Peter Moyo engages with longtime girlfriend Caroline Makamache: Pic. They have been through a lot together and lately, things have been awesome for the cute couple as we saw them spoiling each other with gifts and what not. The young couple has been through a lot facing major backlash whenever they treated each other with presents.

At one point Peter Moyo had pictures of him n@ked with women circulate on social media in an effort to tarnish his image and force a break-up between the two. Peter Moyo’s fiancée Caroline Makamache has come out open saying she will not lose sleep over ‘silly pictures’ of the singer with different girls circulating on social media.

Pictures of the late sungura legend Tongai Moyo’s son have gone viral as he features on different pictures with different women. One of the pictures has a lady who is alleged to be pregnant for Peter Moyo. I’m not moved really at all; my relationship cannot be dictated by social media and what bitter people post.

“I have been mentally ready for this kind of things right from the beginning of the relationship so, we will be okay. For him going public with our relationship means he wants to commit, but there are so many people trying to destroy this relationship and it will not work simple,” said Caroline. Peter’s fiancé who came to picture after she bought Peter a car on his birthday said she loves Peter and she will not be moved.

But they have soldiers on and they are even doing it better and in style. The two have updated their Facebook status to engaged as they keep shining and drunk in love with each other. Check the picture below

President Mnangagwa mourns national heroes Nleya and Sadza. A renowned medical doctor and former Zimpapers and Zimbabwe Mass Media Trust chair, Dr Sadza died on June 11, while national hero Cde Nleya lost his battle against a heart condition on June 16.

President Mnangagwa has sent condolence messages to the Nleya and Sadza families following the death of two great sons of the soil — Cde Stanley Nleya (72) and Dr Davison Sadza (91) — last week.

The President yesterday said Cde Nleya’s death left a huge void in society as he was among the first liberation warfighters to receive military training. “Cde Nleya’s place and contribution to the national struggle is well recorded and will be remembered and celebrated beyond his sad and untimely departure,” said President Mnangagwa.

“Many within our current command element, including our Commander Defence Forces, General Philip Valerio Sibanda, went through the hands of this outstanding liberation fighter whose characteristically selfless active service to our nation continued well into our independence, including the early, heady days of demobilisation and integration exercises,” he said.

Due to his excellence, Cde Mnangagwa added, Cde Nleya was elevated to the ZIPRA High Command during the liberation struggle. He was also appointed to various command roles in the integrated Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) after independence.

“Indeed this is our loss together and one which our deeply grateful nation modestly repays and commemorates by according him national hero status and by resting him at the National Shrine (National Heroes Acre) we reserve for the best and most deserving sons and daughters of our nation,” said the President.

Cde Nleya will be buried at the National Heroes Acre in the capital on Tuesday. On Dr Sadza, President Mnangagwa described him as a humble, soft-spoken and truly professional medical officer.

He said Dr Sadza played a critical role in offering medical assistance to the injured during the liberation struggle and in shaping the National Health Policy.

“His role in the medical field apart, Dr Sadza for a long time chaired the Zimbabwe Mass Media Trust Board during which time he actively shaped our media industry and Government investments therein. He inculcated a strong sense of patriotism among our journalists.

“On behalf of Zanu PF, Government, my family and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Sadza family, especially to his wife, Dr Hope Sadza and the children who have lost their pillar of strength. May they derive comfort from our prayers and from the knowledge that the nation grieves with them.”

RBZ chief speaks on Forex auction system

RBZ chief speaks on Forex auction system. The new foreign exchange measures are expected to give fair value of the local currency in relation to the United States dollar. Currency auctions are also set to curtail the black market trade in forex, as corporates can now buy US dollars and other currencies on a formal official platform that replaces the largely ineffective interbank system.

Farmers, gold miners and other producers who have been crying foul over the 1:25 fixed interbank exchange rate have something to smile about as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) starts implementing the foreign currency auction system this week.

Businesses, including retail shops, are now expected to use a uniform exchange rate which must be displayed in their premises in a move that eliminates arbitrage and speculative activities in the economy. This comes as RBZ Governor Dr John Mangudya has reiterated that all denominations under the local currency remain in use, contrary to false reports that $2 notes and coins have been phased out.

Farmers and gold producers were getting paid their local currency component at the interbank exchange rate of 1:25, at a time the rate had rocketed to around 1:70 on the parallel market. The development led some farmers to withhold deliveries at tobacco auction floors, while similarly, some gold producers shunned the country’s official buyer of gold, Fidelity Printers.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Dr Mangudya said after Tuesday, all businesses are expected to adopt the auction system as the official peg of the local currency against the US dollar and other foreign currencies.

“What we are saying is very clear in that the auction market is going to receive bids starting Tuesday from an array of foreign currency users. After receiving the bids we will end up having an average rate that will be used for all official systems,” said Dr Mangudya.

“At 1:25 it was not viable. This is now going to be the market rate for all transactions for tobacco, gold, all exporters and anyone using foreign currency.

“All shops will now be obliged to display the official rate so that they can peg prices in that regard as opposed to pegging prices based on the parallel market.” The RBZ boss said the auction system would address the double whammy of inflation and an unstable exchange rate.

“We are doing this for two reasons; firstly to flatten the inflation curve and also to flatten the curve for the rate between the official market and the black market. The rate that we will have on Tuesday will reflect what the market says because we will now have an official market for foreign currency.”

Dr Mangudya said the auction system would allow for “price discovery”, a process where the local currency finds its true value based on market fundamentals. “What we are doing is moving towards price discovery, the market should tell us what price the rate should be at. There are currently a multiplicity of exchange rates on the market. We are going to be very transparent in managing this auction system,” he said.

The RBZ Governor said the auction system has been successful in other countries such as Egypt, Nigeria, Angola and many others outside Africa.

Asked why the interbank system had failed and whether the same pitfalls would not lead to a failure of the auction system, Dr Mangudya said: “The interbank rate was not working because banks were not trading among themselves efficiently. The banks did not have the limits among themselves because of a number of reasons such as lack of will or geopolitical factors. We have a silo-type mentality in terms of interbank relationships.

“In that context, we needed another system that was efficient given the current superstructure of the banking system. The auction system is the best because we are dealing with users of foreign currency as opposed to dealing with intermediaries.”

Dr Mangudya said the introduction of the auction system will mean that there will be no need for big companies to hunt for foreign currency on the parallel market as they will now get it on the official market.

He said contrary to ill-informed suggestions, the country has enough foreign currency which needs to be properly harnessed. “Our economy requires between US$80 million and US$100 million a month to sustain all our imports, minus fuel. Gold producers, tobacco farmers and diaspora remittances bring in a total of over US$100 million.

“So what this effectively means is that the money is there in the economy. All we need to do is to harness it so that it can circulate in our economy within the official channels.”

Phasing out coins, old notes

On the widespread conjecture that $2 notes and coins had been phased out, Dr Mangudya said those behind the false reports could be out to hoodwink members of the public.

“It’s disconcerting because at no point did the RBZ make that suggestion. Those who are behind those false reports are just bent on cheating innocent citizens. I pray that the nation can have trust in the measures that we are putting instead of relying on falsehoods.”

How auction system will work. On Friday, the RBZ uploaded the Applicant Foreign Currency Bid Form on its website showing its readiness to implement the auction system.  In a statement last week, the RBZ said the auction would be held every Tuesday with companies or individuals who want forex allowed to make a bid for hard currency by 9am on the day.

Each bidder is allowed to make submissions once a day and bids will be rejected if they are made twice. The winning bidder gets the money sent to their foreign currency bank account once the local currency equivalent has been paid.

At the end of each auction day, an average of the highest and lowest bids allotted is worked out. This becomes the prevailing exchange rate of the day. At close of each sale day, a report will be published on how much was auctioned, the bids on offer, and the weighted average rate.

The bidding platform uses the Reuters Foreign Currency Auction System, linked to the export payments and exchange control platforms.

Zimbabwe records fifth Covid-19 death

Zimbabwe records fifth Covid-19 death. The death is the first coronavirus-related fatality in the Midlands Province. The last person to die of Covid-19 before the latest case was 82-year-old Gogo Nguni from Mashonaland West Province, who died on April 22.

A Gweru woman who died on Friday became the fifth person to die of Covid-19, as cases in Zimbabwe continue to spike. The latest death was reported by the Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Larry Mavima yesterday while addressing a Zanu PF meeting in Gokwe.

Cde Mavima said he was notified of the death by Midlands provincial medical director Dr Reginald Mhene on Friday night.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of a woman from Gweru who is said to have been Covid-19 positive. Dr Mhene told me that tests done on the woman after her death showed that she was Covid-19 positive.

“This brings to five the number of Covid-19-related deaths in the country and the first in the province,” said Minister Mavima, who is also the chairperson of the Midlands Provincial Covid-19 taskforce.

Cde Mavima said statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care showed that the local transmission of Covid-19 was on the increase. He said it was prudent for people to follow both lockdown rules and health guidelines such as maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks to prevent the spread of the virus.

Cde Mavima said law enforcement agents would not hesitate to bring people to book for flouting Covid-19 rules and regulations.

“We have a situation where we have people harbouring relatives and friends who ran away from quarantine centres. It is wrong and unsafe. People who come from quarantine centres must have certificates to that effect. Without one, people must report them to the police,” he said.

As of Friday, Zimbabwe had recorded 479 cases and 63 recoveries. Meanwhile, Government said it has only managed to account for 30 returnees of the 171 who escaped from various quarantine centres.

Clash of the Dhewas: Its Peter Moyo vs young brother Obert Tongai (Jnr) Moyo

Clash of the Dhewas: Its Peter Moyo vs young brother Obert Tongai (Jnr) Moyo. This is a time that we often endure chilly weather conditions outdoors or in auditoriums that feel more like cold-rooms. The pursuit of happiness is irresistible, never mind weather conditions. Talk of pleasure and pain blended together.

The sudden drop in temperatures in the past week has just made us appreciate the ongoing COVID-19-induced lockdown much more. This time around, everyone is supposed to be home, thus we continue surfing the internet for online entertainment in the comfort of our homes. But some of the stuff that we are bumping into makes us wish that this terrible phase passes.

However, local showbiz might soon be in for some pulsating sibling rivalry if ongoing “underground” developments are anything to go by. We could be in for a much-heated tiff than the one we witnessed when the Chimbetu family battled for Simon Chimbetu’s throne.

The aforesaid battle was among cousins — Suluman, son to Simon; Tryson, born to Naison; and Douglas, who is Allan’s son. But we now have Peter Moyo and his younger brother Obert Tongai (Jnr) Moyo — both sons of the late Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo — ready to square off. The two have different mothers.

It gets complicated. Utakataka Express band members seem to be all eager to become band leaders. Bass guitarist Spencer Khumbulani recently recorded and released yet another solo album, a year or so after another side project of his.

Obert Tongai (Jnr) Moyo

It is the same case with the group’s lead and rhythm guitarist, Matthew Perego, who is putting final touches to his debut studio album. Shiga Shiga, who already has three albums under his belt, is working on his fourth studio project.

Is it a case of gifted band members exploring their potential or a clear lack of confidence in the Utakataka Express front-man, Peter, aka Young Igwe, at play? Anyway, that is a story for another day. Our focus is on the brothers, Peter and Obert.

Businessmen-cum-musicians Brian Samaita and the Mhosva twins (who were both close confidantes of the late Dhewa), including former Utakataka Express bass guitarist-cum-band leader Ronnie Mudhindo, have teamed up to support Obert in his quest to become a fully-fledged singer.

Their efforts seem to be paying dividends. We are told Obert has been extensively rehearsing for live shows as well as studio productions.

Actually, he has finished recording his debut album. The official release date is yet to be made public. Obert has released some of the new material on YouTube and other social media platforms. The song and video “Dzinza Rinokosha” featuring Ronnie will certainly get one thinking.

The dance moves, gestures and vocals, oh my! We are certainly on to something. Interesting, though, is Obert’s alliance with Ronnie. This is the same guy who had a nasty fallout with the late Dhewa during their working days.

For those not in the know, the track “Muchina Muhombe” was released specifically for Ronnie and not Alick Macheso as assumed by some. Already fans are pushing for Peter and Obert to unite forces.

Peter

They reckon they have different strengths. One is more of a skilled dancer while the other one is at home on the microphone. But unity between the two is highly unlikely, at least not anytime soon.

They both have different philosophies and unkind words for each other. Also, one is arrogant while the other one presents himself as a humble fellow. Boy, we cannot wait to see how this pans out. For now, we leave it here, lest we be accused of taking sides.

Idols SA judge Somizi talks about gay marriage

While several African countries still do not allow gay marriages, Somizi says he always planned to get married and make a big deal of it. The Idols SA judge tied the knot in a traditional ceremony late last year and had a white wedding celebration a few months ago.

Speaking to Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi on Instagram Live this week, Somizi was asked about the difficulties of getting married on a continent where gay marriages are in some places illegal.

Somizi

He said that he had always planned to get married because he is “a rebel”. I am a rebel. I don’t allow any form of rule or society to dictate what I should do, especially when it comes to me being me.

“I always knew that I was born here to live my life and I am not going to live according to someone else’s acceptance of me.” He admitted that his wedding being broadcast on TV, like it was, may not have happened in a “homophobic” country, but he still wanted to make a splash.

“The world was going to know about it. It was going to happen. I always knew that I was going to get married, even before we had the right to same-sex marriage.

Minister of Health Obadiah Moyo arrest drama: New details emerge

Minister of Health Obadiah Moyo arrest drama: New details emerge. Government officials allegedly put pressure on police to release Health minister Obadiah Moyo after his detention on Friday over the $60 million Covid-19 medical supply scandal amid fears his case will collapse due to interference.

The were alleged attempts to take Moyo out of Harare’s Rhodesville Police Station on Friday night as some unnamed government officials wanted him to spend the night at home before his court appearance yesterday. According to officials close to the case, the minister was arrested in the evening by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc), but was only booked into the cells at 2am.

He only went into detention after his family brought a mattress and blankets, the sources said. Moyo only slept for about five hours before he was taken to Zacc offices at around 8am. The sources said there was haggling between the police and Zacc with the anti-graft body insisting that Moyo should be detained overnight. Moyo used his official vehicles to go the Harare magistrates’ court.

He was released on $50 000 bail by chief magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi after prosecutors gave their consent. Zacc spokesperson John Makamure and police spokesperson Paul Nyathi both professed ignorance about the drama surrounding Moyo’s detention.

The insiders, however, said it was linked to squabbles between Zacc and the President’s Office, where some officials allegedly tried to block the minister’s arrest. When he arrived at the courts, Moyo remained in his car for close to three hours before his case started after lunch.

Prosecutors immediately consented to bail on condition that he surrendered his passport, title deeds of a property in Eastlea in the name of his wife Memory Moyo as surety and that he reports at Zacc offices three times a week.

After he was released on bail, Moyo’s aides were seen carrying a heavy box full of cash to pay for the minister’s freedom. The clerk of court, however, preferred electronic payment and the box was ferried back to Moyo’s vehicle.

Laying out the charges, Prosecutors said sometime in March last year, Moyo was approached by Delish Nguwaya, a country representative for Papi Pharma LLC, who proposed to supply the government with medicines and sundries through a US$15 million loan facility.

Moyo allegedly agreed and instructed former Health ministry permanent secretary Gerald Gwinji to process the paperwork and award the tender to the company under a direct purchase.

It is alleged that on March 20 last year, Gwinji wrote a letter to Treasury requesting that due diligence be undertaken on Papi Pharma LLC before it could be contracted. But Moyo, using his position and influence, directed Gwinji to engage Papi Pharma LLC before a response on the due diligence had been received from Treasury.

On March 25, Gwinji allegedly received a response from Finance permanent secretary George Guvamatanga requesting to be furnished with competitive international prices for the various medicines outlined in the schedule by Papi Pharma LLC.

On Moyo’s instruction, Gwinji directed Natpharm GM Flora Sifeku to proceed with the procurement process with Papi Pharma. As a result, prosecutors said on May 29, NatPharm used a direct purchase method and awarded the tender to Papi Pharma LLC before due diligence was concluded.

On June 14, Foreign Affairs permanent secretary James Manzou produced an adverse report on Papi Pharma that indicated the company and its director Klodian Allajbeu were linked to a terrorist group known as the Gulen Movement. According to the charges, Moyo “showed favour to Papi Pharma”, causing a potential prejudice of US$15 million to the government.

On the second charge, prosecutors said on August 22, Nguwaya visited Moyo in the company of Illir Dedja, a Drax Consult SAGL representative, where the two presented a letter of expression of interest in the supply of drugs worth US$20 million under Drax.

Moyo allegedly gave the letter to then permanent secretary Agnes Mahomva for processing after his approval. Mahomva then asked Treasury to conduct a due diligence on Drax. On September 19, Guvamatanga received a response from the President’s Office, with indications that the business activities of the company could not be ascertained. Guvamatanga allegedly wrote to Mahomva advising that it was not advisable to engage Drax due to an adverse due diligence report.

But the following day, Moyo phoned Guvamatanga indicating that new information showed that Drax had been cleared. Moyo allegedly exerted pressure on his subordinates, particularly Mahomva, to award a tender to Drax for the supply of medicines through NatPharm during meetings he held in his office with officials from the ministry, Natpharm and Drax.

On December 11, NatPharm and Drax entered into a contract and the company supplied medicine and surgical sundries worth US$2 733 980, of which US$2 million was paid by Treasury into Drax’s Hungary account. Prosecutors said Moyo’s conduct caused a potential prejudice of US$17 266 020.

Moyo allegedly facilitated another contract for Drax International LLC to supply drugs worth US$40 million despite the fact that the company had failed a security check.  Treasury, however, ordered the cancellation of that contract, but Drax supplied Covid-19 test kits valued at US$987 720, which were procured after the contract was cancelled.

On May 8, Moyo allegedly gave instruction for Guvamatanga to facilitate the clearance of the test kits which were being held at the airport that had been supplied under Drax’s cancelled US$40 million contract.

Prosecutors said on the same day, Moyo personally handed over an invoice worth US$987 720 to Guvamatanga from Drax. Moyo claimed there were 15 000 test kits at the Robert Mugabe International Airport, but when he went to check the consignment, Guvamatanga discovered that there were only 3 700 test kits. Nguwaya is already in detention over the scandal.

Why the sudden deployment of heavy-armed Army in Harare and Bulawayo?

$

Why the sudden deployment of heavy-armed Army in Harare and Bulawayo? The issue was raised as a matter of privilege in the National Assembly last Thursday by Mbizo MP Settlement Chikwinya.

An opposition MP has demanded that President Emmerson Mnangagwa or Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri must explain to Parliament the deployment of the military across the country.

Chikwinya’s demands followed the heavy deployment of soldiers in Harare and Bulawayo last week where they blocked people from entering central business districts in both citify. In Harare soldiers were allegedly deployed when the MDC-T faction led by Thokozani Khupe forcefully took over Harvest House from the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.

In Bulawayo, the same deployment was made soon after a press conference by Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe, where he dismissed ‘rumours’ of a coup plot. But the government has said the presence of security forces was meant to enforce Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

“On a point of public emergency, after realising that the coronavirus pandemic had hit Zimbabwe, the executive responded accordingly and declared that it be a public emergency situation,” Chikwinya said.

“To that extent, soldiers were deployed to our communities and soldiers are deployed only in terms of section 213 of our constitution, which requires that the president must cause Parliament to be given the details of the deployment. I therefore call upon you honourable chairperson to rule that we respect the provisions of section 214 that Parliament be informed of the details and the manner under which the soldiers are being found in our constituencies.

“That arises from the fact that there are now reports that there are activities being done by the men of the military which we want to interrogate either by the representative of the president or the minister of Defence.”

Acting speaker of the National Assembly William Mutomba, however, did not respond to the issue. Section 214 of the constitution deals with political accountability for deployment of Defence Forces and reads: “When the Defence Forces are deployed (a) in Zimbabwe to assist in the maintenance of public order; or (b) outside Zimbabwe; the president must cause Parliament to be informed, promptly and in appropriate detail, of the reasons for their deployment and – (i) where they are deployed in Zimbabwe, the place where they are deployed; (ii) where they are deployed outside Zimbabwe, the country in which they are deployed.”

Muchinguri was present in the House, but she did not respond to the issue.

Apostle Lorcadia has a word for you: Don’t be dismayed. From Prime Minister’s wife to apostle. To most Zimbabweans, the name Locadia Karimatsenga Tembo brings back memories of her bitter court battle with the country’s then Prime Minister, former trade unionist and popular opposition leader, the late Morgan Tsvangirai.

It was September 2012 and Locadia had launched a legal bid to stop the marriage of the PM to Elizabeth Macheka, the businesswoman who had replaced her after her own short-lived union with Tsvangirai.

Well, she has a word for us in this COVID-19 Pandemic we are in. Check what she had to say to us on this beautiful blessed Sunday.

Lorcadia

During this #Covid19 period a lot of you have experienced tremendous loss. Some have lost in business, some relationships, family members and loved ones. I want to let you know that God sees your tears and because he doesn’t want you to go through pain he will wipe your tears away. It might be in the form of a person, a company or an opportunity.

Karimatsenga

Cheer up and have faith, God will change your situation and you will smile again only if you believe. *And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

Karimatsenga Locardia

And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”* Mark 9:21-24 ESV

Happy birthday to Warriors captain Knowledge Musona. A lot of stories have been circulating about the Warriors talisman. His life in the field has been one hell of a ride. He has been rocked with so many stories depending on his future in the game. South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have revealed they are so keen in landing the signature of the forward.

Meanwhile, his manager has reiterated that his player still wants to enjoy European football. He says he has unfinished business with it. The 29-year-old Zimbabwe international hitman is set to finally end his nightmarish stint at Anderlecht after he was reportedly transfer-listed by the Belgian side’s new manager Franky Vercauteren last week.

Knowledge Musona

He might have just made a paltry eight appearances for Belgian Pro League football side Anderlecht, scoring just one goal since his big move in July 2018, but Warriors captain Knowledge Musona (pictured) is the fourth highest-paid player at the Brussels club earning over US$1 million annually.

Captain Musona

This season, Musona was restricted to just one reserve team appearance for the record 34-time Belgian league champions before sealing a loan switch to fellow Belgian top-flight side KAS Eupen during the January transfer window period in search of regular game time.

Musona

Happy birthday Warrior wishing you many more and a brighter future in the game.

Tendai Mtawarira the Beast appointed CEO of SA security company. The 34-year-old Harare-born prop was on Thursday confirmed as the new CEO and shareholder of a newly-formed South African company – Umlindi Security – a subsidiary of Fidelity Services Group, one of Southern Africa’s largest integrated security firms.

Barely six months after guiding South Africa to a memorable Rugby World Cup triumph in Yokohama, Japan, Zimbabwe-born Springboks legend Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira is bracing for a new adventure, this time in the world of business.

Wahl Bartmann, the group CEO of Fidelity Services Group, said the new role would be a perfect fit for Mtawarira as he transitions from his professional rugby career into the corporate world. “Tendai has been a part of Fidelity for close to nine years now as our brand ambassador,” Bartmann said in a statement.

“Over the past few years, Mtawarira has worked closely with me, shadowing me and joining me at many company events and meetings. I have enjoyed my time as his mentor and collaborating on a number of different projects, which have all been successful. It was only a matter of time before the skills he gained would assist him to start his own company.”

The two met through a chance encounter eight years ago and became close friends, with Bartmann eventually taking on a mentorship role for Mtawarira. According to Bartmann, Mtawarira’s natural flair and strength as a professional rugby player and his business acumen are well-suited to the requirements of a new business venture.

Beast

Mtawarira is currently studying towards his MBA. He recently enrolled at the Henley Business School MBA programme to further prepare for his new role as a businessman with Umlindi Security and Fidelity Services Group.

“Being a businessman has excited me for a long time because it combines many of the core values I needed in my rugby career, like teamwork, innovation, commitment, continuous self-improvement and having fun,” said Mtawarira.

Tendai Mtawarira

“I am excited to start this new adventure and look forward to growing Umlindi into a prominent player in the security and related services industry, and look forward to more involvement with the Fidelity Services Group.”

Umlindi will focus on aspects of guarding, cleaning services, car tracking, home and business security, cash management solutions, and fire solutions.

But in journalistic terms, a kite has been flown and the people’s mood is clear. His superiors need to act. In fact, people could just as well protest if Moyo is not sacked!”

Newcastle beat 10 men Sheffield United 3 – 0

Newcastle beat 10 men Sheffield United 3 – 0. The relief on the Brazilian striker’s face was apparent when he tapped in the Magpies’ third, and although there were no fans inside St James’ Park to celebrate with, no doubt many were screaming with delight as the £40m striker ended his torrid run.

Joelinton scored only his second Premier League goal and first since 25 August as Newcastle swept aside 10-man Sheffield United to take a huge step towards safety.

That was the icing on a sweet Magpies cake. Despite playing their first match since the restart, they looked far fresher than their opponents who produced one of their worst defensive displays of the season, capped off by the red card for John Egan five minutes after the break.

It means Chris Wilder’s side, who drew against Aston Villa in their opening match back, have taken just one point from two games against teams they would be expected to beat. Next up for them is Manchester United – a crucial match in the race for a top-four spot.

As for Newcastle, who have been dealing with a takeover saga during the lockdown, they have 38 points and are 11 points above the drop-zone. They now look all but safe.

Allan Saint-Maximin sent them on their way when he fired home at the far post after Enda Stevens inexplicably allowed Ritchie’s low ball to go between his legs. Ritchie then added a second with a thunderous strike from the edge of the area.

Then came Joelinton’s strike from close range after Miguel Almiron delivered a pinpoint low ball to his feet. Newcastle stay at home for their next match against struggling Aston Villa.

Chelsea stages a comeback as they beat Aston Villa 2 – 1 at Villa Park

Chelsea stages a comeback as they beat Aston Villa 2 – 1 at Villa Park. The Blues dominated the first half but fell behind when Kepa failed to hold Anwar El Ghazi’s shot and Kortney Hause was on hand to bundle in.

Chelsea returned to Premier League action by coming from behind to beat relegation-threatened Aston Villa and strengthen their bid for a top-four finish. Chelsea fought back after the break and turned the game on its head with two goals in as many minutes.

First, substitute Christian Pulisic smashed Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross into the roof of the net at the far post before Olivier Giroud drove in from 15 yards with the help of a slight deflection.

The win means fourth-placed Chelsea restored their five-point advantage over Manchester United and Wolves, who are fifth and sixth respectively. Aston Villa, meanwhile, remains in the relegation zone, one point from safety after taking one point from their first two games back following the resumption of the Premier League.

Chelsea pick up from where they left off

The suspension of the season had perhaps come at a frustrating time for Chelsea. They had just beaten Liverpool 2-0 in the FA Cup fifth round and then thrashed Everton 4-0 in the league.

But, 105 days on from that win against the Toffees, Chelsea looked fresh and motivated from the outset against a Villa side fighting for survival.

The only concern, however, was their inability to turn chances into goals – particularly in the first half.

Mason Mount saw a powerful strike kept out by Villa keeper Orjan Nyland before Ruben Loftus-Cheek, making a welcome return to the side after a year out with injury, just failed to turn home a teasing ball across the face of goal.

It could have proved costly, particularly when Villa scored from only their second shot on target to take the lead.

In the end Chelsea got the job done but, with 19 attempts on goal, they should perhaps have won by a more comfortable margin.

The signing of Timo Werner for next season will hopefully address Chelsea’s struggles to make the most of their opportunities but for now, Frank Lampard will hope his current forwards will use the striker’s impending arrival as motivation to be more clinical in the end-of-season run-in.

Cesar’s rare double – the stats

  • Aston Villa have now lost five Premier League games after scoring first this season, two more than any other side in the competition.
  • Chelsea have won 10 of their last 11 Premier League matches against Aston Villa (L1), with Frank Lampard either appearing as a player or managing the Blues in six of those 10 wins.
  • Aston Villa have failed to win any of their last 21 Premier League matches against teams starting the day in the top four (D4 L17), since a 1-0 win at home to Chelsea in March 2014.
  • Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic has been directly involved in seven goals in his last eight away Premier League games (five goals, two assists).
  • Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has scored in each of his last seven games against Aston Villa in all competitions, netting nine goals in the process (eight for Arsenal, one for Chelsea).
  • Aston Villa’s Kortney Hause’s opener against Chelsea was his first Premier League goal, meaning he has now scored in each of the top four divisions in English football, with today just his seventh league goal.
  • Chelsea defender César Azpilicueta provided two assists in a single Premier League game for only the second time in his 263-game English top-flight career – also doing so versus Stoke in September 2017.
  • Frank Lampard took charge of his 100th match in his managerial career, winning 46 of those 100 games in all competitions with current side Chelsea (22), and Derby County (24).

Khupe camp says they have never received anything publicly or privately from Zanu-PF

Khupe camp says they have never received anything publicly or privately from Zanu-PF. Thokozani Khupe’s spokesperson Mr Khalipani Phugeni has rejected insinuations that the Khupe led MDC T faction is a Zanu Pf project whose sole aim is to neutralise the youthful MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa, Sunday News reports.

In dismissing the reports, Phugeni said Khupe has never received anything from Zanu PF:

It is a sad thing that people would treat others in a manner they would not want to be treated themselves because we all know that natural justice demands that he that accuses must prove. Dr Khupe has previously been arrested over seven times, she has received nothing, publicly or privately from Zanu-PF, which the same cannot be said about her detractors.

Simply because she stood firm and pushed back against infringement of her rights and stood resolute defending not only herself but her gender because she was being marginalised on the basis of her gender and ethnicity, so she stood firm, which the ruling elite and the private media did not like. They did not like this woman who was not submissive.

Earlier this month, Khupe took over MDC Alliance headquarters Harvest House assisted by state security agents, which further fueled stories they were working for or with the ruling party to neutralise the ruling party’s strongest opponent Nelson Chamisa.
