Work on the country’s largest convention and conferencing facility estimated at a cost of $100 million has started, with the first phase of the project expected to be completed within the next 24 months.

Housed at the Zimbabwe Agriculturural Society (ZAS) premises, the project, a massive undertaking within infrastructural development initiatives is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the country under the meetings and conferencing drive.

Sitting on a total area of 5.8 hectares, the convention centre becomes a flagship stature for the city that will help achieve the envisaged world class city status.

The ground breaking ceremony implemented this Wednesday (today) by the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Honourable July Moyo  signalled a massive stride for the project with an assurance by government to support key infrastructural projects in the country.

Implementation of this project ends years of drought on infrastructural growth in the capital city as it targets to close this gap given the drive towards open business.

The initial stages of the project are already underway with a $2 million filling station expected to be completed by October this year, while the $18 million shopping mall is expected to be complete within the next 24 months.
