Check out Zahara’s house that was almost repossessed

Zahara, real name, Bulelwa Mkutukana, is a multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Eastern Cape who first shot to fame when she released her debut album- Loliwe about ten years ago and has continued to remain consistently relevant in the music industry with each hit she produces.

The past few months have been rough on Zahara as she found herself in a deep financial crisis that almost saw her lose her house. Fortunately, it appears that the dust has finally settled and it seems that Zahara is back on track.

Here is a look at everything you need to know about Zahara’s house that was almost repossessed by the bank including photos of the lovely place.

Details and photos of Zahara’s house

Zahara

Zahara’s house is a beautiful three-bedroomed townhouse located in an upscale complex in the serene suburb of Little Falls in Roodepoort, West of Johannesburg.

According to sources, the musician bought her lovely home in 2013 at a whopping price of R 1.9 million.

She bought her home months after her family complained about her deplorable living conditions, claiming that she was homeless and living like a maid in Thembinkosi Nciza’s house who was the executive producer at her former production label.

In addition to buying her house, Zahara also bought herself a sleek Audi A5 which reportedly cost her R 500,000 at the time.

Zahara

For several months now, Zahara has been making headlines for not-so-good reasons. The musician has been in deep financial trouble and was on the verge of losing everything including her beautiful house.

According to reports by Sunday World, Zahara who had taken up a loan from Nedbank to buy her house was at risk of her having the house repossessed by the bank after she failed to make her monthly mortgage payments. The Loliwe hitmaker reportedly had arrears amounting to R17 665.40 which was equivalent to six months of missed payments.

Luckily for Zahara, her fans came through for her and donated a total of about R350 000 which helped her save her house. The artist is also getting back on her feet and already has a reality show coming soon.

Zahara

Although her music has always done well, Zahara’s financial woes began a long time ago and it appears that she has not been getting fully paid for her talent. The artist has always blamed DJ Sbu and Tk Nciza of the now liquidated record label- TS Records, for “exploiting her financially” and not paying her dues.

In addition to that, Zahara has also struggled with drinking problems since 2015. In December 2018, a local publication reported that Zahara had been hospitalized after suffering from a liver-related illness which had been worsened by her drinking problems.

Since taking ownership of her problems and publicly admitting that she was struggling, it appears that hope is finally getting her life back on track and we love that for her.

South African music star Makhadzi has scheduled a potentially explosive performance for October 22 at Odyssey Lodge in Kadoma.

It appears the multi-award-winning Makhadzi has fallen in love with Zimbabwe or maybe it is the local music promoters who are cashing in on the songbird’s popularity among the locals.

Born Ndivhunzannyi Ralivhona, she makes a return to Zimbabwe, courtesy of 2 Kings Entertainment, barely five months after her performance at the inaugural JamAfro Festival at Alex Sport Club in Harare.

The Murahu hitmaker has confirmed the concert through a video drop that has since gone viral on different digital platforms.

“Hello everyone, this is Makhadzi, please catch me live at Kadoma, Odyssey Hotel in Zimbabwe, October 22, I am coming,” she said.

At the show, Makhadzi will share the stage with Jah Prayzah, who she has collaborated with on the track Makokovha off her Muya Wanga album released in 2020.

The concert organisers said supporting acts’ names will be released as soon they finalise contractual agreements.

“We are happy to be hosting award-winning Makhadzi from South Africa for a performance on October 22 at Odyssey Lodge in Kadoma. Makhadzi has an understanding of the local market and commands a huge following in the country with many of her popular sing-along songs, so merrymakers should expect a night of good music,” said one of the concert organisers.

Zim woman dies at South African hospital after being neglected due to her nationality

The death of a Zimbabwean woman in a Krugersdorp hospital has left a deep scar among Zimbabweans who are desperate to receive health services in South Africa.

Luyanda Moyo, 21, is a Zimbabwean immigrant who visited South African medical centres to give birth but was allegedly met with poor treatment and lack of attention because of her nationality.

Moyo gave birth at the Yusuf Dadoo hospital in Krugersdorp to a baby weighing 4kg.

Despite complaining of pain and excessive bleeding, she alleged that the medical staff in the maternity ward did not pay attention to her.

Luyanda’s uncle, Gibson Tshuma, told “The Star” that she was so neglected to the point of being the last patient in the ward.

“The Star” understands that nurses found Luyanda dead hours after giving birth.

Luyanda Moyo, 21, is a Zimbabwean immigrant who visited South African medical centres to give birth

She was in so much pain that she apparently told nurses that she would rather die than bare the pain she was in.

Her family is calling for an investigation into her death.

Tshuma said the family was concerned that the statements uttered by Limpopo Health MEC, Phophi Rmathuba, could have caused the staff at the hospital to have a negative attitude towards illegal Zimbabwean seeking medical attention in parts of South Africa.

Tshuma said when they found Luyanda’s body in the hospital her clothes were covered in blood.

The hospital failed to explain what happened to Luyanda.

“Based on the messages on her cellphone she was overdue and she was given an inducing pill even though they acknowledged that the baby was too big for her to deliver naturally,” Tshuma said.

“The Star” listened to some voice notes that Luyanda shared with her mother before she died.

In some of them the young woman was describing the unbearable pain she was in to his mother.

“It’s so painful… they haven’t checked on me, I think they will come today,” Luyanda said in a voice note to her mother.

Luyanda’s baby boy survived and is with his grandmother but the family said it was still left with a million questions concerning how Luyanda died.

“We are demanding answers as to what happened, we are not getting clear answers.

“They induced her even when they had observed an operation was necessary and then she was ignored when she was bleeding to death,” Tshuma said.

The family is preparing for Luyanda’s body to be transported back to Zimbabwe where her funeral will take place.

The family said it was concerned that if ordinary South Africans suffered poor service at hospital, the situations was worse for foreign nationals.

The Gauteng Department of Health did not respond to “The Star” questions by late afternoon yesterday.

Olinda Chapel comes through for struggling Mai TT

Controversial businesswoman Olinda Chapel has come out to assist socialite, Felistas “Mai Titi” Edwards who is swimming in debts incurred for her wedding to take place.

Mai Titi was in an extravagant wedding with Tinashe where US$100 000 was reportedly splashed to fund the ceremony.

Initially, according to Mai Titi, the agreement was for Maphosa to pay back the debts but after the ceremony, he did not do anything. This led to fights between the two and a subsequent breakup which left Mai Titi facing the debts alone.

In a bid to assist her, Olinda is buying 50 people dresses from Mai Titi’s shop.

This is what she had to say announcing the help;

I have been watching, listening. 🙌🏻. I have had so many people inbox me wanting to have the ”last laugh” with me.

Truth be told there is no last laugh in situations like this. I am heartbroken for Felistas. Everyone is in pursuit of happiness and no one will knowingly put themselves in situations that are heart breaking and tormenting to this extend.

She wanted happiness. She wanted to be winning just like each ans every one of us.

Yes she is loud. Yes tonoitirwa ma 9hr lives tichitukwa. It’s okay.

But every morning she has to be someone else’s strength so she isn’t allowed to breakdown and cry and she isn’t allowed to fall. I know the feeling.

I do however applaud her for her courage that passed her ego to say “I was played”. Admitting your were played is one of the hardest things to do, because denial will always play a big factor.

So listen little sis. It’s okay, you have been humiliated, dragged, made to look crazy, have had to do worse to prove yourself and more. Now is the time to show them what strong women are made of. We fall but we always rise. So get off the floor, het back to business. Make us laugh again with your skits.

Be you.

As for everyone else. I think entertainment is over. This is a real human being going through the worst or it could be God doing his work. Either way let’s support her. Go to her business’s buy a dress or bra. Send her a kind word. Leave nice comments. For it shall all be well.

If you go to her store and try on a dress with her, send me a video I will buy one dress for( $10 according to her adverts) to 50 women. Thats my way of supporting her and the community.

God bless you all.

Olinda’s kind gesture comes despite the bad blood between the two. The socialites are known for launching tirades at each other, hence, Olinda’s gesture has come as a surprise to many.

Durban Gen actress Nelisiwe Sibiya has been catching smoke a little too often on social media recently. After being accused of dating Robert Marawa, now the actress is being called out for not being a v1rgin as claimed.

Nelisiwe Sibiya has been attached to a number of scandals ever since she was rumored to be dating Sports Commentator Veteran Robert Marawa. However, even after those rumors have been put to rest, Nelisiwe Sibiya continues to be rumored to be involved in a number of things.

Tweeps came in their number to name and shame Nelisiwe Sibiya on many other things outside of her acting skills and ability. Another tweep inserted that Nelisiwe Sibiya is still a v1rgin. However, another tweep commented while rubbishing those claims.

Trump warns of World War III

The Ukraine conflict could end in a world war, but would not be happening if he were in power, the former US president claims

The conflict in Ukraine could spiral into World War III, former US President Donald Trump warned on Wednesday, after Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow would use all means necessary to defend itself in the face of a threat to its territorial integrity.

Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, the ex-president said the Ukraine conflict, which began after Russia launched its military offensive in late February, “should have never happened.”

Trump claimed that if he had still been in the White House, hostilities would have never broken out between Moscow and Kiev.

“As I have made clear for quite some time, this could end up being World War III,” he added.

On Wednesday, Putin announced a partial military mobilization of around 300,000 reservists to be called up for active service. The Russian leader also warned that Moscow “would use all the means to protect our people,” including nuclear weapons if necessary.

“This is not a bluff,” Putin insisted, saying Russia would use “all available means” to protect its independence and security.

This is not the first time Trump has sounded the alarm over the repercussions from the Ukraine crisis. In June, he criticized his successor, President Joe Biden, for the way his administration has handled the crisis, slamming the incumbent for sending tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Kiev, which, he said, only adds fuel to the conflict.

“And we’re in serious danger with what’s going on in Ukraine and with Russia. You could end up with a world war the way they’re handling it. It’s crazy what they’re doing,” he said at the time.

Charges against CCC activist Haruzivishe dropped

High Court has dropped charges against ‘self-exiled’ firebrand Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Makomborero Haruzivishe in a case where he was convicted of inciting public violence.

This follows a successful appeal against both conviction and sentence.

His lawyers have confirmed the development.

“We have ended the persecution of pro-democracy campaigner Makomborero by obtaining a High Court order quashing and setting aside his conviction and sentence for allegedly blowing a whistle during a protest as he has been found not guilty and acquitted by Justice Zhou,” said Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

Haruzivishe was represented by Obey Shava of ZLHR.

The activist was last year convicted on charges of inciting public violence and resisting a police officer following a protest held in Harare.

He was sentenced to an effective 14 months imprisonment after a Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga set aside 10 months of his 24 months jail term conditionally.

On the second count of resisting arrest, Haruzivishe was sentenced to 12 months and of these, six were suspended on conditions he did not commit a similar offence.

Both sentences were running concurrently.

Last year, he spent 10 months in jail before he was granted bail pending his appeal.

However, the activist still has several criminal cases still pending before the courts.

He was recently issued an arrest warrant amid reports that he went into self-exile.

A full judgement on the latest matter is yet to be availed.

Zimbabwe needs 100 000 teachers

Zimbabwe needs more than 100 000 teachers following a mass exodus of educators to other countries due to low salaries offered by government, unions have said.

A government circular seen by NewsDay revealed that government will soon recruit 3 904 teachers.

Angola and Qatar have warmed up to employing Zimbabwean teachers and other professionals to work in their public service.

Already, government is finalising the vetting of 225 professionals to be posted to Rwanda after the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on exchange of teachers.

However, teachers’ unions, which spoke to NewsDay, said the number was not enough to meet demand.

Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Obert Masaraure said the number being recruited was just a drop in the ocean.

“Our schools are in desperate need of almost 100 000 teachers now. The numbers are just a drop in the ocean. Beyond recruitment, we should also focus on retention. The ongoing drive towards faceless growth must be stopped. Millions of learners are failing to access education,” Masaraure said.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou said: “The 3 904 teachers fall far short of the deficit in schools in Zimbabwe. Above all, even the number may not be successfully deployed as in 2021, government ultimately failed to deploy 5 000 teachers due to alleged inflation on the resources allocated to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.”

DNA results confirm Livingstone Sunhwa’s death

DNA results have confirmed the death of St Mathias Tsonzo High School student, Livingstone Sunhwa, ten months after his mysterious disappearance.

Livingstone disappeared from his school under unclear circumstances on the 6th of December last year.

The hope of seeing her child again is now shattered and Selina Tadya can only hope that the latest DNA results will open a comprehensive investigation into the mysterious death.

“The DNA results have confirmed that it is Livingstone, but we are not yet sure the cause of death because as they say the bones were much exposed to rain and hot temperatures. I cannot bring him back, but I want to see those behind this act of evil being punished for what they did to my son,” said Livingstone’s mother.

The results may be the first to confirm the suspicions that have prevailed over the boy’s death, pointing to what relatives say is a cover-up by school authorities.

Exclusive interviews carried out by the ZBC News crew before the results reveal a sad pattern of events where relatives confirmed the brutal torture of the young boy by school authorities on the fateful day.

In July this year, startling revelations were made by some community members who first discovered traces of human hair in their drinking water source.

According to the community, it was only then that they first heard of the missing boy almost eight months on.

The St Mathias Tsonzo and Anglican Church officials have been mum on the boy’s disappearance, with revelations they have not reached out to console the family.

Relatives are now pushing for a thorough investigation interrogating the role of the now suspended school head and the law enforcers accused of punishing the deceased.

2018 shooting victims still searching for answers

$

1st of August 2018 will remain one of the darkest days in post-Independence Zimbabwe after six unarmed civilians were fatally shot by army officers in broad daylight.

A dark cloud enveloped Harare as the military brazenly shot unarmed civilians in an effort to quell protests against the delayed announcement of the 2018 Presidential election results.

Opposition supporters had stormed the streets, registering their displeasure against the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)’s delay.

For Allison Charles, the day is a stark reminder of how her brother ‘s life was ended prematurely and in broad daylight.

The 48-year old Gavin Dean Charles was among six civilians that perished on the fateful day.

Just mentioning her brother’s name triggers indescribable emotions for Charles who failed to hold back tears as she recounted the painful experience of seeing her brother dead, his body riddled with bullets.

Charles continues to seek answers about the unfortunate death of her brother.

“I still do not like to talk about it; it’s still a very painful thing to talk about,” she said.

“It is still very raw. He left a daughter who is still in high school. She does not have a father now to back her up and pay her school fees.

“It is not about money, it is about moral support that we had. They took her father away from her and there has been nothing done. It is four years down the line and no one has even apologised to the family.”

The controversial shootings were a major setback for President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was desperate to cleanse the country’s image which had been tainted under former leader Robert Mugabe.

Prior to the elections which were first since the ouster of Robert Mugabe, President Mnangagwa had pledged to set the country a new trajectory, free from violence.

Bowing down to pressure after calls to investigate the shootings, President Mnangagwa established a commission of inquiry to probe the shootings headed by former South African president Kgalema Motlanthe.

The commission released its report with the military being incriminated in the shootings.

Among recommendations by the Motlanthe Commission was the establishment of the fund by the Government to compensate families of the deceased.

Charles believes the Mothlante headed commission was a waste of time as it has failed to bring closure and healing to her family.

“Nothing has happened; nothing real, nothing solid has happened. We just sit and wait.We went to the masters office and we put the beneficiaries names down which is my niece but nothing has been done since,” said.

In their push for justice, the Charles family approached the courts to no avail as the High Court threw away their case.

Facing a similar predicament, Maxwell Tauro who lost his son, Challenge Tauro, in the shootings wishes for the full hand of law to catch up with the perpetrators of the  shootings.

“Until now, it is still painful to understand what happened with Challenge.,” said Tauro.

“There are people back home who are doing rites on the graves of their relatives but I can not do that on Chellenge’s grave because I cannot afford it. He was a breadwinner, someone I could depend on. Life has been on a stand still since then.

“The last time Government got in touch with us was when we appeared before the Mothlanthe Commission and since then there has been nothing.”

To crank up pressure on the government to implement the recommendations from the Commission, Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) has written to Mothlanthe.

“The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition has engaged victims of the August 1, 2018 shootings and relatives of the deceased and it came out during the engagements that there is lack of political will by the government to implement the Motlanthe Commission of Inquiry recommendations

“In light of this challenge we have also engaged His Excellency, Kgalema Motlanthe raising our concern over the stance by the Zimbabwean government,” said Peter Mutasa, CiZC chairman.

Thuso Mbedu has put a troll where he belongs after criticising her accent.

The Woman King star recently weighed in on the struggles of load-shedding when a social media user jumped on the conversation to claim she should “reduce the American accent”.

However, Thuso could not overlook this as she slammed the troll.

The user said: “I was watching your interview. Don’t lose the South African accent”

Without hesitation, Thuso responded as she told the critic to stick their nose somewhere else.

“Don’t talk about things you know nothing about,” she said.
