Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan meets opposition leader Mbowe hours after he is freed

Tanzania’s president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, on Friday met with the main opposition party’s leader, Freeman Mbowe, the presidency said, hours after prosecutors dropped terrorism charges against Mbowe and set him free.

Mbowe, chairman of Chadema party, was detained last July in the lakeside town of Mwanza where he was due to attend a conference on proposals for a new constitution. President Samia emphasised the need to join hands to build the nation, through trust and respect built on the foundations of justice,” her office said in a statement, announcing the meeting.

The statement quoted Mbowe saying they had agreed to be civil in their politics, and that he would cooperate with the government in its quest to develop the East African country.

He was charged in court on July 26, in spite of protests from his party that the charges were politically motivated. The director of prosecutions has dropped charges of economic crimes and terrorism,” Chadema said on its Twitter feed. Three co-accused were also freed, the party said.

Mbowe’s supporters, who had flocked into court to follow the trial, cheered after the decision to drop the charges was announced, while his lawyers hugged each other.
His detention and trial had raised questions about Hassan’s commitment to greater tolerance for political dissent.

Hassan, who took over after the death of her predecessor John Magufuli in March last year, lifted a ban on four newspapers and met the exiled top opposition leader in Brussels last month, stirring hopes of greater tolerance for political dissent.

Government officials deny accusations of rights violations and stifling democracy. The government’s partners welcomed Mbowe’s freedom. Today’s dismissal of the case against Freeman Mbowe is a welcome opportunity for Tanzania to turn the page and focus on the future,” said Donald Wright, the U.S. ambassador to Tanzania.

Leicester City 1 – 0 Leeds United

Jesse Marsch’s first game as Leeds boss ended in defeat as Harvey Barnes scored the only goal to give Leicester their second Premier League win of the week.

The winger produced Leicester’s one moment of attacking quality with a precise angled finish midway through the second half of a game in which they had been largely second best.

It has been an emotional week for Leeds since the departure of Marsch’s much-loved predecessor Marcelo Bielsa following a chastening month in which they conceded 20 goals and picked up only one point from a possible 15.

But they produced a lively and energetic display at the King Power Stadium that showcased a change of shape and the hard-pressing, direct football preferred by their American manager.

Better finishing from Jack Harrison, Rodrigo, Junior Firpo or Raphinha would have given Leeds a win they so desperately need to ease their relegation concerns.

Having spurned them, they left themselves vulnerable to a decisive moment like the one Barnes produced.

Victory lifted Leicester to 10th in the table. Leeds remain two points above the bottom three, having played two games more than 18th-placed Burnley.

Whether you have Bielsa, Marsch or any other manager in charge, the old adage remains true: if you don’t take your chances when on top, you risk being punished.

It was a recurring failing of Leeds under Bielsa that they failed to make good on the bountiful chances they often produced in games long before they were shipping goals to the tune of 20 in a month.

While Marsch changed a number of things in his first game in charge – a new 4-2-2-2 formation and quicker play through the middle – it was the old problem of conversion that cost Leeds.

Kasper Schmeichel can take some credit for repelling the visitors, producing saves to deny Dan James, Harrison, Rodrigo and, in the best of all from close range, Raphinha.

Caglar Soyuncu was also on hand to brilliantly block Junior’s goalbound shot from inside the box.

This all set up Leicester, who until then had offered very little barring the occasional threat of the returning Jamie Vardy getting in on goal with long balls over the top.

Barnes is a player building his reputation weekly and, after sharing a one-two with Kelechi Iheanacho, he slotted a low shot across goal and past the diving Illan Meslier.

Leeds continued to press forward, but their moment had passed and Leicester were able to see the game out to add another three points to those earned at Burnley on Tuesday.

Marsch gathered his players in a huddle in the centre circle at full-time. His message will surely have been to focus on the multiple positives.

No points, but plenty to take forward into a run of crucial games beginning with Aston Villa and Norwich at home next week.

Californians resigned as gasoline prices spike

Californians filling up their cars winced at the spiralling cost of gasoline, but largely shrugged as residents of the state that has long had the highest gas prices in the United States.

California drivers are paying an average of more than $1.34 per litre, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), up more than a third from a year ago, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine sends world oil prices rocketing. It’s going to affect the prices,” Mike Hernandez told AFP.

“I’m not really into politics or anything like that, but now that this thing is going on between Russia and Ukraine, it’s just that sad.”

Prices for crude oil — the raw material for gasoline — have been hit hard, and are up well above $110 a barrel, with players fretting about the impact on Russian supplies, as sanctions choke Moscow off from the global economy.

While all countries have access to the same gasoline, subsidies or taxes imposed locally mean the ultimate cost to consumers varies wildly. On average, Americans pay around $1 per litre, according to the AAA, and even California’s $1.34 per litre is well below the prices paid by Europeans.

“It’s expensive but it’s always been more expensive here in California, so I guess we’re used to it,” said Harry Lee, as he fueled up on the way to work in Los Angeles on Friday. I’ll be happy when it goes down but so far it doesn’t impact me too much,” he added.

California’s relatively high gas prices are the result of state taxes, as well as stricter refining rules that require specific fuel formulae intended to reduce air pollution in the hot summer months.

Opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, has reached out to ZAPU and “all those in the other parties” to join with his party in a bid to dislodge the ruling ZANU PF from power.

Chamisa was addressing CCC supporters at the White City Stadium in Bulawayo where the party was campaigning for the 26 March by-elections and 2023 harmonised elections. He said:

We want to work with everyone progressive… People have been speaking on various platforms, but we are starting afresh… It’s no longer about parties. We’re saying to ZAPU let’s work together, … we’re saying to all those in the other parties, come and let’s work together. It’s not about positions, it’s about the change we want for the people of Zimbabwe. There is enough space for everyone. I know that a lot of you have said so and so but, no, we want to make sure that we build a citizens’ coalition for change.

He urged Zimbabweans to vote in the upcoming elections adding that it will be difficult to rig if enough people vote.

Chamisa makes the remarks when some CCC supporters, including some senior party officials, have made it clear that they do not want former Deputy Prime Minister, Thokozani Khupe, to have a coalition with the party.

They accuse her of working with the ruling ZANU PF to dismantle the opposition in the country.

Daily exercising has many health benefits, even for those suffering from hypertension. Performing simple exercises like brisk walking, jogging, yoga can help to reduce the stress level and also lower blood pressure levels. But some activities can spike your blood pressure level instantly, leading to dizziness and breathlessness. It is recommended to all those who have a blood pressure reading of 180/100mmHg or more, seek medical advice from their doctor before beginning any new exercise regime.

Here are some exercises they must be careful about.

Strength training can help to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of bone-related injuries. For hypertension patients, lifting weight can help to manage the blood pressure level and reduce the risk of severe illnesses, only if performed in limitation. A rigorous workout can raise your pressure level to a dangerous level.

2. Sprinting
Jogging, moderate running, cycling all are recommended activities for patients dealing with high blood pressure. But sprinting is not a good choice. Sprinting is also a high impact and extreme activity that can spike your blood pressure level instantly.

3. Scuba diving
Having high blood pressure puts you at increased risk of a spike in the level while diving. It can increase the risk of having a heart attack or a stroke, both of which could be fatal underwater. Before trying this water sports, consult your doctor and get through check-ups to avoid any unpleasant events.

4. Skydiving
High blood pressure can interfere with pre-flight anxiety and oxygen changes during skydiving. It is an extreme sport and can lead to a sudden spike in the blood pressure level. Sports like these may not be good for your health. Talk to your doctor before trying anything like this.

5. Squash
Squash is an intense exercise that requires you to run and move quickly. Performing such exercises while having hypertension can quickly spike your blood pressure level and put you at risk of a heart attack. Bowling, golfing and table tennis are better options.

Opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC)’s leader, Nelson Chamisa Saturday reiterated that he will be the next president of Zimbabwe adding, “I’m ready.”

He made the remarks while addressing dozens of party supporters at the White City Stadium in Bulawayo where he was campaigning for the 26 March by-elections and 2023 elections.

He pledged to transform the lives of people in Bulawayo and the whole nation at large.

More promises:

He promised to complete the Zambezi water project The idea to bring water to Bulawayo from the Zambezi River was mooted in 1912 and has remained a dream for over a century and Zimbabwe’s second-largest city has continued to experience debilitating water shortages.

To restore Bulawayo as the industrial hub of the country. Bulawayo is Zimbabwe’s second-largest city and it is 439km from the capital, Harare, 111 km from the Botswana border, and on the line of rail via Victoria Falls to Zambia and the Copperbelt. Chamisa said his heart is in pain when he visits Bulawayo, a former industrial capital.

To restore quality education. Zimbabwe’s education sector, like all other sectors, collapsed in the last two decades and scores of learners have been going abroad for education.

To ensure justice for victims of political violence starting with Gukurahundi victims. An estimated 20 000 people were killed in Matabeleland and Midlands by a North Korean-trained 5th Brigade.

Aston Villa 4 – 0 Southampton

Philippe Coutinho starred as Aston Villa produced a magnificent all-round display to win consecutive Premier League games for the first time since November and end Southampton’s six-match unbeaten run.

The Brazilian, who joined Villa on loan from Barcelona in January, played a role in the first two goals, before scoring the third as Villa emphatically ended a four-game winless streak at Villa Park and produced their biggest win under manager Steven Gerrard.

After a smart Coutinho pass Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins linked up, the latter turning Jack Stephens before curling into the far corner for the opening goal after nine minutes.

The second came on the stroke of half-time as Calum Chambers superbly lofted over the Saints defence with the outside of his boot for Coutinho to cushion across to compatriot Douglas Luiz who tapped home for his first league goal since January 2020.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl brought on Yan Valery at half-time and switched to a back five, but Coutinho drilled home a third from the right side of the area, before Ings swept home a Matty Cash cutback against his former club in the opening 10 minutes of the half to end any hopes of a comeback.

The win sees Villa climb to 11th, just outside the top half on goal difference, while Southampton remain ninth.

As at all Premier League games this weekend, there was a show of solidarity and support for Ukraine after the invasion by Russia, with the Aston Villa fans applauding and Southampton fans holding up blue and yellow scarves.

When Coutinho joined Villa, Gerrard, who played alongside the 29-year-old at Liverpool, called him a “special footballer”, but said they would have to be “patient with him”.

A return of two goals and two assists in his opening 440 minutes was encouraging, but there was a sense that this was Coutinho properly reintroducing himself to English football.

He linked up superbly with Watkins, who scored his seventh league goal of the season, both seeing golden opportunities set up by the other saved by Fraser Forster in the first half.

Coutinho also latched on to a Watkins flick-on before slotting wide, but the partnership will give Gerrard food for thought after rumours emerged this week that he was willing to listen to offers for Watkins in the summer.

The question remains whether Villa can keep hold of Coutinho in the summer, but based on the rapturous reception he got from the Villa Park faithful when he was substituted he may have found a place where he can start enjoying his football again.

He offered Villa something that Southampton, who had only lost once in 10 games, lacked. They struggled to break down Villa and create clear-cut opportunities, with a Che Adams drive their only effort on target.

The visitors’ midfield trio of Oriol Romeu, Stuart Armstrong and James Ward-Prowse can lack a creative edge, meaning Saints become reliant on their full-backs and set pieces which Villa stifled throughout the game.

Their recent run has drawn admirers, and this, while only likely to be a bump in the road, will concern Hasenhuttl with a top-half finish on offer and an FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City in two weeks’ time.

Newcastle 2 – 1 Brighton

$

Newcastle scored twice in two minutes to extend their unbeaten run to eight games with a cagey win over Brighton.

It was a first Premier League victory for Eddie Howe’s side against top-10 opposition this season and once again showed their improved resilience and grit under their new manager.

After a bright start by the visitors, Ryan Fraser gave Newcastle the lead with his second goal of the season after Jacob Murphy’s effort had bounced back off the post following a quick break.

They doubled their lead when Fabian Schar headed in from Fraser’s free-kick.

Lewis Dunk clawed a goal back 10 minutes after the break when he lost Chris Wood from a corner to head in unmarked.

That led to a nervy period for the hosts, as Dunk had another header saved by Martin Dubravka and Graham Potter’s side bossed possession.

Allan Saint-Maximin came off the bench following a calf injury to waste a good chance late on, but it did not prove costly with Brighton unable find an equaliser.

Victory moves Newcastle seven points clear of the relegation zone, one place behind Brighton, who slip to 13th after a fourth successive defeat.

Newcastle’s fifth win in six games put further space between themselves and the relegation zone, but this was a functional rather than spectacular victory over a Brighton side that could not take advantage of their intricate play.

The first 10 minutes were a case in point. Potter’s well-drilled side created space down the flanks but were thwarted by former Brighton defender Dan Burn, who had an excellent game.

Pascal Gross, who threatened with set-pieces all afternoon, almost found Shane Duffy but the centre-back headed wide from five yards under pressure from Murphy.

But after an encouraging start, the game switched Newcastle’s way as Wood sold Duffy a dummy, sent Murphy away and Fraser tucked in the rebound.

Schar’s header then established a lead that looked comfortable, thanks to more smart defending from Burn and another impressive midfield display from Joelinton, whose limbs seemed to be everywhere.

But the hosts’ lacklustre start to the second half led to Dunk pulling a goal back when he lost Wood, who is still yet to score in seven games since his £25m move from Burnley.

That led to a period where Newcastle lost control of the game. They were let off because Brighton failed to find the killer pass as the home fans began to show their nerves and frustration as the likes of Joe Willock gave the ball away.

The Magpies have given away more points than any other Premier League team from winning positions, and it looked like they might concede an equaliser.

But when Bruno Guimaraes came on to help in midfield it offered an improvement despite Leandro Trossard’s late effort being saved by Dubravka.

Norwich City 1 – 3 Brentford

Ivan Toney scored a hat-trick as Brentford ended an eight-game Premier League winless run at the expense of relegation-threatened Norwich City.

Toney scored two second-half penalties at Carrow Road to put the game beyond bottom-side Norwich, as Thomas Frank’s side moved six points clear of the relegation places.

Following his emotional return as a substitute last weekend – 259 days after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 in June – Christian Eriksen made his first competitive start for Brentford.

It was from an Eriksen corner that Brentford punished the hosts’ first-half profligacy, with Kristoffer Ajer’s near-post header falling to Toney.

Toney’s first spot-kick arrived after 52 minutes as referee Anthony Taylor reviewed a high foot by Ben Gibson on Pontus Jansson as the Norwich defender attempted to clear a cross.

The second penalty in six minutes, awarded after Toney was felled by Gibson, allowed the 25-year-old to complete his treble.

The damage had already been done when Milot Rashica had a response ruled out for offside midway through the second half, while Bryan Mbeumo was denied adding a fourth for Brentford for the same reason.

Teemu Pukki gave the home fans something to cheer in added-time but an otherwise miserable day for Norwich left the Canaries five points from safety with 11 games remaining.

Seven days on from his long-awaited return to action, Eriksen was called upon from the start in another crucial fixture in Brentford’s bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

While Toney delivered the goals that secured a huge three points, the victory proved that the ability of former Tottenham player Eriksen to reignite Brentford’s season will go a long way to determining the Bees’ fate with 10 games remaining.

The Dane’s delivery to set up Toney’s 32nd-minute opener displayed Eriksen’s known quality from set-pieces, but in a contest with so much riding on it the midfielder offered a calming influence in possession.

He had more touches (66), made more passes (44) and more passes in the final third (16) than any team-mate as he played the entirety of the 98-minute contest.

Amid the pressures of the Premier League, there was time too for a touching moment. Eriksen, rightly, received a yellow card for bringing down Brandon Williams – but once the Norwich defender realised who had fouled him, he simply embraced his opponent.

Norwich boss Dean Smith labelled the meeting with his former club as a “must-not-lose” encounter and this dismal home defeat means time is quickly running out for his side.

Smith bemoaned the officiating at full-time but the fact is a fourth successive loss means the Canaries are five points adrift of 17th-placed Everton.

They were unable to capitalise on a purposeful start when Rashica was denied at close range by David Raya, and Billy Gilmour shot over from the rebound inside the opening two minutes.

Raya was again called upon to stop Pukki’s low strike finding the bottom corner before half-time, but Norwich capitulated in the second half as Toney twice got the better of Tim Krul from the spot despite the goalkeeper’s best efforts to put him off.

Pukki eventually converted one of the home side’s 15 attempts but it was a mere consolation for a side edging closer to relegation.=.

Wolves 0 – 2 Crystal Palace

Wolves’ European hopes suffered a further blow as they slipped to a third successive Premier League defeat against an impressive Crystal Palace at Molineux.

A dominant start by the visitors was rewarded when Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring from close range after fine build-up play by Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha then found the net himself from the penalty spot to double Palace’s lead before half-time after Jeffrey Schlupp was tripped by Max Kilman.

It could have been even better for the Eagles but for two fine saves from goalkeeper Jose Sa to deny Gallagher and Michael Olise.

The home side offered little in response, with Vicente Guaita equal to efforts from Daniel Podence and Chiquinho.

The win moves Patrick Vieira’s side into the top half of the table on goal difference, while Wolves remain eighth.

Palace boss Vieira had urged his side to maintain their focus on the Premier League despite securing a place in the last eight of the FA Cup in midweek, with the Eagles nine points clear of the bottom three going into the game.

This win, and perhaps more significantly the manner of it, suggests they need not be concerned with matters at the foot of the table.

This was a fine performance from the south London side, who dominated the opening 45 minutes.

Mateta caused all sorts of problems through the middle, while Zaha, Schlupp and the lively Olise attacked down either flank.

As good as they were as an attacking unit in the first half, they were equally impressive defensively after the break.

Their effort and application was perhaps exemplified by Zaha, who chased all the way back into his own area to dispossess Ruben Neves just as the Wolves midfielder shaped to shoot.

It was only Palace’s third away Premier League win of the season but they are now unbeaten on the road since 26 December as their season looks to be gaining momentum.

Wolves’ season beginning to stall
Wolves remain in the hunt for a European place but cannot have many complaints with defeat after another below-par display.

Their progress this season has been based around defensive solidity rather than attacking prowess, with only Norwich scoring fewer than their 10 home league goals.

However, the defence was far from secure in the first half as Palace launched wave after wave of attacks, much to the frustration of an increasingly edgy home crowd.

Youngster Ki-Jana Hoever, once again deputising for the injured Nelson Semedo, struggled in particular as Palace repeatedly made inroads down the Wolves right before he was forced off with what looked like a hamstring problem.

They improved after the break, particularly when Raul Jimenez was introduced, but were held at arm’s length by a well-organised Palace side.

Liverpool 1 – 0 West Ham United

Sadio Mane’s first-half goal was enough to give Liverpool victory over West Ham at Anfield and move them back within three points of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s men deserved the win but it did not come without the odd scare as Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini both wasted excellent chances to equalise.

The Hammers’ frustrations were compounded by the loss of in-form Jarrod Bowen to what looked like a significant injury, the forward helped off the pitch and down the tunnel following a collision with former Hull team-mate Andy Robertson.

Five days before the Europa League last-16 first-leg trip to Sevilla, it was not what manager David Moyes needed.

Liverpool had chances to extend their lead, with new signing Luis Diaz particularly impressive.

However, with the title race as it is, victory was all that mattered. And now Liverpool fans are in the unusual position of hoping for a United victory in Sunday’s Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium.

Life might have been far less stressful for Liverpool’s fans had Mohamed Salah taken the first-minute chance that came his way, instead of firing straight at goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

At times, Liverpool’s attack is so fast and fluid it is impossible for opposing defences to cope. And in Diaz, their £37.5m January arrival from Porto, they have a player that fits that template perfectly.

The Colombian produced a wonderous piece of skill to create an early chance for himself which he drove into Craig Dawson’s face.

Diaz then came close twice in the second half too, with the first of those particularly impressive in the way he manipulated Mane’s pass into a scoring chance that went narrowly wide. When he was replaced in the final minute of injury time, his standing ovation was fully deserved.

In the end, though, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s precise low cross created the one moment that mattered.

The England man’s 16th assist of a stellar season was one of his best, leaving Mane to turn home his fourth goal in five games from close range.

West Ham have lost 70 league matches against Liverpool, have now won once at Anfield in 52 attempts, and Moyes is without a win in 66 away league games against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, so perhaps the outcome of the match was not a surprise.

But the Scot will nevertheless wonder how his side failed to capitalise on some excellent chances.

Arguably Fornals had the best when he was put through by Bowen just before the break, but instead of trying to beat Alisson in a conventional manner, he lofted a chip over the Brazilian that lacked pace and Alexander-Arnold was able to get back and clear.

Lanzini then undid all his good work in creating space on the edge of the area by blazing over with only Alisson to beat, while in the final stages Michail Antonio was bearing down on goal only for Naby Keita to get back to deny him.

Those frustrations were only compounded by the loss of Bowen, who was heavily tipped to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Moyes, clearly, will be more concerned about that trip to Sevilla and in addition to sweating on Bowen’s fitness, must hope skipper Declan Rice has recovered from the illness that kept him out of this game in time to be available.

The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province has urged Harare City Council to enforce by-laws in order to effect a ban of trading at traffic intersections. In a statement, seen by Pindula News, Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution – Harare Metropolitan Province in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Tafadzwa Muguti said the local government authority has the mandate to keep the city clean. Read the statement:

The Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province has repeatedly encouraged the City of Harare to enforce its by-laws in order to ensure that our Central Business District is clean, and most importantly orderly. We have noticed the increase in traders at traffic intersections and shop pavements, whilst some unscrupulous businesses are now also distributing their stocks at traffic intersections, also evading the tax authorities in the process. The City of Harare has been reminded of its sole mandate to ensure a clean and orderly Central Business, District, this is inline with its mantra of being a “world-class city by 2025”. As such all trading at traffic intersections, begging, distribution of flyers, trading from car boots and solicitation of any kind is strictly prohibited. The City of Harare has also been reminded of its sole mandate to fully operationalise its District Offices in order to ensure that the employees maintain a clean, orderly and healthy CBD whilst their District business inspectorate enforces business and health permits in all retail outlets. The City by-laws are very clear on the legal remedies and the prosecution of offenders.

Please Stand Guided accordingly.

On Saturday, King Monada was beaming with pride and joy as he held the official house warming party for his beautiful house. The event was graced by a number of South African celebrities who congratulated the musician on his achievement.

KING MONADA

Back in 2020, King Monada explained why he had chosen to build a multimillion-rand in the village saying,

“People might judge me for building such a huge house in a village that is still developing, but this is my children’s home.

“This is where we all feel at home as a family.”

“I decided to build this house because an artist’s lifespan is never guaranteed, so I needed to make sure that if anything happens to me or my career, my two wives and children would not suffer. Having all the fancy cars is great, it is beautiful. But that’s just it. You cannot invest in a car, but a house is surely an investment, this house is big enough and does not need any extensions even in future,” he said.

Controversial entertainer Zodwa Wabantu publicly told singer and TV personality Nandi Madida about her dream. But, Nandi did not respond, leaving people criticizing the dancer for revealing the dream in public.

However, Zodwa Wabantu said she was not bothered by other people’s opinions.

The entertainer, whose real name is Zodwa Libram, is on the journey of becoming a sangoma.

After Nandi posted a photo on her Instagram page, Zodwa told her that she had a dream about her. She said she dreamt of Nandi kneeling down to her, saying “thokoza”. Then her husband me. Your husband fetched you, saying ufuna ukuthini kuZodwa? (what do you want to say to Zodwa?),” she wrote.

She added that if ancestors showed her something about someone, she would tell them.

“Let’s not talk about this, but it’s important to tell a person that you had a dream about them. I’m not going to comment on why I decided to tell her in public. But, I’m glad that she now knows,” said Zodwa.

Marondera cheating wife exposed after hubby discovers boyfriends’ contacts saved under female names

A MARONDERA man is threatening to divorce his wife demanding an explanation as to how a number of male contacts were saved under female names in her mobile phone.

Among the five “suspicious” contacts, saved in Nelia Madziva’s phone, is her husband Oman Mawusha’s friend Trust Mahere.

He was saved as Tabeth.

Salatiero Msangwe was saved as Mai Nyasha.

Tendai and Webster are also saved under female names. All the five men are based in Marondera.

Madziva admitted to dating the five men at least according to her husband Mawusha, arguing that their marital issues had forced her to cheat.

She is also begging for forgiveness.

Mawusha declined to let his wife give her side of the story to H-Metro.

Instead, he has threatened to take her back to her parents this week, over her shenanigans.

He showed a local publication love messages sent to Nelia by five different men.

“My wife has been dating several men, including my friend and villager, and this came to light after I confiscated her mobile phone,” said Mawusha.

“She is refusing to pack her belongings, but I will force her to leave this week after engaging my lobola middle-person. I discovered that she has been dating Trust for the past year, Msangwe for six months and Webster for eight months.”

Msangwe confirmed the illicit affair, arguing that Nelia had lied to him about her marital status.

“Yes, I had an affair with Nelia but I have since stopped communicating with her after discovering that she is married,” said Msangwe.

“The day I met her, she told me that she had separated with her husband over some marital issues and I started communicating with her through the messages

which were discovered in her mobile phone.

“Her husband called me and I told him the truth and from that day I have not been seeing Nelia,” said Msangwe.

Trust denied the allegations.

“It is true that Oman was one of my seniors at a primary school in Chihota but I never dated his wife as alleged,” said Trust.

“When I visited the village sometime last year, I asked for Owen Mawusha’s contact, who was my friend, not Oman. The person gave me contact numbers of Oman instead of Owen and that’s where the issue started.

“I sent messages of missing him (Owen) and those are the messages discovered by Oman and, since he was exchanging his mobile phone with his wife, Oman phoned me accusing me of dating his wife.

“I never met his wife and I never dated her as alleged.”

Webster and Tendai could not be reached for comment.

Highlanders Coach Crashes Car Donated By Sakunda Holdings

Highlanders coach, Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu, has allegedly crashed the Ford Everest car which was issued to him to use as Highlanders coach by the club’s main sponsors, Sakunda Holdings in September last year.

Reports suggest that Mpofu is in trouble with his employers over the development which was worsened by his failure or neglect to report the accident to the police and to his employers, but chose to secretly send the car for panel beating to conceal the damage.

While Mpofu managed to hide the misfortune to his superiors, word eventually reached the ears of his bosses and he reportedly denied that he had been involved in an accident when he was initially confronted.

Mpofu later admitted that he had a mishap in January just after he had returned from Cameroon where he had gone on national duty with the senior national team.

Investigations carried out by Highlanders indicated that the car’s airbags went off, which could render the vehicle a write-off when the case is presented to the company that is providing the car’s insurance cover, sources said.

Mpofu has since made a police report about the accident as required by law.

Highlanders are said to have also informed Sakunda Holdings of the development since the car belongs to the sponsors.

Sources told a local publication that Mpofu is still driving the car, but is expected to soon present himself before a disciplinary hearing.

Mpofu and his Dynamos counterpart, Tonderai Ndiraya each received brand new Ford Everest vehicles from Sakunda while team captains, Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders) and Patson Jaure (Dynamos) got Ford Rangers.
