, arguably the highlight was seeing Fred and Maguire having a go at each other during a break in play.

Solskjaer defended both, saying: “We have a group that demands a lot of each other – the standard is high both in training and in games, it is not just about being a nice guy. We demand maximum effort.”

The result leaves United needing four points from their remaining five games to confirm a place in next season’s Champions League.

Red Devils kings of the road despite draw – the stats

  • Manchester United are unbeaten in their past 24 Premier League away games (W15 D9), with only Arsenal between April 2003 and September 2004 (27) having a longer such run in English top-flight history.
  • Leeds had only six shots in this match, their joint-fewest in a league game at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa (also six against Barnsley in July 2020).
  • Manchester United have drawn seven league games 0-0 this season – only in 1980-81 (8) have they been involved in more goalless draws in a single league campaign. United have the most goalless draws of any side in the Premier League this season.
  • Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has created 11 chances in his last two league games; in 2021 he has created the most chances of any player in the Premier League (50).
  • Harry Maguire (10) is only the third Manchester United player to be shown 10+ yellow cards in a single Premier League campaign, after Steve Bruce in 1994-95 (11) and Luke Shaw in 2018-19 (11).

What’s next?

Leeds’ next game is at Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, 1 May (15:00 BST).

Manchester United are next in action in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Italian side AS Roma at Old Trafford on Thursday, 29 April (20:00 BST).

Their next Premier League game is against Liverpool, also at Old Trafford, on Sunday, 2 May (16:30 BST).

Burnley thump Wolves 4 – 0

Burnley thump Wolves 4 – 0. Sean Dyche’s side are now nine points clear of Fulham and the relegation zone with 15 to play for and the long-serving manager can surely start planning for a sixth consecutive season in the top flight.

An awful display from the hosts was ruthlessly exposed by the Clarets, who produced an excellent performance to end a run of three straight defeats in style. Burnley took a huge step towards retaining their Premier League status as a first-half Chris Wood hat-trick saw them thrash a lifeless Wolves at Molineux.

Wood was superb throughout but was also gifted his chances by a Wolves display that was worryingly half-hearted and reeked of the end of a season marooned in mid-table.

Strike partner Matej Vydra saw his effort ruled out by the video assistant referee for offside but there was still time for a fourth as Ashley Westwood thumped in from the edge of the area. Dyche was at pains in the build-up to this match to once again point out the lack of money he has had to reinforce his squad – and that staying in the Premier League for another season would be no mean feat.

He looks set to achieve that goal after his settled group delivered one of their most accomplished away performances in recent years. From the first minute, the Clarets were far more aggressive than Wolves, pushing the hosts back, and it was not long before Wood had them ahead.

Centre-back Willy Boly had already got away with one error when he inexcusably allowed a straight ball over his head, Wood twisted England defender Conor Coady inside out and arrowed a low shot across goal and in.

Six minutes later Wolves winger Adama Traore played a sloppy pass on the edge of his own area, Dwight McNeil anticipated the error and ran through to square the ball and give Wood a tap-in in the middle.

Another excellent cross from the left was volleyed over by Vydra as Burnley piled on the pressure, and the third goal did come before the break when Wood was left free to powerfully head in McNeil’s inswinging corner.

The Clarets have dropped 13 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season but that never looked likely and Vydra – who rounded Rui Patricio expertly to score but was just offside – and Matt Lowton were close to extending the lead before Westwood rounded things off.

Wood was provider this time, teeing up the former Aston Villa midfielder to hammer in from 20 yards. “I’ve been sleeping all right,”said Dyche. “I don’t tend to worry too much. It’s a season’s work.

“It’s how you end up in the season and our focus has to be the next game. We go into the next one and work really hard to try and get more points on the board.”

Worrying signs for woeful Wolves
It might be a bit obvious to suggest that Wolves, in no danger of either relegation or competing for a European place, looked like ideal opposition for Dyche’s hungry visitors. It is also true.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were awful throughout – second to every header and tackle, slack at the back and impotent in attack.

After two excellent seasons that both produced seventh-placed finishes Wolves have hit a wall this season. The losses to injury and rivals of Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota and Matt Doherty have been seismic, with little sign yet that their replacements are up to the task.

That trio, after all, scored 28 Premier League goals last season. The whole team has mustered 32 so far this term. They never looked like troubling Nick Pope and will have to serve up a much better showing against local rivals West Brom next Monday night. “So many things went wrong. Many, many things,” Nuno said.

“There are not many explanations for such a bad performance. We defended badly, very bad. We allowed Burnley to get into the game, we were not practical, we lost second balls and we were always under pressure and never comfortable.”

Former England midfielder Danny Murphy was damning in his post-match appraisal on BBC One. “That was 90 minutes of bang average football from Wolves,” he said. “Normally you get it for 30 minutes, maybe a half where you’re off it. But in the second half there was no reaction. Show some passion, show some pride.”

Best since 1965 – the stats

  • Burnley completed their first top-flight double over Wolves since the 1956-57 campaign, although the Clarets (7th) finished below Wolves (6th) in the table that season.
  • Burnley registered their second away win by a margin of three or more goals in the Premier League this season (also 3-0 Crystal Palace in February) – the first time they’ve recorded two such away victories in a single top-flight campaign since 1965-66.
  • Wolves’ loss was their heaviest home Premier League defeat since March 2012, when they lost 5-0 to Manchester United.
  • Burnley registered their biggest away win in the English top-flight since a 4-0 victory over Sunderland in November 1965.
  • 63% of Dwight McNeil’s Premier League assists have been for Chris Wood goals (10/16); of all players with at least 15 assists in the competition, McNeil has the highest percentage for one team-mate.
  • Chris Wood became just the third player to score an away first-half Premier League hat-trick after Chris Sutton for Blackburn vs Aston Villa in August 1997 and Michael Owen for Liverpool vs Newcastle in August 1998.

What next?

Wolves have the chance to put things right and push rivals West Brom closer to the drop when they meet on Monday 3 May, while Burnley host West Ham on the same evening.

Man City beat Tottenham to clinch the Carabao Cup for the 4th succession time

$

City defender Aymeric Laporte, arguably fortunate to be on the pitch after escaping a yellow card in the first half before being cautioned after the break, rose above Spurs substitute Moussa Sissoko to head home Kevin de Bruyne‘s free-kick eight minutes from time.

Manchester City won the League Cup for a record fourth time in succession with a deserved victory over a disappointing Tottenham Hotspur side at Wembley.

It was appropriate reward for City creating a host of chances and dominating Spurs, who did not enjoy any sort of positive reaction from sacking manager Jose Mourinho on Monday and replacing him with caretaker Ryan Mason.

The final was played in front of 8,000 supporters, including 2,000 from each club – and it was a delight to hear noise inside Wembley’s vast arena once more. City start their silverware collection
Pep Guardiola’s face was a picture of joy at the end of a week that saw Manchester City heavily criticised as one of the Premier League clubs involved in the ill-fated and quickly abandoned European Super League.

No-one can begrudge City or Guardiola this piece of history, with Laporte’s winner finally giving a performance that was top class in so many areas apart the end product it deserved.

Riyad Mahrez was outstanding while Raheem Sterling was tireless – even if his finishing touch still eludes him.

It means City, who lost the chance of a historic quadruple when they were beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley eight days ago, secure their first trophy of the season three days before their Champions League semi-final first leg at Paris St-Germain.

City are within touching distance of regaining the Premier League title so this cup success, the 30th major trophy of Guardiola’s glittering managerial career, sets the perfect platform for further glory ahead.

The Spaniard’s players may have feared they would pay for their missed chances but anything other than a City win would have been a real injustice even if Laporte was slightly lucky to have received only one yellow card for two cynical fouls on Lucas Moura.

Spurs’ big gambles fail to pay off
It has been an eventual few days for Spurs, with Mourinho surprisingly dismissed at the start of a week in which they were attempting to win their first major trophy since 2008.

Chairman Daniel Levy and the club’s hierarchy simultaneously became a target for criticism over Tottenham’s involvement in the European Super League.

Indeed, one of the first chants from the 2,000 Spurs fans who were reunited inside Wembley was ‘We want Levy out’.

In the context of this cup final, it was a gamble to dispense with Mourinho – who boasts a track record of success on these sort of occasions – and replace him with 29-year-old rookie coach Mason.

If it was designed to lift clouds around this Spurs squad and spark a reaction that might overcome City, it failed miserably. Mason’s side – and it should be stressed he has barely had any time to exert serious influence – were insipid, lacklustre and could have no complaints about the result.

Harry Kane, an injury doubt until late in the build-up after sustaining an ankle injury in the draw at Everton, declared himself fit but looked well off the pace and stayed down on a couple of occasions after challenges.

The England made minimal impact on the game but he was not alone in that respect for Spurs, whose wait for a trophy goes on after a poor display.

City and Pep make history again – the stats

  • Manchester City secured their eighth League Cup title, the joint-most alongside Liverpool. They are the second team to win the competition in four consecutive campaigns (Liverpool, 1981-1984).
  • Only Arsenal (six) have lost more League Cup finals than Tottenham Hotspur (five), with Spurs now losing each of their last three finals in the competition (2008-09 v Man Utd and 2014-15 v Chelsea).
  • Manchester City have won 19 of their 25 League Cup matches under Pep Guardiola (D4 L2); with only Roy Evans (78.3%) posting a higher win percentage among managers in League Cup history than the Spaniard (76%).
  • Tottenham only attempted two shots versus Man City, accumulating an expected goals total of 0.06, while in contrast Guardiola’s side fired in 21 shots and posted an xG of 3.63.
  • Man City boss Pep Guardiola became the first manager to win the League Cup in four consecutive seasons, while no manager has lifted the trophy more times than the Spaniard’s four (level with Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho).
  • Aymeric Laporte became the third French player to score in a League Cup final, after Louis Saha for Manchester United in 2006 and Samir Nasri for Manchester City in 2014.
  • City’s Kevin de Bruyne provided his 17th assist of the season, more than any other Premier League player has registered in all competitions.
  • Spurs’ Ryan Mason became the youngest manager to take charge of a side in a League Cup final (29 years, 316 days), surpassing Gianluca Vialli with Chelsea in 1998 (33 years, 263 days).

ED pressured to act on corruption accused on his nephew Tabani Mpofu

ED pressured to act on corruption accused on his nephew Tabani Mpofu. Tabani Mpofu who is the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (Sacu), which is housed in the president’s office, is accused of extorting prominent businesspeople targeted for arrest on suspicion of committing various crimes.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is allegedly under pressure from Zanu PF bigwigs to act on his alleged nephew, Tabani Vusa Mpofu, who is accused of corruption. It is alleged that Pedzai Sakupwanya, also known as Scott, was made to pay an unknown sum of money to have his fraud case swept under the carpet.

However, a case involving a tycoon from Manicaland where Sacu investigators allegedly demanded payment for coverup is the one that infuriated Zanu PF bigwigs in the province.

Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri reportedly blown the lid on the alleged extortion attempts by the Sacu investigators after she was informed by Chipinge South MP Enock Porusingazi.

Muchinguri-Kashiri is said to have met Mnangagwa over the matter. The Standard spoke to Porusingazi whom they say was vague about his involvement in the matter. He reportedly said:

I have never met Tabani myself, but if your story glorifies that I exposed corruption, then I have no issue with that. At least it helps show the world that corruption can be fought.

This was before he sent a text message saying “I never dealt with the Sacu guys at all” two days later. Meanwhile, Mpofu told The Standard that he was not aware of corruption allegations against him.

I am not aware of the subject you are talking of. Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba dismissed reports that alleged Mnangagwa had fired Mpofu saying “those are mere fabrications making rounds on social media.” He added:

Mpofu is still in charge. The Special Anti-Corruption Unit is an important institution on issues of accountability and transparency, hence the citizens would have been advised of any changes in the unit.

Sacu has been accused of only targeting Mnangagwa’s opponents while turning a blind eye to corruption by those close to the ruling party and government.

Police boss: About 30k officers urgently need accommodation. Commissioner-General Matanga said the current set up is affecting the officers’ execution of their duties at the same time endangering their security. Speaking during his visit to Masvingo police on Thursday last week, Matanga said:

Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Goodwin Matanga has pleaded with the government to urgently provide accommodation for 30 000 police officers who are reportedly renting private accommodation.

I wish to place on record that, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has only 12 000 housing units that are accommodating 18 760 police officers. Of these, 10 945 are sharing. Resultantly, over 30 000 police officers are renting private accommodation, a situation that compromises the security of our members. It is, therefore, my fervent hope and prayer that Government urgently intervenes.

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe also remarked that the shortage of accommodation among police officers was a major concern. He said:

Certainly, resource constraints manifest through an array of challenges, key among them being the shortage of residential and office accommodation, transport and non-payment of travelling and subsistence allowances. The shortage of accommodation which has, unfortunately, resulted in some members seeking private rental accommodation has always been a cause of concern.

This position is unpleasant given that apart from compromising the security of members, it also has huge financial implications. To that end, efforts are being made to ensure police officers and members get decent accommodation.

Kazembe said the government was aware of the challenges the ZRP was facing adding that efforts are being made to improve police effectiveness through the procurement of more operational vehicles.

Man arrested after dating 35 women at the same time for birthday gifts. The accused, Takashi Miyagawa, a part-time worker, is being investigated for allegedly defrauding dozens of women by pretending he was serious about each of their relationships and receiving hundreds of pounds worth of gifts from them.

A 39-year-old Japanese man has been arrested on fraud charges after he reportedly dated over 35 women at the same time as a strategy to receive birthday gifts.

The Japanese international was apparently caught out when the women joined forces to create a victims’ association after discovering his extensive infidelity and reported him to the police.

It is alleged that Migawa gave each woman a different date for his birthday to ensure that he would constantly receive birthday gifts all year round.

One 47-year-old woman reportedly thought his birthday was on February 22, another aged 40 was told it was July, while another 35-year-old believed his birthday was in April.

According to local media, Migawa allegedly received a total of around 100 000 yen (£668) worth of gifts from the women, including a £200 suit.

Aston Villa and West Brom in a 4-goal thriller

West Brom’s faint hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a significant setback after substitute Keinan Davis scored a 92nd-minute equaliser for Aston Villa.

The Baggies fell behind when Anwar El Ghazi marked his return to the side by firing Villa ahead from the penalty spot after Semi Ajayi had clipped Ross Barkley.

They were then awarded a penalty of their own, Matheus Pereira beating Emiliano Martinez to equalise after Ezri Konsa caught Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Brazilian forward Pereira then hit the bar from a free-kick after creating chances for Okay Yokuslu and Maitland-Niles before Mbaye Diagne’s deflected finish off Tyrone Mings looked to have sealed a third win in four games.

But Davis pounced in the closing moments from close range after a defensive mix-up to deny the Baggies, who are now nine points from safety with five games remaining. Baggies edge closer to relegation
West Brom’s players dropped to their knees when referee Stuart Attwell blew for full time after seeing three points ripped from their grasp by Davis’ dramatic goal.

They had shown tremendous character to bounce back from Thursday’s tame defeat at Leicester and come from behind to lead their West Midlands rivals at Villa Park,

West Brom started this game 10 points from safety following Burnley’s handsome win at Wolves earlier on Sunday and could quite easily have collapsed after El Gahzi’s ninth minute penalty.

Instead they clawed their way back with Pereira outstanding, the former Sporting Lisbon player scoring one, hitting the bar and setting up numeous chances for his team-mates.

At the other end Sam Johnstone, whose long clearance led to the second goal, produced a huge save to stop England striker Ollie Watkins from equalising.

But they could not hold on and face a quick return to the Championship one season after winning automatic promotion with Leeds.

ZRP strikes again: Video of a drunk police officer in uniform goes viral. The Zimbabwe Republic Police continues to degrade themselves as its members carry on with their disgracing behaviour. Recently the Police boss was asking for government accommodation for about 30k officers.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Goodwin Matanga has pleaded with the government to urgently provide accommodation for 30 000 police officers who are reportedly renting private accommodation.

It is, therefore, my fervent hope and prayer that Government urgently intervenes.

However, their continued downgrade behaviour will make them continue to lose validity from the members of the public. They do their shenanigans whilst wearing the respected uniform. Just check the video below of the police officer who was recorded whilst drunk. He was going home after what seemed to have attended a beer binge.

Marry Chiwenga seeks remand refusal. Marry is accused of attempting to kill the Vice President when he was in hospital in South Africa in 2019. She is also facing allegations of money laundering.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Chiwenga, on Monday, applied for refusal for further remand when she appeared before regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

Through her lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, Marry argued that it is now 15 months of her attending court with the State failing to complete investigations into the matter. She told the court that the State had promised to complete investigations a month into her arrest, but has failed.

Mtetwa also told the court that the State was aware of the complexity of extra-territorial investigations when they made a one-month promise. She made the application after the State led by Mrs. Mushayabasa applied for a postponement of the matter to allow police to complete investigations into the matter.

Mushayabasa told the court that there were extra-territorial investigations that need to be carried out in South Africa.

Another Air Zim pilot dies under mysterious circumstances. Captain Chituku died while alone at his flat in Highlands, Harare this Sunday late afternoon. His death was announced by Reverend Dr. Lungile Mpetsheni Rhadebe, who is the General Secretary of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa (UPCSA).

An Air Zimbabwe pilot captain Kevin Chituku has died under mysterious circumstances, barely 48 hours after the death of two experienced Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) pilots and a technician in a helicopter crash in Goromonzi.

Kevin’s sister, Lydia Chituku-Neshangwe, who is also a Reverend with a Presbyterian church, also confirmed the death of her pilot brother. She said in a statement:

My brother, Kevin. You used to depart and still land back home. This time you’ve departed, never to come back. May your soul rest in peace. You will always be loved.

Zimbabwe Voice quoted sources as saying nothing much was known as the deceased young pilot was alone. A family member said: Only after the postmortem is conducted will the picture get clearer. Otherwise, we’re all in the dark despite being close family members with our dear departed.

In a message to the church’s members, which the Zimbabwe Voice is in possession of, Dr. Rhadebe consoled the Chituku family and called on members to join in praying for the family. The statement read:

It is with a heavy heart and sadness to inform you that Rev Lydia Neshangwe has lost her brother Kevin Chituku. He was found dead in his house in Highlands, Harare, Zimbabwe this afternoon. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Further details of the will be communicated as they become available.

Let us uphold the Neshangwe and Chituku families in our prayers during this difficult time. Rev Lydia Neshangwe is a minister to St Andrew’s Presbyterian, Hillside, Bulawayo within the Presbytery of Zimbabwe. She is the chaplain of the Moderator of the UPCSA General Assembly.Air-Zimbabwe-pilot-Kevin-Chituku

She is also the Moderator of the Council for World Mission. An Agusta Bell 412 helicopter crashed into an Arcturus house on Friday afternoon, killing Wing Commander Thomas Tinashe Manyowa, Flight Lieutenant Anita Mapiye, and aircraft technician Flight Sergeant Tinodiwanashe Chikamhi, and an 18-month-old toddler Jade Fenyere.
