LP gas prices increase in response to new forex rules

LP gas prices increase in response to new forex rules. Under SI127, the government imposed fines on companies that set prices above the official exchange rate or sell their products exclusively in forex. Several businesses have increased the forex prices of goods and services in response to Statutory Instrument 127 of 2021.

A snap survey by Pindula News showed that retailers have hiked the price of LP gas since the government announced the new regulations last week. Zuva Petroleum raised its price from US$1.35 to $1.70 per kilogramme. “We raised our prices 3 days ago,” said the attendant.

We also asked one passer-by about the recent developments and he said all the retailers in Sunway City were selling the product at US$2/kg. He said: At US $1.70, the Zuva price is actually much cheaper than all the gas retailers in our area of Sunway City. All the retailers there are now selling for $2, since the weekend.

At the branch we visited, the attendant said their supervisors ordered them not to accept Zimbabwe dollars (Swipe or EcoCash) anymore. Another LP gas retailer, EnviroGas raised the price last Friday from US$1.25 to US$2.00 per kilogramme.

However, an attendant at EnviroGas confirmed they were still accepting Zimbabwe dollars (swipe) and that the price in local currency had increased from $165 per kilogramme to $175.

The Zim dollar price increase is therefore much smaller (6%) compared to the USD increase (60%). EnviroGas had, however, run out of the product, a sign that consumers were probably rushing for their much cheaper Zim dollar price.

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) has since called for the immediate suspension of Statutory Instrument 127 of 2021 saying the new law threatens the progress industry had made towards recovery.

MultiChoice talent factory class of 2022 entries now open. Now approaching its third year, the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy is thrilled to announce calls for applications for its sought-after film and TV training programme!

Applications are open from 1 June to 30 June 2021 and are to be completed on…

https://cte.multichoicetalentfactory.com/Home/MTFHome

The call is open to all emerging filmmakers with either some industry experience or a relevant post-school qualification in film to apply for this exciting opportunity to hone their television and film production skills. Yolisa Phahle, MultiChoice Group CEO of General Entertainment & Connected Video, said:

The MTF Academy is our commitment to the future of our Industry and gives young Africans the chance to hone their television and film production skills through a world-class training programme. After two successful years, we’re proud to announce a new call to entry and look forward to meeting the next generation of African filmmakers.

Launched in May 2018, the MTF Academy has so far given 120 students the chance to harness their expertise in film and TV, moulding them into skilled industry professionals.

The Class of 2020 set a precedent as the first cohort of students to work during a pandemic. As a result, the programme was extended from 12 to 18 months. This additional time allowed the students to graduate with two qualifications as opposed to one.

Despite adapting to the Covid-19 restrictions, the Class of 2020 had other opportunities to shine: they were active participants during the virtual MTF Masterclass sessions and worked on the global Pledge to Pause PSAs for the United Nations Verified campaign.

They also got to make short films in their home countries which launched as part of the ‘Colours of Africa’ series airing on Showmax and M-Net AfroCinema pop-up channel as part of the Africa Month campaign in May.

Like previous years, all 60 students alongside select members of the public will get to participate in the MTF Masterclasses, which are powered by various industry partners including Dolby, CBS Justice and Jasco Broadcast Solutions offering AVID software masterclasses to name a few.

The illustrious New York Film Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (NYFA) continues its commitment as an MTF Masterclasses partner and award its annual 8 weeks NYFA Scholarship at the Academy in New York to the top-performing student from each region. Cheryl Uys-Allie, Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory initiative said:

The Covid-19 pandemic was undoubtedly a difficult challenge both for all involved in keeping the MTF Academy programme going as well as the students.

The unwavering support from stakeholders, partners and students has nevertheless been overwhelming. We couldn’t be more excited to have reached our third year as one of the MultiChoice Group’s anchor shared value initiatives directly investing in the next generation of African storytellers.

Former Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Tinashe Kambarami thrown out of full council meeting. The Supreme Court reinstated the former Ward 3 councillor as Bulawayo’s Deputy Mayor last week and he came for the full council meeting on the basis of the ruling. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mlandu Ncube left his designated seat in the council meeting as Kambarami moved to occupy it, claiming it was rightfully his place.

Former Bulawayo deputy mayor, Tinashe Kambarami was on Wednesday afternoon ejected from council chambers by Bulawayo City Council security personnel after he turned up for a full council meeting.

The mayor, Cllr Solomon Mguni and the town clerk, Christopher Dube were however of the view that Kambarami no longer had any standing in the local authority. Kambarami said:

I have been reinstated, you all have the judgement, I am back in the. You are not above the law. The judgement was served to the Chamber Secretary (Mrs Sikhangele Zhou), she is aware of it, I am not going anywhere.

Cllr Mguni said Kambarami was an intruder and ordered security to remove him from the meeting. Said Mguni:

I think there is an intruder in the house, I will ask the chamber secretary to ask the colleague or the gentleman outside the room before we proceed, council has not received anything to the effect that he must be in attendance.

Whatever issues he has will be resolved outside the meeting. Chief security officer can you remove him before we proceed. Ward 24 councillor, Arnold Batirai was reportedly the only one who voiced his support for Kambarami to attend the meeting. Kambarami was later ejected from the council meeting by seven council security officers.

Kambarami was among seven councillors from Bulawayo who were recalled by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T. He insisted that his case was different from the six other councillors and vowed to approach the courts to force Council to allow him to take back his seat.

On fire Prince Dube signs contract extension with his Tanzanian team. Azam announced Dube’s contract extension on Tuesday and declared that they had no intentions of selling the striker anytime soon.

Warriors striker Prince Dube has extended his contract with Tanzanian club Azam by two years. The club said in a statement: We are excited to enter a new two-year contract with our Zimbabwe international striker Prince Dube. That contract will make Dube continue inside the Azam Complex until 2024.

Dube, whom we signed this season, has been our key player so far and is our leading scorer in the Mainland League with 14 goals, and apart from that, he has managed 17 goals for the team in all competitions, with the other three coming in the FA Cup.

Fear those liars outside there, Dube is going nowhere, he is here at Azam Complex. Highlanders sold Dube to Azam in August 2020 for a reported US$50 000 fee and inserted a clause in the deal that entitles them to 30 per cent of the amount the Tanzanian club sells him for.

Tanzanian premiership champions Simba SC were reportedly interested in the 23-year-old Zimbabwean international following his goal-scoring streak for the “Ice-cream makers”.

Azam sit third on the league table with 60 points with four games left while Simba are left with nine games and lead the pack with 64 points.

Zim cash-in-transit vehicles officers using toy guns

Zim cash-in-transit vehicles officers using toy guns. Officer commanding Bulawayo province Commissioner Patton Mbangwa told journalists that at least 10 security companies in the city had fallen victim to armed robbers in the past few weeks.

Bulawayo’s top cop has accused private security firms of using toy guns to scare away criminals resulting in armed robberies involving cash-in-transit duties. He said:

There is a security company that actually gave its guards a toy gun (when) transporting cash, a toy pistol and it’s your money that is being guarded. We are saying security people should shoot at criminals.

If you have guns, pistols, you should shoot at those people, shoot the cars, their tyres, you should disable those criminals. We want to have a paradigm shift in terms of the way our security teams operate. They should operate in such a way that we safeguard what we are given.

Let’s not just be a security company by name but let us be serious security companies. You might be aware that one of our colleagues, Romicon Security, who are the ones who were robbed the other day, were ferrying people’s money in a kombi.

Obviously, that alone shows that that security company is not serious. These are things that we want to tackle. We are saying we should have armoured vehicles because we are carrying money and people know that.

We should harden the target; criminals should not just take that money by merely approaching your vehicle. That thing (kombi) you could not even make a good escape.

The latest high-profile armed robbery incident in Bulawayo occurred last Thursday when an armed gang seized seven boxes full of an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing a cash-in-transit vehicle outside a Choppies Supermarket in Parklands.

Young female motocross rider Tanya Muzinda: Africans don’t deserve wheelchair-bound leaders

Young female motocross rider Tanya Muzinda: Africans don’t deserve wheelchair-bound leaders. Tanyaradzwa Muzinda (16), said it is psychological murder for young people to be led by 80-year-olds who are wheelchair-bound. She tweeted: Africa has Young People, half of them are below 20 years old & the average age of its leaders is 60-65 years.

Zimbabwean motocross rider Tanyaradzwa Muzinda said it not right that African countries are led by old people when the majority of their people are young. It’s a big joke to have a President starting a new term @80 years & wheelchair-bound. Imposing old people to lead us where? To the Grave!! It’s a psychological murder. Muzinda’s tweet generated mixed responses with some commentators expressing their disapproval. One Cde Never Maswerasei said:

I totally understand your zeal as young people but you will have to be rational & agree that it’s the natural order of life that those older will always constitute the majority of our leaders. It is the same set-up as in a family where parents head the family and not their children.

Ptivu concurred with Muzinda, saying it is even against African culture for someone to insist on leading when they are in the twilight of their life. Wrote Ptivu:

In organised families with a rational thinking father, the old man will, at one point hands over the running of family affairs to the elder son. It is against our culture to remain in position wachembera. Our culture has clear succession plans.

Prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono wrote: This is a 16-year-old, smart & visionary! Yet in the comments section, you will find some dimwits asking her about Queen Elizabeth who is not a President and Joe Biden who is democratically elected and follows his country’s constitution! I am glad that she represents young folks

Paul Chisveto said: In functional families, older parents relegate themselves voluntarily with pride to elders and assume advisory/consultative roles. It’s in politics where it’s the opposite. The young must never buy into that persuasion you present here. Nations are stagnating.

Female MP kicked out of Parliament for wearing a trousers

Female MP kicked out of Parliament for wearing a trousers. A female Member of Parliament (MP) in Tanzania was ejected from Parliament for wearing trousers and other female MPs are now demanding an apology to the MP.

The MP was ejected after Hussein Amar, a male MP, said the way some women dressed invited ridicule to parliament. Said Hussein Amar on Tuesday:

Mr Speaker, an example there is my sister seated on my right with a yellow shirt. Look at the trousers she has worn, Mr Speaker! The Speaker then ordered the MP, Condester Sichwale, to leave. Said the Speaker Job Ndugai:

Go dress up well, and then join us back later._He added that this was not the first complaint he had received about female Member of Parliaments’ attire, and told chamber orderlies to deny entry to anyone who was inappropriately dressed.

While Amar did not elaborate on what he found wrong with Sichwale’s outfit, he quoted the parliamentary rules which allow women to wear trousers but stipulate that clothes should not be tight-fitting.

A group led by MPs Jacqueline Ngonyani and Stella Manyanya insist that the move was unfair and that there was nothing wrong with Sichwale’s clothes. The incident has also attracted comments on social media from around the world, with some saying it was another example of men policing how women dress.

Govt extends grace period for importation of second-hand cars

Govt extends grace period for importation of second-hand cars. In a statement last night, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said: Following the promulgation of Statutory Instrument 89 of 2021 on the importation of second-hand cars that are more than 10 years old, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in collaboration with Zimra is extending the administrative transitional arrangement up to 30 June 2021.

The government has extended the grace period for the importation of second-hand cars that are over 10 years old to the end of June since there are still such cars bought before the ban that are yet to be cleared.

This has been done to allow the clearance and processing of outstanding vehicles purchased prior to the gazetting of SI 89 of 2021. The ministry further notes stated that the cars must have been paid for on or before April 2, 2021, adding that proof of payment in line with the RBZ Exchange Rate Control Regulations must be attached along with any other supporting documents.

Stakeholders are reminded that SI 89 of 2021 requires prior approval for the import of second-hand vehicles that are over 10 years old as each such vehicle now requires its own import licence and these older cars are no longer on the open general import licence.

The ban does not apply to heavy commercial vehicles and tractors.

First Lady Mai Mnangagwa officially opens female prison

First Lady Mai Mnangagwa officially opens female prison. Under the open prison concept, inmates are allowed to go home and spend some time with their family members and relatives as part of their rehabilitation. At the core of the Marondera Female Open Prison is a kitchen hut built by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, who also provided essential traditional utensils.

Zimbabwe made history yesterday by being the first country in SADC to open a female open prison. The open prison gives credence to Zimbabwe’s drive to modernise prison and correctional services.

The First Lady is the patron of the Prison Foundation Trust. She was appointed the patron in recognition of her mission to uplift and empower the country’s womenfolk. The Trust pooled resources including gas stoves and solar systems to power the kitchen hut, a borehole and fowl runs for poultry projects.

Many stakeholders and individuals donated, among other things, cattle, goats, beds, blankets and computers to the institution. Through her Angel of Hope Foundation, the First Lady weighed in with an assortment of groceries including maize-meal, rice, laundry soap, cooking oil and Soya mice.

Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire honoured his pledge to donate five Brahman heifers during the ground-breaking ceremony, while Mrs Tsitsi Sekeramayi, gave the institution 10 Boer goats to kick-start projects.

Officially opening the prison, Amai Mnangagwa described it as a “historic and memorable day in the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) towards women emancipation and empowerment”.

Despite having wronged respective communities, the First Lady said there was need to extend another chance to redefine criminal behaviour and become law-abiding citizens.

“In this regard, we are here to fulfil the much-anticipated opening of the first ever Female Open Prison in Marondera, not only in Zimbabwe but in the SADC region. Following the approval by Cabinet in 1996 for Zimbabwe to adopt an open prison system, Connemara Male Open Prison was established, with the first inmates taking occupation in 2000. Based on the success stories experienced at Connemara towards offender rehabilitation and reintegration as articulated by the then Commissioner-General, late Major General Paradzai Willings Zimondi, considerations were thus made to establish a similar institution for female inmates.

“I am pleased to inform that a Female Open Prison Foundation Trust to which I am Patron, was established to work on mobilising resources for the intended Female Open Prison. On 10 January 2020, we had a ground breaking ceremony here at Marondera. Efforts were made to mobilise resources and a number of stakeholders came on board with pledges and donations. In April 2020, construction work started with developments being witnessed on this official opening today.

“May it be admitted that the Commissioner General, ZPCS Family and Zimbabwe Female Open Prison Foundation Trust worked their hearts out to make this cause a success. This is in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic challenges since 2019. As the Patron of the Foundation Trust, I also give credit to the Government of Zimbabwe for approving the establishment of the purposefully built Female Open Prison. It is meant to meet the special needs of female inmates as well as serving as a vehicle for their rehabilitation, reintegration and empowerment to enhance their livelihoods after prison,” she said.

The First Lady said it was worth mentioning that ZPCS had moved from the punitive way to a correctional thrust that caters for correctional approach, as dismissed from punishment.

This, she said, signifies the observance of rights of inmates as well as empowering them with knowledge and life skills which are focused on helping to prepare them for a decent life upon discharge from correctional institutions.

The mother of the nation said most females committed crimes of passion and it remained so disheartening that they always served their sentences in closed systems.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to register my gratitude to all those who are yet to stretch their hands to make this project a success, to consider a commitment to part ways with their resources towards this project in an effort to ensure that this long awaited dream comes to fruition. It may not be easy for one to consider investing in an area that most people do not want to be associated with, especially those who would have been found to be in conflict with the law are involved. Over and above, let’s join hands together and give a round of applause to our esteemed partners, stakeholders and individuals showed their love in making a great difference on the lives of this vulnerable group of the society.”

The First Lady said the female open prison would promote and help female inmates’ rehabilitation and reintegration pipeline, focusing on empowering and improving the moral character of a woman by extending opportunities that increase their self-esteem, so that they develop positive minds during and after their time in prison.

Open prisons, she said, allowed inmates access to Vocational Training programmes that offers and equip female inmates with different skills to help them after release. The First Lady said it was a fact that delivering an open prison was no easy task, but called for great commitment.

“As the Patron of the Zimbabwe Female Open Prison Foundation Trust, I am grateful for the strong support from everyone who contributed. Today’s ceremony therefore marks and serves as one of the key milestones to our combined effort. Let me appeal to the community, churches and civic organisations for your continued support.

To the ZPCS, continue pursuing prison management best practices to satisfy the United Nations minimum standard rules on the treatment of inmates. To inmates qualified to be housed here, impress and justify your keenness of total transformation towards desirable behaviours,” she said.

ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu described the establishment of the female open prison as a milestone in their efforts towards a modernised prisons and correctional management approach.

Comm-Gen Chihobvu said ZPCS established a male open prison in the Midlands Province in 2000 as a pilot project that proved a success, hence the opening of a similar facility for female inmates.

“It is important to appreciate that women are by nature caregivers in families and communities at large, hence the idea of establishing such a facility enhances, promotes and bonds relationships with respective families. I want to accept that in spite of such a critical role, women have been omitted to benefit this preferential package of privileges.

Resultantly, female inmates have continued their sentences under the closed system. However, today’s event marks a positive development in the observance of women’s inclusion and importance in our societies,” he said. The open prison system, Comm-Gen Chihobvu said, was key in the rehabilitation pipeline that prepared inmates for their successful integration back into society.

“The open prison concept also comes with many advantages some of which include the opportunity to go on home leave thereby allowing beneficiaries interactive time with their families. This I must admit, corrects misconceptions that are normally associated with being imprisoned,” he said.

In her remarks, Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Aplonia Munzverengwi praised the First Lady for her commitment to various development programmes.

“Your support towards this great cause among other areas that you have assisted the ZPCS and the nation at large shall continue to be treasured and cherished by all progressive citizens,” she said.

Inmates at the institution expressed delight at the breath of fresh air brought by an open prison. Sibongile Manyati, who is doing time for robbery and has been in prison since 2019, could not hide her joy.

“What has happened here has pleased me because I am among women who have been lucky to get into an open prison. This is important for me as I once served in a closed facility. I want to thank the First Lady that we can now have a chance to visit our families that we separated with a long time ago,” she said with a broad smile.

The female inmates are doing many income-generating projects that include sewing. Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi was among senior Government officials who attended yesterday’s occasion.

RBZ raises $380m in Treasury Bills

$
0
0

TBs are short-term financial instruments issued by the Government Treasury to be paid at par-value after a particular maturity period, often a maximum of a year. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) last week raised $380 million through Treasury Bills (TBs) after it issued a one-year paper that had targeted to raise $400 million.

A stable macro-economic environment has seen market appetite for Government paper improving in recent months. The authorities’ leaning towards TB issuances can be attributed to present budgetary constraints on the back of limited external credit support.

The TBs, which were issued on May 27, raised $380 million at an average rate of 20,2105 percent. Lowest rate was 18,5 percent while the highest was 21 percent. All bids were allotted.

The latest TBs issuance at one year (365 days) is longer paper than the 270-day paper issued in March (for the same amount). In April, Government was again in the market seeking $500 million.

But unlike in previous years, where TB issuances were almost excessive, the current ones have been planned for. The funds being raised through TBs are part of budgetary support that was announced by Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube in the 2021 National Budget Statement.

The 2021 Budget projected a deficit of $30,8 billion or -1,3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). And to cover that deficit, the Finance Minister announced a domestic borrowing plan which would see Government issue TBs $3,083 billion worth in the first quarter of the year to March.

According to the plan, there were plans to raise $1,233 billion through issuance of 180-days TBs, and a similar amount through 270-days TBs, as well as $617 million through 365-days TBs.

President Mnangagwa’s Government is preaching the “live within your concept” and has vowed not to use the RBZ overdraft window as a cash box whenever it wants to finance programmes and has insisted on sticking to set budget.

Ever-since it assumed office, the Treasury Department has never run supplementary budgets unlike the First Republic that at times presented supplementary budgets that were bigger than the initial budget as inflationary pressures took toll on the economy then.

But the new dispensation has maintained stranglehold on money supply and Government spending and policies that have been put in place have seen year on year inflation tumbling and hopes are it might strike single digits by year end.

The year on year inflation has been taking a deep since the July 2020 figures of 837 percent and expectations are the figures are likely to fall to below 100 percent by end of July this year.

ZANU PF still deciding on how to deal with Robert Mugabe ministers

ZANU PF still deciding on how to deal with Robert Mugabe ministers. The ruling ZANU PF has said it was still deciding on how to deal with former ministers in the administration of the late former President Robert Mugabe who were hostile to then vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Concerned individuals are sports minister Makhosini Hlongwane and former labour deputy minister Tapiwa Matangaidze who applied to be readmitted into the party two years ago. The duo was expelled in 2017 when Mnangagwa rose to power for being loyal to the vanquished ZANU PF faction, generation 40 (G40).

Zanu PF Midlands provincial chairperson, Daniel Mackenzie Ncube told reporters that the party was still debating on whether to readmit them or not. He said:

We received applications from several former G40 cadres including Makhosini and Matangaidze. We deliberated on those applications and passed them to head office. I am meeting with Dr (Obert) Mpofu and we will be discussing the applications. Hopefully, they can be concluded as soon as possible.

They say they love the party and are loyal to the HE (President Emmerson Mnangagwa). They agree they made a mistake and are young.

Ncube also said the ruling party was, slowly, but surely gearing up for 2023 adding that “Zanu PF is always confident of electoral victory.” He said: The restructuring programme is going on really well. We have since covered Shurugwi, Zvishavane. Mberengwa and Chirumanzu.

There may be contradictions but I will not elevate them to factionalism. The party has moved on from the DCCs. We have embarked on a serious outreach programme. We also inducted all the DCC members to the Chitepo School of Ideology. Hopefully, they will mend their residual differences.

When Mugabe expressed his desire to run for office again despite being 94-years-old, the party was automatically ushered into a succession dispute that reached its climax in 2017. Most of those who were opposed to Mnangagwa’s ascendancy to power are now in exile.

Zodwa Wabantu to wash dead bodies as she opens a mortuary

Zodwa Wabantu had to sleep with a rich man to bury her mother. Now the dancer and reality star has opened a mortuary. Speaking to the publications, a teary Zodwa said this is something she never wants to talk about.

She said it has haunted her for years and she doesn’t wish it on anyone.

“When my mother died, we had nothing at home and all my relatives claimed they had no money. No undertaker wanted to keep my mum. I was forced to borrow money from a rich man and in return sleep with him to pay it off,” said Zodwa.

She said at that point she had to stop feeling sorry for herself and focus on making sure her mother got a decent burial.

“I didn’t tell my family how I got the money or what I had to do to pay it off. All they heard was me telling them I got money and we can continue planning the funeral.”

Zodwa said she kept her end of the deal and paid off her debt over nine months.

“I had to pay because I never knew when I’d be needing help from the man again,” she said.

Zodwa said she would help families that found themselves in the same situation, especially child-headed households.

“I’ll have two branches, one in KZN and another in Nelspruit. I know some families have nothing and I will go there myself to see if they really need help and how I can assist,” she said.

Zodwa said although she has employees, she’ll be hands on in the day-to-day running of the business.

“I will be involved with everything, checking the bodies, washing them and dressing them up until the business is strong,” she said.

Meet Mali’s Assimi Goïta, the man who led 2 coups in 9 months

Meet Mali’s Assimi Goïta, the man who led 2 coups in 9 months. The 38-year-old Assimi Goïta is a colonel in the Malian Armed Forces. The most recent coup leaves this vast, landlocked West African country once again embroiled in political uncertainty, even as it continues to battle a long-running Islamist insurgency.

Mali has since independence in 1958 experienced four coups with two (2) of them were both led by the same man, Assimi Goïta and happened in the past nine months.

The first time Goïta rose to international attention was on the evening of 18 August 2020 when he appeared on state television to announce the arrest of then-president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita (IBK).

A transitional government was established with Goïta appointing a close ally and fellow military officer, Bah N’Daw, as interim president. For himself, Goïta created the position of vice-president, with direct responsibility for defence and security.

But relations between N’Daw and Goïta grew tense as the pair competed for influence. Their relations worsened when the new president announced a surprise cabinet reshuffle earlier this month dismissing several of the junta’s leading figures in the process.

Goïta and his allies within the armed forces arrested President N’Daw and his civilian prime minister, Moctar Ouane and detained them until Thursday in the Kati military base just outside the capital Bamako, leaving Goïta in de facto control of the country. Goïta is the third eldest in a family of nine children. He attended military schools where his record was faultless.
With specialisations in armoured weapons and cavalry, he graduated from the military academy and, still a teenager, was assigned to the 134th Reconnaissance Squadron in Gao in 2002.
In 2018, he was appointed commander of Mali’s notorious Battalion Autonomes des Forces Spéciales, the US-trained elite special forces unit, and it was from this position that he was able to organise and launch the first coup in August last year.

While there can be little doubt that he wants to remain president, he faces formidable opposition from the international community.

Supreme Court: ED and Justice Minister Ziyambi accused of perjury. The duo denied plans to appoint Supreme Court judges in an affidavit that was in response to an application by Chamunorwa Chingwe who is seeking to bar the appointment of the judges without following section 186 of the Constitution.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi are being accused of perjury (lying under oath) on the appointment of Supreme Court judges.

In the affidavit, Attorney-General Prince Machaya, acting on behalf of Mnangagwa and Ziyambi dismissed reports that the president was intending to appoint Supreme Court judges without conducting any public hearings. Machaya said:

10.1 The Applicant alleges that he became aware of the alleged impending appointment of Supreme Court Judges without the conducting of public interviews on 26 May 2021.

10.2 That bold allegation is not supported by any fact which he has pleaded, he does not say how he became aware of the impending appointments and there is nothing stated about what facts he became aware of. There is no statement as to who advised him of the process and whether such advice was formally or officially communicated.

10.3 It is not every rumour or suspicion that should be used to found the institution of an urgent application. That procedure is reserved for genuine urgent matters founded upon real facts. Acting otherwise, as the Applicant does in this matter, amounts to abuse of the process of the court.

Bre@sts need maintenance too

Bre@sts need maintenance too. I was wondering if I could go ahead with this topic but I realised it’s important to talk about bre@st. I’m quite aware that some of the readers would rush to say what is it about bre@sts and beauty?

Let me hasten to tell you that everything on your body needs to be maintained from hair to toe. Hopefully, most of you now under stands why this topic is relevant to us.

TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR B00BS

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and taking good care of it will benefit our health. Everything that is in contact with our skin can be absorbed; nightwear and lingerie is no exception.

Trawling the internet for bre@st-related nuggets of wisdom can leave us feeling overwhelmed. The sheer volume of advice dished out to women on how they should relate to their bodies and, even more so, their bre@sts. Some say wear bras while others say go free.

Some stipulate that exercising keeps breasts “buoyant” and “perk”. Others present more inwardly-nourishing therapies as the way to accept and love your breasts the way they are.

Of course, it’s great that women are talking about their bodies and their breasts, and many of these “titbits” of advice can be helpful.

However, occasionally it feels as though they slip into the realm of prescription and generalisation rather than suggestion–acknowledging and celebrating that every reader’s body and breasts will be different.

Ironically, this post will now add to this long list bombarding every women-breast-bodies-related search. Our hope is that these five tips will be read as just that: little tips and gentle suggestions that can be taken and adapted to your own breasts’ wants and needs.

PRACTISE BREAST SELF-EXAMS
Most important and for everyone, men included need this as well.

Research has shown that over 340 men in the UK are diagnosed each year, so looking out for any changes in the chest area is also something for men to be aware of.

A good piece of advice is to find out if you have a higher risk of breast cancer and to tell your doctor if anyone in your family has had breast or ovarian cancer.

The most pro-active thing you can be doing is practising monthly breast self-exams to check for anything that’s not normal for you, such as any unusual lumps or swelling.

This is a really handy little breast self-exam diagram from Nor-cal Think Pink to show you how to go about checking your breasts. It’s necessary!!

MOISTURISE
Moisturising can often feel like a bit of a chore, but there’s no denying it’s great for keeping your breasts happy if you have the time and want to.

The skin around your breasts is thin and can be particularly sensitive so, if this is something you’d like to try, it’s a good idea to use a thicker cream that doesn’t contain any irritating chemicals to prevent your chest area from becoming dry and sore.

If you notice redness or rashes around your chest area, it may well be your skin reacting to a synthetic fabric in your clothing or a chemical in your moisturiser.

It’s a good idea to get it checked out with your doctor just in case and, if it is the fabrics or the cream, wearing clothing that is 100 percent cotton and using natural skin-creams can help prevent further irritation.

MASSAGE
Around your bre@sts, are lymph nodes which carry fluid called lymph which helps fight off illness.

The lymphatic system relies on the movement of the body to keep the fluid moving along, and so one way of helping it out is to massage in the direction that your lymph wants to move, towards the heart.

Massaging is also very relaxing and helps to de-stress and cultivate a positive way of touching your body through movements that show care and affection for your body as a whole.

As well as a source of self-care, it can also be a nice way to treat yourself after a bre@st self-exam.

MAINTAIN A HEALTHY DIET & EXERCISE
As with the rest of your body, your breasts require balanced nourishment and regular exercise to keep them happy.

A well-balanced diet containing proteins, healthy fats and nutrient-dense foods, such as nuts, eggs, milk and vegetables is one way of helping them along.

Increased physical activity reduces the overall risk of breast cancer by 10-30 percent, so moderate exercise will help protect your breasts.

Diet and exercise will vary for every person, depending on time, needs and your body, so go easy on yourself and set small and manageable targets that work for you.

TO BRA OR NOT TO BRA

There is of course absolutely no right or wrong when it comes to whether or not you should wear a bra. It all depends on your body and its needs.

All in all, if you wear a bra, it’s better to have a couple that fit really well and keep your b00bs happy than lots of bras that get away with slyly chilling under your tops without chipping in on the overall wellbeing of your bre@sts.

The Do’s & Don’ts of Keeping Your Bre@sts Perky

We’ve all heard of miracle lotions and creams that promise to enhance the appearance of your breasts, or secret exercises that combat gravity’s pull—and most women would love to know how to keep their bre@sts perky. But the truth is that there is no cure-all for sagging breasts outside of surgery. There are, however, many habits that can help you retain your brests’ perkiness, even if there’s no regaining it.

So let’s go through a couple of “do’s and don’ts” of breast maintenance:

Don’t buy in to creams and lotions that promise enhanced breast shape.
Bre@sts sag due to the cooper’s ligaments and surrounding tissues naturally losing their integrity and no product can reverse this.

Do invest in quality moisturiser and sunscreen. Moisturising your bre@sts won’t reverse the sagging process, but can help skin remain stronger and firmer for longer.

Additionally, UV rays can increase the rate at which tissues break down, so make sure to protect your bre@sts from the sun with an SPF 30 or higher.

Don’t wear bras that give too much lift to your breasts. Studies show that wearing bras that are too supportive can actually weaken the muscles supporting your bre@sts, which can potentially speed up the sagging process.

Do wear properly fitted bras that aid your body in supporting your bre@sts. It might be appealing to have a beautiful lacy push-up—and we’re all for lingerie that makes you feel good about yourself—but the truth is that how a bra fits your bre@sts should be the most important factor in choosing your everyday bras. If you’ve not been professionally fitted at a lingerie store or your shape has changed since your last fitting, treat yourself to a bra fitting soon.

Don’t avoid exercises that make your bre@sts bounce. There is no proven connection between your bre@sts bouncing up and down and increased sagging. Effective and valuable exercises require a lot of movement and that’s no reason to shy away.

Do maintain a consistent weight through regular exercise and a healthy diet. Fluctuations in weight stretch the skin of your bre@sts and result in decreased elasticity of your breast tissue, which contributes to drooping.

Increasing your core strength through exercise is a great way to build up the muscles that support your bre@sts.

Don’t expect bre@st implants to beat gravity.
If you decide to invest in breast augmentation surgery, know that implants increase breast fullness, but do not combat sagging.

If you already have noticeable sagging, implants alone are unlikely to cure the issue. Do consider a bre@st lift. This procedure is designed to reverse the effects of gravity on your brests to help restore a youthful shape.

Combining a bre@st lift with augmentation can give you both perkiness and fullness; it’s no wonder the combined procedure is so popular among our patients.

Beauty blogs, popular magazines, and old wives tales may include tips, tricks, and remedies for avoiding or even reversing sagging, but the truth is, breast drooping is an inevitable part of your bre@sts’ lifespan.

But just because it’s inevitable doesn’t mean you have to let drooping bre@sts affect your confidence. Bre@st enhancement procedures can help restore a youthful firmness and contour to your breasts by reducing excess, lax skin.

In as much as many women get really worked out when they think of bre@st and the small things and discomfort that comes with it it’s very important to take out your time to take care and look after them. They are not only beauty enhancers but they play a vital role in human life. Till we meet again next week, happy reading.
