There was a turbulent atmosphere along Lagos/Ibadan expressway on Tuesday after passersby discover the bodies of a couple who died inside a Sienna vehicle during s.e.x.

According to reports by residents of the area, the Sienna vehicle has been there for two days before a young man who passed by raised an alarm after peeping through the vehicle’s windscreen.

A video of the incident captures the vehicle’s particulars including the plate numbers, with a voice behind the camera urging friends and families of the deceased to visit the nearest police station close to Nasrul-Lahi-Li-Fathi Society (NASFAT) building to claim the bodies and the vehicle.

A businessman from Dangamvura in Mutare who was being intimate with his girlfriend inside a car parked in a maize field was robbed by two assailants who then took turns to rape his lover.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the robbery incident saying detectives are still investigating the case.

The Manica Post quoted a police source handling the case as saying the entrepreneur, who runs several shops in Dangamvura, was having quality time with his girlfriend when the robbers pounced. Said the source:

On the day in question, the businessman picked up his girlfriend from Gimboki and went to a maize field close to Dangamvura Greenmarket and became intimate.

Two unknown assailants approached them and ordered them to surrender their cellphones and cash.

The suspects were armed with Okapi knives and threatened them with death if they resisted.

The businessman was only wearing a pair of trousers which were dropped to knee level, while his girlfriend was only wearing a blouse.

The businessman surrendered his cellphone and US$20. He tried to run away but was pursued by one of the assailants who assaulted him.

The suspect removed his pair of trousers and allowed him to escape naked.

The businessman was picked up by a motorist who ferried him to Dangamvura Police Station to make a report.

The assailants reportedly raped the woman before melting into the darkness. She later walked home alone.

The businessman later went back to the scene in the company of some police detectives.

DJ Black Coffee gave Riky Rick’s fans and close friends a special look the intricacies that made up his friendship with the late rapper at the memorial service on Friday.

The DJ opened up about how hard he took the rapper’s death.

“I never write speeches, I always try to speak from the heart but not today. I don’t have the heart to speak… I was unfortunately not around on Tuesday, I wish I was. I had to watch everything on line and it was hard,” he said before taking a deep breath.

Black Coffee lambasted publications that published Riky’s leaked last letters to his wife and children.

“I wanna speak about something that didn’t sit well with me and that is seeing Riky’s last words on a newspaper.”

“I mean, why was something as delicate and special as Riky last words on a newspaper? Written by a black man? Why are we embarrassing ourselves so much? Why are we not at this point building ourselves as black people and making sure that we slowly become the generation that we’ve always wanted to be?”

“Riky didn’t deserve that. Riky was a beautiful human being. Everywhere he went he spread love,” Black Coffee said.

The DJ spoke about how Riky was always giving off positive vibes and how he showed unconditional love to people. He also spoke about how he was the life of the party even though he was struggling privately and remembered how the rapper reached out for help from him.

“In November, after a night out with Riky and some few friends, early in the morning I woke up and got a message from Riky. He was like ‘OG, Sorry to do this to you but I need to talk to you. I’m going through so much. I don’t wanna let people down, can we please meet.’ I was like, this guy, last night he was the life of the party and I didn’t see anything … and I was like, ‘OK cool, let’s meet.’”

The DJ said they couldn’t meet immediately and even though he followed up with Riky, the meeting never happened. In retrospect, Coffee said he believed Riky didn’t want the follow-up meeting.

“I realised that Riky actually didn’t want to meet. He just wanted to let me know where he was and how he was feeling. Riky knew that there’s nothing I can do for him. Riky had his own relationship with God, they spoke to each other.”

Before concluding, Black Coffee talked about his own emotional rollercoaster.

“Last week Wednesday, going through my own emotional turmoil, in my moment of weakness, I put up a tweet. And I then realised that people are now concerned, asking what’s going on … I didn’t want that, then I deleted the tweet. Thursday I woke up to Riky’s news and the first thing I thought of was my tweet. Riky saw my tweet and I was the strong OG Riky called. He called me … and now the strong OG is weak.

“I could not take Riky’s death. I was destroyed because I blamed myself so much. I even blame myself for not trying hard enough to see him. I thought I should have done better. Maybe I should have called his mom.”

The DJ said he is now comforted by old interviews and interactions that have showed him that Riky knew he wasn’t going to be here for long.

A Russian businessman, Alex Konanykhin, has put a US$1 million bounty on President Vladimir Putin’s head and asked Russian military officers to arrest him as a war criminal.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the crypto investor and California-based businessman said he will use his own funds for the bounty to “facilitate the denazification of Russia.” Said Konanykhin:

I promise to pay $1 000 000.00 to the officer(s) who, complying with their constitutional duty, arrest(s) Putin as a war criminal under Russian and international laws.

… As an ethnic Russian and a Russia citizen, I see it as my moral duty to facilitate the denazification of Russia.

I will continue my assistance to Ukraine in its heroic efforts to withstand the onslaught of Putin’s Orda.

He accused Putin of violating the Russian constitution by “eliminating free elections” and “murdering his opponents.”

Konanykhin said he has not visited Russia since 1992. He was granted political asylum in the US in 1999 but his asylum was revoked four years later.

His asylum status was reinstated in 2007.

Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on Thursday last week, sending over 1 million Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Poland and Hungary, among other countries in just eight days.

OLIVER “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s widow, Daisy, has expressed shock and dismay at South African scammers who are duping desperate jobs-seekers using a bogus agency registered in their family name.

A link, under the name Tuku Music Job Agency, has been circulating on social media where unsuspecting job-seekers have reportedly been swindled of cash by the con artists.

Under the terms and conditions of the agency, run by one Derby Mtukudzi, ‘‘stay out maids’’ who want jobs in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, are required to pay a non-refundable R400 agent fee.

In return, claims the agency, maids will be paid R200 per day.

The same advert stipulates that one should be in possession of a valid passport or asylum records.

Locals should simply produce their South African passports to be employed after paying the agent fee.

However, it turned out that the agency is bogus after scores of people made enquiries with Tuku’s family.

“We have learnt with shock and dismay that there is someone using our family name to con people in South Africa promising them jobs. There is nothing like that and we have never established a job-seeking agency under our stable.

“In fact, there is nothing like that (Tuku Music Job Agency) in our business interests so we urge people to be cautious that they don’t become victims of the scammers,” she said.

Daisy also told H-Metro that there is nobody like Derby Mtukudzi, in Tuku’s family.

“It’s very unfortunate that there is no one like Derby Mtukudzi that I know in Tuku’s family.

“In short, I urge people to stop being scammed by dubious people. Those who want to get authentic information about the family should, at least, call us here in Zimbabwe and find out from us the authenticity of the agency,” she said.

She, however, conceded it was hard bringing to book the scammers, who had duped several people.

“In these days of social media, it’s hard to find who is behind this because these con artists are clever.

“My only advice to the people is that we are distancing ourselves from the scammers.

“I am happy in Norton and I am currently doing my best to fend for my family so I don’t have all the time for that scam,” she added. Similar sentiments were echoed by Tuku’s daughter Selmor who laughed off the claims.

It has just come to my attention that there are criminals in South Africa who are using our family name to steal money from innocent and naive people.

“There is no Tuku Music Job Agency in South Africa, there is nobody called Derby Mtukudzi in our family; we distance ourselves from all these WhatsApp groups.

“We do not know these people. If you know who they are please report them asap.

“Hanzi Tuku Music Dancing Girls . . .Kana mazogara guys, musabirwe mari nezvakapusa kudai.

“Makambonzwa Dancing Girls kwaTuku rinhi nhai/

“Ndotoseka hangu nhamo kunge rugare. Mwari ivai nevanhu venyu,” wrote Selmor in her Facebook post.

Some of her friends claimed they were victims of the scammers while others urged desperate job seeks to be on the lookout.

Warne took 708 Test wickets, the second most of all time, in 145 matches across a stellar 15-year career.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) change champion in chief, Nelson Chamisa, on Friday graced the funeral of a murdered party member, Mboneni Ncube’s funeral in Sibomvo village Vungu, Midlands Province.

Ncube was stabbed to death by suspected ZANU PF supporters during a CCC campaign rally at Mbizo 4 Shopping Centre in Kwekwe on Sunday afternoon.

Posting on Twitter, Chamisa described Ncube as a great citizen and change champion saying his hope for change is not in vain. He wrote:

President Emmerson Mnangagwa took the National Clean-Up Campaign to Chegutu’s Pfupajena Suburb this Friday, where he rallied Zimbabweans to maintain hygiene at a family level.

Prior to partaking in the clean-up campaign in the P-Square area in the suburb, President Mnangagwa planted the Sausage tree or Kigelia Africana at the town’s community development centre.

The clean-up was conducted along a street leading to West End Shopping Centre from the Community Development Centre.

President Mnangagwa commended Chegutu for its efforts in maintaining cleanliness standards and rallied Zimbabweans to not only clean up public places and streets but to maintain hygiene within their homes.

“Chegutu is viewed as better than other towns in terms of cleanliness. Keep it up. Let’s not take the clean-up exercises on streets and public places only, but let’s ensure we also maintain hygiene at our homes,” he said.

Several cabinet ministers and Government Officials also joined the President for the clean-up campaign.

After the clean-up campaign, the President handed over computers to Pfupajena Primary and Secondary Schools which is part of the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services’ National E-learning strategy.

A 3-year-old infant died at Mphilo hospital in Bulawayo where she had been admitted when she started vomiting after eating pap and milk. The infant also had bruises and fresh cuts on her body.

In a statement, the ZRP which is already seized with the matter said the infant’s stepmother confessed that she assaulted her with a cooking stick. We present the police report:

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case where an infant (3) died in the custody of a stepmother (27) after eating sadza and sour milk on 03/02/22. The victim started vomiting before being taken to hospital where she died on admission.

Bruises and fresh cuts were observed on the victim’s body and the suspect confessed that she assaulted her with a cooking stick and switches. Meanwhile, the body was conveyed to Mpilo Hospital for post-mortem.

The 27-year-old stepmother, Nothando Ndlovu, has since been arrested.

The first was posted by South African award-winning songstress, Kelly Khumalo, where she talked about finding the source of what is causing the depression, while the other post was by @fentselite_ (Ofentse Mogotsi) where he reposted a video titled “Something had to die, but it wasn’t me.
Listening to these video inspired Somizi to take a new direction in life, and in his video he said he was releasing himself from the “prison of his thoughts”.

“I am detaching, something is dying today, it is that belief system that ’I am.. because of’. I am freeing myself from that. I am living, I am going to live, they are dying today,” he said.

“If you are thinking of suicide today, I plead with you to think the way I think because I also do have suicidal thoughts, I did have suicidal thoughts, I have never attempted it, but I’ve had because of the s*** going on in my life, but today after seeing those videos I’ve realised I don’t want to die, I want to live, but the things causing me pain have to die,” he continued. His advice to depressed people is to look deep within themselves and see that they are bigger than their problems.

“You will realise that you are bigger than those things, your God is bigger than all those things. Something has to die and it is not you,” he said.

A parliamentary report on Command Agriculture has indicated that former Finance minister, Patrick Chinamasa, and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) superintended over a shady and illegal process through dubious approvals of Treasury Bills that have saddled the government with a debt of nearly US$1.6 billion.

According to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report presented on Thursday Chinamasa and the RBZ disregarded the law in discharging the programme.

Members of Parliament are now calling on the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to probe their actions.

Parliamentarians have also called for a forensic audit to establish how much the country lost in the shady arrangement, done outside the tender process.

MPs under the committee chaired by Gweru Urban legislator Brian Dube said they also want the executive to take the findings of the report seriously and act.

Several companies including Sakunda Holdings owned by business tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei, who is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s adviser, are implicated in the report. Sakunda got millions of dollars without going through requisite tender processes.

Other companies which took part in the Command Agriculture programme are FSG, Quton, Pedstock, Cottco, Sable Chemicals, Valley Seeds, Seed Co, Windmill and ZFC.

The MPs said the report came about as a result of a “normal routine” that looked into audited accounts for the years 2017 and 2018.

MPs said this quickly imploded into a major inquiry when the committee noted a huge “unallocated reserve” amounting to US$1 559 713 867 exposed by the 2017 report by the Auditor-General on the ministry of Agriculture that established the variance. The report read in part:

According to a schedule received from the Auditor-General, the ministry of Agriculture was supposed to have received US$1 633 617 652 from Treasury. However, as at 10 May 2018, the ministry of Agriculture confirmed having received only US$73 903 785.

Although the Auditor-General’s reports relate the figures to the ‘Unallocated Reserve’, the amounts referred to above were in fact unbudgeted for expenditure spent outside Parliament’s approved budget as shown in the figures in the Appropriation Account, the Budget and the Blue Book.

The PAC said these huge amounts were spent outside the Appropriation Act in breach of the Constitution of Zimbabwe and the Public Finance Management Act.

Agriculture ministry officials said the Finance ministry and the RBZ were in full control of the Command Agriculture.

MPs accused the ministry of Agriculture of not being proactive, adding they should have played a meaningful role in their operations by interrogating their role in the whole maize production matrix.

Ministry of Finance officials admitted that there had been unauthorised expenditure through Command Agriculture for the years 2017 and 2018 as captured in the Auditor-General’s statements.

The report says RBZ governor, John Mangundya, felt that the issues of compliance with the constitution and the law were not his problem but were the ministry of Finance’s problem.

Medics will vaccinate about 2.9 million young children against polio in Malawi, the United Nations said on Thursday, after a three-year-old girl fell sick in the capital with Africa’s first case of wild poliovirus in more than five years.

The southern African country declared a polio outbreak two weeks ago after tests confirmed the infection and showed the strain was linked to one circulating in Pakistan, where it is still endemic. The resurgence of the wild poliovirus in Malawi is cause for serious concern,” Rudolf Schwenk, the head of the UN children’s agency UNICEF in Malawi, said in a statement. Vaccination is the only way to protect the children of Malawi from this crippling disease which is highly infectious.

Polio is a highly infectious disease that invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis within hours. While there is no cure, it can be prevented by vaccine, the World Health Organization has said. UNICEF Malawi said it will procure and distribute 6.9 million polio vaccine doses for the children, all of them aged under five.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has denied responsibility for the messy voters’ roll and accused political parties instead.

The electoral body said political parties issued their supporters affidavits with similar addresses during the voter registration exercise resulting in about 40 people, according to Team Pachedu, being sometimes registered under one residential address.

ZEC however denied being responsible for the anomaly.

Pressure groups and opposition political parties have been highly critical of ZEC after discrepancies were identified in the voters’ roll to be used in the March 26 by-elections.

Data experts studying the voters’ roll have unearthed several other anomalies on the voters’ roll, among them names of 3 253 people aged 100 years or more, including 11 who are older than the oldest known surviving person on earth in the Guinness World Book of Records.

This has led to suspicions ZEC was plotting to rig the elections in favour of the ruling party, ZANU PF.

However, in a statement Friday, ZEC disowned the voters’ roll which was recently leaked, saying the document was tampered with intentions to discredit the elections management body.

ZEC chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana spoke on the anomalies:

Some politicians are the chief culprits of this problem. The commission has now and again deliberated on this issue in our multi-party liaison committees, but to no avail.

They are the ones who facilitate their supporters to be registered and some of them have been doing so during the current voter registration blitz and have set up desks where they commission affidavits for their supporters for presentation to our registration officers as proof of residence.

Our registration is done offline and there is no way the commission can tell that there is a high number of people who have registered under the same address.

Silaigwana said the commission did not have the capacity to determine whether the addresses provided were genuine or not.

In separate interviews with NewZimbabwe.com, ZANU PF, Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) and MDC Alliance denied the accusations.

Nigerian medical student Oduola Adebowale said he and some friends were trying to get on a train to flee Ukraine when the soldiers pointed guns at them and ordered them back. The Ukrainian troops told him they were only letting pregnant woman on the service from the city of Lviv to the Polish border, but he said he saw them stop some pregnant African women from getting on board.

“When we asked why they were doing this, the soldiers pointed guns at us, endangering our lives,” he told Reuters days later after he finally managed to complete his journey and landed at Nigeria’s Abuja airport on Friday.

Scores of foreign students have echoed his complaints in social media posts, saying they were treated badly as they queued up with the crowds trying to escape Russia’s invasion.

Reuters could not independently verify the accounts of Asian and African students being pulled off trains, held up at borders and pushed to the back of long lines.

Ukraine’s national police and state border service did not immediately respond to requests for comment on reports that Reuters had received from refugees.

But the African Union said this week it was disturbed by what it had heard and the U.N. refugee agency said it had urged authorities in countries neighbouring Ukraine to open their borders to African citizens.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said on Wednesday authorities had sent up a hotline for African and Asian students looking for help in getting out. “We are working intensively to ensure their safety & speed up their passage,” he tweeted.

Adebowale did finally manage to get away, after waiting for hours for a train at Lviv then getting permission to travel to Romania. He was among 415 Nigerian students who flew into Abuja on a Nigerian government-chartered flight from Bucharest. The government has also sent planes to collect Nigerians from Poland and Hungary.

One student still waiting in Warsaw told Reuters via Zoom he and two fellow Nigerians were pulled off a train they had boarded in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.

“We were already in our cabin, and they called police on us. The police came and dragged us out. Police (said) that ‘this is specifically for Ukrainians’,” Alexander Orah, a 25-year-old management student, said.

Orah said he and his friends were eventually allowed to board a train to Medyka, on the border with Poland, but then met guards who told them that Africans, South Asians and Arabs had to use a different crossing into Romania.

When the students refused, he said the guards put up barricades to stop them crossing while allowing white people to leave. When the growing crowd began to move forward, a soldier pointed a gun at them, he said.

“He cocked his gun and stood in a shooting position, so we raised our hands up and started telling him, ‘We are students; we just want to go home’.” Orah eventually made to the Polish capital and started looking for his next exit.

The special tribute celebration was held for fallen Hip Hop legend Riky Rick in Johannesburg. Big names in the entertainment industry including Sizwe Dhlomo, Black Coffee, and Cassper Nyovest spoke at the farewell. During Sizwe Dhlomo’s speech, which is trending on social media, he spoke profoundly about the type of person Riky was.

“That one thing I did notice though was he had genuine spirit. And so, I figured that’s part of the reason why him and L.E.S got along. If you know L.E.S, you’ll know what I mean cause he embodies a spirit that is very rare in this business. That spirit is the reason why I’m standing here today. He describes Riky as an imperfect man trying to do better.

“I feel compelled and a sense of duty to try and contextualize a man that so many knew but so few understood. I’m here to honour Rikhado Makhado an imperfect man who was constantly trying to do better.

“Riky was always either offering guidance or seeking it. I’m not the sort of person to share conversations I had with people but what I can tell you is that the last few times when I spoke to Riky was that he felt we should help. That’s the kind of a man that he was.”

Sizwe further stated that we’ll never know why Riky did what he did but If you were a confidant of the late rapper then you’ll know that these were thoughts that he battled with daily.

“The news of his passing came as a shock to many of us. It was tragic and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. I can’t tell you why he did what he did. We’ll probably never understand it but what I can tell you is that if you were fortunate enough to have been a confidence of Riky then you’ll know that these were thoughts that he lived with daily.

“Not because he didn’t love his life and not because he didn’t love his wife, not because he didn’t love his family. He loved them dearly and I’m sure as you might have heard on Tuesday, they loved him too,” he shared.

He adds that Riky probably managed to hold on because of his family. He thanked his family for sharing such an amazing soul with us.

“The truth is, Riky was probably able to hold on for too long because of his family, despite having been plagued by personal demons from a young age. On Tuesday, at the funeral his family thanked him for sharing his gift with them. Today, at his memorial I’d like to thank his family for sharing him with us,” said Sizwe.
