Award-winning Gqom group Distruction Boyz has gone separate ways. This was confirmed by the duo, who said they are both working on solo projects.

Yesterday, Zipho “Goldmax” Mthembu dropped his solo single titled Iphupho Lami.

He told Sunday Sun the full album will be released next month.

“There’s no bad blood between us, it’s just that we’re now focusing on our solo careers,” Goldmax said.

Thobani “Que” Mgobhozi said he’s also in the studio working on his solo album.

“There’s no bad vibes about our split,” he said.

Sources say the Omunye hitmakers parted ways because they wanted to try their individual careers in showbiz.

But another source painted a different picture, saying there was a conflict between them.

Said the mole: “They felt they’re talented and will be more appreciated as individuals and can succeed much better apart.

“They realized that they’re different and want different things in life and have different styles of music.”

Another source said they’ve been advised that in order to be rich in the industry they should go solo.

“If you’re set on making it big in the industry, you need to leave the group and start your own thing,” said the source.

Merseyside derby: Liverpool, Everton play to a goalless draw

Merseyside derby: Liverpool, Everton play to a goalless draw. Liverpool, who now need five points to be sure of top spot, can still clinch their first title in 30 years against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday – but only if Manchester City fail to beat Burnley at Etihad Stadium on Monday.

Everton came close to securing their first Merseyside derby victory in more than a decade – but had to settle for a point against Premier League champions-elect Liverpool at Goodison Park.

The Reds dominated possession against a very well-organised Everton, but it took a superb late save from Alisson to keep out Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s flick before Tom Davies struck the rebound against the post.

Alisson then saved well from Brazilian compatriot Richarlison as a largely tame game, with the surreal atmosphere of a derby played behind closed doors, sprang to life.

Everton keeper Jordan Pickford saved well from Fabinho’s free-kick in the closing moments but it was a game that highlighted two understandably rusty sides – although Liverpool’s coronation will come soon.

RBZ Governor: Zimbabwe has enough Forex

RBZ Governor: Zimbabwe has enough Forex. The new foreign exchange measures are expected to give a fair value of the local currency in relation to the United States dollar. Currency auctions are also set to curtail the black market trade in forex, as corporates can now buy US dollars and other currencies on a formal official platform that replaces the largely ineffective interbank system.

Farmers, gold miners and other producers who have been crying foul over the 1:25 fixed interbank exchange rate have something to smile about as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) starts implementing the foreign currency auction system this week.

Businesses, including retail shops, are now expected to use a uniform exchange rate which must be displayed in their premises in a move that eliminates arbitrage and speculative activities in the economy.

This comes as RBZ Governor Dr John Mangudya has reiterated that all denominations under the local currency remain in use, contrary to false reports that $2 notes and coins have been phased out.

Farmers and gold producers were getting paid their local currency component at the interbank exchange rate of 1:25, at a time the rate had plunged to around 1:70 on the parallel market. The development led some farmers to withhold deliveries at tobacco auction floors, while similarly, some gold producers shunned the country’s official buyer of gold, Fidelity Printers.

In an interview with our Harare Bureau, Dr Mangudya said after Tuesday, all businesses are expected to adopt the auction system as the official peg of the local currency against the US dollar and other foreign currencies.

“What we are saying is very clear in that the auction market is going to receive bids starting Tuesday from an array of foreign currency users. After receiving the bids we will end up having an average rate that will be used for all official systems,” said Dr Mangudya.

“At 1:25 it was not viable. This is now going to be the market rate for all transactions for tobacco, gold, all exporters and anyone using foreign currency. All shops will now be obliged to display the official rate so that they can peg prices in that regard as opposed to pegging prices based on the parallel market.”

The RBZ boss said the auction system would address the double whammy of inflation and an unstable exchange rate.

“We are doing this for two reasons; firstly to flatten the inflation curve and also to flatten the curve for the rate between the official market and the black market. The rate that we will have on Tuesday will reflect what the market says because we will now have an official market for foreign currency.”

Dr Mangudya said the auction system would allow for “price discovery”, a process where the local currency finds its true value based on market fundamentals.

“What we are doing is moving towards price discovery, the market should tell us what price the rate should be at. There are currently a multiplicity of exchange rates on the market. We are going to be very transparent in managing this auction system,” he said.

The RBZ Governor said the auction system has been successful in other countries such as Egypt, Nigeria, Angola and many others outside Africa. Asked why the interbank system had failed and whether the same pitfalls would not lead to a failure of the auction system, Dr Mangudya said: “The interbank rate was not working because banks were not trading among themselves efficiently.

The banks did not have the limits among themselves because of a number of reasons such as lack of will or geopolitical factors. We have a silo-type mentality in terms of interbank relationships.”

Dr Mangudya said the introduction of the auction system will mean that there will be no need for big companies to hunt for foreign currency on the parallel market as they will now get it on the official market. He said contrary to ill-informed suggestions, the country has enough foreign currency which needs to be properly harnessed.

“Our economy requires between US$80 million and US$100 million a month to sustain all our imports, minus fuel. Gold producers, tobacco farmers and diaspora remittances bring in a total of over US$100 million. So what this effectively means is that the money is there in the economy. All we need to do is to harness it so that it can circulate in our economy within the official channels.”

In a statement last week, the RBZ said the auction would be held every Tuesday with companies or individuals who want forex allowed to make a bid for hard currency by 9am on the day.

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa fingered in another corruption scandal

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa fingered in another corruption scandal. The allegations were made by Freeman Chari a Zimbabwean and opposition MDC activist based in the United States who alleges that the first lady’s underhand dealings forced retired army brigadier Vela Moyo to resign last year.

Zimbabwe’s first lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa is reportedly running a hire car company which does not have its own cars.

The allegations come when her son, Collins Mnangagwa has been linked with a controversial company known as Drax International which supplied medical equipment to the Ministry of Health and Child Care at ridiculously exorbitant prices. We present Chari’s full Twitter thread below.

If you dig you will find more. For example, Auxillia runs a car hire company. The company has no cars of its own. The govt forwards cars to her company from DDF etc. She then sub-lease the cars back to other govt dept & gets paid.

Sometime last year a Retired Army Brig or so from Matebeleland was fired from Min Of Finance because he refused to forward $2 million to her as she was saying she needed it for her travel to USA.

The guy was fired because the only forex that was available was for a UNDP program involving prisons. He paid prisons. Following day, he found his office locked and he was demoted and posted to Plumtree. He resigned. I now leave this in the hands of investigative journalists.

Recent reports of corruption have triggered doubts in President Mnangagwa’s sincerity in fighting corruption in the country.

Meanwhile, government officials and the ruling ZANU PF say the arrest of two serving ministers, Obadiah Moyo and Prisca Mupfumira is indicative of a president who does not tolerate corruption. Others are however sceptical of the arrests saying they will be released, as usual.

South Africa Court: Zimbabwe special permit holders to get SA’s R350 Covid-19 relief grant

South Africa Court: Zimbabwe special permit holders to get SA’s R350 Covid-19 relief grant. The judgment was handed down by Judge Selby Baqwa on Thursday following an application by the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town, an NGO advocating for and assisting asylum-seekers, migrants and refugees. The NGO approached the court to force the government to extend the grant to asylum-seekers and special permit holders.

The Pretoria High Court’s ruling compelling the government to give asylum-seekers the R350 Covid-19 relief grant is expected to cost the Department of Social Development R700 million.

The court declared directions issued by Minister Lindiwe Zulu unconstitutional and unlawful for excluding asylum-seekers and special permit holders from accessing the grant.

The Department of Social Development (DSD) this week said it would be adhering to the ruling. Spokesperson Lumka Oliphant said the department was not excluding refugees. “It is important to first clarify that the judgment did not instruct the government to include refugees; they were already included.

“The court order was about the inclusion of asylum-seekers and special permit holders from Zimbabwe, Angola and Lesotho.

“The department will have to amend to include the words ‘holders of special permits under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit Dispensation and the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation, and asylum-seekers whose section 22 permits/visas are valid or were valid on 15 March 2020′,” she said.

Oliphant said this meant that directions issued by the Minister of Social Development were still valid and in force, except for the exclusion of asylum-seekers and holders of special permits as stated above. She admitted the judgment would put strain on the DSD and government.

“The cost estimate is around R700m. The order will increase the pool of eligible applicants who will still be subjected to the stringent qualifying criteria to access the Special Covid-19 SRD grant of R350,” she said.

Following the Pretoria High Court’s ruling, economist Mike Schussler said the relief amount would be substantial and would add to the state’s financial burden. “With the pressure South Africa is under, it will increase the burden on the tax base.

“We are spending R9 billion extra a month on our Sassa grants, so adding this will add about 2% more on the payments. “It’s not a very big percentage but it’s money we don’t have,” he said.

African Transformation Movement (ATM) said while the judgment was humane, it was apprehensive about its full implications. “ATM is puzzled that the asylum-seekers have successfully argued that their industries are affected by lockdown.

“Surely, asylum-seekers should not be competing for employment with our locals? It cannot be fair and just for South Africans to be roaming the streets while low-level jobs in the hospitality and tourism industries are taken up by intentional immigrants,” spokesperson Sizwe Richard said.

Richard added that the organisation was concerned that intentional migration had been confused and conflated with the status of asylum-seekers. “The government is called upon to implement immigration policies that do not undermine the provisions of the UN conventions.

“The Home Affairs Department must advise Minister Lindiwe Zulu on how the immigrants are categorised so that the fiscus of South Africa is not used for cases which the UN funding is providing for,” he said.

Many South Africans were outraged by the judgment, some arguing that their relatives had been rejected and were suffering while foreigners would now benefit from a programme that was supposed to uplift them. Thabo Moremi said he had applied but had not received a response and continued to suffer.

“It can’t be that we as South Africans are suffering but the foreigners will be getting money and we don’t. Our government and the system seems to care more about foreigners than the citizens who vote for them,” he said. Lindelani Mahlangu shared the same sentiment, indicating that entry-level jobs in many industries had been given to foreigners while locals remained unemployed and, again, were being overlooked and foreigners prioritised.

She said it could not happen that the government would “give money to outsiders” before its citizens. “The government must prioritise us before they can even think of extending a helping hand to our brothers and sisters from outside. Yes, we love them and want to see them live, but not at our expense. They have taken our jobs, and now they are taking money that is meant to help us South Africans,” she said.

The order came as Sassa announced that at least 2 million applications had been rejected. The agency said it had been inundated with complaints since it had begun to inform some people that their applications were unsuccessful.

Sassa chief executive Totsie Memela said the agency was aware that the decisions had caused unhappiness among many citizens. However, everyone needed to be clear on the qualifying criteria, as the grant should go to the most deserving citizens of this country.

“We are aware that the initial batch of notifications did not provide the exact reason for the rejection and are doing everything possible to ensure that the notifications which go to applicants going forward are specific, to indicate exactly why the application failed.

“This will enable those affected to be able to understand the basis for the decision. Also, we are working on an appeals process where those who, after being informed of the reason for the decision, still feel that they qualify for the grant, can lodge an appeal,” Memela said.

Zupco bus on fire: Pic. A ZUPCO bus that was about to ferry passengers Sunday afternoon went up in flames in Gweru. No one was injured. Police confirmed the incident although saying details on the cause of the fire were still unknown.

“We are yet to establish the cause of how and why the bus went up in flames though we have received a report,” Midlands police provincial spokesperson Joel Goko told NewZimbabwe.com. Passengers at nearby bus terminus were left in shock upon seeing the bus going up in flames. They also felt relieved that the bus had caught fire with no passengers on board.

“We were shocked to see the bus going up in flames. It is quite fortunate that the incident happened when no passengers were aboard the bus,” an onlooker said.

Since the government introduced the national lockdown on 31 March to curb the spread of Covid-19, ZUPCO has been the only source of public transport. However, its depleted fleet of buses has been failing to meet demand, leaving passengers stranded. ZUPCO bus burns in Gweru CBD. No injuries recorded.

Although the Government offered a USD$75 for every civil servant for three months during COVID 19 crisis, some hospitals have seen patients turned away as nurses are on strike. This has compromised the health sector under the global spotlight after health minister Obadiah Moyo was arrested last week facing corruption charges running into millions of US dollars.

The Queen actress Zenande Mfenyana is threatening to spill some hot tea and she says we are not ready for it. The soon-to-be mommy claims that she has been silent for too long and it is about time she let’s the cat out of the bag.

She has not spilled any more details on what her next rant is going to be about but it seems as though social media has already put two and two together and The Fergusons are on everyone’s lips.

Zenande Mfenyana

It is however rather confusing and not certain who or what she is waiting to expose, because she defended her disgraced bosses just last week. She issued out a stern warning for people who are waiting for her to ‘expose’ The Fergusons when she told them ‘Hands Off The Fergusons.’

Which makes the ‘big reveal’ even more enthralling, as she soon deleted the tweet, raising even more eyebrows. Her recent tweets have caused a huge storm on Twitter and many are waiting in anticipation as she left her story hanging.

An irked Zenande tweeted “God causes his face to shine upon all of us, those who think the sun shines in their asses only, le tlo nyela.”

Govt and teachers agree on Zimsec June exam

Govt and teachers agree on Zimsec June exam. The pledge by Government to fulfil the exam conditions sought by the teachers’ unions means the urgent chamber application brought by the unions became an uncontested matter, thus prompting the High Court to grant the order.

Health and safety measures against Covid-19 infections must be in place at all June examination centres by June 26 in line with the prescribed standards of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the High Court has ruled in an order issued by consent.

The unions wanted the court to compel the Government to postpone the sitting of June examinations until all examination centres meet WHO Covid-19 prescribed standards, but the Government in response said it would meet those standards by June 26.

The public examinations are scheduled to start on June 30, but teachers’ unions were arguing that they were not ready to go back to school until a well-informed analysis of the impact of Covid-19 has been done and all health and safety measures are in place.

When the parties appeared before Justice Jesta Charewa sitting in her chambers last Wednesday they thrashed out the contentious issues, leading to the judge granting the consent order. It was agreed that by June 26, the Government should ensure that schools are fumigated, and the cleaning and disinfecting carried out within specified and agreed timelines.

The government would provide necessary temperature scanners for teachers and learners, ensure testing and adequate sanitisation, as well as making sure that all necessary steps to meet the Covid-19, WHO guidelines.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association secretary-general Mr Tapson Nganunu in a statement yesterday said that the Government’s response to the union’s application was based on the premise that Government would ensure that learners and teachers who will take part in the June 2020 examinations will be protected against Covid-19.

Parirenyatwa probing child switching scandal. Further to the scandal, the ‘confessions’ suggests the midwife was jealous of her friend’s married life during the time and first attempted to kill the baby, who was at the maternity ward before she then switched the babies. Parirenyatwa’s Head of Public Relations Linos Dhire confirmed to H-Metro that an investigation is underway to establish the facts. “We came across that story this is a story which happened in 1991.

According to the unconfirmed social media claims, the incident took place in 1991 when the then Parirenyatwa midwife allegedly switched her friend’s child with a physically-challenged baby belonging to another woman. Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals are investigating social media claims that a former midwife switched babies and gave her friend a physically-challenged child to spite her.

“We are also interested in it and we are not ignoring it. “For now we are doing all we can to resolve the matter and our team is looking into out archives from the nineties. “First of all we have to look into the names and see if they really were admitted here at Pari during that time.

“We would want to establish the children’s names before we confirm or deny anything. “This is a really difficult process considering it’s from 1991 up to now,” he explained. Dhire said results will be available after due processes and the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe would be incorporated into the matter to determine the course of action. The circulating confession reads as follows; “Ini ndiri Mukadzi akura chaizvo pazera.

“Mugore ra 1991 ndaishandira pachipatara che Parerinyatwa ndiri mbuya nyamukuta. “Shamwari yangu yandaidyidzana nayo akaroorwa zvakadadisa. “Murume wake akamurambidza Kuti awirirane neni. “Vanga vakungoita hupenyu hwepamusoro zvekuti kana ini ndanga ndisingachazivikanwe. “Zvakandidya moyo zvese negodo zvikandibata.

“Ndakabva ndamuchinjanisa newe shamwari yangu uye vakanga vaitwa ma c-section vese. “Ndakaita dhiri iri nevamwe vangu. “Ndinoda kungoreurura hangu asi izvi azvina kuputsa imba yake sekufunga kwangu. “Kana uripo pano Everjoy Mapako or Hama dzake ndisvitsireiwo mashoko aya. “Now ndave Mukadzi mukuru uye ndakuziva Mwari.
