EU member states agree to lift air travel ban on SADC countries. European Union (EU) member states have agreed to lift the air travel ban on southern African countries, which will allow more travel to resume.

France, which holds the rotating EU presidency, said in a tweet that the decision lifts the so-called emergency brake introduced in November following the detection of the Omicron, a coronavirus variant in South Africa. Pindula News presents France’s tweet:

Member States have agreed this morning at IPCR meeting to lift the emergency break to allow air travel to resume with southern African countries. Travellers from this area will still be subject to the health measures applicable to travellers from third countries.

European nations had suspended most air travel from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The union maintained the limits even after cases continued to surge around the world, despite an outcry from the region.

Mzansi musician Master KG is feeling aggrieved after his millionaire friend – Prophet Passion Java didn’t invite him at Brooklyn bar to spend a R1.3 million bar bill.

Prophet Passion Java went viral this weekend after social media alleged that he spent over a million rand on alcohol in one night.

Master KG raised eyebrows yesterday when he tagged the Zimbabwean Prophet regarding the R1.3 million bar bill on his Instagram story.

He posted the bill and tagged the prophet captioning his story:

“My millionaire friend @prophetpassion, I hear this is your bill, why you didn’t invite me.”

The philanthropist allegedly spent the money on expensive alcohol at a lifestyle bar in Pretoria.

Passion reportedly ordered:

Jonathan Moyo: ANC and ZANU PF relations are now in smoke

Jonathan Moyo: ANC and ZANU PF relations are now in smoke. Exiled former Information Minister Jonathan Moyo has said ruling revolutionary parties, ZANU PF in Zimbabwe and South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) no longer share cordial relations.

Moyo cited a recent speech that was made by ANC’s President Cyril Ramaphosa during an address on his party’s 110th anniversary in which he did not mention Zimbabwe while calling for the lifting of sanctions against Cuba. Moyo said on Twitter:

The #January8statement at @MYANC’s 110th anniversary by @CyrilRamaphosa called for the unconditional lifting of sanctions against Cuba, solidarity with Palestine and Western Sahara, but was silent on #ZimSanctions: @MYANC/@ZANUPF_Official relations are now in smoke.

Zanu PF and ANC’s relations date back to the days of the two country liberation struggles with both parties assisting each other to attain their independence in 1980 in Zimbabwe and 1994 in South Africa.

Alleged fissures could have been triggered by a decision by the South African government not to renew the Zimbabwe Exemption permits in a development that will see 250 000 Zimbabweans returning back home.

In response, a South African-based ZANU PF (Sandton) branch proposed a ‘Dr (Aaron) Motsoaledi Aviation Bill’ which sought to levy all planes flying through Zimbabwe from South Africa. The Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa distanced itself from the proposal.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to South Africa, David Hamadziripi said that there are no diplomatic tensions between Zimbabwe and South Africa over immigrants.

Another Madzibaba bashed for using a snake: Pics

Another Madzibaba bashed for using a snake: Pics. The above statement, rang true for a self-styled Dzivaresekwa-based faith healer who was on Saturday bashed in Chinhoyi after his tricks, where he fooled people he had removed snakes from their homes, were exposed.

You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Madzibaba Mose went to Chinhoyi on Saturday with the intention to hold a cleansing ceremony. All hell broke loose when his tricks were exposed. Efforts to get in touch with him were fruitless but his shenanigans were exposed through a video recorded by the victims.

In the video he is seen confessing while being beaten. “Bring that snake! Taura kuti nyoka yedu iyi, taurai mese kuti nyoka yedu iyi (tell people that this snake is yours). “Tafadzwa is the one who I work with and I asked him how it’s done.

“He then told me that I have to look for people who can do it. “I asked my fellow colleagues that munorova basa here, uyu aimbonamata before ndokubva adzokera munyika.

“He agreed that that they know how it’s done and we agreed to come here since I have been doing this,” he said. Added Madzibaba Mose:“They told me that they know how to exorcise evil spirits and vanobata zvinhu.Madzibaba assaulted

“Things are not well with me, but my team said vanobata zvinhu pamweya kuti tiwanewo mari, I am pleading to come and confess at the shrine. “We have done it at five houses with other guys.

“I did with another guy called Efinage who has since gone to South Africa over these issues. “He was calling himself a detective. We have conducted five fake cases in White Cliff close to White House.Madzibaba-bashed

“My name is Ebaden,” he confessed. A close source told H-Metro that, Madzibaba Mose is in a habit to con unsuspecting people through using snakes they would have planted.

“They went to Chinhoyi with the intention to perform a cleansing ceremony at a certain house. “It is alleged that they had their snake but I don’t know how they were apprehended.

“He stays in DZ and he calls himself Madzibaba; he normally goes kuMasowe and they have been doing this as a team of three. “So there was another Madzibaba at the same house who exposed them.”

Added another source: “So these guys arrive at your house and act as if they are praying, they can even remove flesh or scary things from your body.Madzibaba-Mose

“On this day it turned out that the victims knew about their actions. “This is their way of living where they pretend as if they have removed troubling goblins which they would have brought,” said the source.

Another source said: “Madzibaba Mose approached some guys who are also doing this and he asked them how they can do it. “They have done it to many houses and on this day they were exposed and got beaten,” said the source.

Lady Squanda: God chose me to lead

Lady Squanda: God chose me to lead. Lady Squanda believes she was chosen by God to lead and change lives of many people especially the girl child.

The self-proclaimed Zim dancehall queen, who is no stranger to controversy, said negative reactions from the people and social media did not deter her as she was misunderstood. Speaking to H-Metro, Lady Squanda said loyal fans and women who look up to her motivate her to keep making music.

“I believe I am something that has never been there. I am a rare and peculiar person. “I never chose to be who I am. God chose me.

“It’s a gift from God, and it makes me strong and keeps me pushing in his career,” said Lady Squanda. “So many women and girls look up to me. I cannot disappoint them.

“I have die-hard fans and I don’t care what people say. “At one point in time my father once told me to quit music after noticing the attacks I face in this industry, but I won’t stop,” she added.

Though Lady Squanda said she was unfazed by the negative comments from people about her art and lifestyle, she does not tolerate some bullying or attacks that affect her family. “I have accepted that being famous comes with criticism.

“I have tolerated it, but I do not like it when it goes far into my family especially my children. “Those are some of the reasons why you might see me having scuffles with some people,” she said.

Lady Squanda said some of the things she does are misunderstood in our society because they are borrowed from Jamaican dancehall culture.

“People should know that Zim dancehall is a borrowed genre from Jamaica. “As a woman if you wear outfits like those Jamaican artists you will be criticised a lot.

“Some of the things we do are for entertainment and it is misunderstood by many,” she told H-Metro. Lady Squanda is one of the first female Zim dancehall chanters who paved the way for many chanters in the genre.

She is undoubtedly one of the women who should be celebrated in the music industry for her contribution despite the controversy in her life.

Jinding Mining speaks on eviction of Mutoko villagers

Jinding Mining speaks on eviction of Mutoko villagers. Jinding Mining Zimbabwe (PVT) LTD, a Chinese owned Zimbabwe registered mining company that is extracting the granite rock from Mutoko has refuted claims that it is planning to evict 50 villagers to pave way for mining activities. Pindula News presents the company’s statement:

1. Jinding Mining Zimbabwe (Private) Limited (Jinding) is a Chinese owned Zimbabwe registered mining company with mining interests in the Mutoko area of Zimbabwe.

2. Jinding has been in Zimbabwe for many years and has always complied with the laws of Zimbabwe with respect to its mining operations. And we have all the legal mining certificates and valid Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate.

3. There is a malicious and false accusation currently being circulated to the effect that Jinding has not properly compensated two Mutoko families for relocating those families from the Jinding mining claims there. As for the so-called relocation of 50 households, it is even more rumors and slander. The fact is that the mining project only involves relocation of THREE families.

4. These accusations are completely groundless. Jinding has all the relocation contracts and payment proof of proper compensation for the two families relocated by Jinding arising out of its mining operations. The compensation amounts cited in the media stories are false. The exact amounts were determined with mutual consent to the satisfaction of the relocated families and with the knowledge of the local councilor, community and representatives of villagers.

5. Jinding takes great exception to these malicious and false accusations and reserves its right to take the appropriate legal action against the purveyors of such false allegations. We will also request our lawyer to send a letter to relevant press and request relevant press to clarify the facts to the public and apologize to Jinding Mining.

AFCON Finals: Algeria 0 – 0 Sierra Leone. The Leone Stars had the better first-half openings, with Alhaji Kamara sending two narrowly wide.

Algeria began the defence of their Africa Cup of Nations title with a goalless draw against a stubborn and spirited Sierra Leone side in Group E.

After the break Algeria forward Yacine Brahimi shot straight at keeper Mohamed Nbalie Kamara, who also tipped a low shot from Riyad Mahrez past the post. Kamara then denied Ramy Bensebaini and Baghdad Bounedjah in stoppage time.

Former England defender Steven Caulker, who recently switched international allegiance to Sierra Leone, made two crucial blocks to help his side to a clean sheet on their first Nations Cup appearance since 1996.

Professor Lovemore Madhuku: By-elections useless

Professor Lovemore Madhuku: By-elections useless. Opposition National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader Lovemore Madhuku yesterday blasted the recently proclaimed by-elections saying they were a waste of resources and of no political significance.

Madhuku, who is a constitutional law expert, told journalists in Harare that the country needs to focus more on implementing electoral reforms ahead of the 2023 general elections.

By-elections will be held on March 26, 2022 to fill in vacancies in 133 National Assembly and local authority seats. The majority of the vacancies arose after the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora recalled MDC Alliance MPs and councillors.

“The particular sets of by-elections, which have been called at this particular time, are a real waste of resources,” Madhuku said.

“In our view as NCA, we believe that the by-elections to be called at this particular point do not have much political value for the country. We are all preparing for the 2023 harmonised elections which are slightly more than a year from now.

“Our view as a party is that the whole country should be geared towards the 2023 elections. Having delayed the by-elections for over one and a half years, it doesn’t make sense to suddenly rush and call for those elections.”

He added that the new legislators who would be elected in the by-elections would have limited time to play their legislative roles as the country was gradually gravitating towards the 2023 elections.

“If we have elections in March, results will come out at month-end and the swearing-in of the elected members will occur in April. Parliament will not be sitting regularly, and towards the end of the year, we will be campaigning for the 2023 general elections,” Madhuku said.

Mwonzora recently also pleaded with Mnangagwa not to call for by-elections, but form a government of national unity, a move which analysts said was meant to shield him from certain defeat at the hands of MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa’s party.

Madhuku also said Mnangagwa had not properly applied his mind when he rushed to proclaim the by-election date.

“We would want to think the President has not properly applied his mind to the timing of these by-elections. It’s a prerogative, yes, but our position is that the prerogative has not been well thought out,” he said.

Woman appears in court fight to block DNA paternity test on son

Woman appears in court fight to block DNA paternity test on son. A woman resisting attempts by her ex-boyfriend to perform a DNA paternity test on their son told a court it was not in the best interests of the child.

Pardon Matavanda has filed an application at the Harare Magistrates Court seeking an order for Lorraine Vimbiso Taruvinga to be compelled to submit their two-year-old son to a DNA testing centre within 14 days.

In a notice of opposition filed on January 6, Taruvinga said Matavanda should have approached the High Court, arguing that the lower court had no jurisdiction. Substantively, she is arguing that submitting her son for a DNA test would violate the child’s constitutional rights.

She said the relief sought by Matavanda “amounts to a violation of the minor child’s constitutional rights, particularly section 52(c) of the constitution which provides the right to bodily and psychological integrity which includes the right not to be subjected to medical or scientific experiments, or the extraction or use of their bodily tissue without informed consent…”

Matavanda said he became suspicious about the child’s paternity after Taruvinga denied him access “several times.”

“I used to believe that the minor child is my biological son and Taruvinga made me believe so. Due to her actions, I now strongly doubt the paternity of the child. I have also tried to engage her to subject the child for paternity tests but she has flatly refused to do so,” Matavanda said in his application.

He told the court that he was in the process of writing his will and would like to include his son as a beneficiary – but he needs confirmation that he is the biological father first. Taruvinga denies blocking Mutavanda’s access to the child.

“If he is honest about seeing our son and that I have denied him access,” she says in court papers, “the competent relief provided by the law is to seek access to the minor child. The allegation that I have denied him access is not a basis upon which any court should grant the relief sought in this matter.”

Taruvinga also rejected Mutavanda’s claim that the DNA test has become important because he is drafting his will. “I am advised that a person writing a will can bequeath his assets to any person even if they are not related. It is not a requirement that someone must know the paternity of a heir for that heir to be included in the will,” she argues.

The matter is yet to be heard.

Prophet T Freddy allegedly shouted, Thank you Lord’ as he r@ped ZBC radio presenter

Prophet T Freddy allegedly shouted, Thank you Lord’ as he r@ped ZBC radio presenter. The 33-year-old woman claimed Freddy shouted ‘Thank you my Lord’ during the attack in her home on a date in November 2020. Freddy, 38, denies the charges.

Prophet Freddy allegedly read widowed rape victim a Bible verse assuring her that her late husband couldn’t see them. A ZBC radio DJ broke down in court on Thursday as she recounted being r@ped by the self-styled prophet Tapiwa Freddy of the Goodness and Mercy Ministries.

Hours before the attack, the widowed woman said the married Freddy had driven her to her rural home in Chiendambuya and then back to Harare.

The preacher, the court heard, had requested to pray for the woman’s son claiming that some evil spirits were pursuing the boy. Freddy also prayed for her whole family before he drove back to Harare.

She had started speaking to Freddy after approaching him to pray for her ailing husband in November 2019. Freddy, the court heard, paid medical bills for the woman’s husband after he was admitted at Karanda Mission Hospital.

He died weeks later and Freddy provided financial assistance during the burial. Within months, the woman told the court that Freddy started courting her, complimenting her beauty and promising to take care of her and her son.

She told Freddy that it was a taboo in Shona culture to date another man before a year lapsed following the death of one’s husband, the court heard.

The woman testified: “In January (2020) I went to thank the accused for his assistance during my husband’s illness and after he died. A month later, he started calling saying ‘ma’am you’re glowing. Inini moyo wangu waperera pauri sekufirwa kwawaita ndokwanisa kukuchengeta (My heart yearns for you. With the bereavement you have just had, I can look after you.’

“I told him that it is was a taboo and he seemed to have understood. But in October, he said he feared that other men would snatch me. He said, ‘I want to take care of you and your child’.” That led to the November 2020 date when they returned to her house in Mt Pleasant Heights, arriving after 7PM.

Freddy, she said, helped her carry some bags inside. She thought he had left when she went into a bathroom to refresh.

“While I was in the toilet, I heard him walking into the house, but I didn’t know which room he went into,” she said. “I got out of the toilet and went to the bedroom and I found him lying on the bed. He had removed his shoes and there was a gun in one of the shoes.

“I then sat on a chair and asked him why he was on my bed. The accused called my name asking why I ‘make life impossible’. He quoted a Bible verse saying that my late husband would not know a thing about it because he was dead.

“He said he was not comfortable with the belt, and removed it. Then he stood up and locked the door before throwing the keys under the bed. He told me that from that day, I should accept him as my husband.”

After undressing, the woman, who has one arm, said Freddy “held me with his powerful hands and I failed to fight him.”

“He threw me on the bed… He was pressing me down with his stomach while on top of me saying that I should not turn down the anointing he was going to give me,” she said. The court heard Freddy was saying “Thank you my Lord” as he r@ped her.

Freddy, she testified, told her of other women who died because they “refused the anointing” or told other people they had been raped.

Freddy allegedly used an example of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance ministries founder Walter Magaya, whose alleged girlfriend died in Botswana.

The woman remembered: “He said ‘our Gods are different, mine is a killer’.” The woman told the court that Freddy also told her he could get her fired from the ZBC because he was in good books with her boss.

When the trial kicked off on Wednesday, Freddy said his accuser was driven by malice. He said they had consensual sex and she only reported him for rape after he called time on their affair.

The trial continues.

AFCON Finals: Leicester City’s Iheanacho scored as Nigeria beat Egypt 1 – 0

AFCON Finals: Leicester City’s Iheanacho scored as Nigeria beat Egypt 1 – 0. The Leicester City striker opened the scoring in the 30th minute, burying a stunning half-volley on the turn.

Kelechi Iheanacho was on target as Nigeria comfortably beat seven-time champions Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener.

Nigeria dominated throughout, with Egypt keeper Mohamed El Shenawy tipping a Taiwo Awoniyi header on to the bar and twice denying Chidera Ejuke. The Pharaohs offered little in response after falling behind in Garoua.

Iheanacho soars for Super Eagles
Iheanacho’s performance up front will be a welcome relief to Super Eagles supporters, with fellow Nigeria strikers Victor Osimhen, Emmanuel Dennis and Odion Ighalo all forced out of the squad for Cameroon.

The Foxes man impressed throughout the first half, feeding in Awoniyi who saw a tame effort saved shortly before the break. Nigeria, three-time African champions, continued to push for a second after half-time with El Shenawy twice keeping out substitute Chidera Ejuke in the closing stages.

Ultimately though one goal was enough for the West Africans, lead by interim manager Augustin Eguavoen with new boss Jose Peseiro only observing from the stands.

The Super Eagles had sacked long-serving boss Gernot Rohr just four weeks before the tournament following an underwhelming World Cup qualification campaign.

Pharaohs fall flat in opener
Egypt were lacklustre for much of the proceedings, managing just one shot in the opening 70 minutes.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Anfield, repeatedly found himself isolated up front as Nigeria dictated the match’s tempo.

The forward was played through by substitute Ahmed Sayed with 20 minutes remaining but his mishit shot was saved by the legs of Nigeria keeper Maduka Okoye. Nigeria will face Sudan in Group D on Saturday (16:00 GMT), while Egypt take on Guinea-Bissau (19:00 GMT).

Chris Radebe in love with actress Lerato Mvelase

Playwright and actor Chris Radebe could be deeply falling in love with fellow actress, Lerato Mvelase.

From time to time he has been dropping some sweet suggestive messages about Lerato.

A lot of people have suggested they stop playing hide and seek and start dating.

In a recent post, he wrote: “My female visitor was attacked outside my house this morning, as she was parking her car. According to neighbours, two women pulled up next to her as she was getting out of the car and started slapping her, calling her stupid for dating me. One neighbour recalls: ‘the one with short hair hit her with a spear like Edge from TV, and the other one choke-slammed her,’ Poor Mrs Van Rooyen starts crying as she relives the gruesome incident.

‘When the nice lady was on the floor,’ Derek Miyambo chimes in, ‘crying and begging for forgiveness, the two monsters high-fived each other, laughed in Zulu, and drove away, blasting an Amakeyboard song.’ Obviously, he meant Amapiano. He was just still traumatised from the incident. The neighbours came together and gave the above descriptions for the perpetrators. If you recognise any of these mean faces, kindly please DM me. The good news is my female visitor is recuperating at home. Sadly, she refuses to take my calls out of fear of being attacked again. But it’s fine. We move. Thank you,” the post continued.

Lerato responded with laughing emojis and wrote: “Chris what is this. Gosh, you’re insane. I’m literally peeing on myself. What do you want Chris, please just tell me, I’m begging you. Muntu.”

In another post, he wrote: “Ever think about calling your mean ex with a private number and dumping them again. Lerato Mvelase please answer you phone it’s urgent.”

Back in 2019, they two toyed with the idea of “happily waiting”.

According to Chris, this would mean they start dating while they are waiting for their partners.

Sthembile Makhathini posted: “Mara Chris cha uyazifela ngo Lerato.”

Phila Ngwenya commented: “Whatever @lerato_mvelase did to you, please forgive her.”

If you’ve so much as logged on to a social media site this weekend, then you probably saw the wild antics of partygoers at the 012 Lifestyle venue in Pretoria. A whopping R1.3 million bar bill was racked up – and Passion Java was the man picking up the tab.

Passion Java

Allegedly, Java – who has become a multi-millionaire through his work as an eccentric pastor – was not in attendance on Saturday, but he had no problems with paying the seven-figure sum. Learn More

Hamutendi Kombayi bounces back as Gweru Mayor after defeating Chamisa’s ally. Hamutendi Kombayi has bounced back as Gweru mayor following his triumph over Nelson Chamisa’s ally, Martin Chivhoko in an election held Tuesday after beating.

Kombayi who belongs to the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora was fired as the mayor of Gweru in 2017 by the then Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

He replaces Josiah Makombe who was recalled as councillor by the MDC-T late last year. Kombayi, a well-known businessman in Gweru, got 11 votes against four won by Chivhoko from Chamisa’s MDC Alliance.

In a brief speech after the election, the mayor called for unity in the deeply divided Gweru City Council. He said:

I am urging unity amongst us councillors for the development of our city. What is core to our mission as councillors, is to bring development to our city. Kombayi is the son of late popular Gweru businessman and politician, Patrick Kombayi.

AFCON Finals: Guinea-Bissau missed a penalty as they were held to a draw by Sudan

AFCON Finals: Guinea-Bissau missed a penalty as they were held to a draw by Sudan. Midfielder Pele saw his 82nd-minute spot-kick kept out by Sudan goalkeeper Ali Abou Achrine, with Piqueti striking the bar on the rebound.

Guinea-Bissau missed a late penalty as they were held by Sudan in their Group D opener in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Abou Achrine had been adjudged to have fouled Steve Ambri inside the area. Guinea-Bissau’s Joseph Mendes also hit the post with a first-half header and Frederic Mendy saw an effort cleared off the line late on.

Earlier in Group D Kelechi Iheanacho was on target as Nigeria comfortably beat seven-time champions Egypt. The result means Guinea-Bissau have failed to score in each of their past five Nations Cup matches and now face an uphill battle to reach the knockout stage for the first time.

Sudan, who were appearing in the tournament for the first time in 10 years, seemed content with a point at full-time with interim coach Burhan Tia managing the 1970 champions for the first time in a competitive match.

The Secretary Birds sacked former boss Hubert Velud last month after a disastrous showing in the Arab Cup where they conceded 10 goals and failed to score across their three games.

Mohamed Abdelrahman went closest for Sudan, forcing a good stop from Guinea-Bissau goalkeeper Maurice Gomis on the stroke of half-time. Sudan will face Nigeria in Group D on Saturday (16:00 GMT), while Guinea-Bissau take on Egypt (19:00 GMT).

EPL: Southampton comfortably beat Brentford 4 – 1 to move up to 11th

Jan Bednarek gave the hosts the early lead when he glanced in a header from James Ward-Prowse’s left-wing corner. Southampton comfortably beat Brentford to move up to 11th in the Premier League – in front of the Saints’ new owner Dragan Solak.

Brentford equalised with their first shot on target thanks to Vitaly Janelt’s excellent sliced volley after Bryan Mbeumo’s cross.

But the Saints retook the lead as Ibrahima Diallo shot goalwards and it bounced off the post and off Bees’ goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez for an own goal.

Shortly after the restart, the hosts added a third when Armando Broja raced on to Oriel Romeu’s fine through ball and calmly finished past Fernandez.

Substitute Che Adams, back after a Covid-19 absence, scored within five minutes of coming on, reaching a long pass before the Brentford goalkeeper and poking in a fourth – the first time Southampton have scored four times in a Premier League match this season.

This was the first home game for Southampton since it was confirmed that the Sport Republic group had bought Chinese businessman Gao Jisheng’s 80% stake of the club earlier this month.

Serb media mogul Solak, who financially backed the takeover, was at St Mary’s and saw his new side record only their fifth league win of the season.

The Saints move above Brentford, who missed a chance to move into the top half and instead drop to 13th.

Poor Brentford easily beaten
For Brentford, this result continues a worrying run of form away from home which has seen them pick up only two points on the road from their past six league matches.

After falling behind to Bednarek’s header, they equalised on 23 minutes when Mbeumo, who had scored a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over Port Vale in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, crossed and Janelt showed excellent skill to cut across the ball and volley home.

Janelt instantly had a chance to put the Bees ahead but saw his 25-yard powerful strike parried well by home goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

But after the Saints regained their advantage, the hosts pulled cleared and scored twice more to run out worthy winners and inflict the heaviest defeat of the season on the visitors. Both Ivan Toney and Mbeumo had efforts saved late on by Forster, but Brentford boss Thomas Frank was unhappy with his side’s performance and will need an instant improvement as their next game is at Liverpool on Sunday.

“Every game you win or learn and we will learn a lot from that,” said Frank. “It will be so hard to watch it back but it’s a reminder that you have to play every game at 100% and if you don’t you get punished.

“We need to look at ourselves. We gave five chances away and they scored four of them. In the first half we need to be much better on the ball and in the second half we were too open.

“It hits so hard because we want to be good at defending and have done that all season but here we have not done it well enough.”

Douglas Mwonzora: MDC, MDC Alliance and all derivatives are our names. He speaks ahead of the March 26 by-elections in which MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa is intending to participate.

MDC-T leader, Douglas Mwonzora has said no other party is allowed to use the name MDC or its derivatives in any election as it is their identity.  Meanwhile, Chamisa has hinted at using a different name.

Below is Mwonzora’s letter to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission:

Re: Signatories for Candidates For the Movement for Democratic Change

We advise that in the forthcoming by-elections we intend to field candidates in Parliament and Local Government. We are the owners of the Movement for Democratic Change name. Over the years there has had so many derivatives put on it. However, the leadership of this party was defined by the Supreme Court in the judgment in SC 56/20.

Pursuant to this judgment the party held its Extraordinary Congress on the 27’h of December 2020 where I was elected the substantive President of the Party. By virtue of the Composite Political Agreement signed on the 5’h of August 2017 and the subsequent meetings of the MDC Alliance, I assumed the leadership of the MDC Alliance.

We, therefore, advise that our signatories for the candidates of the Movement for Democratic Change and its derivatives in the coming elections and by-elections are:

Douglas Togaraseyi Mwonzora — President

Morgen Komichi — National Chairman

Paurina Mpariwa — Secretary-General

Ghandi Mudzingwa — Secretary for Elections

We advise that no one else is allowed to sign for and present candidates for and on behalf of the MDC, any of its derivatives and the MDC Alliance.

We attach hereto the relevant signature forms for your information. 1 also attach the constitution of the MDC, the Supreme Court judgment and the Alliance Agreement.
