Winky D proves critics wrong with a stellar performance at #GaraMumba online concert: Vids. Winky D has been a subject of criticism bad and negative in his life and recently a lot of shade has been thrown towards him. He has been accused of being selfish and not helping fellow artist in the Zimbabwe music industry.

Comedian RayVines was one of the recent celebrities who attacked Winky D for not helping and promoting young upcoming artists in the country. And also Wonky D has been slammed for not being seeing helping people be it, singers or ordinary citizens.

This came after pictures of fellow chanter Killer T circulated on social media helping elderly people in Mbare who have been affected by the current lockdown which was imposed by the government to help curb the deadly disease COVID-19 which has killed thousands of people in the world.

This, however, did not go well with Winky D’s loyal fans who came out guns blazing at all those who were accusing the Gafa of not helping. He, however, the artist has never issued a word about all these accusations. He continues to be professional and keep focusing on his music.

Last night he proved his critics that he is still the King of Zimdancehall after pulling a stellar performance which will spark another debate and controversy on social media. To many, he has proved to be the King and the Legend he is. He lived up to the much-hyped build-up that was surrounded by the #Garamumbaiwe concert. Check the videos below…

MDC VP Ncube promises a strong response over Chamisa MPs recall

MDC VP Ncube promises a strong response over Chamisa MPs recall. Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda announced MDC Alliance MPs Charlton Hwende, Thabitha Khumalo, Prosper Mutseyami and Senator Lilian Timveous were recalled through a letter by Douglas Mwonzora, who says he has reprised his role as secretary-general of the party following a court ruling in late March.

MDC Alliance deputy president Welshman Ncube says they anticipated the recalling of four of the party’s lawmakers from parliament on Tuesday, which he says is a state-orchestrated programme to destabilise and weaken the party.

The Supreme Court ruled that Nelson Chamisa had taken leadership of the MDC-T party in February 2018, before forming the MDC Alliance, in a “fundamentally flawed process.”

The court ordered that Thokozani Khupe, who participated in elections in July 2018 as leader of the MDC-T, should take over on an interim basis pending a congress within three months to elect a new leader.

Khupe, backed by Mwonzora and Morgen Komichi, has found resistance from Chamisa and his MDC Alliance lieutenants who say the court ruling relates to the MDC-T party which Khupe already leads, and not the MDC Alliance.

“It was important that they throw the dice first,” Ncube said, reacting to the move to recall the four lawmakers who are the MDC Alliance’s main leaders in Parliament.

“Everything is a choreographed from the courts to the Speaker of Parliament. We had no expectation of anything better. We said what the plan was before the court delivered its judgement. We said they will continue to play this game. They have their game plan, watch the space and see if we will play their game.”

Ncube said they did not accept the withdrawal of the whip from the MPs. Their obvious options include going back to court to challenge their recall, accepting Khupe’s leadership and participating in a congress or going for by-elections.

The law professor said there was “very little appetite” for any of those options currently in the MDC Alliance. “We won’t take it lying down. In the next few days, you will know what we will do and it will be a strong response. The organs of the party will make the decisions. People have seen what has happened.”

Ncube says Khupe’s camp has relied on dubious judicial decisions and a state apparatus only too keen to aid the takeover of the MDC Alliance. He told ZimLive: “What’s happening is not a legal matter but a political issue, and it must be understood as such. People must disabuse themselves of the notion that this is legal, otherwise we wouldn’t be here.

“The law is clear, and has always been clear that you are recalled by the party under which you were elected. The candidates were fielded by MDC-Alliance which was in competition with MDC-T. So no, this has nothing to do with the law.

“Which judgement gave anyone authority to recall MDC Alliance MPs? Which party is controlled by a single individual? Parties are controlled institutionally. Where in the world have three people (Khupe, Mwonzora, Komichi) controlled a party?

“So, it’s not a legal issue. Since the judgement, has the national council or the standing committee met? Thabitha Khumalo was deputy spokesperson under the structure that the other side wants to say is the court recognised leadership. I can tell you that Khumalo has not been invited to any meeting where a decision to recall our MPs was taken.”

Khupe and her allies have written to the police seeking assistance to occupy the MDC Alliance’s HQ in central Harare. Mwonzora says in a letter to the police that they need to convene meetings of the party’s structures to prepare for the court-ordered congress, but fear they will meet resistance from Chamisa loyalists.

Ncube says Khupe has no quorum in any party structure, and the recall of the MPs was designed to instil fear in the party’s remaining 60 MPs, Senators and councillors.

“What you have is a political programme of Zanu PF to basically take control of the MDC Alliance. Khupe, Mwonzora and Komichi have carefully selected our senior people in parliament. They have basically thrown the dice to say the rest of you who are junior to these people, we can get rid of you too if you don’t associate with our plans,” said Ncube.

Zimbabwean e-Hailing taxi driver shot dead in South Africa

Zimbabwean e-Hailing taxi driver shot dead in South Africa. The owner of the vehicle, who wanted to remain anonymous, says the deceased was a Zimbabwean national and had no family in South Africa.

A 27-year-old e-hailing taxi driver was shot and killed in Khayelitsha. The driver was picking up a customer in Site C on Sunday when the incident happened. “He was a hard worker and was supporting his family back home from the earnings,” the woman explained.

She says attacks on e-hailing drivers are increasing. “Our drivers are attacked in places like Khayelitsha, Nyanga, KTC and Philippi. People request rides only to rob them.

“It is heartbreaking for a man this young to die like this.” Other drivers have since warned each other to stay away from “red zones” and stop accepting requests from these areas.

But the taxi owner says this would be difficult: “Accounts are suspended if you do not accept a request even if it is from a dangerous area. If your account is suspended, you cannot work.”

Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says a case of murder was opened and no arrests have been made. She says upon arrival at the scene, officers “found the deceased inside a Nissan Almera with a gunshot wound to his body.” “The victim died of his injuries.”

Ayanda Borotho to help out those in need during Covid-19 pandemic

Actress Ayanda Borotho is on a mission to help the needy who have been hard hit during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Isibaya actress shared her efforts to help out foreign nationals during an interview with eNCA which she shared on Instagram.

“A group of friends and myself decided that we should get together to see how we can lend a hand in this time … especially to those who weren’t discovered and were not getting food parcels. This is because they were foreign nationals who didn’t have access to SA IDs … so yeah, we put our muscles together.

Ayanda said she wasn’t aware at first that there were so many people in need of food.
It’s been eye-opening to see the number of people in our country who are desperate for food is just unbelievable, it is something that I have not seen on the scale that I have seen it on … but it’s also heartbreaking.

Ayanda Borotho

“It’s heartbreaking to know that even the government does come to help to assist, you have people who come for second food parcels when other people have not received anything like grannies and grandfathers who are stuck at home who aren’t able to walk and stand in long queues to get their food parcels.” Last week the actress shared a call to action for South Africans, as the country continues the fight against the coronavirus.

Ayanda encouraged her followers on Instagram to step up and take care of their own instead of waiting for the government to step in. She explained that the government was trying but won’t be able to help everybody during this difficult time.

“The truth of the matter is, the government does not have the capacity to help everybody who needs help at this time. It’s not possible. The majority of South Africans live below the poverty line. The people who live in poverty, in real dire poverty, are in excess of 40 million in this country and that’s just a fact. I don’t know if the government — with the resources that they have — will really be able to help everyone at this time,” she said.

Amid the continuous debate over whether artists should own their craft, rapper Cassper Nyovest has revealed that he is still 100% independent and self-funded. The rapper set the record straight after a follower thought his album Thuto was such a “masterpiece” because Cass was a free agent and not owned by any music record label.

Cassper responded by saying he owned and directed 100% of his craft, but wouldn’t spill all the tea because his industry mates “would be mad” at him. I’m still indi bro. In a joint venture partnership with UMD. Still own and direct 100%. Would break it down but half of the game would be mad. I am still signed understand myself and I still fund myself. Every cent Universal uses gets paid back by me, not by taking ownership of anything.

Cassper Nyovest

Though many of his stans called on him to make a thread to teach other artists how they too can become a success in the music game, Cassper rubbished the idea saying “Twitter was not a place of teaching but for fun and games”.

“I would love to but Twitter is not the place for teaching. Here it’s all fun and games. They just wanna laugh and make fun of successful people. I was actually planning a music workshop before lockdown where I can filter the idiots and engage with people who wanna learn from me.

Two months ago, Maphorisa got the block hot after he made an example about owning the masters to his music, alleging that Prince Kaybee, Lady Zamar and Mafikizolo didn’t.

Not one to take things lying down, Kaybee hit back at Maphorisa with a list of businesses that he owned and suggested that Maphorisa could’ve made his point without dropping any names. However, after a weeklong twar with Lawd Porry, Kaybee revealed to TshisaLIVE that he held no grudge against Maphorisa.

Chamisa’s MPs to boycott Parliament

Chamisa’s MPs to boycott Parliament. Alliance deputy national spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka made the revelations following a hastily arranged crisis meeting by the Nelson Chamisa led opposition outfit in Harare Wednesday.

MDC Alliance MPs will no longer participate in any parliamentary business in protest over Tuesday’s shock recall of four legislators who are also senior party officials by reinstated MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora.

Commenting after the meeting, Tamborinyoka was adamant the party’s legal position was that it was only MDC Alliance that could recall its MPs from Parliament.

“All MDC Alliance MPs will not participate in Parliament and all it’s business. The known legal position is that only the MDC Alliance that can recall or withdraw its own MPs from Parliament. Now another parent is withdrawing someone else’s child from school,” he said.

The crisis meeting chaired by Chamisa follows the expulsion of the MPs by Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda after Mwonzora had written to him seeking their recall.

The affected legislators are; secretary-general and Kuwadzana East MP, Chalton Hwende; House of Assembly chief whip and Dangamvura/Chikanga MP, Prosper Mutseyami; party national chairperson, Tabitha Khumalo and Senate chief whip, Lilian Timveous.

Commenting after the meeting, Chamisa said the party had come up with key resolutions and action points that will be released by Job Sikhala, the party’s deputy national chairperson.

“Just been chairing a long MDC Alliance National Standing Committee Zoom meeting. We came up with key resolutions and action points to be released by the party’s deputy national chairperson Hon. Job Sikhala. Whatever the case, the die is cast! Victory and freedom to our motherland!,” Chamisa wrote on Twitter.

Zimra deport raided by armed robbers

Zimra deport raided by armed robbers. The stolen goods believed to have been smuggled from South Africa were confiscated by Zimra on Tuesday and the gang struck at the depot on the same day at around 7.30 PM. The suspects were armed with an FN rifle and they threatened to shoot the security guards who were manning the premises in the event that they raised alarm before tying their hands using a rope.

Daring armed robbers raided a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) container depot in Bulawayo and went away with a consignment of 148 boxes of Broncleer, a cough mixture which was banned over abuse as a euphoric drug. The total value of the contraband, which includes four cases of gin, is about US$20 000.

The suspects whose exact number could not ascertain used bolt cutters to destroy the locks at the main gate to access the premises. They found four security guards and ordered them to lie down at gunpoint before they tied them and offloaded the impounded goods from the truck.

The contraband, which was concealed under a consignment of groceries, was being transported to Bulawayo in a haulage truck when it was intercepted by police in Esigodini. The truck was seized and taken to the Zimra container depot at Raylton Industrial Area in Bulawayo.

When a news crew visited the depot yesterday, police had been deployed to beef up security. The empty truck, which had been carrying the stolen goods was also parked at the yard. Sources said the suspects were travelling in a Toyota Quantum which had no number plates.

“They tied up four security guards and offloaded 144 boxes of bronco (Broncleer) and four boxes of Gordon’s Gin from the impounded truck before they drove off at high speed,” said the source.

Sources said when the truck was intercepted at a roadblock in Esigodini, the driver tried to bribe a police officer so that he could be allowed to pass through without being searched. The police officer was, however, adamant and demanded to search the truck leading to the discovery of the illicit drugs and he immediately alerted Zimra officials in Bulawayo.

It has been established that the suspects had been monitoring the truck between Esigodini and Bulawayo while it was being escorted to the Zimra container depot with the intention of hijacking it.

“After failing to hijack the truck, that is when they decided to raid the Zimra container depot at night. It appears that these robbers knew what the truck was carrying,” said the sources. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said no arrests had been made.

“I can confirm that we had a robbery case which occurred at the Zimra container depot in Bulawayo last night (Tuesday night) where security guards manning the premises were attacked by a group of robbers. The suspects used bolt cutters to destroy the locking system at the main entrance before they drove in,” he said.

Asst Comm Nyathi said two suspects who were armed with iron bars and bolt cutters emerged first from the Toyota Quantum and confronted the security guards. He said they were later joined by their accomplices and they offloaded the loot from the impounded truck.

“Initially, it is these two suspects who confronted the security guards and later on the kombi drove into the premises and it could not be established how many others were inside the vehicle. They loaded some illicit goods which were in a truck that had been impounded with smuggled goods, which included 144 boxes of Broncleer and four boxes containing bottles of Gordon’s Gin,” said Ass Comm Nyathi said.

He said the suspects sped off. “We are investigating and we are also appealing for information from members of the public so that we establish some links. According to our preliminary investigations, the two suspects were part of a gang of robbers and as police we would like to assure the public that people who are engaging in any form of criminality will be accounted for,” said the police spokesperson.

Meanwhile, police in Beitbridge from the anti-corruption unit on Monday intercepted two vehicles, a Toyota Granvia and a Nissan Caravan near Panda Mine along the Limpopo River carrying smuggled groceries and arrested three suspects. The value of the goods, which included soap, sugar, cooking oil, rice, flour and lotion was not stated.

“Three suspects were arrested in connection with the case. Investigations conducted so far revealed that one of the vehicles, a Toyota Granvia did not have a customs clearance certificate,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

He said they also arrested a Kwekwe truck driver on the same day at a roadblock in the border town for smuggling groceries from South Africa through Beitbridge Border Post. The driver had abandoned the truck near GMB depot and fled before he was arrested. The truck was impounded by Zimra.

Man found with 32 IDs and 70 court papers

Man found with 32 IDs and 70 court papers. Thulani Ncube is being charged with 70 counts of being found in possession of articles used to commit the crime. Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube in an interview yesterday, said Ncube was assisting police in the Commercial Crimes Division with investigations as he had over 70 pending High Court applications involving a number of properties in the city.

A Bulawayo man suspected to be part of a syndicate that is fraudulently selling people’s houses was found with 32 national identity cards which he is suspected to have been using to illegally process property sales.

“A man purporting to be Thulani Ncube around 40 years of age was arrested by police when he was found in possession of over 32 national identity documents belonging to various people who are property owners. This man was making some applications for houses. He would either obtain illegal identity documents, forge signatures and particulars in respect of the houses that he would target for sale to unsuspecting home seekers,” said Inspector Ncube.

Thulani Ncube Ncube would allegedly approach the High Court for eviction orders so that he would make occupants vacate premises that he would have earmarked for sale. He targeted properties whose owners are in the diaspora, especially where tenants do not know the owner of the house and rental payments are made to relatives or put in bank accounts.

“He would make applications to the High Court and pay fees of up to $50 so that he gets the application to evict the occupants of the houses. He has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations. We are calling upon members of the public to come to CID Commercial Crimes Division to check on those IDs and if ever you see one that is yours, we work on the issues,” Inspector Ncube said.

“This also goes to property owners as there are a number of properties that have been listed as having been sold by fictitious people who do not even exist. They use stolen IDs to process the transactions.”

Inspector Ncube said the Commercial Crimes Division was looking into how Ncube may have been acquiring the IDs after noticing that most of them looked new.

“We are still investing how he actually got those IDs because some look fairly new, indicating that he may be writing some affidavits or obtaining in his own name some of the IDs, and is targeting only those who own properties that he envies. Investigations are in progress,” said Inspector Ncube.

An online search showed the suspect uses the name Thulani Ncube on Facebook. There was only one picture and very few posts.

Media mogul Basetsana Kumalo got emotional as she reflected on that horrible fall in 2016 after she managed to overcome personal fear. In March 2016, Bassie accidentally fell and broke her ankle on both sides, plus dislocated it in the process. In addition to the indescribable pain she endured, Bassie was immobile for a while after the accident and was never able to run like she used to before the accident.

“Today I broke a barrier physically, mentally and psychologically. Today I confronted my fear and challenged myself to do what I have been afraid to do, run 10km,” she said. The media mogul said she felt it important to share her testimony and to let people know that “faith can move mountains”.

Romeo and Basetsana Kumalo

“When I slipped and fell (oh I wasn’t even wearing 6 inches, just a court shoe) I landed on the back of my head and got concussed, lost consciousness and regained it. I then tried to stand up after the fracture and that’s when I dislocated my ankle and it was dangling out of my socket. Now to hear your bones breaking multiple times is a pain I can never be able to put into words, the most grotesque and diabolical sound and pain.”

Listen to Basetsana share what has brought her to this personal milestone and how much it means to her in the videos below.

Teenage Hadebe likely to be the first International-based Warrior back in action

Teenage Hadebe likely to be the first International-based Warrior back in action. The 24-year-old defender plays for Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig, which was one of the last major European leagues to freeze their programme in March this year, under pressure from the International Federation of Professional Footballers.

Teenage Hadebe is likely to be the first Euro-based Warrior to return to action when the game resumes in Turkey after being halted by the COVID-19 outbreak three months ago. All the matches are set to be played behind closed doors.

The break came under a cloud of controversy on March 19, just a few days after former Nigerian skipper, John Obi Mikel, was forced to terminate his contract with league leaders Trabzonspor, when he raised concerns about continuing to play football amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

A few days later, Turkish football authorities announced the suspension of all competitive football in the country. Hadebe, who played for the Warriors at the last AFCON finals in Egypt, missed his team’s final three matches in March, just before the league was halted, because of suspension.

A red card meant he was ineligible to play in the matches against Kayserispor, Trabzonspor and Konyaspor. His last match had come on March 1 when he played for 45 minutes in the 0-2 defeat at the hands of Denizlispor.

But, in the event the Turkish Super Lig resumes on June 12, as announced yesterday, the Zimbabwe international defender will be eligible to feature for his team again.

Turkish Football Federation president, Nihat Özdemir, announced yesterday that they had set June 12 as the date for the resumption of competitive football in the country.

He told reporters, following a four-hour meeting with top football officials and executives, that the Turkish Super Lig, and the immediate lower leagues in that country, will resume in June and end the following month on July 26.

The finer details of how the matches will be played, said Ozdemir, will be decided after a meeting between the country’s football leadership and Turkey’s Coronavirus Science Board.

“For now, we decided to start Turkish football leagues, which were previously suspended (due to coronavirus), such as the Super Lig, first, second, third divisions and amateur leagues in the week of June 12, 13 and 14,” Ozdemir said in a video conference. “Following the joint works of the Health Ministry and scientific board, they will decide how the games will be played.

“God willing, we will complete our own leagues at the end of July. We will hand over our cups on the pitch and then we will cap the season off by hosting the UEFA Champions League final in August.’’ The schedule, according to reports, will feature seven weekend games and one weekday match.

The teams will play their matches in their own cities and stadiums, Ozdemir said, adding no consideration had been given to playing matches in a single city. In the event the Turkish Super Lig resumes, Hadebe and his teammates have a mountain to climb to try and avoid relegation after a poor run this year.

Yeni Malatyaspor have 25 points, the same as the team which occupies the final relegation slot, Rizespor, and only two points better than Akaragucu, who are second from the bottom of the table. Kayserispor anchor the table on 22 points. Hadebe and his team last tasted victory in the Turkish Super Lig on December 12, last year, after a surprise 2-0 away win over Besiktas.

Since then, they have lost 12 and drawn two matches in all competitions. The losses include 10 out of their last 11 league matches, with the other one having ended in a draw against Konyaspor.

There has been speculation, football could resume in Turkey, after the country’s leading clubs — Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Trabzonspor, announced they would be resuming training sessions this week.

The developments also follow reports revealing players from Barcelona, Real Madrid and other top clubs in the Spanish La Liga have been arriving for medical tests and to start preparing for the return to training this week. The players will initially train individually as La Liga officials want a training period of about a month before they can restart the league in empty stadiums.

Meanwhile, there are still major complications in England, where Marvelous Nakamba plays, with Aston Villa yesterday joining Brighton and West Ham in opposing the idea of completing the Premiership season at neutral venues.

Club chief executive, Christian Purslow, urged other clubs not to support measures which he claimed increased the risk of the “£200 million catastrophe” which relegation would bring to those fighting to remain in the top-flight league.

“Personally I’m against it,” Purslow said on Talksport. “We’re a club that prides itself on home form. Two-thirds of our wins this season have come at home.

“We’ve got six home games left to play and I think any Villa fan would agree that giving up that advantage is a massive decision for somebody running Aston Villa and I certainly wouldn’t agree to that unless those circumstances are right.

“When you say to any club, “we want you to agree to a bunch of rule changes that may make it more likely that you get relegated,” they’re not thinking about TV money, they’re thinking, “my goodness, am I going to agree to something that results in me being relegated and losing £200 million?”

Khama Billiat grew up in Mufakose, a suburb in Harare. His uncle Maxwell Cheche Billiat starred for Caps United and Warriors. The defensive midfielder became a role model for the young talent.

His parents are Rosa and Mustafo Billiat. His father also played for Caps United, but he never really made it to the first team. Khama would later on do exactly that.

While growing up, he often went to watch Caps United play. Khama’s favourite was the attacking midfielder/winger Alois Bunjira, who went on to play in South Africa for clubs like Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns. “He played in the same positions as me,” Billiat explains his choice.

Billiat joined the Aces Youth Soccer Academy when still only 10-years-old. He was joined about five years later by Knowledge Musona, who would go on to play for Kaizer Chiefs. Knowledge and Khama became good friends.

Khama Billiat

While with Ajax Cape Town, Billiat starred in a friendly against Manchester United in 2012. His opponent was Rio Ferdidand. Khama kept the lanky defenders on his toes throughout the game, getting compliments afterwards for his performance from none other than Alex Ferguson.

Khama and his partner Esnath Munyedawo met in church. They have a 7-year-old daughter, Kimberly. The speedy winger has quite a few tattoos. His favourite is the name of his daughter on his left arm.

He likes to be on his PlayStation when having some spare time, usually FIFA 18. The team he plays with are usually Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Khama loves going out for dinner and occasionally goes to watch a movie. Khama admires Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar. “I don’t want to single one out as the best,” he says. “they are all number one.

He loves to pray, especially before a game – in the bus, while leaving the bus, in the dressing room and before the game kicks off on the pitch. “I ask God for protection.

The Gauteng department of sports, arts, culture & recreation has distanced itself from what it calls “a fake” information posted on social media by the king of kwaito Arthur Mafokate.

In a poster two weeks ago, Mafokate called on creatives to submit their names to benefit from food parcels’ donation by the department.

Mafokate used the department’s logo and stated that it was partnering with his Lockdown FM and his foundation on the food parcel drive.

Arthur Mafokate

But now the department has vehemently denied that it was involved in any donation of food parcels, saying the department of social development was the one mandated to provide food relief for the needy and destitute in line with its criteria.

The Mafokate poster read: “Lockdown FM and Arthur Mafokate Foundation together with the Gauteng province department of sports, arts, culture & recreation will distribute food parcels in Gauteng during the Covid-19 lockdown period, please if in need and you are in the Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation fraternity submit your names to the details below.”

When questioned about the poster, Mafokate said: “I did what I was told to do, to submit names of people who emailed the department because they will be doing the deliveries of donations. But if there is someone who says… the poster is fake, send me that information, and I will contact Mbali [MEC Mbali Hlophe] myself.”

Arthur Mafokate

Hlophe’s spokesperson Ofentse Mogotsi said the department became aware of the poster which was giving the impression that Mafokate had been asked by the department to distribute food last week.

“He was requested to remove the poster as it would be false advertising. It was further stated to him that the department has no such mandate, as the distribution of food aid within the province is conducted through social development.”

Mogotsi said Hlophe would not lay any charges as Mafokate has removed the poster.

America speaks on World Bank’s money donated to Zimbabwe

America speaks on World Bank’s money donated to Zimbabwe. On Wednesday the World Bank Spokesperson said they will grant $7 million to Zimbabwe to help it fight the new coronavirus pandemic that is expected to worsen an already struggling economy and food crisis.

The United States Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) says the money donated to Zimbabwe by the World Bank should follow strict rules of accountability to avoid it being looted by government officials.

“The $7M World Bank grant for Zimbabwe reported today should come with strict transparency and accountability measures to ensure Zimbabweans receive services and support during #COVID19, and that these funds aren’t lost to ongoing mismanagement by the Zimbabwean govt.” Sen. Risch said.

Shadowy investigative group Team Pachedu urged the global body not to give money in cash to Mnangagwa’s government.

“It will be a huge mistake if the WB is sending the money as cash. The government is very corrupt and will be looted. Any effort aimed at assisting Zimbabweans must not be through the government, but through independent development agencies who will do all the procurement.”

18 crossborder Zimbabweans caught by state security trying to sneak into the country. Confirming the matter Secretary for Information Nick Mangwana said, “Security in Masvingo intercepted 18 Zimbabweans who got in the country through designated crossing points with SA.

Zimbabwe security nabbed 18 people who sneaked into the country from South Africa through crossing illegal entry points. The citizens are said to have committed the crime because they feared being subjected to mandatory quarantine days.

There are 10 men, 6 women and 2 children. Social Welfare has organised a bus for them to be taken to Rupangwana Quarantine Centre in Chiredzi.” Mnangagwa’s government recently reduced the mandatory quarantine period for possible coronavirus cases by one-half.

The government said it lacks the resources to take care of patients in isolation for the two-week period recommended by the World Health Organization. Health Minister Obediah Moyo told journalists that Harare does not have the resources to continue following the two-week quarantine period for people entering the country.

Speaking at a news conference streamed on social media, Moyo said the Cabinet decided to reduce the quarantine period to seven days. “And if they are found to be positive they will be sent to an isolation centre. And if they are found to be negative they will be released. It decongests the facilities,” said Moyo.
