Actress Ama Qamata has announced that she has been working on a film in Rwanda and Congo for the past 2 months. Filming has finally concluded on the Fight Like A Girl film and Ama has expressed her excitement at being granted the opportunity to work in Rwanda and Congo while exploring the beauty of the countries.

“That is officially a wrap on ‘Fight Like A Girl’. Spent almost 2 months in Congo and Rwanda training and shooting this phenomenal film. What an honour it has been to experience the other side of this beautiful continent and to be completely immersed on the culture,” She said on her Instagram stories.

Ama left Gomora when season two ended after she found out that her step-father/uncle Phumlani is a murderer and ran away from home. When she came back, she got a lift and was killed by Gomora’s dangerous thug, Qhoqhoqho.

Ever since then viewers had been devastated at her exit but were also worried that she was not working on anything besides blood and water.

“I am so humbled that in my lifetime I get to witness the growth of Africa in the film industry and how we are telling our own stories, a real dream come true. Cant wait for everyone to see this incredible story,” said Ama.
Leaving Gomora, Ama said, “Can’t even find the right words to type out right now. I’ll keep it simple, thank you Gomora it’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be on the show. It was an opportunity of a lifetime and I’m so blessed to have shared it with you guys.”

“Thank you to the cast, crew, and producers who are like family to me. Thank you, South Africa, for embracing Buhle in your homes and public lol. I don’t take for granted what this show has done for my growth and career, I’m forever humbled and grateful.

Manchester City 4 – 0 Southampton

Erling Haaland scored his 20th goal for Manchester City as his side swept Southampton aside to move top of the Premier League.

The 22-year-old Norway striker has taken only 13 games to reach that mark in all competitions, with struggling Saints the latest side to find out how hard it is to keep him or his team-mates quiet.

City attacked relentlessly from the start and Haaland was within inches of giving them an early lead when he hit the inside of the post after galloping clear.

Instead it was Joao Cancelo who put the home side ahead, running on to Phil Foden’s pass and cutting past James Ward-Prowse before finding the bottom corner of the net.

Foden, who like Haaland scored a hat-trick here against Manchester United last weekend, got on the scoresheet himself soon afterwards with a dinked finish after Kevin de Bruyne found him in space in the box.

That put City in complete control at the break and they wrapped up the points at the start of the second half when Mahrez volleyed home a Rodri cross.

The only thing missing for the home fans was another Haaland goal, and for once it appeared it might not be his day.

Haaland was unable to get on the end De Bruyne’s cross under pressure from Mohammed Salisu, and then brilliantly denied by Bazunu, who dived at his feet as he charged through at goal.

As the chances kept coming, however, you just knew Haaland would take one – and so he did, meeting Cancelo’s cutback with a typically precise low finish to make it 4-0 after 65 minutes.

Southampton, who managed only one touch in the City area and a total of two shots – both from distance and both off target – never looked like avoiding a fourth-straight defeat.

City was last in the top spot on 20 August and might not stay there for long – Arsenal will return to the summit if they beat Liverpool on Sunday.

Regardless of their current position in the table, though, it is clear Pep Guardiola’s side is in the sort of form which will worry all of their title rivals.

The defending champions are the last unbeaten side in England’s top four divisions but it is the way they are despatching opponents that is the most ominous sign.

City’s stroll against Saints means they have now scored 33 goals in nine league games, 13 more than Arsenal who have the next-best tally.

Having Haaland obviously helps – he now has 15 league goals for the season, matching the tally of De Bruyne when he finished as the top scorer in that competition in 2021-22 – but his teammates keep scoring too.

Chelsea 3 – 0 Wolves

Armando Broja scored his first Chelsea goal in a dominant victory over a lacklustre Wolves, who remain without a permanent manager.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time but the Blues could have put the game out of sight long before then.

Christian Pulisic doubled the lead, playing a one-two with Mason Mount and sending the ball sailing past goalkeeper Jose Sa before Broja hammered into the bottom corner with his left foot late on.

The game marked Graham Potter’s first home Premier League victory as Chelsea boss.

He made wholesale changes to the line-up from the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend, swapping seven players and showcasing the depth in the squad, with Conor Gallagher earning a start after scoring the winner last time out and Reece James and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the bench.

Wolves, playing their first match since sacking manager Bruno Lage last weekend, were unorganised and Diego Costa, making his first start for the Midlands club against his former side, struggled to get in the game with the team hemmed in their own half.

The 1-0 scoreline at half-time flattered Wolves as Cesar Azpilicueta, playing in his first Premier League game since August, put several teasing deliveries into the box which no one could latch on to, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic both hammered over the bar.

Gallagher looked lively from the outset, while Mount was dynamic – it was his lofty delivery from the right-hand side that picked out Havertz for the opener, with the Germany international’s header looping over Sa.

But Broja, who impressed on loan at Southampton last season, will have been pleased to get off the mark with his first goal for the club when he replaced Mount after the break.

Without defender Ruben Neves, who is suspended having picked up five yellow cards this season, Wolves looked uncomfortable at the back, giving the ball away carelessly deep in their own half and making hard work for themselves in dangerous areas.

Wolves have been linked with former Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui, with interim boss Steve Davis saying earlier in the week he had been told he was in charge of the match against Chelsea but was unsure of the situation beyond that.

They remain stuck in the relegation zone having lost their last three matches, while Chelsea moves to fourth.

Newcastle United 5 – 1 Brentford

Eddie Howe praised “outstanding” Bruno Guimaraes as Newcastle marked a year since their takeover with a crushing win over Brentford.

Guimaraes put Newcastle ahead with a flying header before Jacob Murphy doubled the advantage shortly after following an error from David Raya.

Ivan Toney scored against his old club via a penalty, but Guimaraes netted again less than two minutes after.

Brentford was first to have the ball in the back of the net, Bryan Mbeumo running onto a Shandon Baptiste flick and slamming through Nick Pope’s legs. However Toney was ruled to be interfering with play as he moved out of the way of the ball while offside, and the effort was ruled out by VAR.

Instead, Newcastle took the lead, Kieran Trippier brilliantly curling in a far-post cross from deep after a short corner with Guimaraes heading home.

Newcastle boss Howe, speaking to Match of the Day, said of Guimaraes: “He was outstanding. We really missed him when he was out [as he is] a quality player who helps us in every phase.”

United doubled their lead thanks to a howler from Raya, who passed straight to Callum Wilson. He played square for Murphy to strike past covering defender Ben Mee.

Toney made it 2-1 from the spot after Aaron Hickey headed against Dan Burn’s raised arm, but one minutes and 57 seconds later Guimaraes restored the two-goal advantage as he won the ball from Hickey near the halfway line, drove forward and struck to Raya’s right from 25 yards.

Brentford were their own worst enemies as they were caught playing out from the back again, Pinnock selling Raya short with an under-hit pass that Almiron burst on to and slammed home.

Pinnock was again at fault for number five, sticking a boot out right in front of Raya to deflect a low cross from the left past his own goalkeeper.

Five-star Toon on day of celebration
One year and a day since a Saudi-led consortium took over their club, Newcastle’s fans were in a celebratory mood at St James’ Park. A tifo covered the Gallowgate End before kick-off, based on the takeover announcement and listing the signings made in the past 12 months.

Two of the players signed by the current owners are Trippier and Guimaraes, and both were in the stellar form here. Trippier’s crossing was a constant menace, as he left a timely reminder as to why he may go to the World Cup with England ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Guimaraes was the driving force from midfield for Eddie Howe’s side, his goals ending a run of three successive home draws for the Tynesiders.

Almiron was also excellent – signed during the Mike Ashley era and often maligned, he was an endlessly energetic attacking presence, forcing a great save from Raya after five minutes and carrying on in that form.

He only got one goal last season but is already on four this campaign, and after scoring was presented with a Paraguay flag from the crowd – a sign of the esteem in which he is held by fans.

Of Almiron, Howe said: “It is all about building consistency to his game but he has performed brilliantly off the ball and now he is adding goals to that.”

The return of Allan Saint-Maximin as a late substitute capped a terrific day for Newcastle, the forward has not played since August because of a hamstring injury.

Brentford last won at Newcastle 88 years ago, and aside from a VAR-crushed moment early on never looked likely to end that sequence here.

The goalless draw at Bournemouth last weekend marked their first clean sheet in 20 Premier League away fixtures. With five shipped here, clearly Thomas Frank has issues to solve in defence.

Frank told Match of the Day: “In general I never thought we would concede five goals, we did today. In life and football, it is about how you respond to setbacks.

“If you want to win football matches it is relatively important you don’t make one, two, three, or four mistakes leading to goals. To make four mistakes then you lose football games and basically, that is it.

“We are of course fuming. I can feel my anger bursting around inside me. It is the same as the players and we will bounce back.”

It was also a bad day for Toney, captaining Brentford at the stadium where he made two Premier League substitute appearances for Newcastle in 2015-16, the sum of his top-flight career for the north-east side.

After inadvertently denying his side their opener, Toney did score with his 21st successive converted penalty, early in the second half.

He has been involved in eight of Brentford’s 16 Premier League goals this season, scoring six – but it is at the other end of the field where their major problems lie.

Bournemouth 2 – 1 Leicester City

$

Bournemouth staged a superb second-half comeback to seal an impressive win over Leicester City and turn up the heat on Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester looked in control after Patson Daka’s early opener but failed to capitalise and had no answer to a rousing Bournemouth reply.

Philip Billing thrashed home a superb volley to level the scores before Ryan Christie touched in Dominic Solanke’s knock-down five minutes later to complete the revival.

Jamie Vardy helped inject some urgency into Leicester’s play and went close with a couple of cross-shots, but the good feeling established by Monday’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest had long evaporated by the end.

Interim boss Gary O’Neil has not lost any of his five games in charge at Vitality Stadium and, in front of prospective new owner Bill Foley, this performance only boosts his chances of getting the permanent job.

Defeat keeps Leicester mired in 19th with just four points from their opening nine games, while Bournemouth move up to eighth, level on points with Manchester United who play Everton on Sunday.

Scott Parker lost his job as Bournemouth manager after stating publicly that the team needed new players in the wake of the desperate 9-0 defeat at Liverpool in August.

Six weeks on, and five games unbeaten under interim boss O’Neil, this win moves the Cherries two points clear of Liverpool, albeit having played two games more.

O’Neil has brought stability and structure to this Cherries side and has also added a resilience, shown first by a victory from two goals down at Nottingham Forest and then here.

In the first half they lacked a cutting edge and were well marshalled by Leicester, trailing to Daka’s strike and with only Ryan Fredericks’ claims for a penalty to get excited about.

After the break though they were a different proposition, pushing the Foxes back and deservedly equalising, even if Billing’s fine finish was preceded by bad errors from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Wout Faes for Leicester.

Sensing blood against the Premier League’s worst defence, Bournemouth attacked again and Billing was given time to pick out Solanke whose neat header was tucked away by Christie.

It nearly got even better, only for Jaidon Anthony’s late strike on the counter-attack to be ruled out for an offside in the build-up.

A new era beckons under Foley – on this evidence, O’Neil should be part of it.

As for Leicester, that victory over Forest had seemed to mark a turning point, but the old failings that brought six defeats in a row were in evidence once again.

Faes and centre-back partner Jonny Evans looked dominant in the first half, but Faes’ loose touch let Solanke in to set up Bournemouth’s leveller and then they were too passive for the winner.

It has been a horrible start to the season for Rodgers’ side and the next two fixtures at home to Crystal Palace and Leeds may prove crucial in deciding his future.

Brighton 0 – 1 Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane scored his eighth goal of the season as Tottenham won at Brighton to strengthen their place in the top three of the Premier League.

The England striker’s stooping first-half header was enough to secure a victory that keeps Spurs third and three points behind leaders Manchester City.

Brighton, who could have moved level on points with the visitors with a win, started slowly but grew into the game and had chances to equalise before the break.

Lewis Dunk sent a header just over the bar before Solly March hit a low effort just wide of goal as half-time approached.

But in the second half, both sides struggled to break each other down, although Kane should have put the game out of sight when he turned his marker but dragged his shot wide, while Danny Welbeck swept a good chance off target for the hosts.

A late injury to Kane took some of the shine off the win as the England striker went off after getting caught on the back of his foot, but he was able to walk off the pitch and confirmed after the game that it was “just a knock”.

The win means Tottenham have 20 points from nine games, while Brighton is sixth with 14 points.

It has been a difficult week for all connected with Tottenham following the death of the club’s fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone.

The Italian had been part of Antonio Conte’s backroom staff since November 2021 and was clearly well-liked among the players.

A minute’s applause took place before kick-off, during which Conte was in tears, and once the game got underway there appeared to be an extra element of determination from Spurs to get a result for Ventrone.

They were more hungry than Brighton in the opening exchanges and deservedly took the lead through the header from Kane, who pointed to the sky when he celebrated.

Tottenham was unable to kick on from that but did just enough to pick up their sixth win in nine Premier League games and ensure they remain firmly in the picture at the top end of the table.

Roberto de Zerbi made an immediate impact by guiding Brighton to an impressive 3-3 draw at Liverpool in his first game in charge last week.

The Seagulls had been crafted into an enjoyable team to watch by Graham Potter and De Zerbi has picked up from that while adding his own influence.

Although they were not quite as direct and attacking as they were in the early stages of the Liverpool game, they nevertheless impressed once more against a Tottenham side that has started this season very well.

Brighton built possession well, working the ball from left to right to try and pull Tottenham out of shape and they could have had a goal but for better finishing.

The defeat ended their unbeaten run at home but there’s a clear sign of how De Zerbi wants to play that will be encouraging for Brighton fans.

Passionfruit custard cake recipe

This is a classic cake that any budding baker would be proud to master. It involves making your own custard from scratch but don’t worry, with this foolproof method, you can’t go wrong. If you don’t have any fresh passionfruit, it’s ok to use canned.

40m prep
55m cook
10 servings

15 Ingredients

– 225g butter, at room temperature

– 150g (2/3 cup) caster sugar

– 2 tsp vanilla extract

– 3 eggs

– 300g (2 cups) self-raising flour

– 160ml (2/3 cup) milk

– Whipped cream, to serve

PASSIONFRUIT CUSTARD

– 500ml (2 cups) milk

– 100g (1/2 cup) caster sugar

– 35g (1/4 cup) cornflour

– 3 egg yolks

– 2 tbsp passionfruit pulp

– 140g (1/2 cup) bought passionfruit curd

PASSIONFRUIT ICING

– 150g (1 cup) icing sugar

– 2-3 tbsp passionfruit pulp

7 Method / Steps

Step 1

To make the custard, heat the milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Meanwhile, whisk the sugar, cornflour and egg yolks in a bowl until smooth.

Step 2

Whisk the warm milk into the sugar mixture. Pour the mixture into the pan. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until the mixture boils and thickens. Transfer to a bowl. Stir in passionfruit pulp and curd until well combined. Set aside, stirring occasionally, until cooled.

Step 3

Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Lightly grease a 20cm round springform pan and line the base and side with baking paper, extending the paper 4cm over the top.

Step 4

Use electric beaters to beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl until pale and creamy. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the flour and milk, in alternating batches, until well combined.

Step 5

Spoon half of the cake mixture into the prepared pan. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface. Spoon the cooled custard over the top and smooth the surface. Top with dollops of remaining cake mixture. Smooth the surface.

Step 6

Bake, covering loosely with foil if the cake browns too quickly, for 50 minutes or until firm to the touch. Set aside for 10 minutes to cool slightly before transferring, upright, to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 7

To make the icing, combine the sugar and enough of the passionfruit pulp in a bowl to form a drizzling icing consistency. Spread icing over the cake, letting it drip down the side. Serve warm or at room temperature, with whipped cream.

Woman marries two men, shares same bed with them

A Congolese woman has left social media users tongue tied after revealing that she is married to two men and are living in the same house with their children.

Francine Jisele lives with her first husband Remi Murula and her second one Albert Jarlace under the same roof in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Circumstances leading to this polyandric setup arose when Jisele’s first husband Remi left and disappeared for three good years.

“Just because life was not easy, the man went on a trip and never came back. I found myself alone out here, I spent three years and a half in a single life without my husband,” she told Afrimax in an interview.

“After those years I lost him I fell in love with this other man. After one year with the second husband, the first one came back,” she revealed.

Jisele hadn’t expected her husband to come back after being away for all those years.

“I met this woman when I was working in the mining industry and she told me that she had another husband and how that man left her saying that he was going to find a life,” explained Albert Jarlace.

“I felt I had no choice because we were already together since I had lived with her not knowing she had another man,” he added.

When Murula came back he fought Jarlace arguing that Jisele was his woman.

“The woman asked me not to leave her. So I felt that it was necessary to stay with her and for now we have one child together,” said Jarlace.

“Tuko watatu ( there are two men here and here) . We get along well, this woman is our wife. Since I left I didn’t talk to my wife once. When I came back I found my wife with another man,” added Murula.

Murula had initially asked his partner to go but Jarlace insisted he had nowhere else to go.

“At first I threw a tantrum but I realized if had talked to my wife she wouldn’t have done anything like that. I had no place to go and I was at fault,” he said.

We eat at the same table, sleep in the same bedroom and on the same bed. I love them both. We live at peace at home,” said Jisele.

The men share the work and bring home the bacon while the lady respects both of them. The concern they have is not being able to tell the children apart.

When it comes to intimate moments, one of us leaves the other to enjoy. The woman is the one who identifies who the father of the children is.

“My family knows my situation and advised me to calm down because I abandoned my wife,” said Murula.

Jisele says it’s hard for her; she wishes each man had a home and she would go to them. She doesn’t want the three of them to keep meeting in the same bedroom at the same time.

Ntando Duma and sister gush over their mother’s graduation

Ntando Duma and her sister DJ Lady Amar are beaming with pride after their mother graduated with honours.

The two stars shared images from an eventful day when their mother, Ntombikayise Zulu, collected her third belt at the University of SA, revealing she was graduating with her honours degree.

“My mom collected her honours today. This is her third belt. Please talk to her nice,” DJ Lady Amar wrote.

“You are truly living proof that beauty and brains can go together well. Congratulations for achieving the honours nkosyam mama. I am so proud of you. Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. I love you so much my graduate.”

This yet another testament that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

Oskido, who graduated in July, has used his platform to drive that narrative through motivational videos.

The Kalawa Jazzmee record label owner and DJ spoke of the importance of investing in yourself.

“It’s never too late to be what you want to be. Go out there and make sure you follow your dreams. Once you know what you want to do, focus on it. Invest in yourself. That’s the best thing you can do.

“Even slay queens invest in themselves. They identify the big spenders and attack them. They’ve mastered the slay queen game. So whatever department or whatever God has given you, whatever you want to do, make sure you focus on it. If you make mistakes you learn. What’s key is that you invest in yourself and that interest is for life,” he said.

President Mnangagwa says new mining royalty rule starts this month

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa said a new policy which compels miners to pay half of their royalties in commodities and in cash will start from this month as the country attempts to build mineral reserves for the first time.

The southern African nation will hold reserves of gold, diamond, platinum and lithium, Mnangagwa said.

“Starting this October, government now requires that part of these royalties come as actual refined mining product in respect of each of the four minerals,” he wrote in the state-owned paper.

Mining companies that operate in Zimbabwe include subsidiaries of Impala Platinum Ltd., Anglo American Platinum Ltd. and Sibanye Gold Ltd. Zimbabwe has the world’s third-largest reserves of platinum, and also mines nickel, chrome, lithium and coal.

The decision to ask miners to pay in commodity and cash will assist the government to build physical reserves of precious and strategic minerals and also enable the collection of cash revenue for day-to-day running of state affairs, Mnangagwa said. The reserves may also be used to securitise borrowings by government.

The central bank will be the custodian of the mineral reserves, which Mnangagwa said will receive only processed final products instead of stockpiling ore.

Four armed robbers stormed ABC Auctions along Seke Road in Harare on Friday night and got away with US$1,5 million after subduing two security guards at the premises.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said indications are that the suspects had received inside information.

“I can confirm that US$1,5 million was stolen from ABC Auctions last night (Friday) after about four armed robbers attacked two security guards at the premises,” he said.

“The guards were tied with a rope before the robbers proceeded to steal money from eight safes that are kept at the company. We will give a comprehensive statement tomorrow (today), as investigations are in progress.”

Asst Comm Nyathi said it appears the armed robbers knew the money was kept at the premises.”

As police, we are very much concerned about this trend because every time there is a major money heist like this, there is always someone who would have inside information.

“Information we have gathered so far shows that no one was injured during the armed robbery,” he said.

In a public notice posted on their social media platforms, ABC Auctions confirmed the robbery but did not disclose the amount.

The company promised to open its doors as usual from Monday

This robbery becomes the second-biggest heist after more than US$2,5 million was stolen from a ZB Bank cash-in-transit vehicle near Gwebi River along the Harare-Chinhoyi highway in January last year.

10 dead, 60 missing after boat capsizes in Nigeria

At least 10 people have died and another 60 are missing after a boat capsized in Nigeria’s southeastern Anambra state, officials said on Saturday.

The vessel, with 85 people on board, capsized amid heavy flooding, trapping the passengers, Thickman Tanimu, zonal coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, told Reuters.

Anambra state Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo said in a statement that 10 people had drowned. The head of Anambra State Emergency Management Agency said 15 people had been rescued as of Saturday evening.

The incident happened between 11 a.m. (1000 GMT) and noon on Friday, the agency said.

Area resident and former local government leader Afam Ogene said the boat’s engine failed and it was overpowered by waves shortly after it launched.

“It is a locally made boat that can take more than hundred people, unfortunately its engine failed and there was a stampede,” Ogene said.

Tanimu said a military disaster response unit from the Nigerian army was assisting the search effort.

Anambra is among the 29 of Nigeria’s 36 states to have experienced heavy flooding this year. The waters have washed away homes, crops and roads and impacted at least half a million people.

Ogene said flooding had destroyed the major road linking the eight communities to the rest of the Ogbaru local government area, forcing residents to travel by boat.

Farmers say the rising waters will push food bills higher in a nation where millions have fallen into food poverty in the past two years.
