SADC get ready for Anti-Sanctions Day

SADC get ready for Anti-Sanctions Day. This follows a declaration by SADC member states last year to unite in the call for the unconditional removal of the unjust economic sanctions that have had a debilitating effect on the country’s economic development. “We are going to convene a meeting this week as SADC ambassadors to prepare for the Anti-Sanctions Day.

Preparations for this year SADC Anti-Sanctions Day are at an advanced stage, with South African Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mphakama Mbete saying a meeting of regional diplomats is on the cards ahead of the day.

“My government and other SADC member states will take part in the commemorations of the Anti-Sanctions Day scheduled for October 25. All SADC members’ states are rallying behind Zimbabwe in the fight against the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, which is affecting the general populace,” he said.

Although the Second Republic has opened its doors for re-engagement and engagement with all countries, some Western countries have rebuffed the efforts as evidenced by periodic renewals.

Malawian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ms Annie Yauka Kumwenda, said sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe were affecting SADC, hence the need to call for their removal since they were stifling economic growth of the region. “The imposed sanctions on the innocent people of Zimbabwe have done more damage, more especially where its intended purpose is not known.

“Malawi stands in solidarity with Zimbabwe, SADC and all well-wishers in calling an end to the sanctions. The sanctions are actually impinging on human rights. Children are born and raised in a sanction environment. Access to quality life like education, health, food, shelter is compromised, all because of the sanctions. Please lift the sanctions for the well-being of children who know nothing about sanctions apart from bearing their consequences,” she said.

African leaders, from Cape Town to Cairo have been unequivocal in their united call for the removal of the unjust sanctions which have cost Zimbabwe more billions of dollars as the country had to go it alone without access to financial loans and other budgetary support.

This year, the SADC secretariat has taken the fight against the illegal sanctions that were imposed by Western countries, including the United States and the European Union, to various Western capitals with ambassadors from regional states engaging their host nations to amplify the voice for the lifting of the sanctions.

In Zimbabwe, the commemoration of the Anti-Sanctions Day will culminate in the hosting of a music gala to be graced by an array of artistes. Organisers of the gala said the venue is likely to be outside Harare. The idea behind hosting the gala outside the capital is meant to ensure that the anti-sanctions message cascades to the grassroots.

Blue Mbombo has come out to express her frustration over speculations that she and model Tino Chinyani ever dated. This assumption comes after the very steamy pictures the two models posted on each other’s social media which saw many people wishing that they were an item.

After announcing that he and actress Simphiwe Ngema were expecting a baby, people flooded his timeline with negative things to say. For starters people pulled out a tweet of him and fellow model Blue Mbombo where they shared some sultry nude photos. Understandably they are both signed by the same modelling agency, however, it was Tino’s caption that made many insinuate that they were a couple.

Blue Mbombo and Tino Chinyani

“You were made for me,” captioned Tino as he shared the sexxy snaps.

He also suffered a great deal of bullying from xenophobes but he was basking in the excitement of becoming a father.

Blue Mbombo and Tino Chinyani

Many people wanted to know if he and Blue did actually date but the two of them chose to not address those rumours so they continued on till Blue decided to put them to rest.

When a social media user posted a meme that makes Blue feel like a jealous ex, Blue said these assumptions are wild as the photoshoot was innocent.

Blue Mbombo and Tino Chinyani

“Y’all stop this bulls**t honestly, it’s annoying. Tino and I had a photoshoot together! A photoshoot!” she commented.

Tino is always catching heat for one or the other post on social media, especially on Twitter. This time, it was over his participation during the “how-it-started versus how-it-is-going viral” challenge.

Tino posted very descriptive and jaw-dropping screenshots of a conversation he first had with the mother of his child, Simz Ngema. Tino opened room for tweeps to draw their own conclusions and they were very much not impressed. Many women took offense and they called him out on it.

It seems as though most people could not get over the, “Trust it would be sensational. I would make you shake,”

The model who has build a successful in Television is not one to constantly display his private life in the spotlight. Tino says the entertainment industry can toxic, so you must always be vigilant.

“The industry is very toxic, I feel like, the problem with our people of influence and public figures is that they are not trying to inspire and motivate fans a lot. Some do try but a lot of heavyweights they are very selfish for them its a ego contest they fight on Twitter over small things they are not trying to uplift people but to pull each other down,” he told ZAlebs.

Injured Prince Dube scores another brace

Injured Prince Dube scores another brace. The in-form striker pulled out of that match, saying he was injured but was back in action just 24 hours after the Warriors’ battle in Malawi.

Zimbabwe international forward, Prince Dube, turned out for his Tanzanian side, Azam FC, yesterday – just a day after the Warriors’ friendly international against the Flames in Blantyre on Sunday.

Dube scored twice, including converting a penalty, in a friendly against Fountain Gate FC.  Azam, who powered to a comfortable 4-0 victory, fielded their three Zimbabwean players – Dube, Bruce Kangwa and Never Tigere.

The Tanzanian club, who have won all their first five league matches of the season, with Dube at the heart of their success story, were preparing for their league game against Mwadui on Thursday.

Dube was one of the regular members of the Warriors who pulled out of the friendly match in Malawi for various reasons. His Warriors’ teammate, Kuda Mahachi, withdrew from the match, against the Flames, after testing positive for Covid-19.

This meant he was unable to travel from his base, in South Africa, to join his teammates in Harare ahead of the trip to the Malawi commercial capital. SuperSport United chief executive, Stan Matthews, revealed yesterday that three of his players tested positive for the coronavirus.

Matthews said Mahachi had wanted his status to remain confidential but he ended up revealing his identity after his name appeared in this newspaper yesterday.

“Yes, it’s true, but he asked for confidentiality,’’ Matthews told Kick.Off.com. “He has been in isolation and will be retested on Friday. We had three players and they are still in isolation pending retesting. We may have to play without them.

“I can’t say but will release their names after retest… not big names. Apparently Kuda was in Zimbabwe Herald as first Zim positive… that’s why I confirmed his name with you because it was already in the public domain without me.

“But, the other two, I can only tell you after they test negative.” As many countries grapple with a second wave of coronavirus cases, hundreds of footballers have flown thousands of miles around the world to play international fixtures.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has expressed concerns about the safety protocols in place to prevent players catching or spreading the virus on their travels. The club have seen their own mini outbreak after Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita all tested positive for Covid-19.

Shaqiri had already traveled to Switzerland, to report for international duty before the Swiss Football Association confirmed he had tested positive, raising the question about the wisdom of holding an international break during a pandemic.

The Ukrainian Football Association also confirmed on Tuesday that two of their players had tested positive ahead of a friendly match in the French capital of Paris, a city which had just closed bars, gyms and swimming pools for two weeks and raised the coronavirus alert to maximum following a spike in cases.

Under normal FIFA regulations, clubs are obliged to release players that are called up for international duty by their federations. Despite the ongoing pandemic, FIFA says those same obligations remain, though there are some exceptions.

For example, a club has the right to reject a players’ international call-up if they would be required to self-isolate for five days upon their return or where there are travel restrictions in either of the countries in question.

However, the UK government have ensured that top footballers would not have to quarantine on their return to the country by adding “international and domestic elite sportspersons” to a list of people exempt from self-isolation rules.

FIFPro’s general secretary, Jonas Baer-Hoffmann, told Reuters players should be able to refuse national team call-ups if they are concerned about travelling. “The players need to be able to make free decisions,” he said. “It’s a region heavily infected by the pandemic and there are certain COVID-19 restrictions and travel warnings.”

Several African countries, as well as Austria, were impacted during this international window after RB Salzburg announced they would not release players after three of their squad members tested positive for Covid-19.

Mali, Cameroon, Zambia, Austria and Hungary had all called up players from Salzburg’s squad before the club announced the positive tests, which came days after a Champions League play-off with Maccabi Tel Aviv, itself decimated by a spate of coronavirus cases.

Dutch club Ajax also barred African internationals — Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus, Moroccan pair Zakaria Labyad and Noussair Mazraoui, and Lassina Traore from Burkina Faso — to travel and join up with their national teams this week because they would have to quarantine on their return to the Netherlands, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, South African authorities have given the country’s FA permission to allow amateur football to resume with immediate effect. The South African Football Association could now be forced to reconsider their decision to call off the ABC Motsepe League season.

Man axes wife and children over paternity row

Man axes wife and children over paternity row. Innocent Chakabuda, allegedly struck his wife twice on the back of her head before turning it on his two children following a heated domestic dispute sparked by suspicions of infidelity.

In a spine-chilling incident that left people in Village 4 under Chief Svosve in Hwedza shocked, a man axed his wife and two children to death after she allegedly told him, he was not the biological father of the kids.

As if that was not enough, Chakabuda, downed pesticide in an attempt to take his own life after allegedly axing his wife Junior Dzonga, their children; Vongai and Anenyasha Chakabuda. The incident occurred on September 8, 2019.

On the day in question, Chakabuda had a misunderstanding with his wife on the suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair. It was when his wife told him that he was not the biological father of their two children.

Irked by his wife’s words, he went on to grab an axe, struck her twice on the back of her head before turning it on their children, whom he also attacked twice each on the back of their heads.

Chakabuda was then arrested. Yesterday, Chakabuda appeared at the High Court charged with three counts of murder.

Chakabuda, through his lawyer Mr Phanuel Mazhande of Mazhande Legal Practice, denied the charges when he appeared before Justice Erica Ndewere. In his defence prepared by Mr Mazhande, Chakabuda challenged admission of his warned and cautioned statement saying he gave it after being coerced.

Mr Mazhande raised issues on Chakabuda’s sanity and applied that he be examined by two Government medical doctors before trial commences. Justice Ndewere granted the application and ordered that Chakabuda returns to court on October 26 for trial.

In his defence Chakabuda admitted having marital problems with his wife. “As a result of this the accused was always under large degree of stress and pressure. “He will state that on the day in question an argument ensued after he had removed our child Vongai from where she was sleeping between him and he laid her down where she would normally sleep.

“The accused and his wife exchanged words until wife told him that both children were hers and not his. Before the conception of the first child the couple had conception problems,” he said.

Mr Mazhande, in the defence, said Chakabuda got angry and stormed outside the room after his wife told him that the children were not his. He said Chakabuda could not recollect as to what transpired afterwards.

“The accused will state that he remembers seeing his wife on the floor with blood on her head and also remembers seeing his two children also lying on the floor. He also remembers seeing an axe on the ground beside the three deceased.

“The accused will state that he has no recollection of exactly what he did that resulted in the deaths of the three,” he said. In his defence Chakabuda said he was shocked and confused upon realisation of what had happened and whilst in that state he ran into the kitchen, fetch tobacco pesticide and drank it.

“The accused will state that he drank the poison so as to end his life simply because the sight he had seen frightened him and he had no appreciation of what had taken place,” he said.

In his defence Chakabuda admitted to taking dagga since he was a teenager until the day he allegedly murdered his family. He also said his mother had a history of mental illness. “Further to this accused mother who is now late had a history of mental illness.

“This coupled with history of substance abuse as well as the shock of being informed that he may not be the father of his children may have triggered a state of temporary insanity or insane automatism,” he said. He is expected back in court on October 26 for trial after the under-going mental examination. Ms Junior Mugebe represented the State.

Nakamba need to move mountains at Villa

Nakamba need to move mountains at Villa. That Brazilian squad could even afford to leave talent worth a staggering US$171.218 million, featuring superstars from Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid, on the bench, in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier against Bolivia.

The mountains which Marvelous Nakamba must climb every week, to try and break into the Aston Villa starting XI, were drawn on Saturday when Douglas Luiz broke into an All-Star US$645.966 million Brazil first XI.

Manchester City ‘keeper, Ederson, Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, Everton forward Richarlison and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo could just get a place on the substitute’s bench as the five-time World Champions powered to a comprehensive 5-0 victory.

With Liverpool goalkeeper, Alison Becker, injured, Brazilian coach, Tite, went with Palmeiras ‘keeper, Weverton, one of the heroes of the team’s 2016 Olympic Games triumph. But, it was the quality of the infield players, which caught the eye.

The Brazilians sent in Marquinhos (US$37,10 million); Danilo (US$43,72million); captain Casemiro (US$8,28 million); Coutinho (US$136,91 million); Firminho (US$37,91 million); Neymar (US$259, 90 million); Everton (US$23,62 million); Thiago Silva (US$49,60 million); Luiz (US$19,56 million) and Lodi (US$29,53 million).

And, it’s that All-Star first XI, into which Luiz forced his way, in what is yet another confirmation of his rapid improvement, which showed how the midfielder has come of age. He has even forced his old club, Manchester City, to consider invoking a buy-back clause in his contract.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been fighting a personal battle, with the 26-year-old Warriors star, for the holding position in the Villa midfield, with the former having established himself, in recent months, as the first choice.

While Nakamba was the preferred choice for Villa manager, Dean Smith, before lockdown, things changed after Project Restart with Luiz taking full ownership of that critical position.

“The rise of Douglas Luiz continued on Saturday night as he made his first start for Brazil, who began their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with victory over Bolivia,’’ Villa reported on their official website.

“The midfielder was one of four Villa players to start their respective fixtures over the weekend, along with Marvelous Nakamba, Conor Hourihane and John McGinn.

“The Seleção got their campaign off to the perfect start, beating Bolivia 5-0 at the Neo Química Arena. “Douglas Luiz made his international debut as a substitute in November 2019, but this time he was in from the start for his competitive bow.

“Alongside Real Madrid’s Casemiro and Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho in midfield, the Villa star helped Tite’s side to control the game, completing 88 of his 93 attempted passes while creating two chances for his teammates.

“Marvelous Nakamba’s Zimbabwe travelled to Malawi for an international friendly on Sunday. “The midfielder started the game to make his 16th appearance for his country but chances were few and far between, with the game ending goalless.’’

Luiz is such hot property, right now, that Manchester City were even reported to be interested in getting him back during the last transfer window. “About Man City, I’ve been doing my job at Villa, I don’t really have conversations with City or Guardiola,” he told the Brazilian media ahead of the game against Bolivia.

“But it’s a job that went together, I had help from City with Villa to be able to play in the Premier League. “It’s a very good thing to be able to play there without any difficulty.”  City’s buy-back clause is set at £25m this summer and £30m the season after.

But, if there was anything that could be picked from Luiz’s graduation into Brazil’s All-Star first team, then it’s the message it sends to us about the tough hurdles which now lie in Nakamba’s path as he tries to fight his way back into the Villa starting XI.

It will be a strange world where someone, deemed good enough to make the Brazilian first XI, will not be seen as good enough to make the Villa starting XI.

“He may not be Aston Villa’s sporting director anymore, but there’s no questioning that Suso’s work, in signing Douglas Luiz on a permanent basis, was a stroke of genius,’’ blogger, Vijievan Jeevathayalan, wrote on the Football Fan Cast.

‘’The Midlands club brought in the midfielder for £15 million in the summer of 2019, and he has gone on to establish himself as a key part of Dean Smith’s side, both last season and at the beginning of this new one too.

“Lining up in a midfield three alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona stars Casemiro and Philippe Coutinho respectively, Luiz controlled the tempo of the game, recycling possession and playing it with precision both short and long.

“As per Sofascore, he had a game-high 107 touches, and also boasted another game-high of a 95% passing accuracy. The key thing to note is that Luiz didn’t just try and keep things simple or play it safe.

“Instead, he always looked to probe and move the ball forward, delivering two key passes (only Casemiro had more with three), and successfully completing all five of his attempted long balls.’’

It’s also a measure of how much Nakamba’s game has developed that he now has such a gem of a player as the one he must fight to get into the Villa first XI.

Their worlds could not have been more different.

While Luiz can line up alongside the likes of Casemiro and Coutinho, and learn from them, in his country’s midfield, Nakamba had to line up alongside the likes of Tafadzwa Chimwemwe, Tanaka Chinyahara and Tafadzwa Rusike, in the Warriors midfield on Sunday.

Nakamba featured for the Warriors in their goalless draw against the Flames in Blantyre in a game that was, for long periods, such a big yawn, it could barely be described as a friendly international.

The Zimbabwe international midfielder left Harare yesterday, just a day after that match in Malawi, and it could not be established whether he was going home to Bulawayo or was already on his way back to his base at Aston Villa.

Zacc commissioner challenges suspension

Zacc commissioner challenges suspension. In his court application for a declaratory order filed last week, Muchengwa said Justice Matanda-Moyo had no authority to suspend him, adding that that prerogative rests with President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the appointing authority.

Suspended Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) Commissioner, Frank Muchengwa, has approached the High Court seeking nullification of the verbal suspension from office, which he received from commission chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo.

Muchengwa was barred from accessing his office and removed from the commission’s WhatsApp group had his service pistol and personal security withdrawn. In his founding affidavit, Muchengwa argued that he was still a serving commissioner and entitled to personal security and access to his office.

“This is an application for a declaratory and subsequent order that the oral suspension given to the applicant (Frank Muchengwa) by the second respondent (Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo) on September 11, 2020 is declared null and void; consequently the first (Zacc) and second respondents are ordered against withdrawing the applicant’s security detail and service pistol and that the applicant should not be barred by the first and second respondents from accessing his office and preforming of his duties,” Muchengwa said.

Muchengwa said on September 8, 2020, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) wrote to him advising that it had resolved to suspend him in terms of section 187 (3) of the Constitution and that the resolution had been forwarded to Mnangagwa for consideration.

“On September 9, 2020 the second respondent in her capacity as the chairperson of the first respondent removed me from the WhatsApp group of fellow commissioners and ordered that I be barred from entering my office. On September 11, 2020 the second respondent purportedly acting on contents of the letter of September 8, 2020, proceeded to give me an oral suspension from my duties,” he said.

“I am advised by my legal practitioners which advice I accept to be true and correct that the purported oral suspension by the second respondent is null and void. Section 237 of the Constitution as read with section 183 provides for the procedure of removing a commissioner from his duties. That prerogative is the sole preserve of the President.”

Muchengwa said since the withdrawal of his personal security and service pistol, he had experienced three separate break-ins at the home, office and in his car.

“… I am still exposed to serious security risk. For example, there was a break-in at my house once, two in my car and once at my office. I reported the matters concerning the break-in at my house to police (CR38/01/20) the two break-ins in my car were reported to police under RRB4450263 on September 17, 2020 and there was a break-in at my office, and a report was made under (property book number 67/2020),” he said.

“Without a proper and lawful suspension in terms of the law, I still lawfully occupy the office of a commissioner and I am entitled to all attendant rights of the office. The purported suspension interferes with my right to work and consequently the right to personal security while working.”

The River has captivated the hearts of many South Africans as the telenovela seeks to display the cut-throat world of mining after the discovery of a diamond in Cullinan.

The acting on The River is what gained it’s 5-star rating from viewers so we can only imagine that the actors are content with their pockets for them to deliver such performances. Introduced to us in January 2018, it has continued to grow making it one of the most-watched shows in the country.

iHarare has released an estimate on how much the actors get paid on the show. Leading lady Lindiwe Dlamini played by Sindi Dlathu‘s salary was disclosed. Leading man who is the ying to Lindiwe’s yang Zweli Dikana played by the talented Hlomla Dandala, bags R45 000 per month.

The lowest-paid actors salaries are due to their minimal screen time and these are Tinah Mnumzana (Flora), Thapelo Sebogodi (Khabzela), and Matshepo Sekgopi (Dimpho) and their salaries range from R18 000 to R25 000 per month. Followed by Lunga Shabalala who plays Lindani, earns between R20 000 and R25 000

Veteran actor Presley Chweneyage who stars as Thuso ‘Cobra’ Mokoena, earns between R27 000 to R34 000 a month. He is the first son and the eldest child to Thato and Malefu. Another celebrated actor Sello Maake ka-Ncube gets paid between R25 000 to R35 000 a month.

Larona Moagi, Lawrence Maleka, Moshidi Motshegwa, and Don Mlangeni all earn between R25 000 to R30 00 a month. Tango Ncetezo gets between R23 000 to R32 000 while former Isidingo actress Shannon Esra is paid between R25 000 to R35 000 a month.

Set in Pretoria, The 1Magic drama series The River follows the lives of the Dlamini family as well as the Mokoenas who are arch-enemies. These two families from two completely different backgrounds are brought together but also divided after the discovery of a diamond in Pretoria.

Speaking on the telenovela’s authenticity, Warren Masemola told ZAlebs that The River offers something different to the South African entertainment industry.

“I believe what The River has done different, compared to what other productions have done in the past, is that it has introduced something fresh. The language on its own and the geography on its own is in the capital city – Pretoria. We’ve hardly seen that in the Southern hemisphere or South Africa to be specific, and it brings about a fresh language, which is really a dialect and not a language that is only spoken in Pretoria.

So culturally, I believe that this telenovela has done great in exporting and exposing the culture and the dialect that is in Pretoria. Either than that The River is a fresh telenovela that has already won Best Telenovela at the SAFTAS and mind you, they’re only in the second season of the show,” he said.

Bulawayo City Council blasts residents

Bulawayo City Council blasts residents. In its 2020-2024 strategic plan, the Council said: Citizenry Residents remain the primary stakeholders and partners-in -chief of the local authority. They continue to support Council programmes.

Bulawayo City Council has accused the City’s residents of being agitated and uncooperative with an appetite of taking the Council to court every time there is a dispute.

Yet, the simmering conditions of unemployment, informal and unsatisfactory lifestyles, coupled with polarized politics and tendency towards anti-establishment, protest culture have given rise to what has become a generally agitated and uncooperative brand of residents.

Radical advocacy has taken root in the community seemingly encouraging wanton non-cooperation with Council, a desire to evade Council obligations, and an overly litigious culture.

Mziwandile Ndlovu a Bulawayo activist blasted the Council saying, “It’s a sign of the times. @CityofBulawayo is performing poorly and the residents are rightfully agitated. They sound combative and cornered. They must do better to procure the cooperation of residents.”

Another Bulawayo resident Samu Khumalo said, “Dishonest and incompetent administrations blame everyone but themselves. Who puts such nonsense in a strategic plan?”

Godfrey Tsenengamu denied bail

Godfrey Tsenengamu denied bail. Magistrate Nduna on Tuesday denied Godfrey Tsenengamu bail saying the fact that he surrendered himself to police after some unidentified people stalked him shows that he was safe in prison than outside.

The magistrate also said the former ZANU PF youth league’s political commissar had spent three months evading police, therefore, he is not a good candidate for bail. Tsenengamu surrendered himself to the police Friday last week and was arrested for inciting public violence after he and many others encouraged the masses to participate in foiled 31 July anti-corruption protests.

The protests were being organised by Jacob Ngarivhume of opposition Transform Zimbabwe who was also arrested and detained before he was eventually released on bail.
Tsenengamu told the police during interrogations that strange men were following his family and harassing them demanding to know his whereabouts until he handed himself over to police last Friday.

The state used Tsenengamu’s report to argue that it was not safe for him to be outside the prison walls and magistrate Nduna agreed.

The Queen Mzansi actors who were fire by The Fergusons

The Fergusons are arguably one of Botswana’s most successful power couples, even though the two are based in South Africa and equally as famous there, they are still Botswana nationals. They have been in the entertainment industry for decades and really worked hard to get to where they are as production company owners.

This climb to the top has brought many challenges for Connie and Shona Ferguson however and continues to do so with the many scandals in the industry that the two have been involved in.

Award-winning actress, Vatiswa Ndara opened a can of worms after posting an open letter to the minister of Arts and culture, Nathi Mthethwa. In the letter, Vati didn’t only take a swipe at Connie and Shona Ferguson but also went on to highlight the general state of the Arts in South Africa. Her empowering and bold letter inspired other artists to come forward and share their horrifying experiences with the Fergusons and the entertainment industry in general.

The Fergusons decided to take legal action against Vatiswa and Keke Mphuti because of their public commentary about the treatment they received from them.

Keke Mphuthi has spoken out on the trauma she suffered at the hands of Ferguson Films, as she alleges the production company fired her for being pregnant, she also alleges how she almost miscarried during her pregnancy due to the stress caused by the production company. In a series of tweets, she mentions how she got fired after Shona Ferguson found out she was pregnant and claims to have a recording to serve as proof.

“As I said I have a 28min recording of the meeting we had that confirmed my stay as opposed me being fired.”

Rami confirmed her exit on Twitter after she had a fallout with the Fergusons, although there was no direct confrontation, their relationship went sour after TGOM weighed in on the Vatiswa Ndara exploitation saga. Rami found out that her character would be pulled off when the producers were not happy about Rami’s comments and also her actions of intervening on other actors’ working hours.

“Yes, TGOM’s stint on #TheQueenMzansi has come to an end. Unfortunately, I won’t be getting into details as advised by my legal team. I still have to finish shooting and I’m hoping to execute as excellently, exceptionally and professionally as I always have. #TGOMNATION forever❤”. Thank you for all the well wishes and blessings. It’s been a ride. We keep pushing and working because the #SHOWMUSTGOON no matter what.”

loyiso mcdonald

Dineo Langa also couldn’t escape the axe from the Fergusons, she made sure to set the record straight on what happened. When a follower asked her when she was coming back to the Queen, she said

“ang’buyi mina ngaxoshwa (l’m not coming back, l was fired).

Khanya Mkhangisa was fired from The Queen, allegedly because of her drunk-driving incident, last year, where a video surfaced of her intoxicated and getting arrested went viral on social media. Even though the entertainment star apologized, she was eventually axed. Mkangisa’s star was on the rise when she joined the popular show as Akhona, from a child star to an established actress on one of Mzansi’s most popular shows.

The Fergusons are very successful and have established themselves as a powerful production house in South Africa despite the many allegations against them.

We hope they tone it down on firing people, especially in the current financial climate.

President Mnangagwa admits to spying

President Mnangagwa admits to spying. This was admission to spying on the activists who have since been arrested and charged with faking their abduction in May this year. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said MDC Alliance activists Joana Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova staged their abduction adding that their movements were recorded.

Speaking to ZANU PF chairpersons of Zanu PF provincial women, youths and war veterans at the party headquarters in Harare on Monday, the president said: You see the fake abduction staged by this other party (MDC Alliance), false abductions, but because of ICT, we are now able to trace where they walked, slept and who they talked to, we have all that now.

You can’t refute it, we know at this minute, you were at this place and who did you make a phone call to. I also want to warn you that there are foreign embassies in this country, they create false narratives against us as government, against Zanu PF as a party, but again it is because you matter.

If you did not matter, they would not waste their time on you. The government recently published a CCTV footage which they claim contained the movements of the MDC trio to prove that they were not where they alleged to be at the time they were allegedly abducted.

Government critics have in the past claimed that they were under surveillance with suspected state security forces allegedly following them.

It is alleged that journalist Itai Dzamara was also being followed by suspected security forces who allegedly kidnapped him, he was never seen again.

Gqom artist TDK Macassette accused of stealing a song

Singer and songwriter Bruce Leigh has accused Gqom sensation TDK Macassette of stealing her song.

The musician, whose real name is Luyanda Shelembe, claims TDK’s single Mashobana is a butchered version of her last year song, uQekeqe.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Luyanda’s manager, Tshepo Nhlabatse, said: “We were made aware of the copyright infringement late last year when TDK performed the song.

“We looked it up on all social media digital platforms, but couldn’t find it until she recently dropped Mashobana, which is our song.

“She only changed the verses and the beat, but the chorus is the same as our song.”

Tshepo said when he approached TDK, whose real name is Thandeka Mkhwanazi, she asked him to send her an email, but never responded.

“Last Friday, I called TDK and told her the song was infringing on our copyright.

She asked me to send her an email, but never responded.

“She blocked my calls and blocked me on social media,” he claimed.

“Luyanda also tried calling her and they had a fight over the phone.

“She also blocked her.”

Tshepo said they spent a lot of time and money promoting their music.

“It’s devastating, especially because it’s a black person doing this to another black child while we’re trying to grow in an industry that’s already saturated.”

Tshepo told the People’s Paper they were planning to take legal action.

“We’ll meet our lawyers and find out exactly how to deal with this situation.” he said.

Responding to the allegations, TDK Macassette said she recorded the song last year.

“The song was recorded in February 2019 and they released theirs in May, so mine was recorded and released way before theirs,” she said.

“I’ve been performing the song since last year and I work way too hard for someone to try and use my brand to promote a song that doesn’t sound the same in terms of lyrics, rhythm, or instrumentals.

“This year has been full of negativity and I wouldn’t say something I don’t have proof of.”

She added that if BruceLeigh felt disappointed that she says she took her song when the song doesn’t sound the same.

Banks separate foreign currency accounts

Banks separate foreign currency accounts. This comes as most banks feel that the local FCAs are as good as RTGS accounts which are regulated by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and separating the accounts will make life easy for transactions. It also comes as most banks are failing to meet USD cash withdrawals for domestic nostros resulting in the creation of an alternative Nostro discount market.

Local banks have begun separating local and international Foreign Currency Accounts (FCAs) as the surrogate local FCAs appear to limit their clients from transacting freely.  Bankers Association of Zimbabwe (BAZ) president Ralph Watungwa said the latest development was not the official position from the organisation, but initiatives were being taken by individual banks in response to the market demands.

“Those decisions are made at bank-level and there is no collusion from the association at all. Each bank is doing what it thinks is best for their situation,” said Watungwa. In correspondence to clients, a leading commercial bank advised it had opened two forex separate accounts.

“Please be advised that a new account to cater for local USD RTGS transactions has been opened for you. The new account will be credited with incoming USD RTGS and your existing FCA will cater for all the USD cash deposits or incoming Telegraphic Transfers.

“Therefore, the existing FCA will still enable you to access forex cash withdrawals and process Telegraphic Transfers, while the new account will make it easier to transact locally,” wrote the bank to one of its clients.

Top economist John Robertson said the new measures by the banks was to be expected because depositors do not trust the Zimbabwe dollar yet.

“What the banks are doing is to be expected because they want to ring-fence foreign deposits and avoid mixing with the domestic Nostro accounts which are still to be fully trusted and might not be real money.”

A banker from a multi-national bank who refused to be identified confirmed they have also taken similar steps to separate local and international transactions. “The truth of the matter is that the two accounts are different because the local one is controlled by the RBZ, while the international account is autonomous and safe.

“I can confirm that our bank has taken the same steps as others so as to make our customers feel secure and comfortable when banking with us,” said the banker.

Government, through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the RBZ, re-introduced FCAs in 2018 while under pressure to safeguard investors’ earnings and deposits. This was when the central bank struggled to meet foreign remittances while foreign correspondent and intermediary banks ditched Zimbabwe.

FCAs which existed before were raided by the central bank back then and later rendered ineffective when the economy adopted a multi-currency regime in 2009 after a decade of economic stagnation and hyperinflation rendered the local dollar valueless.

The RBZ also engaged the African Export-Import Bank towards a US$500 million Nostro Stabilisation Guarantee Facility to provide FCA holders with the assurance that foreign currency shall be available on request. – Financial Express
