Renowned novelist and poet Zakes Mda, left many tweeps rolling on the floor with laughs when he took a jab at comedian Nina Hastie, for her drug addiction and for saying that, social media was not there when she struggled with her addiction.

Nina said she is grateful for being clean and sober for an impressive 6 years now. But she probably did not remember that Facebook was launched in 2004 and Twitter in 2006.

Zakes Mda

Zakes responded and said, maybe she might have been high because social media was already a thing during that time. Probably sis suffered from amnesia and we don’t blame her.

Zakes deleted the tweet and while some were expecting Nina to clap back, the artist spoke about Nina’s upcoming show like nothing had happened. Well, they are very tight-knit so that is the case. But tweeps reacted to their tweets with mixed reactions, some thought perhaps sis was just taking a jab at AKA who was accused of being high yesterday.

More pictures of Andy Muridzo and his newfound flame. Controversial musician Andy Muridzo has yet another lover in his life, and she is pregnant! Both the musician and his manager confirmed the development, promising to traditionally marry the beauty next month.

H-Metro’ s caught Muridzo with the new woman, Tasha Green, in a romantic moment in a car hours before his show at Muchakata Night Club in Kuwadzana 5. “Ndiye murora wenyu uyu (Zimbabwe), here is your daughter in law, she is called Tasha Green, she is coloured and does not speak Shona,” confessed Muridzo.

The dreadlocked musician, however, disputed claims that his lover is behind his trip to UK.
“No, I am being invited to UK by the promoters, this tour is not for shows, it is just a Meet And Greet, Barbeque chi-chi-chi- de-de-de-de, and listen, to all those willing to do their own controversies they must now know that, ‘the yellow born na my own, this yellow born na ma wife now, she is mine this yellow born’” he said before kissing her. His manager Onismos confirmed the latest development,

“Yes it is true that Andy Muridzo now has a girl of his age for marriage whom we are going to marry sometime around April 2020. Muridzo, after his affair with Nyari, said to us he was now settling down for a serious relationship with a girl of his age, who tolerates his profession’s ups and downs because music is like a cruising ship, waves visits it often, but it gets steady with time,” he said.

Andy

“Muridzo never slept with any girl after leaving Nyarai, but we do not talk, we do not comment on all flies that pass our tables. Often, we just look at these funny social media posts and proceed musically.

“After his affair with Nyarai, who is now a closed childish chapter, that was when he met and settled with Miss Green. Ndiye mukadzi wedu wezera redu uyu. “To show that Muridzo’s promise to get married to Green was true, Nyarai is about four months pregnant now, we have so far limited him to move around with his fiancé.

“Muridzo’s life style is no longer like kare kaye, he personally changed himself into a serious Muridzo, and we are also happy that we want to make our ever loyal following happy too by paying lobola in April because Andy said, ‘guys I want to a proper life now’,” said the manager.

Muridzo

“I think by April US$4000 Lobola in value must be paid up. I am just still not comfortable to publicly go about it because tinozoripiswa futi nana tezvara , remember we have not yet paid lobola yet,” said Onismos.

Buffalo Souljah drops video for Rihanna. Speaking on behalf of the chanter, his manager Kuma Phiri said they worked hard to produce the quality visuals of the single released on Valentine’s Day. Buffalo Souljah has released a video to his second single of 2020 titled Rihanna and it is trending on YouTube.

“The song was released on 14 February and we had to work hard to release the video and so it happens,” he said. Phiri said the song describes the type of woman every man dreams of and the video also reveals the same thing. “Rihanna describes the type of woman every man prefers, boss lady, lady on the streets and freaky woman,” he said.

The video carries the aspects of culture and Phiri alluded that it’s suitable to be watched in whole Africa. “The video is set to be played in Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa and Nigeria just to mention a few,” he said.

Phiri dismissed the critics on social media that there is competition this month as Jah Prayzah, Winky D and Baba Harare released videos and their songs are topping the charts in different radio stations and television.

“Not really, Buffalo Souljah markets expands to Africa and the world,” he said. Phir said he was also worried after Coronavirus disturbed the sporting calendar and entertainment events.

“Yes on outdoor we are disturbed but indoor it’s going to boosts streams and views as most people are going to be indoors,” he said. Buffalo Souljah only have two singles this year and according to Phiri, the South Africn based artiste is happy that the songs are boosting his career.

“Only two popular singles Chiraparapa,Rihanna featuring DJ Speedsta and Oneida featuring Buffalo Souljah and Winky D titled Ndidye Mari,” he said.

Boss Pumacol and Uncle Epaton in hot soup after ditching SA Chinese promoter. Chen claims to have come to an agreement with the trio for a fee of R13 000 for the three to perform at his bar and even gave paid them deposits via Mukuru.

A ChineseSouth Africa based promoter, Weinjan Chen, is at loggerheads with three Zim danchall chanters Uncle Epaton, Pumacol and Master H after they failed to turn up for a show last Saturday at his bar in Johannesburg.

H-Metro gleaned on the proof of payment Cheng claimed to have made. Cheng said he approached Pumacol on the deal who then said he will confirm with his counterparts.  However when asked about the issue, the artistes had a different version to the story.

The chanters claimed the promoter had initially made a poster without their consent and when they later agreed, he sent their deposit fees late. They also complained that Cheng wanted them to travel by bus which did not go well with their handlers. “Cheng was speaking to me and I told I will have to confirm with the other guys first.

“After that the other guys confirmed vakati dhiri bho but he sent to deposit money late.  “We got the money on Friday morning and that was the same day we were supposed to travel and this did not go well with the other guys.

“Personally, I told him could no longer make it because I had family commitments, I had made other plans because I was not sure whether he was going to send the money or not,” said Pumacol. He said he asked to return the deposit fee, which Cheng asked him to hand to another person.

Cheng confirmed getting a return from Pumacol only but complained it was not the full deposit fee he had sent him. “I sent Pumacol an equivalent of US$140 for deposit but he only returned US$70. “Uncle Epaton and Master H have just gone quiet.” In another interview Uncle Epaton, he said:

“I didn’t go for the show because the money he wanted to give us was little and he also wanted us to travel by bus. “My management was no okay with that arragment and they opted to send him back his money.”

Cheng said he had already reported the case with South African Police Services and wants the artistes to be banned entry into the country for any shows. “I have reported the matter, they are trying to crook me my money so I will also make sure they banned to hold shows here,” he said.

Somizi Mhlongo has used his creativity to change the lyrics of DJ Maphorisa’s hit song

When DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small did the lord’s work by dropping Emcimbini, which features Aymos, Samthing Soweto, Mas Musiq and Myztro, they couldn’t have foreseen that coronavirus would come along and basically need every lyric of the song changed!

Somizi did that tedious work on their behalf. The song is all about how amapiano is the reason we don’t sleep at home any more and we are always at events, parties and clubs. However, now that the president basically banned all parties and police minister Bheki Cele went and put a curfew on alcohol, the song is kind of null and void. That’s where Somizi comes in like superman to save the day – or in this case, the song.

As artists and creatives all over the world continue to use their gifts to entertain the largely under quarantine and/or isolation masses all over the world, Somizi’s 2.9 million fans also had a treat of their own.

Somizi

Instead of “Emcimbini kulaph’ ong’thola khona”, he sings “Ezibdlini kulaph’ ong’thola khona”. And in the place of “Eh! Piano asisalali emakhaya ngenxayakho”, he goes, “Corona Corona asisahambi ama club (party) ngenxa yakho. The media personality also used his platform to encourage everyone to do their part in terms of sharing the right information about the virus.

He asked people to do whatever they could to help and pleaded with celebrities and the government to go the extra mile in helping to curb the spread of the virus. The video had more than 130,000 views just 19 hours after he posted it.

Mdazibaba: I started sungura after Independence

Mdazibaba: I started Sungura after Independence. Zakaria, who was born on April 5 in 1956, told this publication that when he ventured into music in 1975, he was more of reggae and Simanje-Manje artiste. “When I ventured into music in 1975 I was more of a reggae artiste and I used to listen to Simanje-Manje music.

Sungura musician Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria says he likes raggae music more than sungura. The Khiama Boys founder said he is ready to record more of reggae songs if he gets support.

“Simanje-Manje music was from South Africa and I used to entertain people at farms which are close to Mazowe where I grew up. “I wasn’t taking music seriously, it was just a child’s play up until I discovered that I was charming people.

“I listened much to South African music but my spoken Ndebele or Zulu languages remained a big problem,” he said. The Mazano singer said he ventured into sungura after Zimbabwe attained its Independence in 1980.

“Sungura had more support so I decided to focus more on sungura because Simanje-Manje and reggae were not that popular. “When System Tazvida joined me after Independence we used to perform more of reggae songs.

“Our shows seemed half reggae and half sungura,” he said. He added: “Reggae up to this date, it has no much support but to me it’s still my favourite. “I make sure I drop one reggae song on each every album and I do the song in Chewa.

“I have done songs like Samalani which is on Mbuva Yeupenyu album, Siku from Ruvheneko album, Tizikumbukila which is on Inzwa Unzwe album and Kuthokoza (Tokundika here) among others. “If I get full support I can sing reggae only and even leave sungura for good.”

As Zimbabwe her celebrates 40 years of Independence on April 18, Madzibaba Zakaria said music before Independence was far much better. “Before Independence, music was far much better and a few years after Independence.

“After that, things deteriorated up to this day. “Back then we used to get little but it meant a lot to us,” he said. He also told this publication that after attaining Independence it brought social evils like piracy, bogus promoters and inflation among other undesirable traits.

“We are not enjoying music because of piracy and also the birth of bogus promoters.  “Some people are milking us in the name of shows. “We also cherish the fact that we are now independent and we now do things at our own pace,” he said.

Madzibaba Zakaria who has four children (three boys and a girl) also said music has taken him far. “I am a family man and I have four children who are supportive. “I now have grandchildren too.

“Music has taken me to another place and I want to thank everyone who support my works.” The veteran musician has 27 albums to his credit and he also said he is already in the studio working on a new project which will hit the market this year.

Catholic church to live stream Easter’s Mass

Catholic church to live stream Easter’s Mass. Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference (ZCBC) responded to the pandemic, which has come at a crucial time of the year the church celebrates Easter season which beforehand has Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday days attended in large numbers.

The Catholic Church in Zimbabwe will live stream Mass celebrations in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, which government has declared a national disaster. The Catholic Church in Zimbabwe has over 1.4 million members in Harare, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Mutare, Chinhoyi, Gweru, Gokwe and Hwange Dioceses across the country.

ZCBC Secretary General, Fr Frederick Chiromba confirmed to this publication that Catholics are set to follow live streaming of Mass through various social media platforms.

“The Bishops are only providing a special dispensation at this time in response to the pandemic. “We are still working on a revised program for Easter, in line with the declaration of the President and most Dioceses are still consulting,” he said.

Asked on the marginalized members who cannot have access to live streaming of Mass, Fr Chiromba said: “The catholic church has very active Small Christian Communities (SCC) in the rural areas.

“They too have mechanisms for bible sharing and worship, which they can fully utilize at this time, without being dependent on technology.” In a statement published by the ZCBS, the bishops cited that members should not feel guilty for failure to attend Sunday Mass as obliged following the pandemic declared a state of national disaster.

“The Sunday obligation to attend Mass for the elderly, children, the sick and the vulnerable has been lifted until further notice. “Where possible, the vulnerable faithful are encouraged to follow live streaming of Mass through various media of social communications.

“The current situation offers us an opportunity for us to renew our appreciation of prayer at home and in private. “All blessing by placing of hands must be suspended. “Sign of peace during the holy Mass has been suspended. “Reception the holy communion must only be on the hand, not on the mouth.

“All faithful are encouraged to wash their hands with soap or use hand sanitizers as frequently as possible,” said the Bishops. “The fact that a live stream is actually live brings a human element to it and it creates a relationship with viewers.

“There is genuine interaction that live streaming allows, supporting the statement that ‘the church is universal. “Catholics should still remember to keep the Sabbath holy even though there may be no chance to physically attend Mass.

“This uncertain time of suspended Masses and decreased physical access to the sacraments will help Catholics enter into deeper solidarity with those around the world who still lack access to regular Masses, either because of the remoteness of where they live or due to a shortage of priests.

“They must set aside time on Sunday or Saturday evening to go through the readings for the day and pray together as a family, or if they don’t have others living with them, to pray on their own,” explained Fr Mashayamombe.

Part of the statement issued by ZCBC reads: “In the wake of the global outbreak of Covid-19, we wish to add our voices to the many other voices, including WHO, our own government and, in particular, the president and Ministry of Health, on the pandemic.

“ZCBC fully supports the various calls to take serious and drastic measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.”

Prophet Passion Java invades the Hip-hop industry. Flex J recently dropped his new project Jemedza which he featured Rockford “Roki” Josphat. The Marondera based artiste was encouraged by Prophet Passion to continue supporting initiatives to do with children.

Prophet Passion Java has endorsed rapper Felix ‘Flexi J’ Juru’s drive to raise awareness against child abuse in society.

“Following the song Jemedza, I met Prophet Passion whilst at Star FM who endorsed my song Jemedza, and promised to support me. “He listened to Jemedza and saw it necessary to discourage child abuse by perpetrators.

“He is prepared to support me on such initiatives,” he said. The song Jemedza is a project to urged societies to be wary of child abuse.

“Child abuse is very destructive, so terrible and inevitable to ignore, so it’s something that causes an outcry. “That’s when the title sheds light where the abused are crying aloud and I am the voice for the voiceless.

“Child abuse is very rampant in our communities and I did the song with Roki because he is one of the few artists I know who really puts emotions on a theme especially like this one and it ends up connecting with the listener to an extent that the song can really change the world, which is my goal.” “My mother, Maria Warinda has also been a pillar of strength in everything I do.

“She supports me all the time.” The musician unfortunately last week lost valuables to thieves. “We parked at OK supermarket and I was in the company of my mother.

“The thieves took advantage of our absence and destroyed the window before they took valuables, including cell phones, money and some clothes. “The matter has since been taken to court after the assailants were arrested. “Takabirwa titori mushop so when we got out that’s when we discovered the mishap.”

Gogo burnt to death as villagers cheer up. A gruesome video showing a gogo being burnt to death has surfaced online. Cries and pleas for mercy could not stop the bloodthirsty villagers from burning the 83-year-old gogo alive.

The incident has left the entire nation in shock after the video went viral. The gogo was identified as Nosayinethu Manundu, from Majuba Village outside Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape.

According to the video footage that is doing the rounds, gogo was burnt to her death after she was accused of being responsible for the death of a 23-year-old man called Samkelo Manunu. The attack on gogo happened a day after Samkelo’s burial.

Cultural expert, Mtimande Ngcwenya and other traditional leaders have called on people to stop accusing others of being evil and hurting them. “This is wrong and disgusting. Where is ubuntu? What proof do you have that they are really evil?” said Ngcwenya.

Prior to being burnt to death, gogo Manundu was allegedly drowned in a drum of water in an attempt to kill her but this did not work. This led to the villagers to burnt her in her rondavel instead.

Several men can be seen calmly pushing her into the burning rondavel. She crawls out and begs for mercy. The person behind the camera can be heard saying: “Hurry, the fire is dying”. Her 23-year-old granddaughter, escaped death by a whisker as she managed to escape when the crowd doused their house with paraffin. She is currently under police protection.

National police spokeswoman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said four men had been arrested and charged with assault, arson, murder and attempted murder. “If they have seen someone doing something wrong, they must open a case of intimidation with the police who will investigate. Taking the law into your own hands is not the right thing to do.”

Due to the graphic nature of the video, iHarare is unable to publish it on our family-friendly site.

Here is how you can differentiate a common cold from Coronavirus

Here is how you can differentiate a common cold from Coronavirus. As coronavirus continues to spread around the world with nearly 200,000 people known to be infected and more than 7,900 deaths recorded worldwide, it is important to educate yourself on the signs and symptoms of the virus.

Members of the public are now being warned to look out for a persistent Coronavirus dry cough – one of the key symptoms of Covid-19 – but how can you tell it apart from a common cold?

Coronavirus

Due to the virus breaking out during cold and flu season, it’s hard to tell if you have Covid-19 or just a normal bug.

What is a dry persistent cough?
World Health Organization research citings show that the type of cough a patient is experiencing could be a good indicator of their illness. And a dry persistent cough is a ‘classic’ symptom of coronavirus, according to Dr Caudle, a family physician and associate professor at Rowan University

1. A Coronavirus dry cough is just that -dry – there is no phlegm or mucus present that is typically found in a wet cough. The NHS describes a “dry cough” as a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced, which is also irritating and usually associated with a tickly throat.
2. New for you (or different from your normal cough if, for instance, you have a ‘smoker’s cough’)
3. Persistent – not just because you’re clearing your throat or because you have something caught in your throat.
4. It needs to last for at least half a day
5. A dry (rather than ‘fruity’ cough is more likely to be due to coronavirus, but you need to self-isolate regardless of whether your cough is dry or productive.

We urge anyone who feels they may be symptomatic of the coronavirus to reach out to a doctor or alternatively if you are in koBulawayo, Bulawayo City Council has a specialised ambulance and crew, just call: Mobile: 0292271717 up to 9 or Landline: 993/994.

Drama as cop flees for life after thug takes revenge for arrest. iHarare has established through the B-Metro, that Prince Siziba (23) brutally assaulted the law enforcer, Gratitude Muritika (25) for arresting him last year over an undisclosed crime.

There was drama in the city after a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer was assaulted by a disgruntled thug for allegedly instigating his arrest last year. Bystanders were left in stitches after the law enforcement officer fled for his dear life with the hoodlum in hot pursuit.

The incident occurred along 6th Avenue where Siziba bumped into the law enforcer and executed his revenge. Siziba, who is alleged to have been drunk reportedly charged at the unsuspecting officer soon after spotting him. Touts and vendors gathered around the pair while some people whistled at the spectacle. Being spurred on by the crowd Siziba landed a fist on the hapless police officer while the agitated crowd cheered on.

Gratitude managed to escape from Siziba’s volleys and ran for his dear life while holding his hat in his hand. Siziba followed in hot pursuit.

Gratitude exhibited his athletic skills as he outpaced him and ran to Mzilikazi Police Station. He made a report of assault at the station leading to the arrest of Siziba.  Appearing before Bulawayo magistrate Amanda Ndlovu facing an assault charge, Siziba pleaded guilty.

‘ Your Worship, I’m sorry, I was too drunk on that particular day and I can’t clearly remember how I beat this police officer. Kindly forgive me I’m the breadwinner if I go to jail my siblings will suffer’, said Siziba. The magistrate remanded him out of custody to next week on Tuesday for sentencing.
