Legend Koffi Olomide mentions Ginimbi’s ex-wife Zodwa in his new song featuring Diamond Platinumz. Koffi Olomide and Diamonds Platinumz have just released a hit Rhumba song that is going to rock this festive season and many are very happy as this collaboration was overdue.

Many Zimbabweans are going to fall in love with this hit song for one main reason. I know we all Zimbabweans love Rhumba music and it can be seen or acknowledged by the way we play it at weddings but this time around we going to love this one for the reason that Koffi Olomide gets to mention our very own Zimbabwean Zodwa Mkandla in the song.

In the song, there is a part where the legend gives a shout out to Zodwa Mksndla he says and l quote “Zodwa in Harare”. This has already made many Zimbabweans fall in love with the track. Check the video part where her name is mentioned below

Many are saying because it is for the love Diamond Platinumz has for Zimbabwe after working with Jah Prayzah two times and also recently working with rapper King 98. The other fact could be that Diamonds baby mama is also best friends with Zodwa. Check the whole video of the song below

Popular Madzibaba going after DJ Ollah 7’s wife. Madzibaba James Nyore, 52, popularly known as ‘Musadare’ – a counsellor at Johane Masowe YeChishanu – was trapped by DJ Owen ‘Ollah 7’ Madondo and his wife Chipo Kuyengwa, 26, after demanding s.e.xual favours from the latter. A church counsellor has been shamed for trying to lure a church mate’s wife.

This is after he had mediated in their domestic disputes. Contacted for comment Nyore said he was in custody at St Mary’s Police Station after assaulting Madondo who had taken his relatives to the former’s house over the love messages.

“I do not want to say anything maybe the magistrate will decide when I get to court since I am now in police custody,” said Nyore. Chipo showed H-Metro how Nyore tried several times to lure her for s.e.x before she exposed the latter’s dishonesty to Madondo leading to a trap.

One of the messages sent by Nyore to Chipo reads; “Hapana kana chamakambondiitirawo to appreciate asi Mwari ndewemunhu wese.“Kamwechete hakawodze nyemba hapana anombozviziva. Choose what you want. Didn’t I tell you I want to feel the hug.”

Nyore was bashed at a lodge where he wanted to bed Chipo while promising to disclose Madondo’s shenanigans behind the wife’s back. “VaNyore musadare kumasowe anoyananisa vatendi uyezve ndiye akaitwa munyai pandakaroorwa saka munhu aigara achitigadzirisa pane zvatinenge takanganisirana nemurume,” said Chipo.

“It was on the 6th of November this year when he approached me saying he had something secret he wanted to share with me concerning the movements of my husband and I agreed. “On the 10th of November, he called me to enquire if I was free to see him for the issue he wanted to share with me and I agreed.

“Madondo pane umwe musikana akanga akuita take take naye nyaya yacho ikagadziriswa naNyore zvikapera saka akanditi zvava kutangazve saka kana ndichida kugadzirisirwa ndaifanira kumbomupa hug as a way of appreciating him. “One of the days he visited us and my husband asked me to drive him to his house since he was about to leave for work not knowing that Nyore had a dirty mind about me.

“Nyore went on to send messages demanding s.e.xual favours and that is the time I realised that he had no story to tell but wanted s.e.x. “I disclosed this to my husband and showed him all the messages he had been sending and we agreed to trap him.

“I agreed to meet him and he took me to a lodge while my husband was following and this is how we exposed his shenanigans,” said Chipo. Madondo confirmed the story yesterday saying Nyore was arrested for assaulting him together with his son Tatenda Nyore who is on the run.

“I want to thank my in-laws for a faithful wife and thank my wife Chipo for being faithful when my go between and church counsellor decided to sell the trust I gave him.

“Nyore has been a good man to me and he is the one who was the go between when I paid lobola; kana pamusha pake paCheza apa kuDomboshava ndakasvika naye.

“After trapping him I led my family to his house for discussions and he took his walking stick he uses at the shrine and assaulted me together with his son Tatenda after we exposed his shenanigans to his wife.

“I lodged a police report against him and is expected to appear in court tomorrow (today) and his daughter Kudzai is sending threatening messages overtaking the case to police,” said Madondo. Nyore’s wife was in tears and could not say anything about the matter.

Sulumani Chimbeti speaks on his new project: My new album is therapeutic. Titled Entanglement, the 38-year-old’s 10-track album will be finally launched this weekend, ushering fans into the festive mood. According to the English dictionary, entanglement refers to a complicated or comprising relationship or situation.

Suluman Chimbetu reckons his much-anticipated album due for release this Saturday is laden with therapeutic songs. And according to Sulu – as the youth icon is fondly known – he has found the painkiller to heal bleeding souls and hearts through music. “In my new album, I am simply giving people the therapy they need after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that we have found ourselves in.

“Such trying times call for people who have ideas and messages that heal the bleeding hearts to come together and as an artist, this is what I am trying to preach in my new album. “I have also tackled the issue of love as well as social commentary since it’s relevant for our livelihood.

“I have done my best to ensure that I give my fans stuff of superior quality and not a half-baked project. “I have never doubted my mojo and on this album, I have worked with a number of producers namely Oscar Chamba, Knoweldge Nkoma, Vhuyani Kahari and Oskid.

“The album carries 10 tracks namely Fara Nezvako, Bvuma Kusara, Kunda Zimbabwe, Chinyenye, Moyo Wangu, Pungwe, Africa, Mukoma Wangu, Moyo Wangu (Instrumental) and Wandirwadzisa,” he said.

Asked how he was managing at a time he was committed with a number of ambassadorial roles, he said: “I’m just used to working under pressure and any weather so I’m still the same Sulu people used to know.

“To be, every challenge to me is a blessing and as we say in vernacular, hapana gomo risingakwirike.” Sulu who is uncomfortable being compared to other artistes or Chimbetus of songs, continued:

“There is no way you can change Dynamos to CAPS United or virce vesa. Dynamos will always be Dynamos while CAPS United will always be CAPS United.

“To haters who have been backbiting me, I just thank them because each time they demonise me it’s a point gained.” Regard the launch, he added: “We are going to launch it online via social media pages to be availed soon but we will hold a mini function at Mwanga Lodge.

“At the private launch, we do expect less than 50 guests and it will be strictly by invitation while fans will have to catch all the action online. “I will also unveil two albums for Kunda Zimbabwe and Bvuma Kusara will the view to send them for regional channels to be screened.

“On that note, I would to assure our fans in diaspora that our music will be available on I-Tunes, Spotify among other platforms to ensure that we reach out to many fans.” Besides Entanglement, Sulu boasts of other polished studio albums namely Ndomusiya Nani released in 2007.

In the year 2008, he released Reverse, which was followed by Non-Stop (2010), Syllabus (2012), Gunship (2014) and Jamboree in 2016. Sulu has two DVDs for Ndomusiya Nani and Syllabus, which makes his discography complete.

Drama as nephew flaunts privates to aunt. Miriam Chisvo made the revelation at the magistrate’s court where she narrated the harassment perpetrated by her late sister’s son Michael Chinamano. A Harare woman on Monday made sensational claims that her nephew has flaunted his manh00d in her face several times.

Chisvo was seeking protection from the courts. She told the court that Chinamano was also forcing her out of a property left behind by her late parents.

“He is my late sister’s son and he is making me suffer for inheriting my parents’ property. “Whenever he gets drunk he pulls down his pants and flaunts his manh00d in my face, I don’t know his intentions anymore,” Chisvo claimed.

She added that; “He has been threatening to burn me in the house and sometimes locks the house as early as 5 am when he lives for work. “I no longer feel safe in my home, sometimes he tempers with electric cables so that I get electric shocks.

“He buys a special beer that he drinks with friends every day after work when he gets drunk he insults me and calls me all sorts of names,” she said. Chisvo claimed her nephew forcibly occupied their kitchen which he has turned into a bedroom and always locks every day at 5 am.

Chinamano counterclaimed that his aunt was making up stories because of an existing rift between them. “All she is saying is made up, there is no truth in it except that we both sometimes insult each other.

“We have been having problems ever since my mother’s death, she no longer wants me at the house and she is doing everything to achieve that. “She has already caused a rift between me and my sisters and restricted a grown man like me and my belongings in a small kitchen,” said Chinamano.

However, Chinamano later consented to the granting of protection against him.  Presiding over the matter, magistrate Meenal Narotum granted the application by consent refraining Chinamano from verbally, physically or threatening to harass his aunt.

Zimbos scoff at Mbuya Nehanda’s statue: That’s a Slay Queen

Zimbos scoff at Mbuya Nehanda’s statue: That’s a Slay Queen. Some Zimbabweans have taken to Twitter to scoff at the Mbuya Nehanda statue following President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visit to Nyati Gallery near Snake Park, where the statue is being made by sculptor David Mutasa.

On Tuesday, President Mnangagwa said the construction of the statue is important as it shows future generations that the country has a rich history of liberation heroes. He tweeted: Yesterday we celebrated our past heroes and our future champions. The construction of the monument in honour Mbuya Nehanda is nearing completion.

It is vital that we show to our children and grandchildren that Zimbabwe has a rich history of heroes that fought for our freedom. We have gleaned some of the critical views expressed on Twitter by Zimbabweans about the erection of the monument.

Elnathan Chiteve: That Mbuya Nehanda statue was eating a lot. She has gained a looooooottaaaa weight.

Alex Magaisa: The sculptor might as well have added a Brazilian!

Fadzayi Mahere: If it’s genuinely about history, revamp the History curriculum in schools to ensure an unadulterated, uncorrupted & apolitical version of History is taught to learners. This curriculum must be set by an independent panel. This statue is an unproductive waste of resources.

Instead of wasting money on a statue that won’t improve people’s lives, Mbuya Nehanda could’ve been better commemorated by increasing funding to Mbuya Nehanda Maternity. Why waste money like this in a nation where millions are food insecure & maternal mortality remains a scourge?

Hopewell Chin’ono: “The sculptor might as well have added a Brazilian (hair),” joked UK based Zimbabwean academic and lawyer, Alex Magaisa @Wamagaisa Millions of dollars have been sunk in the making of the Nehanda statue whilst women are dying giving birth at Mbuya Nehanda Hospital lacking basics.

Zenzele: Building statues when we have no Covid isolation centres.#Asakhe

Chief Chikos: You spend millions building a stage to put a statue then you come up with a fake statue of Mbuya Nehanda.

Nkululeko Sibanda: I saw pictures of you visiting a statue of some Mbuya, someone said its Mbuya Mnangagwa (not sure if it’s true), I hope they don’t rig and put her up as a decoy Mbuya Nehanda.

Kunta-Kinte: This statue should be called Mbuya “Nehanda the Slay Queen”. Surely this statue does not resemble the mbuya nehanda we were told and in pictures. We are distorting history by erecting that one

SA businesses welcome reopening of Beitbridge Border Post. Rudzani Muleya, a Musina entrepreneur told CAJ News Africa that Zimbabweans are their chief customers and with the border closed, local businesses had been grounded.

South African small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have welcomed the reopening of the country’s border with Zimbabwe as its closure in March created ghost towns of border towns such Musina, Louis Trichardt, Polokwane and Ṱhohoyanḓou. Said Muleya:

Without Zimbabweans coming to Musina, Louis Trichardt, Polokwane and Ṱhohoyanḓou, local businesses in Limpopo Province cannot be the same.

Zimbabweans are our chief customers. They possess buying power that transforms our economy. Another South African entrepreneur, Shalati Chauke, said Zimbabweans are the economic pillars in Limpopo province as the economy and the economy bled a lot of jobs during the COVID-19.

The closure of the Beitbridge border post, the busiest in Sub-Saharan Africa, as part of efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus, affected SMEs in South Africa.

Zimbabwe has become a huge retailer for South African manufactured goods as a high number of Zimbabweans cross the border to buy some goods that are not always available in their country.

Impala Car Rentals issue statement on being owned by CIO rumours. In a letter to The NewsHawks, the online publication that published the story linking the company to the CIO, Impala’s lawyers, Mudimu Law Chambers, cited twelve allegations carried by the story which they refuted, calling them lies.

Impala Car Rental, a car hire company whose vehicle was used in the abduction of university student Tawanda Muchehiwa by suspected State agents in July this year has refuted a report claiming that it is owned by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

Drax Consult SAGL representer Delish Nguwaya removed from remand. In his ruling, Nduna pointed out the fact that Nguwaya has been remanded 10 times without trial, the State was seeking for another postponement. Said Nduna: The State alleged that the case involved extraterritorial investigations and as for now nothing has been done.

Controversial businessman Delish Nguwaya was on Tuesday removed from remand by Harare magistrate Ngoni Nduna.

The State had cited the COVID-19 pandemic as a restriction for them to conduct extra-territorial investigations. … It seems the State has no idea why it needs further remand for. Magistrate Nduna further ruled that the State proceeds by way of summons.

Nguwaya was arrested in June this year after he allegedly misled government into believing that his company Drax International, also known as Drax Consult SAGL, was a medical firm and could supply COVID-19 equipment to the Health ministry.

Meanwhile, investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono said the removal of Nguwaya from remand is the end of the case as he predicted on 15 June. He posted on Facebook:

Surprise surprise, Delish Nguwaya has been removed from remand today. I am not a prophet, but it was clear that Delish was only a front for powerful people!

I languished in jail for 62 days, the looters are walking! Yatofa nyaya yeDrax!!!! These are the real issues that affect your lives, citizens! This is where your discussions should be not comedy and gossip! It is your money that is being stolen. In June Chin’ono wrote on Twitter:

the court aginst Delish Nguwaya will collapse because the charges are built on lies. The court case is deliberately meant to collapse in order to protect Obadiah Moyo and the real owners of the looting. Nguwaya doesn’t have the power to order the State to use Drax. Who did?

Bomb scare at Parliament building. Clerk of Parliament Kennedy Chokuda said security agents who attended the object ascertained that it was not a bomb but a harmless thing that had been forgotten by its owner.

The entrance to Parliament building along Kwame Nkrumah in Harare was briefly cordoned off on Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious-looking metal container was detected.  Said Chokuda:

Alert security details at the entrance saw the suspicious container that had been left unattended and immediately alerted us. We quickly called in security agents who managed to ascertain that it was harmless while its owner who had forgotten it at the entrance was also identified.

Earlier on Tuesday, former Finance Minister Tendai Biti, who chairs the Public Accounts Committee, tweeted about the “strange silver” object. He wrote:

We have just finished a Public Accounts Committee at Parliament. Regrettably, there is a bomb scare at same. There is a strange silver box left outside the pavement in Kwame Nkurumah Avenue. We pray for safety and peace. The right to life is sacrosanct

Chokuda further revealed that the entrance to Parliament has since been re-opened to legislators and visitors.

Corrupt and arrogant traffic cops on viral video identified. In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations into the undated video recording are in full swing.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that it has identified the police officer holding wads of USD cash in a video which went viral on social media recently. He said:

The ZRP does not condone acts of criminality which include corruption by police officers on deployment for various duties. In this regard, the ZRP is investigating a video which went viral on social media of a police officer seen counting some wads of USD notes whilst another is on WhatsApp.

Nyathi said it is not clear if the video is recent or not as the ZRP no longer accepts deposit fines on a cash basis at roadblocks or other checkpoints. He added: Meanwhile, the ZRP has identified the police officer involved in the ZRP Braeside incident which went viral on social media recently.

Investigations are now in full swing with disciplinary measures being put in motion. The ZRP appreciates and applauds the public for raising concern over the two video clips.

Liverpool beat Ajax 1 – 0 to top group D. Andre Onana misjudged the flight of Neco Williams’ cross and 19-year-old midfielder Jones took advantage to score with the outside of his right foot.

Curtis Jones scored his first Champions League goal after a horrific goalkeeping mistake as Liverpool beat Ajax to win Group D and secure a place in the last 16.

Caoimhin Kelleher, deputising for first-choice keeper Alisson who was missing with a hamstring injury, also played his part in Liverpool’s win, a one-handed stop to deny Noussair Mazraoui the pick of his saves.

Former Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen wasted a great chance for the visitors and David Neres hit the woodwork.

Jones also rattled a post before his goal ensured Liverpool, with one game to spare, joined Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea in the knockout stage.

FC Porto, Man City play a goalless draw. It seemed that after a frustrating 80 minutes substitute Gabriel Jesus had broken the deadlock when he tapped home after his initial header had been saved, but the effort was ruled out because Joao Cancelo was offside.

Manchester City had a late goal against Porto ruled out but a draw was enough for them to secure top spot in Group C.

The rest of the match saw exceptional goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin and his deep-lying five-man defence soak up incessant pressure from Pep Guardiola’s side, who came into the match having put five goals past Burnley at the weekend and with a 100% record in the group.

The Argentine keeper made three superb saves. He twice denied Spanish forward Ferran Torres, pushing one effort wide of the post in the first half before blocking a spectacular overhead kick after the break.

Porto’s stopper also denied Raheem Sterling by rushing out to block his attempt on goal. The England winger went close again when he cut in and fired a low shot which was cleared off the line by Zaidu Sanusi.

Shakhtar Donetsk shock Madrid with a 2 – 0 win . The 13-time European champions are third in Group B with one game to play. Dentinho and Manor Solomon struck in the second half for Shakhtar, who won the reverse fixture 3-2 in Madrid.

Real Madrid’s hopes of reaching the Champions League last 16 for a 24th consecutive season hang in the balance after Zinedine Zidane’s side were beaten again by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Borussia Monchengladbach can qualify as group winners with victory over winless Inter Milan later (20:00 GMT).The Spanish champions, currently fourth in La Liga, were without injured pair Eden Hazard and captain Sergio Ramos but welcomed back talisman Karim Benzema for their return to the stadium where they were last crowned European champions in 2018.

Real started well as Marco Asensio hit the post after five minutes and Benzema drew goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin into action.

Trubin then tipped over from Asensio’s powerful shot before half-time and again denied Benzema, before substitute Dentinho pounced on Raphael Varane’s error to score with the hosts’ second shot on target after 57 minutes.

Rather than retreat, Shakhtar pushed for a second and got their reward eight minutes from time when Solomon fired into the bottom corner.

Shakhtar had not scored in three group games since beating Real in October and conceded a total of 10 goals in heavy back-to-back defeats by leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.

But the Ukrainian side, with their superior head-to-head record, now have the upper hand on Real going into next week’s final round of fixtures.

An early exit for Real?
Zidane’s side have struggled for consistency this season and suffered a shock 2-1 defeat by Alaves in La Liga on Saturday, extending their winless domestic run to three matches.

Real endured a nightmare start to their European campaign as they followed up their humiliating defeat by a second-string Shakhtar side with a 2-2 draw away to Monchengladbach, courtesy of a dramatic late fightback.

Consecutive victories over Inter Milan looked to have rescued the La Liga side, but another famous victory for Luis Castro’s side has blown qualification for the knockout stages wide open.

Four victories in their past 11 games in all competitions represents a concerning run of form for Zidane’s men, who sit seven points adrift of leaders Real Sociedad in Spain, albeit with a game in hand.

They now face the very real prospect of an unthinkable early exit from Europe’s elite club competition heading into their final group match against Monchengladbach next Wednesday.

Super-sub Solomon – the stats

  • With two defeats, Real Madrid have lost as many group games in the Champions League this season as they did under Zinedine Zidane over the 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2019-20 campaigns combined, when they lost two of 18.
  • Shakhtar Donetsk have won just two of their past nine matches in the Champions League, both victories coming against Real Madrid.
  • Three of Manor Solomon’s four Champions League goals have come as a substitute, with two arriving against Real Madrid this season.
  • Since the start of last season, Raphael Varane has made four errors leading to a goal in the Champions League, more than any other player.
  • Karim Benzema made his 124th appearance in the Champions League, the joint-10th most in the competition’s history.

Low-key start to land borders reopening

Low-key start to land borders reopening. At Beitbridge, the busiest border post, an official said by noon, 93 travellers had left Zimbabwe while 116 entered. Strict Covid-19 screening was being carried on all those leaving or entering the country. Travellers are required to have a certificate valid for 48 hours stating they tested negative.

The Plumtree, Beitbridge, Victoria Falls, Kariba, Chirundu and Forbes border posts re-opened as planned at 6 am yesterday for private vehicles and pedestrians, but there was only a trickle of people going through rigorous health protocols.

Zimbabwe had suspended passenger traffic through its borders from March to control the spread of Covid-19 and until yesterday, only commercial cargo, returning residents, bodies for burial, diplomats and Government officials were allowed to pass through the border posts.

Even now, those wanting to travel by bus will have to wait until the first quarter of next year. At Beitbridge yesterday, security had been beefed up at all entry and exit points and travellers without valid travel documents were being turned away.

In addition, use of foot baths, automated thermometers and hand basins was compulsory. Traffic was split into light motor vehicles, buses, light commercial and heavy-duty trucks, and this was strictly enforced by immigration guards and a private security company engaged by Zimra.

According to one border official: “Activity is still low. Our understanding is that most travellers could have adopted a wait and see attitude considering the rigorous screening processes relating to Covid-19 protocols,” said the source. The Assistant Immigration officer-in-charge of Beitbridge, Mr Nqobile Ncube was not available for comment.

One of the people turned away for having an invalid passport, Mr Obey Makwara, said: “I am stranded. I have a valid permit to be in South Africa, but unfortunately, my passport expired last month, so I was not allowed to leave the country. I will have to wait for a new passport and I have since made an application”.

Another traveller who preferred not to be named said the US$60 charged by private laboratories for a Covid-19 test was high. The certificate requirement is likely to discourage casual visits. Mr Panashe Nkosi said the border clearing processes had greatly improved compared to the last six years.

“It’s pleasing to note that the South African and Zimbabwean governments are taking the pandemic seriously judging by the level of preparedness on the ground. “The border processes are excellent and seamless. It’s a great experience for me. I had not come home by road in the past six years,” he said.

Ms Lucia Chidenga said she was happy to be home to reunite with her family after almost two years. Several cross border drivers said they were impressed with the clearance process and the separation of traffic.

“We haven’t had unnecessary delays and we are always engaging authorities where there are challenges and hope to maintain that relationship,” said Mr Tawanda Takezawa, who chairs the association for Beitbridge Cross Border Drivers. It was also all systems go at Plumtree, where officials said traffic was very low. “Everything is in place, but we have a low traffic. We will keep monitoring,” said the source.

Activity at Forbes-Machipanda Border Post was still low with commercial trucks making up the bulk of the traffic passing through the port of entry.

There were very few people seeking to cross the border into Mozambique and according to sources, the few who had come through had not managed to pass through by 11 am. This was because the Mozambican authorities had not yet opened for motorists and pedestrians saying they were still waiting for authorisation from their immigration head office in Maputo.Beitbridge Border Post

On the Zimbabwean side, authorities were enforcing strict Covid-19 prevention measures with screening being done in both the departure and arrival lounges. Government has not yet set up a Covid-19 testing centre at the port of entry and travellers are expected to bring a valid Covid-19 certificate. The Mozambican side will also be demanding the same.

At Chirundu and Kariba, the volume of vehicular and human traffic was also low on the first day of the borders being reopened. A few people made inquiries at Chirundu on the requirements to cross into Zambia with possession of a valid Covid-19 certificate being the sticky issue for most.

Regional immigration officer Mr Joshua Chibundu said there was no change in traffic as they reopened the border. “Traffic is very low on the first day and I think people are still to accept that they are indeed open,” said Mr Chibundu.

“The few people who came were only making inquiries and on our side we are ready to assist anyone who has a valid Covid-19 certificate issued by Port Health.”

The situation was the same at Kariba Border Post amid calls for a special dispensation for day trippers who cross into either Zambia or Zimbabwe regularly owing to historical ties and trade.

People from the two countries travel to buy and sell wares frequently and the cost of securing a Covid-19 certificate appeared prohibitive. Officials from Zimbabwe and Zambia met yesterday to come up with recommendations for the normalisation of travel between the two countries.

The Victoria Falls border also opened to the public and people could cross into either Zimbabwe or Zambia if they had valid Covid-19 certificates.

Scores of pedestrians, especially Zambian hawkers, were turned away after being told they had to be in possession of a valid passport and Covid-19 negative certificate to be able to cross. Most of them were selling clothes and shoes.

There were scores of touts between the Zimbabwe border and bridge where they usually mill around waiting for border jumpers and smugglers who they help to cross illegally.

Security personnel were stopping and searching haulage trucks at the bridge to check for illegal travellers. Acting Hwange District Medical Officer Dr Fungai Musunami-Mvura said necessary Covid-19 health protocols had been set up at the border where a port health centre was opened.

A sanitising booth was at the entrance to the rainforest. Officials at the rainforest said a few international tourists visited the tourist attraction from Livingstone.

New lockdown regulations: Gatherings limit revised to 100

New lockdown regulations: Gatherings limit revised to 100. Announcing the changes after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said there had been confusion among the public over just how many people were allowed to attend gatherings, with different maximums set for different types.

The maximum limit at any gathering, regardless of what it is for, has now been set at 100, and restaurants can now stay open until 8 pm, as Government continues to open society and the economy while maintaining the guard against the Covid-19 threat.

To simplify the system Cabinet had agreed to set the maximum at 100, regardless of what the gathering was for. This was the maximum for some types of gathering, while others had been kept at a lower limit. Other existing public health regulations make it clear that public health regulations have to be followed at all gatherings, regardless of how many people attend.

The new limits should help people avoid violations at weddings and church services in particular. Restaurants had to close at 6.30 pm until the latest easing.

Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi’s 68th album nears completion

Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi’s 68th album nears completion. Tuku died last year on January 23 at the age of 66 after a long battle with diabetes. He had 67 albums under his belt. The wife of the late superstar and national hero Oliver Mtukudzi, Daisy, has hinted that the music icon’s 68th album is near completion, though it is still difficult to master some of the songs because of the absence of his vocals.

Clad in shimmering gold and nude dress with a crown on her head, Daisy made the revelation during Agatha Murudzwa’s album launch held at a local hotel last Friday. “We are busy now mastering Tuku’s unfinished album,” she said. “The challenge we are facing now is the voice on some of the songs because he didn’t finish recording the album after he started feeling unwell.

Praising Murudzwa’s efforts, Daisy said it is hard to come up with an album. “Being a musician is a tough job,” said Daisy. “I have learnt that from my husband, especially when he was about to release an album. I congratulate Agatha for coming up with her 13-track album.

“As a married woman, you are faced with a lot of responsibilities and you also want to be in the studio. My husband skipped sleeping when he was recording. “It was very difficult for him. I remember sometimes he could sleep in the studio, you can ask Bothwell Nyamhondera what the two went through in the early 1990s.

“I had to accept that I married a musician and that is was part of the package,” Daisy said they started understanding and appreciating that music actually pays in the late 1990s.

“He was always in the studio, perfecting his songs to entertain, that is why all these albums were good,” she said. “Sometimes he would produce two albums in a year. We remained strong and in the 1990s, I could see the profits that music was actually bringing.”

Daisy said it takes bravery to produce music and artistes should not be discouraged. She said piracy was continuing to affect the music industry and those buying the pirated discs should respect the time, energy and resources put together in the artistes.

Tuku’s last album was “Hany’Ga” — which he defined as “concern”, and had songs like “Bopoto”, “Inyasha”, “Dehenya”, “Wanza Sori” and“Inombotangaseyi?” Tuku championed the end to child marriages, resulting in him composing the song “Haasati Aziva (You can’t pledge your child for marriage).”

During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, Mtukudzi once authored an opinion in The Herald newspaper, calling for an end to this harmful practice.
