A Zimbabwean aged 50 employed as a mechanic by the Mupane Gold Mine in Botswana died while pumping a Load Haul Dump (LHD) loader tyre that exploded on him.

Mupane general manager, Cedric Samtoldf the media that the incident but could not identify the deceased on condition his relatives back home were yet to be informed of his death.

The man sustained fatal injuries when the tyre he was pumping exploded.

“I can certainly confirm that one of our mechanics died while inflating a tyre for one of our LHD loaders. Investigations are still on-going,” he said.

“So far, the police have been to the scene and we are waiting for officials from the department of mines to come and do their investigations.”

The officials from the department of mine had to travel to Francistown from Gaborone to carry out investigations at the mine.

Mupane gold mine is located in Northeastern Botswana 30km South-East of Francistown and it is the country’s sole gold operation.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has kicked off Ebola vaccinations to stem an outbreak in the northwest city of Mbandaka, the World Health Organisation said on Wednesday.

Two people are known to have died so far in the city of over one million inhabitants where people live in close proximity to road, water and air links to the capital Kinshasa.

The first death occurred on April 21 and the second on Tuesday, marking the central African country’s 14th Ebola outbreak.

Around 200 doses of the Ebola vaccine have been shipped to Mbandaka from the eastern city of Goma, with more doses to be delivered in the coming days, the WHO said in a statement. So far 233 contacts have been identified and are being monitored, it added.

South African actor and media personality Dingaan Mokebe (ka Khumalo) has advised women not to be modern if they want to be married to men who conform to the traditional roles of being providers and protectors.

The talented actor, well known for portraying James Motsamai on SABC 2 soapie Muvhango, said this while dishing dating advice to women. According to him, you cannot be a modern woman and expect a good relationship with a traditional man.

He counselled women who want to be modern to look for modern men to ensure that the relationships work with no friction.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, the Muvhango actor said,

“If you want a guy who can provide, protect, secure, who can make sure you have clothes, petrol, food and everything, that’s a traditional man. Then how do you come and want to be with a traditional man when you want to be a modern woman?”

Playwright and actress Ayanda Borotho and cultural expert, Dr Gugu Mazibuko, have lambasted Ayanda Ncwane.

They accused her of using KZN flood victims for her own publicity.

A week ago, Ayanda visited her home village in Endwedwe and took photos of herself with KZN flood victims.

In some of the photos, she can be seen kneeling down in front of the candles and clothes of the deceased.

Borotho and Mazibuko felt she was being opportunistic.

In her Instagram post, Borotho asked people to respect the families of the deceased and refrain from this practice.

She wrote: “Can we please stop posting the people affected? Post the destruction, not the people.

“This is not about you. It’s not about us. It’s about those affected. Post what you’re doing; your groceries and blankets. These we post to encourage people to give and raise funds.

“But going as far as posing for pictures, posting imisamo where clothes of their children and family members are laid in memoriam, and women in mattresses?

“What is this about? What are you doing exactly? Where’s dignity in that?

“People have lost everything and you come and strip them of the little dignity that’s left just so you can post? This is not PR but real people. Stop playing with real lives on these fake social media streets.”

A cultural expert Dr Gugu Mazibuko agreed with Borotho, saying: “Posing for photos with grieving families shows lack of Ubuntu. Culturally, if you are donating, there is no need to publicize your good gesture. Such act reduces the recipients to paupers.

“We also frown upon people who take photos of umsamo (prayer place) with candles and clothes of the deceased. “Unfortunately, the affected families find themselves in a tight position because they cannot stop such people from invading their space. They are desperate for their help as a result they simply go with the flow even if they don’t like it,” said Mazibuko.

When the publication contacted Ayanda, she neither responded to text messages nor answered her calls.

The DJ has since reacted to the rumours and she was foaming at the mouth. In a series of tweets, she gave trolls s a piece of her mind.

“Real question. What do these picture prove? Instead you’re trying to bring down people who have nothing to do with this. I now have to prove my gender based off of my physique and based off of a rumour? You guys are so weird,” she wrote.

Jub Jub landed in hot water following a controversial interview he did with podcaster MacG where Jub Jub briefly touched on his relationship with Amanda du Pont. Amanda denied Jub Jub’s claims that he “smashed her” and said she was afraid to leave the relationship because he made her feel she couldn’t dump him.

“No, you didn’t smash me, you raped me, you forcibly opened my legs, forced me myself for two years, and made me believe that there was no way out. . The most painful part of all of this was that I was a virgin and I told him at the time. I told Jub Jub at the time that I was a virgin and I planned to be a virgin until the time I got married,” said an emotional Amanda.

She continued: “So it is not true. I didn’t leave because I saw a picture. I left because he tried to kill me and I have always been afraid to leave because of the treats that were made but at that moment where he tried to kill me I knew the very thing I was afraid of, which was dying… I knew was meant to happen that day and I actually got away.”

Amanda added that she eventually sought help. “When I got away I went to the police station to try and open a case of abuse and rape and attempted murder. The police officer said to me to go home and think about my decision because he is so sick and tired of women coming to him with their boyfriends and husbands only having to take them back,” she said in part. It is believed that the matter is now in the hands of Amanda du Pont’s legal team.

To return to Moja Love, it was reported that Jub Jub was ordered to apologise to Kelly Khumalo, whom he alleged that she uses muthi. It was either that, or he could lose his job on the channel.

Jub Jub eventually issued a statement apologising to Kelly Khumalo for the statements he made in the interview.

“….I would like to apologies for the distress, or hurt I may have caused her following not only the aftermath of my interview on podcast and chill with Mac G but also any other public opinion,” he said.

“There is no way I can take back the missed years in his life. However, given the opportunity by you, I know that I can be a good father to him…”

“You are the mother of my son, and I have a lot of respect for you. In me trying to set the record straight about me being an absent father to my son or me not caring or loving him, a lot of wrongs happened in a short space of time during that interview,” read Jub Jub’s statement.

Jub Jub, who has not made any public appearances since the interview with Mac G recently announced on Instagram that he’ll be dropping a new track this Thursday evening with legendary producer DJ Cleo tired Amaswid.

Nomzamo revealed that when she was growing up during the heavy rains, their home used to flood and her grandmother and she will wait and sit for the storm to pass while water would be up to their knees.

“When I was growing up, during heavy rains my home used to flood. Badly. My grandmother and I would sit and wait for the storm to pass while water would be up to our knees. When the rain would finally stop, I would begin with pushing the water out with buckets, then with a broom, then with towels and blankets, then finally with a mop. I had a system. There is no system when the rain is covering the roof of a home and sandpits slide and bury the entire inside. I keep thinking of the helplessness of people realising what was happening and having no chance to even run. Families wiped out.

Vyno took to his Twitter account on Freedom Day (27 April) to explain to his fans what the status is between him and Terry.

This follows allegations made by controversial and under fire entertainment commentator Musa Khawula who tweeted on Tuesday 26 April that the Ayoyo musician has been unfaithful.

Vyno and Terry’s steamy romance started in the Big Brother house with the pair often failing to hide their affection towards each other. This led to fans immediately “shipping” the couple and hoping that they pursue a relationship outside the show – which they did.

During her interview with Sowetan following her eviction in March, Terry gushed over Vyno as her boyfriend.

“Yes, Vyno is my boyfriend, we are in a relationship and I cannot wait to see what he and I pursue outside the house… I like how he’s very chilled and I’m extroverted, he helps me to calm down, we balance each other out,” she had said.

Radio and TV personality Anele Mdoda‘s son Alakhe has scored himself major bragging rights after getting a picture with Trevor Noah and Burna Boy.

While Alakhe is no stranger to “The Daily Show” host, who is good friends with his mother, he recently got to rub shoulders with the Nigerian superstar as well.
Anele and Alakhe were at “The Daily Show” studios and got to witness the filming of Burna Boy’s interview on the Comedy Central show. The “Celebrity Game Night” host is currently on a two month break from radio and has taken a much needed holiday.

They are currently in the US and have visited places like Atlanta, where they dined with veteran broadcaster Felicia Mabuza-Suttle.

In her interview with Sizwe Dhlomo on his KayaFM Afternoon Drive show, she explained why she only dates rich men.

“The thing is with my relationships I treat them like how I buy a car or a house … you know what you want in the house. I know what my requirements are and I’m not going to back down.

“So many people confuse relationships and say, ‘Ah, I’m looking for love’ and two months down the relationship they’re looking for something else and that’s why they’ll never win because you haven’t made it clear what you want,” she told the radio presenter.

Knowing how sensitive Kudzai is, many were worried about him following The Wife s.e.x scene involving his woman.
