Manchester United 1 – 1 Leicester City

$
0
0

Manchester United lost more ground in the battle for a Champions League spot as they were held by Leicester at Old Trafford.

The damage could have been even worse for Ralf Rangnick’s men as Leicester were denied a potential winner 10 minutes from the time when referee Andre Marriner was sent to the screen by the video assistant referee, with Marriner overturning James Maddison’s effort for a foul on Raphael Varane in the build-up.

United could count themselves fortunate to get a point.

After a drab opening period, Kelechi Iheanacho scored a superb 63rd-minute opener when he met superb Maddison’s left-wing cross with a fine diving header, which sent the ball back into the far corner.

The Foxes’ advantage lasted just three minutes, with Brazilian midfielder Fred on hand to convert the rebound after Bruno Fernandes’ shot had been pushed into his path by Kasper Schmeichel.

It was a disappointing outcome for the hosts, who are now three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, having played two games more and with a trip to the Gunners, plus encounters with Liverpool and Chelsea, still to come.

It says everything about the kind of season Marcus Rashford has had that even with the ill Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood missing this game completely, the England man was only given a seat on the bench.

Rashford’s future has been debated long and hard over the last few weeks.

With a contract that is due to expire next year, although there is an option to extend to 2024, a decision over Rashford will be one of the new manager’s first tasks when he takes over.

The theory is a proper break, followed by an intense pre-season and a chance to play regularly in his best position, on the left, would correct many of Rashford’s problems.

At the moment though, he just needs to deliver. And, asked to occupy the number nine position when he was introduced for the final 35 minutes, Rashford continued to look ill at ease.

Rangnick provided detailed instructions as Rashford waited to come on and then, together with technical director Darren Fletcher, offered more as the game entered its final 20 minutes.

Fleetingly, it looked like Rashford’s world would turn. Deep into stoppage time, he picked the ball up just outside the box and drove at the Leicester defence. But just as space opened up to shoot, an offside Anthony Elanga got in his way and the chance was gone.

Mzansi actress Connie Ferguson is the queen of South African television. She kickstarted her career on Generations in the 1990s, and she has been scaling the heights of success ever since.

Connie Ferguson

Along with her acting career, Connie Ferguson has also enjoyed a successful career as a model and businesswoman. These successful ventures, as well as all her endorsements deals she has secured, have earned Connie lots of money, and she is currently among the richest celebrities in South Africa.

Connie Ferguson

While Connie Ferguson knows how to make money, when it comes to spending it, she knows how to spurge. Along with driving expensive cars, Connie also lives in one of the best celebrity mansions in South Africa.

Connie Ferguson

Here is a sneak peek into Connie Ferguson’s house that will give you goosebumps.

Where is Connie Ferguson’s house located?

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Connie Ferguson (@connie_ferguson)

Connie Ferguson’s house sits on several acres of land somewhere in the upscale suburbs of Johannesburg.

From the above video shared by Connie on her Instagram account, it appears that the giant mansion is situated just under a hill and has the most spectacular view.

Connie Ferguson

Although we already regard her as a queen, and we expected nothing less than premium class and royalty from her, Connie really outdid herself here. The house is magnificent in every way and exudes class and opulence.

Connie Ferguson

To begin with, the location of Connie Ferguson’s house is something to die for. Imagine the serenity, calmness, and pool of peace that can be found in the hills- we don’t think it can get better than that.

The house is surrounded by high perimeter walls and has a winding driveway from the main gate to the house. The driveway is lined with well-manicured flowers, and the whole compound is carpeted with lawn grass.

Just before you get in the house is an ample parking space to accommodate all of Connie’s sleek cars as well as those of her guests.

While the house’s exterior is painted in shades of grey and white only, the interior walls vary from room to room, although the predominant colours are crisp white and grey.

Grand staircases with metallic railings connect the lower floors of the wall with the upper floors, and the rooms are well-lit with inbuilt LED lights on the walls and ceiling as well as all the natural light that is let in by the giant glass windows and doors.

Connie Ferguson’s living room is a sight to behold too. The white and grey walls are complemented by pieces of aesthetic arts on the walls, and the inbuilt lights are complemented by low-hanging chandeliers. The somewhat antique furniture gives the room an air of elegance.

Like the living room, Connie’s kitchen is a sight to behold too. It’s a fully equipped, spacious modern kitchen with subtle orange walls and a kitchen island in the middle.

How much did Connie Ferguson’s house cost?

After seeing all the features of this grand mansion, now you are wondering how much it cost. Well, it is reported that Connie Ferguson’s house cost her between R15 to R19 million.

Even though the house is quite costly, its cost is just a tiny fraction of Connie Ferguson’s net worth, and the grand dream house is worth every cent.

Lady Gaga plans to honour Tony Bennett with a five-minute medley at the Grammys. The 36-year-old pop star is planning to pay tribute to the 95-year-old crooner at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday. A source explained to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Gaga’s performance is going to be the biggest moment of the night and it will pay tribute to the brilliance of Tony.”

The duo are nominated for five awards for their jazz album ‘Love For Sale’. But Tony won’t be able to attend the ceremony in person due to his health issues.

The source added: “On stage she will sing ‘Love For Sale’, the title track from their last album, which came out last year. She will also perform ‘Do I Love You’, a song they previously did together. When she is singing, photographs of Tony will be beamed up onto the screen behind the stage.”

The medley will be a “really emotional” experience for the chart-topping pop star, who also worked with Tony on their 2014 album “Cheek To Cheek
Meanwhile, Danny Bennett, Tony’s son and manager, recently confirmed that his dad will be absent from the ceremony.

He told Variety: “Although the producers had invited both Tony and Gaga to perform in Sunday’s Grammys broadcast, it is unfortunate that due to his continuing struggle with Alzheimer’s, he was not able to accept. It was decided that it would be fitting for Lady Gaga to perform on her own to represent for both of them.

Honey-Garlic Chicken Thighs recipes

$

This is one of my family’s favourite recipes. It’s garlic-sweet and the cilantro tops it off.

Ingredients:

8 (5 ounces) boneless chicken thighs
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
½ medium onion, finely chopped
7 cloves garlic, chopped, or to taste
1 cup honey
½ cup soy sauce
1 pinch onion powder, or to taste
1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Directions / Instructions

Step 1

Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Cover the bottom of a cast-iron skillet with olive oil and bring to medium-high heat. Add chicken and brown on one side, for 3 to 5 minutes. Flip chicken, and add onion and garlic; continue to cook until chicken is mostly (but not fully) cooked and onion and garlic are soft, 5 to 7 minutes more. Remove chicken to a plate.

Step 3

Add honey, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and onion powder to the skillet. Stir and scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to get the garlic and onion to mix with the liquid.

Step 4

Put chicken back into the pan, cover, and reduce heat to medium. Cook until no longer pink in the centre and juices run clear, about 10 more minutes, turning once halfway through. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the centre of a thigh should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Step 5

Place on a serving tray and drizzle liquid from the pan on top. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro before serving.

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) says there is no exact date yet set for the release of the 2021 Ordinary Level examination results.

Speaking to Sunday News, ZIMSEC spokesperson, Nicky Dlamini, said the results will be released as soon as current processes that are taking place are completed. She said:

For now, I can say that the results will be out as soon as we are done with the current processes that are taking place, there is no exact date at the moment but everything is smooth sailing towards their release.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education director of Advocacy and Communication, Taungana Ndoro, said Form Five pupils will start attending lessons in the second term.

He said it is now impossible to have a special arrangement for the Lower Sixth pupils for them to resume classes for the first term.

Ndoro added that parents and guardians will use the school holiday to look for places and Lower Sixth pupils will then start lessons with the rest of the classes for the second term.

Schools are expected to open for the second term on Tuesday, 3 May 2022 and close on Thursday, 4 August 2022.

Murdered CCC activist’s sister abducted by alleged ZANU PF thugs

Suspected Zanu PF activists who allegedly murdered a Citizens for Coalition for Change (CCC) Kwekwe activist in February are reportedly threatening witnesses against testifying.

Mboneni Ncube was stabbed twice with a spear at a CCC rally held at Mbizo shopping centre and died on admission to Kwekwe Central Hospital.

The deceased’s sister, Judith Ncube, said she was kidnapped on Thursday evening by suspected ZANU PF activists who threatened to kill her if she continued demanding answers into Mboneni’s murder.

Speaking to The Standard, Judith said she now feared for her life following the abduction incident. She said:

It was around 4 pm when the incident happened. They grabbed and bundled me into their vehicle.

They took me to a ZANU PF base in Kwekwe where they threatened to make me disappear if I kept on pressing for answers to the killing of my brother.

His killers are known and all I want is closure and justice.

The incident was reported to the police and the case number is CRO/04/22.

Also speaking to The Standard, Judith’s lawyer Darlington Marange of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum said:

She identified some of the culprits that were implicated in the murder, including some known ruling party bigwigs.

She has been saying that police are refusing to take the names of the perpetrators.

We are now considering visiting the police to iron this out because it falls under their duties to take the report as is and to investigate.

It appears there is some resistance but this is something that we have to iron out.

We are also considering getting a peace order against the people who have been harassing her.

She now lives in fear and we have to now take that route of a peace order to ensure her safety.

The issue of her safety is now of paramount importance outside other legal routes that we want to take.

Other people willing to testify against Ncube’s killers were being harassed constantly, Mbizo MP-elect Settlement Chikwinya claimed.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) arrested 16 ZANU PF youths for Ncube’s murder but later released 11 of them.

The late Ncube had recently remarried following the death of his first wife, with whom he had an eight-year-old daughter.

Villagers stampede for free meat as bus rams into elephant herd in Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls villagers on Saturday had a CAG Travellers bus accident to thank as they took several tonnes of free meat from the carcasses of three elephants that were killed in the accident.

A CAG Travellers bus travelling to Victoria Falls rammed into a herd of elephants, killing three of the animals on the spot.

The accident occurred about 35km outside Victoria Falls, just after 5 AM on Saturday near Mbizha turn off along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road.

The bus suffered extensive damage but all 18 passengers and the bus crew were not injured.

Passengers were switched to another bus and proceeded with their journey.

Villagers from nearby Masikili and Mbizha villages, as well as some from as far as Lupinyu (about 20km away), some from Victoria Falls City, Chikandakubi, and Chenamisa gathered at the accident scene to get a share of the meat.

According to The Sunday News, some of the villagers came on bicycles, cars and scotch carts while some boarded public transport from Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers and police officers were on the scene monitoring the situation.

The bus driver, Daniel Mapfumo, said he could not avoid hitting the jumbos because they appeared “suddenly” in the middle of the road. He said:

I suddenly saw the elephants and applied breaks while swerving to the left.

There were three groups so as I avoided the first, I saw another herd ahead.

The three were in the middle of the road and suddenly they turned at once, giving their back to the bus and they were hit at once.

Meanwhile, ZANU PF Hwange District Coordinating Committee chair Matthew Muleya urged drivers to be careful when driving along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo road. He said:

Animals cross from the national park to communities so drivers should be cautious so that we save lives.

These buses travel at night and we urge them not to speed on this road.

I have not had any communication with Susan Mutami, says Temba Mliswa

$

Norton MP, Temba Mliswa (Independent), has denied claims by his Australian-based ex-lover Susan Mutami that the two have agreed to raise “their” child together.

Last week Mutami claimed she had reached a truce with Mliswa and the two had decided to co-parent their minor son.

Mutami and Mliswa have been involved in ugly verbal spats on social media over the upkeep of the child.

Posting on Twitter this Sunday, Mliswa insisted that Mutami should use traditional procedures channels to resolve their differences.

Mliswa also insisted that a paternity test should be carried out to determine if he is indeed the biological father of the child Mutami claims he sired. Said Mliswa:

I want to make this clear. Despite the new position being shown by @susan_mutami I would like to make it clear that I have not had any communication with her.

She has indeed tried to use the legal route, @cdesetfree & others but my position has always been clear.

I come from a family centred on traditional values and will not deal with the issues relating to my kids on social media.

Susan said a lot about my mother who has never been on social media. She was taken aback by how her benevolence in giving a chicken had been abused.

Secondly, Susan also attacked my sister, Mary who potentially could have been vatete vake (her sister-in-law). I didn’t respond to all these issues.

She accused me of seeking to kill the President’s son& being involved in the Bulawayo bombing. So she has a lot of issues that she raised.

Now the proper route for her for us to discuss the baby issues would be through my young sister Mary. Now how would she do that after all her negative aspersions against her?

As for the kid I have never denied paternity but stated that I would need a DNA test first!

Proper traditional channels and processes should be followed for the child to be admitted into the family. Subject to a DNA test.

But it has become clear that she was a project for Mudha all the way!

CCC councillors plotting Bulawayo Mayor and Town Clerk ouster – report

$
0
0

Newly-elected Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors in Bulawayo are reportedly planning to remove the city’s mayor Councillor Solomon Mguni and Town Clerk, Christopher Dube.

The councillors recently held a caucus at their provincial party offices, which was chaired by the former deputy mayor, Tinashe Kambarami and former Bulawayo Senator, Matson Hlalo.

Kambarami is no longer a sitting councillor after he was recalled from Council by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T.

The former Ward 3 councillor is, however, challenging his recall in the courts and as a result, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission could not conduct by-elections in the ward.

Eight candidates from the CCC won the by-elections that were held on 26 March, namely Clr Edwin Ndlovu (Ward 8), Clr Donaldson Mabuto (Ward 9), Alderman Lilian Mlilo (Ward 12), Clr Concilia Mlalazi (Ward 18), Clr Christopher Dube (Ward 19), Ald Earnest Rafomoyo (Ward 20), Clr Tinevimbo Maposa (Ward 21) and Clr Mpumelelo Moyo (Ward 26).

The Sunday News reported sources as saying the caucus took place at the party offices and was also attended by Ward Two councillor Joyce Ndlovu, who was voted into office under an MDC Alliance ticket. Said the source:

The caucus took place on Wednesday, chaired by Kambarami and Senator Hlalo and among other things it was agreed that they push for the ouster of the Mayor and the Town Clerk. This will be done through a motion of no-confidence against the duo.

However, the possible hold up was the issue of raising the numbers since they are a minority.

Kambarami chaired the caucus and he made it clear that the councillors’ mandate was to get rid of Clr Mguni and also reverse a number of policies, including the parking management system contract.

The party’s caucus secretary, Clr Mabuto denied the allegations, saying CCC’s focus is focused on advancing the aspirations of the Bulawayo residents. He said:

We had a meeting, that I can confirm, but I cannot say it was a caucus, it was more of a celebration meeting by the eight winning councillors and other party members.

Further, I must dismiss the speculation that is going around that we want to oust the mayor or deputy or town clerk, that is not true, we are not going to council to cause turmoil.

All that we are focusing on is pushing for development and creating reconnecting council and the residents.

We also want to raise pertinent questions on issues such as the parking management system tender, our colleagues should give us answers on this issue.

Kambarami also refuted allegations that they were pushing for the ouster of Clr Mguni and Dube. He said the issue was never discussed.

He said the meeting was for congratulating the newly elected councillors and giving them direction on how they will conduct council business going forward.

Senior CCC official on why the party lost in Tsholotsho South

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim chairperson in Matabeleland North Province, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, says ZANU PF’s victory in the Tsholotsho South constituency in the 26 March by-elections does not indicate politics is shifting in favour of the ruling party in the Matabeleland region.

ZANU-PF candidate Musa Ncube won the Tsholotsho South by-election with 4 758 votes.

The CCC’s candidate, Tapson Nganunu polled 2 878, Leonard Mthombeni (ZAPU) received 868 votes, while Bongani Moyo (Independent) garnered 155 votes.

Sibanda, who is the designated MP for Binga North, attributed the opposition’s loss in Tsholotsho South to poor messaging and its absence on the ground.

Speaking during a Twitter space on By-Election Results and Matabeleland Voting patterns on Thursday evening, Sibanda said:

In my view, I don’t believe Matabeleland is shifting ground. What is missing is the messaging. We need to get down to the people.

Why is Tsholotsho voting for ZANU-PF, when it was the epicentre of Gukurahundi?

When we talk about Gukurahundi, the front runners who were mostly involved are Emmerson Mnangagwa and (Constantino) Chiwenga.

Now understand why they never touched down in Tsholotsho, they couldn’t go there but had to send (Kembo) Mohadi who became the sacrificial lamb, to appear before tents as no people attended his meetings.

Why did they not go to Tsholotsho South? It’s because they know they have issues with the people of Matabeleland.

Sibanda said the party failed to use the same strategy in Tsholotsho South that paid dividends in Binga North which CCC won despite ZANU PF despatching its big guns to the constituency. He said:

We didn’t mobilise enough. What people of Matabeleland lack is the messaging and the information. This is about the leadership getting down to the ground.

In Binga North, we went to the ground, to almost every village, at each polling station where we had 20 volunteers that were spreading messages to say we are fighting against this.

In Binga, we made sure we activated supporters and shared information to say, ‘this is why you are supposed to vote’ because of that we were able to win.

I believe if we do that to the rest of Matabeleland, I am telling you there is no way ZANU PF can get any constituency or any ward in Matabeleland.

A very simple Chinese stir-fry dish that is fabulous in taste. I saw my husband going for two additional servings of it and I had to remind him to leave some for the rest of the family! Serve with hot steamed rice.

Ingredients:

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
– ½ pound of ground beef
– ½ small head of cabbage, shredded
– 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 1 teaspoon cornstarch
– ½ cup of cold water
– 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
– 1 pinch of salt, to taste

Directions / Instructions

Step 1

Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat, and add oil. Saute garlic for about 5 seconds, then add ground beef. Stir-fry until beef is evenly brown, 5 to 7 minutes; drain excess fat.

Step 2

Stir in cabbage and pepper, and cook until vegetables are tender and beef is fully cooked. Stir in soy sauce. Mix together cornstarch and water, and stir in. Season with pepper; add salt to taste. Cook, stirring until the sauce has thickened.

Australia outclass England to take Women’s World Cup

Australia underlined their status as the premier international sports team on the planet by outclassing England to win the Women’s World Cup.

The Australians shattered records in Christchurch on their way to adding the 50-over title to the T20 World Cup and Ashes crowns they already hold.

Alyssa Healy crashed an astonishing 170 from 138 balls, the highest score in either a women’s or men’s World Cup final. Her partnership of 160 with Rachael Haynes and Australia’s total of 356-5 are also women’s final bests, the latter a record for any team against England.

England, who were huge underdogs to defend the title they won in 2017, will rue their decision to field first in perfect batting conditions. They also dropped Healy and Haynes in the same over.

Faced with such a mammoth chase, England lost wickets too regularly to ever be in contention, but Nat Sciver batted with authority for a century of her own.

Sciver was 148 not out when England was finally bowled out for 285, spinners Alana King and Jess Jonassen taking three wickets apiece in Australia’s 71-run win.

It was a disappointing end to an England turnaround that saw them reach the final despite losing their first three games of the tournament.

Meanwhile, awesome Australia has been crowned world champions for the seventh time with a perfect record of nine wins from nine matches.

The suspicion was that England would need everything to go their way in order to beat an Australia side that entered the final with only one defeat in their previous 38 one-day internationals.

For as much as England – and Australia – favour chasing, it seemed like a gift for Heather Knight to give away the opportunity to bat first.

The defending champions passed up the chance to post a score that might have pressured the Australians, who dictated terms throughout.

England did not bowl particularly badly, but the dropped catches were a hammer blow. By the end, Healy was playing some outrageous strokes, scoring runs at will.

Despite Sciver’s wonderful innings, the contest was effectively over at the interval, the most dramatic World Cup ever denied the final it deserved.

Opener Healy made a century in Australia’s semi-final win over West Indies and here went one better, playing one of the all-time great one-day innings.

What made the assault all the more remarkable was a measured beginning – Australia took only 37 from the first 10 overs in the face of some searching new-ball bowling.

Healy and Haynes, who made 68, were just starting to go through the gears when the drops came in the same Kate Cross over. Haynes, on 47, escaped as a diving Danni Wyatt missed a chance at point, Healy had 41 when the ball burst through Sciver’s hands at mid-wicket.

Reaching a half-century from 62 balls was Healy’s signal to go into overdrive. She scored in all areas of the ground, toying with England by hitting the ball where a fielder had just been moved from. Healy’s second 50 came from 38 balls, her third from just 29.

After Haynes miscued to point, Beth Mooney arrived to bludgeon 62 from 47 balls in a stand of 156 that came in little more than 16 overs. Australia took 120 runs in a final 10 overs of mayhem.

By the time Healy departed, stumped off Anya Shrubsole, she had cracked 23 fours and become the first woman to pass 500 runs at a single World Cup.

All inside a packed Hagley Oval stood to applaud Healy, Australia’s magnificent match-winner and player of the tournament.

Friend zones are common these days and they seem to affect both men and women. Today we feature a story or rather confession from Tonde (not his real name) who works at a bank in Avondale Harare.

Hello Admin please assist me in sharing my story and maybe one of your readers can assist me. I work in Harare as a banker and I have been friends with this lady for years now. She is recently single after breaking up with this crazy Harare Mbinga.

The thing is we went to school together and seems I have been friend-zoned since then, she tells me about all her boyfriends and it hurts me how they treat her. I try to show her that I love her but she always brushes it aside and takes me as a joke.

We hang out every other weekend and this has somewhat had an impact on my dating life, every woman I try to date tells me to focus on one woman as I can’t stop talking about my friend. Please help me, how do I show her that I am serious and that I really love her. If I can’t have her please help me get rid of this woman.

It pains me to know I can’t have her and I also can’t have any other woman I want because there is already someone in my life who put me on friendzone. How do I get over this woman?
